Gilmore Girls #3

I Do, Don't I?

Rate this book
"We have buried the putrid corpse of liberty."
-- Benito Mussolini

It's not like I'm surprised my mom picked the Mussolini quote for her wedding invitation. She's never been what one would call "conventional." I was a little surprised (but happy) when she agreed to marry my English teacher, Max Medina. Which makes my summer even busier -- with my classes at Chilton, the wedding planning, and, as Paris so efficiently pointed out, about ten years of extracurricular activities to catch up on, it makes me wonder: whatever happened to the good ol' days of summer loving, had me a blast?

I love reading books for children, young adults, new adults and all the old people after that.

I love writing for pretty much the same audiences.

Thought it was tie in fiction, but it's a novelisation, from Rory's pov, of a couple episodes. Except it just regurgitates the script and doesn't really explore her thoughts. So it doesn't add anything that you don't already get from just watching the episodes. The writing is fine.

I love these little novels. For Gilmore Girls fans, these are such fun little additions to the show. It’s just parts of a few episodes (this one including the Harvard roadtrip which is my favorite episode) but all from Rory’s perspective.
Loved it again!

I really enjoyed this book. It was like reading an actual Gilmore Girls episode with all the great dialogue, though only from Rory's point of view.

In this installment, the novel covers four episodes: "Sadie, Sadie", "Hammers and Veils", "Red Light on Wedding Night", and "Road Trip to Harvard".
This book kicks off with Lorelei trying to decide if she wants to accept Max's wedding proposal. I have always found this story arc interesting because Lorelei has a plethora of men ready to marry her throughout the show, and she is a deep-rooted romantic, but she always has a difficult time with commitment. She is beautiful, witty, and just an amazing person, but commitment is her downfall. I was never a huge Max fan, so I was never devastated that she left him on the eve of their wedding, but it was still sad to see. The proposal was out of fear and frustration, because Max proposed in the middle of a fight. I think we all knew it would not last.
I really enjoyed the parts of this book that took place at Harvard. I have always enjoyed seeing how driven Rory is and how committed she is to achieve her academic dreams. Harvard is THE most ambitious dream. I loved being able to read from her perspective when she first stepped foot on Harvard's campus. I have always held a soft spot for the season of Gilmore Girls when she is a freshman in college, so getting to read about the first steps of that was a real treat.

*Gilmore Girls* is a heartwarming series that follows the close relationship between Lorelai and her daughter, Rory. Set in the charming town of Stars Hollow, the show explores themes of love, friendship, and ambition. Lorelai, a single mother, juggles running an inn while navigating her complicated family dynamics, especially with her wealthy parents. Rory is a bright student aspiring to attend Harvard, facing challenges in school and her personal life. The dialogue is quick and witty, filled with pop culture references, making it entertaining. Overall, *Gilmore Girls* is a delightful blend of humor and heartfelt moments that resonate with viewers.

I am an avid Gilmore Girls fan. This book was written in Rory's point of view. It was word for word identical to Season 2: Episodes 1-4 with the exception that it does not include any scenes that Rory is not present for. There is a scene where Luke and Lorelia talk about the choopa but in the book all that is stated is "mom went outside and talk to look for a few minutes" So it did stay true to only writing what Rory would know. I read this book in less then an hour. My biggest criticism is that it is not original at all. I would not recommend this book due to that.

See my review for the first in this series for a full disclaimer about the 4/5 stars.

This one was a little less Dean-focused and paid more attention to the academic storylines, which I loved! They included the Harvard episode at the end, which is one of my favorites. Fun to read and relive familiar scenes in a new format. Lighthearted and enjoyable. The extra details about Lane’s music at the end were fun, too. :)

I love my Gilmore girls (I think I've said that in every review of the books) but I'm glad to be done reading the series. They were all very good, but too much of a good thing can become boring. My brain is begging for some new material that does not involve the fast-talking mother-daughter duo. Goodbye for now, Lorelai and Rory (and all of the cute boys in the series) <3

This book follows the beginning of season 2 of the show up to where Lorelai calls of her wedding to Max. This is also told from Rory’s perspective.

These books are literally the episodes just in book form. They don't add a lot of stuff that's not in dialogue form which is okay but I think I would've also liked to see something that didn't happen in the episodes that happen in the book. And their also from Rory's point of view which is great I love it I love her and how her voice is but again since they don't add a lot of extra stuff to the book that's not in the show it doesn't really show me how much Rory's character would be if I didn't know her from the show. I'm not saying that Rory isn't a great character,I'm just saying that maybe they could've had her have more emotion I guess is a good word for it. This book was probably a 3.5 to 4 for me. I loved it though. I did. It's Gilmore Girls. Who wouldn't love it?

I think this book was my least favorite of the three. I love the beginning of season 2 (yes, I know I'm in the minority) but it just wasn't the same without Lorelai's point-of-view. I did laugh through most of it though. GG always had the best lines. (My dislike of the book could also have something to do with the lack of Dean. I just really like Rory and Dean together. It is also the reason I'm not going to read the 4th book.)

These books just remind me how much I miss this show. Another great book covering when Lane went to Korea, Max & Lorelai getting engaged, Rory and Lorelai visiting Harvard. Definitely worth a look for fans of the show.

Once again, I loved it! I did forget some details from the show so it’s fun to relive them.

Lorelai really talked like she does in the series so the writers did a really good job with that!
