Okay...buckle up, everyone. I had so many thoughts during this that I had to get out the good ol' Google Doc to take notes. This is going to be a chaotic and caffeine-fueled review.
First and foremost, I've heard so many good things about Eva Austin's books and that she is a very kind person. Absolutely no hate to her, and I love that she writes sweet, clean, wholesome YA romance. However, to say I'm disappointed with this would be an understatement.
I had a number of quibbles with this book, from the believability of the characters to the plot (or lack thereof) to the romance, so get ready for some rapid-fire points.
The bride and groom were way too pushy when trying to set Morgan and Will up. Like, what the actual hairspray? It was their wedding weekend, yet they couldn't go two minutes without asking Morgan and Will if they thought the other was cute or trying to get them to do something together. I would have thrown hands at some point because it just got to be too much.
We didn't really get to know the characters' goals or motivations. Will was basically a wet pancake who looked cute and liked the beach. What do you want to do with your life, ma dude? And I would have loved to have heard about Morgan's love for baking earlier instead of finding out in the last 25% of the book. Additionally, I was not happy with how we were told to dislike Leo and Scarlet, but there wasn't really any justification for it? And WOW, our MCs can hold a grudge.
I was getting so much second-hand embarrassment from people trying to set up the MCs together. What in the actual disco ball. Sure, it's fine to set people up or joke about them getting together, but it was seriously every hour of every day.
Romance authors, can we please have a book where the MCs don't look at each other and think about how attractive the other person is every five minutes?
Okay, I enjoy writing caricature-like family relatives in my absurdly comedic and comedically absurd MG books, but what even was Fran? Basically Bridezilla but mother of the bride edition. Most of the conflict could have been eliminated if Fran wasn't a part of the book. When this much conflict revolves around a character’s existence, it makes the story feel a little shaky.
The only character I liked and related to was Emma, especially as a young author. If someone buys my book or reads it or enjoys it…Best. Day. Ever. Turbo-charged elevator straight to Cloud 9.
The writing was basic with a capital B, which I've unfortunately found happens far too often in contemporary romance books. I was so grateful this was a short book because I was about to lose my caffeinated brain cells.
The first kiss at the ring shop?!?! Harddddddddd no. Absolutely not. I would have sprinted out of there and driven my blue-ICEE'd car as far away from Oklahoma as I could.
For the love of Gucci, romance authors everywhere, PUH-LEASE stop having characters fall in love in, like, forty-eight hours. 😭 What about that is even remotely realistic?
Not the Hallmark chase when one of them leaves town after a misunderstanding. 😭 Morgan, girl, please never ever wear no shoes in a convenience store ever again. Also, does that mean you drove there barefoot? Because that’s illegal. The ending in general felt rushed and thrown together.
I had so many questions, and none were answered. Why didn't Will borrow some clothes from the other groomsmen? Why don’t we meet anyone else besides the two MCs, the bride, the groom, the wedding planner, and the bride’s mother?
Who on earth manages to have such an uncoordinated wedding? It was a hot mess. As a Type A+ person, I would be having a panic attack. How did nothing get done? The wedding in Tractors and Tea Time is SOOOOOO much better because they actually prepare.
NOW, FOR THE ONLY BRIGHT SIDE. This was quite entertaining to read at work because it was so ridiculous at times. Also, my "revenge writer" personality has been activated, and now I have a burning desire to write my own contemporary romance but make it actually good. So I'll probably do that within the next few years.

Buddy read with the gorgeous Eve!!

AHHHHH!!!!!!! Yall, this freaking book was so adorable and addictive. I didn’t expect to love it this much, especially since YA books are usually cheesy. But I could not get enough! 🍉
☀️The way they met and then got stuck together at the wedding was so cute. They “hated” each other but trust me, it turned into much more. 🤭 Also his hair? Freaking dark brown curls?! I’m sold.

Amazing book! Cute, sweet, young teen romance story! Would recommend for all ages. No language, no sex, a couple sweet kisses. I wish it was longer though, it felt a bit rushed and I feel there could’ve been more to the story. Overall, a great book! Can’t wait for more My Favorite Color books! Eva Austin books do not disappoint. It’s a treat every time <3

Wow, this was so sweet! I really enjoyed it! I really wish it was longer, though! I didn't have time to really feel their story. It felt really rushed. And like I got this last night and read it in like 2 hrs. I want to read more!

All I have to say is that Eva Austin is the new Kasie West! I didn’t even think it was possible, but this book proves me wrong.
I LOVED My Favorite Color is Your Something Blue. This quick novel was a clean summer romance. The setting was perfect, and so were the characters. The main character was a bridesmaid for a small mountain town wedding in the middle of nowhere. The novel followed a different plot and story than I have read before, and I liked that. It was short—so short that I read the whole thing on an airplane ride—but it was the perfect length for what I wanted.
It’s a hot take, but I do NOT like hallmark movies or books. They are too cringy and fake, and that is what I half expected this book to be. However, it took me by surprise, as it was neither cringy nor fake. Also, it was perfectly clean!
This is Eva’s first book in this series, and I can’t wait for her next one!

I really enjoyed this book! It was a really cute romance and a good plot too! It was fast paced which I loved cuz I never got bored! I would definitely recommend and possibly read again! It also has some Christian elements!

Just two people who have an unfortunate meet at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. Those same people just happen to be apart of the same wedding party. Oh how the fun begins….

Oh man. He was doomed from the start. Sometimes you just gotta keep your mouth shut…..he didn’t. His little “𝘱𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰” would forever hate his guts. Ok…maybe not forever, just for a little while. 😝
Once you got past all of his nickname calling, Will was actually a decent guy. Attentive, sweet, sarcastic, caring, and I could just keep going. The way he treated Morgan, you could tell he was down bad for her.
What I loved is he didn’t fall in love with her looks. He fell in love with her personality. He saw her heart and chased after it.

