He walked away years ago, leaving her to raise their daughter alone. But now, he’s lost everything … except hope. Will she find it in her heart to give him one more chance? This Time is Kristin Leigh’s touching new romance, a welcome addition to her Wounded Warriors series.
Tara Marshall has one her daughter, Madelynn. For five years she’s loved and nurtured her child alone, abandoned by the man who helped create her. She wants love, craves it, but fears the pain of finding and losing love all over again. And no other man has lived up to the SEAL she fell in love with so long ago.
Mike Davis made the biggest mistake of his life when he denied his own child and left her mother high and dry. He’s never found a woman like Tara again and knows he never will. But staying away from the woman he fell in love with and the child he fathered is what’s best for them … even if he burns for a second chance.
When Mike is injured in the line of duty, he realizes that he has to take a leap of faith, regardless of potential consequences. But after he contacts Tara, Mike comes to understand the love he’s been harboring for so long isn’t just for their daughter; it’s for Tara too. When they meet again, the passion and fire burn as brightly as they did five years before. But with so much time and pain between them, does Mike stand a chance of redemption? And does Tara have enough forgiveness to welcome Mike back into their lives?

The hero is a supposed Boy Scout with a Bible beating Baptist granny that just wants him to be a good boy and make some nice friends as he goes through SEAL training. No exaggeration...just like kindergarten Make some nice friends honey .
Unfortunately as he is seducing the virginal heroine he makes friends with some very bad boys that he wants to impress so he denies the heroine when she tells him she's pregnant.
He stands outside the hospital crying in the rain when she gives birth that is supposed to be proof he's such a niceguilty guy, but can't manage to see her, the baby or provide any financial support until SIX YEARS LATER when he loses his leg and all his friends. So, in other words, he has nothing left so he might as well hook up with her.
Sadly his Bible beating grandmother was dead by then because I'm thinking she would have given him the wupass of all Wupasses for ditching the heroine and his child.
Worthless jackass.
Heroine manages to keep herself erect through all the teleconferencing and FaceTiming until he shows up as a one-legged Vince Diesel lookalike that's so cute.
I really liked that Michael truly regretted his behavior and I loved his relationship with his daughter. However it really really bothered me that Tara (spoilers)
As I said, this is a peeve of mine, and that is why I rated it 3 instead of 3.5 or even 4 stars. I also think the book would benefit from some tighter editing. Certain scenes felt repetitious. Especially with Michael promising to take things slow and then the next second it gets out of hand again and again.
I found this little gem while trolling the AllRomance web site and decided to read the excerpt. I expected a little lighthearted romance with between a military man and a young woman - something you might read to rid yourself of a book hangover. But what I got was this multi-layered, surprisingly emotional read with some nice erotic elements and a heavy dose of realism regarding PTSD. Wow! Tara and Mike meet in a bar and start a relationship. Then a major life event changes things, hurtful words are spoken and Mike and Tara don't see each other for over five years. We pick up now with Tara struggling with her new responsibilities and Mike dealing with some heavy demons and a life changing injury. I absolutely loved Mike. Yes, he was an utter dickhead in the beginning but oh how he changes. His words to Tara both warmed and broke my heart. At one point when Tara is crying, I started to cry when Mike soothes her with his statements. Tara is a strong woman who has dealt with the curveballs thrown at her. While I liked both characters, Mike was my favorite. This is the second in what appears to be a series but it can be read as a standalone. I took a look at the first in the series (which I one-clicked, by the way) and that is when we meet several of the characters we see in This Time. I love surprise reads like this! The only reason I did not give this 5 stars was because there is a scene that seems to come out of no-where and is left, for me, unresolved, but it may be because I didn't read the first one. But it is still a first class read.
I grabbed this one because it was a second chance romance with a little one. OMG how I hated Mike for awhile....it actually took me most of the book to reconcile my feelings for him. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was because I honestly am not 100% convinced of his feelings for Tara. I think I will go back to read the first book in the series as this was well written and I enjoyed the story.
The H didn't grovel or do enough to win the h back. She was a doormat everytime his magic peen came near her. Decent writing, good story, but the H only came back b/c he lost a leg and was depressed and lonely. What kind of man knowingly abandons his child?? Also he slept around when they were apart and ofcourse she stayed loyal to him. UGH. And the way he dumped her publicly was brutal, cruel and humiliating and his reasons were ludicrous. The h and everyone else were so impressed when he paid her child support after 5 years. It really ticks me off when men get applauded for doing something they are SUPPOSED TO DO!!! Over all 2.5 stars, this hero needed to do WAY more to earn redemption.
