Fan favourites Harry and Joe return in this heartfelt novella set within the Skins universe. Expect: found family and rescue horses, soul-deep love and swoony hurt/comfort themes. And maybe, just maybe, the pitter patter of tiny feet.
Joe A decade changes a man, but one thing never how deep and hard I love Harry Foster. He’s my husband. My best friend.
My everything.
But life evolves, and so do we. I can’t pinpoint the day we wake up and know for sure that we want more, but it happens and it scares us. Until it doesn’t and we have to wonder if we’re asking too much of the world.
We’re already happy. My heart is full. I don’t know if there’s room to cherish another soul as much as I do him and we ain’t got no role models for fatherhood.
All I know for certain is that with Harry by my side, I can do anything.

Lovely conclusion to the Skins series with tiny cameos from many beloved characters in Garret Leigh’s world. This is set 10yrs after Harry and Joe met and we get to see all the regulars involved in the Skins series, Tony and Cole from The Sex Coach as well as good ‘ole Nat from Between Ghosts and Kim from a book I can’t remember the name of. There are also mentions of Zac and Liam from Rented Heart, Wedge from Hometown Christmas/Between Ghosts and a hint of Jed from across the pond in Only Love. There is probably others I have missed but it was lovely to be reminded of them all and their stories without it being too OTT. This also wasn’t too sappy which I greatly appreciated.
I am and will forever be on the Garrett Leigh fan train so it's no surprise that this novella in her Skins series was a five star favourite.
Harry and Joe have some big conversations to muddle through and they do it with all the charm and rough grace each of them brings.
Bonus points x 10 for the guest appearance of one of my all time favourite Garrett characters Nat from Between Ghosts. Also happy heart at Marc's Easter Egg reference and what I'm fairly sure was an oversees visit off page to Jed and Max 💗
It's full of all the emotional connection you'd expect from Garrett and some steaming hot intimacy.
Loved seeing Kit and Lena too, all in all, it's a really fantastic visit into Garrett's Cornish and military worlds.
Perfect epilogue for Joe and Harry's story with the guest appearances of Nat and Connor (from Between Ghosts), Zac and Liam (from Rented Heart) and Cole and Toby (from The Sex Coach which I have yet to read).
Cute I was looking forward to hearing how Clementina came into the world. Could have done without the forced drama of the caravan escapade, but I don’t think it would be Garrett Leigh without some drama or other.
Honestly I just want another book now seeing Harry and Joe in full daddy mode 🥰 They are one of my favourite book couples and I want to know everything!
It was nice to see Harry start dealing with whatever it is that's been plaguing him, but again I just want more. Joe made me want to hug him, he's just the best.
Loved the found family that all live on Whisper Farm now too.
I feel like there needs to be some kind of event where everyone gets together now that the web of connections is so strong - I just hate leaving these characters behind because they feel so real!
Honestly, I don't remember much of Harry and Joe 🙈 but this one is sweet short about the two of them getting a baby. I could do with less "dark" but it won't be Garrett Leigh's if it doesn't have some sort of angst
This was a very nice short story of Joe and Harry taking another step in their relationship. It’s now been 10 years that they’ve been together and things are changing at Whisper Farm.
I didn’t do my research, so didn’t realise this was a continuation of characters who’d already had their story. Regardless, I enjoyed the book (always a sucker for my men becoming Dads) and now I’ll go back and learn how Joe and Harry met!
This was a sweet and endearing novella of my favorite couple in the series - Harry and Joe. Now happily married for 10 years they are contemplating the next step. It's something they both want yet unable to articulate to themselves or each other.
I was a bit frustrated with both of them for not being able to communicate with each other. At least at first. Maybe I was being a bit harsh. Harry sort of dropped a "hot potato" into Joe's lap, accusing him of not being able to see himself, his worth and because of that not being able or ready to take the next step in their relationship but in a way Harry wasn't ready too. He was accusing Joe of something he himself was struggling with. It took both time apart to think, consider and re-consider what they have and what they COULD have before an honest conversation could be made.
The story progressed quickly, which was fine for a novella of this length and considering we already know this couple pretty well (from their novel and the ones after where they appear even if briefly). Harry and Joe have a really special relationship. They are different yet they understand and accept each other beautifully. Once they put on the table what they wanted it was easy to make a mutual decision.
There's even a bit of drama in this one as well as a glimpses into two characters we've already met - Nat and Connor (from "Between Ghosts") and Zac and Liam (from "Rented Heart") and naturally the other occupant of Joe's farm. I'm not sure it will make much sense without the full length novel of their story. It might, but it won't give the beautiful heartfelt effect so go grab "Whisper" if you haven't already THEN get this one on Prolific Works, it's FREE!
Wow! Loved this story. Not about the beginning, but a real middle, life in all it's mess, good, bad and sometimes if we're lucky....heaven. Harry and Joe are a sweet, sexy, romantic couple who love each other more than life and are so grateful for what they already have, that they don't think they have the right to want more......a baby. Please read this story. It'll make your heart smile and feel good
Expanding Horizons! Married Couple, Whisper Farm Owners Harry & Joe are mulling over a life-changing decision. We are united, 10-years later with the handsome, distinctive couple from Skins Series, book 2 romance and they are at a crossroads. This short tale has the same interesting storytelling that includes drama, romance and sexy bits with an add surprising new character, too. Good read. Rating: 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Revisiting Joe and Harry was like seeing old friends after years of not visiting. They are doing well but something is missing and they figure out what it is. They are still their authentic selves, they just end up with a little more joy and love and family in their lives.
The raw power when a story makes me nearly burst into tears, when I KNOW it'll all turn out okay, never fails to amaze me. I've read the Skins novels of course, which made this bonus story particularly sweet.
Loved this short visit with Joe and Harry. They work through some tough hang ups in this one and it was really sweet seeing how strong their love is 10 years into their relationship.
This is a great short read about realizing there is more than it taking 2 to make a family. It's understanding that is what is missing to your family, a baby.
Joe and Harry have been together for years and they've welcomed many into their lives building a family on their expanding farm. Can their love grow even more?
I'm usually straight there for anything Garrett Leigh so when I saw a story in YBBB I was straight there to read it. Add in that it's a Harry and Joe story and I was sold. This is set in the world of the Skins universe and you'd get so much more out of it if you're at least familiar with those books. This is a direct continuation of Harry and Joe's story.
I love these two, I love the farm and the characters Garrett has created, this was a wonderful story of Harry and Joe taking the next step in their relationship and as usual, doing things their own way. It was good to spend time with these familiar characters again and see how they're doing. It's a sweet story, well as sweet as Joe gets, and I loved it.
What a delight it was to fall back into the “Skins” world, and with Joe an Harry as the MC’s. I’ll always have a literary soft spot for Joe and Harry and when I heard we would be getting another follow up novella I lost my absolute shit. This is short and sweet like the previous novella, but packs a punch in true Leigh fashion. Our boys are married, and now debating on having children. The journey the two take to land on wether they want that course in their lives is very true to the characters we have grown to love: Joe being reserved and withdrawn and Harry being his voice of reason while processing his own feelings on fatherhood. We get the delight of seeing so many old faces return in this as well. This was such a lovely return to this series, I would of loved a full length novel..,but this novella is pure perfection.
Between this novella and Garrett Leigh's patreon stories, I really, really, VERY badly want a LOOONG crossover novel with all her interconnected boys and their families present and interacting. Harry and Nat are friends. Marc knows or has saved everyone. It would be glorious.
Just like this story was glorious and actually made me fear for Harry for a bit.