Get it girl👏🏻 don’t let a man treat you bad and call you names 👏🏻 put him in his place. (and then after he proves himself you can go fall in love)

This wedding was exactly what she needed. Get away and take life one step at a time…..and in the process possibly meet a potential man🫰🏻
She was closed off and had walls built up all around her UNTIL Will came along. He slowly opened her up. (I don’t know how cause they were sworn enemies. I guess he just had a way with words.🤷🏼♀️)

This one's cute and clean. I can recommend it as something short and extremely light for YA. The premise is a bit silly to me in that they wouldn't have been "enemies" for more than five minutes. Youth group and church-y "shoulds" are mentioned, but never Jesus as someone who changes us and loves us. This was a really quick feel good read in one sitting book. I liked how light it was and how cute Morgan and Will were. The only this is that, because it is so short, you don’t get to know the characters that well. I would have really enjoyed to hear the backstories behind the characters, especially with Ava. Fran made my blood absolutely boil, but I guess that’s what her character is supposed to make you feel.
Overall, if you have a free few hours and want to read a fun book, I would recommend.

This booooook! Definitely one of my new fave contemporary romances. I so appreciated how clean it was and the romance was adorable!!
The title is also so clever and unique I just love it.
I also loved the addition of a character who was a contemporary romance author. That made for a few pretty amusing comments.
Fran was ugh so bad but I thank her evil oblivion for being what pushed Will and Morgan to spend more time together hehehe 🤭
I enjoyed the whole thing in less than a day (it isn't very long) and it was such a satisfying read :)

Finished this book in like 3 hours! (it was really short)
I don't have many thoughts so I'll keep it short. This book actually follows the same plot as in the last book I read. A wedding taking place on a Lakeside setting! The whole setting was super cute. The characters were like okay-ish bc I didn't really connected to them due to the short length of the book. I really loved the whole meet cute they had, it reminded me of JKP..🤭 and I hate Fran like no-one is that oblivious to their surroundings..🙄🤚🏻

This was recommended for fans of Kacie West, and it was okay, but definitely not as good. I just didn’t think the characters, or story were well developed enough, and it took me several tries to get into, and to get through it. A good read tho for 12+ though.
Cute, sweet, and simple romance. I appreciate that it was clean. Nothing too exciting, or shocking, but a nice read.

3.5 !! Feels good to finish a book, I'm just not the type of person for a semi love triangle or anything like that. Leo can like die because whys he so toxic and it seemed like he was abusive kinda with the way he wouldn't let Morgan leave at the end..

Let me start by saying I did not expect to rate a contemporary YA romance this highly, as it's not usually my preferred genre. But this book was amazing. It was really sweet with a well-written plot and characters. I've been looking for the *perfect* contemporary YA romance, as most of my previous experiences with contemporary YA romance haven't been what I was hoping for, and this comes pretty close to perfect!
So the fact that the setting of this book was a wedding was a GENIUS move, for many reasons. In my opinion, romance books need to have a strong subplot/setting for the romance to feel genuine and not forced. I think that's why a lot of contemporary YA romance tends to feel forced, and historical/fantasy romance usually works better and feels more realistic. The fact that this was set in a wedding timeline makes it flow really well because there are always several things happening at once, and overall, it's a very busy time for everyone, with all of the wedding prep going on. I won't spoil it, but my most favorite scene from this book actually takes place because of a last-minute errand for the wedding. It's a huge turning point in the plot and really works well with the story!
The characters were also awesome. Will wasn't my favorite at first, as it was a bit of a rough first impression (as intended!), but I think the rest of the book really made up for it. Morgan was also a great character, and wasn't naive or annoying, which I was glad about as I don't like when fmc's act that way! They were so cute together,
I do wish the pacing was just slightly slower, as I think it would have made the enemies-to-lovers romance a bit more realistic. However, I think the romance was really well done even with the faster pacing.
The writing style, with the alternate POVs, was a pleasant surprise, and I think reading about the mmc's side of the story, and not just the fmc's, prevents the story from feeling unrealistic. Also, the scenes where Will defends Morgan were the best!!!
Overall this book really exceeded my expectations - I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a well-written, clean, and lighthearted YA romance.

the setting was so summer and perfect for this week sense it's finally getting warmer outside
fran is SO oblivious it hurts- she really is the worst.
morgan was amazing i loved her inner dialogue so much,
it's so teenage brain and i could really see how she thought instead of being told ykk.
will is such a cutie i loved the way he thought about morgan and how you could tell he cared from the beginning
ave and hudson are so hilarious, i really liked how she could say so much in just one touch and he would know exactly what she was trying to say. they really are such a cute couple im so happy they got married🤗
also i swear this wedding had a curse or something cause why was E V E R Y T H I N G going wrong-

4.25 ⭐️! This was only 190 pages, so it was super short, and it was kind of reminding me of the summer of broken rules with the whole wedding aspect and it was so fun! I was a little unsure about the main girl in the beginning and she was annoying me, but she got better as she spent more time with Will, and some of the scenarios they got put in were super cute! I loved that Hudson and Ava kept trying to set them up lol.

SO GOOD!!!!! I absolutely loved this cute little romance and it reminded me of another book I read that was also 5 stars, so it hit really close to home. I loved this book and I am totally reading the next one!!

I loved the book. It was a clean and ✨scrumptious✨ romance. I loved watching the enemies to lovers trope unfold. And I love the fact that almost the whole family (and friends) were trying to set them up.
