Freed by The Pack is Book 8 in the Howl’s Edge Island series. A dramatic and emotionally-gripping plot sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. You don’t want to miss the newest addition to romance series that readers are raving about.
This book can be read as a standalone but it’s best to read Craved by the Pack to pair with first. Guaranteed HEA, growly protective alphas, knotting, heats and all the smut you're looking for.
I was very excited to read this book, as the last one left off with a cliff hanger of sorts. It started out decent enough, then took a turn, a dark one. The omega was r@9ed repeatedly. The first encounter was in horrible detail, the rest no details at all thank goodness. I don’t have a problem with dark romance but I went into this book unprepared, and would have appreciated a warning. Her anger at her cousin Lacy was justified in my opinion. She really did go off get married and leave Olivia to die, I’m not sure that is something I would ever be able to get over considering how close they supposedly were. Olivia’s mother is also a bit stupid. Why would she let some strange man in her house after her daughter had just been rescued from a breading camp? I loved Olivia’s Alphas. They were protective, patient, and knew who they wanted. Olivia suffered severe trauma with what she went through, and her alphas helped her through it with kindness and understanding. Towards the end of book it dragged a bit, and the kidnapping scene after she was rescued was very unbelievable. Another thing I absolutely hated, what kind of wolf waits three years for a claiming mark!? Three years!!! They live together they are married and have children but no claiming mark? A big let down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Freed by the Pack brings an emotional and intense conclusion to the series with an omega trapped in a breeding camp and forced to serve her alphas. The story focuses on trauma, redemption, and rescue, with heavy emotional stakes and steamy moments. The darker themes make for a gripping read, but the heavy focus on the smutty aspects may detract from the emotional depth some readers crave.
It was alright . This was not as spectacular or for the vibes like the last one . Was it hot?? Yeah. Was it angst ? Yeah . Did it explore topics like rape? Yeah and the mmcs saved her of course. But this poor omega in reality would probably struggle with nightmares for years to come due to the trauma - um also because of that trauma the fmc contemplates suicide and almost goes through with it . ( the fmc did struggle with nightmares but not for like years ) .
Definitely check the tws before reading this book . I may not have been super triggered but Just in case check triggers
. THIS ALSO LIKE THE LAST ONE INVOLVED THAT SEX TRAFFICKING RING . in fact the first half of the book is set there . God I hate Brett I think Brett should have been killed - he is a rapist. And to find out that the evil guy ( the mastermind of the sex trafficking ring -( GOT AWAY AND TOOk 20 omegas with him ( after the raid) I mean that is probably realistic tbh . But poor omegas. That sex trafficking ring is definitely pro life and not PRO CHOICE SINCE THEY FORce omegas to get pregnant
In this universe MEN ARE NOT OMEGAS BTW - so no m preg in this universe and women are not alphas so no female alphas UNFORTUNATELY. Female alphas are lowkey hot
Like the last book the fmc got in heat. I think thats basically what happens . Oh and ofc she has a kid . So yeah this has the pregnancy trope ( not why it’s 3 stars)
This book just gave me 3 star vibes . I will continue the series though like because I wanna finish this indie authors series . I mean omegaverse especially when it’s with multiple alphas is hot
Every book can be read as a standalone . So like No trilogy’s or anything thank god.
I mean what I like about the last 2 books I read including this one btw is the fact it does has elements as of a dark romance kinda .

Just love this series and book 8 was s Olivia’s story. Kidnapped and brought to the OBC, Olivia can not believe what she is seeing and hearing. Her free will and freedom has been taken away, even if she is told this is to keep her safe. At least she had her cousin Lacy - oh wait the cliffy in book 7 starts right away in book 8 with an escape. Left without her family Olivia has to face this alone. She has been assigned to Alphas who are supposed to help bring her heat on. Little did she know that Sergio, Ian and Evan were going to be her lifeline. This book left me will all the feels, sexy steamy times, heartache, abandonment, trauma, love and so much more. Don’t miss out on this read. You are gonna fall in love with Olivia and her men.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I definitely feel like the TWs at the beginning of the book doesn't accurately describe the TWs in this book. Also why did only this book get TWs when the one before definitely should have had one as well as Jade and her Packs. That being said I loved the Plot for this one. It actually felt like it had more substance than just romance. Jade and Olivia are my favorite omegas as and I think their Packs may be my favorite as well. This book just felt more "real" (as real as a omegaverse book could be). I loved how Olivia's trauma was depicted. I really loved her relationships with her parents as well. I do think she rolled over to Lacy way to easily after what she went through but what do I know? If I was going to recommend books from this series, I would only recommend Jade's (Book 5) and Olivia's (this book).
If you are looking for pure hot and steamy RH smut with a very poor plot then this is a book for you! This might be the worst thing I’ve ever read in my life. It felt like a story written by a 13-year-old on Wattpad (I've read better Wattpad stories than this...) Poorly written, and not consistent, the plot was rushed, the characters were forgettable, and it's so cringy too! I laughed all the way through.💀
This one was weird af but reading this at this point of my life, where I have a lot of stuff happening, helped me relax so maybe don’t take my rating seriously…? If you want to laugh at cringy writings then this is a book for you!
It was short enough that it didn't take long to read!
Was soll ich sagen??
Read KU Will update when I've reread it :) This one... broke me. I was highly triggered - my fault - 100% my fault - I saw the trigger warnings and went right to them... In my defence, it was like 3am and I'd been reading the series all day... I had a melt down. I did not want to finish this book. I hated it. But I read some reviews - people are so harsh. Had a desperate desire to know what happened... took my time and actually read it. It's more impactful - more serious. But it has trigger warnings - just maybe take them more seriously than I did. And dont read it when overtired and already emotional.
This series should be read before the Dawn of the Alpha's series. Four stars because there were areas that I wish were explored more - like the politics and social hierarchy but maybe that's just me being nosy and wanting to know everything. There's things that happen in the background that are mentioned in passing... how the society is improving and I'd like that to be given more attention. I highly enjoyed the spice and might want an omega nest lol.
I know at times raping and kidnapping books doesn't appeal to everyone but if you were to read the whole series and end up to this book, you will agree with me that this is one of the best ones. The story ignites the fire in you while bringing out the tears to your eyes through the suffering of the omega. My emotions were literally aligned with Olivia's during her recovery stage which leads me to countless teary moments.
My only disappointment is with Lacy where she assumed she understands Olivia's pain and but she have zero clue and the amount of what she suffered is totally different.
Freed by The Pack is book eight in the series Howl’s Edge Island by author Layla Sparks. This is a triggering tale of survival- the characters in this book deal with some dark issues. However there is strength here too. The MMC’s come together to protect and provide all the support the MFC needs. So this is not your typical HEA it does get there- through the shadows of darkness towards the slight shimmers of light. Enjoy!!
Not my favorite book by Layla. I understand her writing can get a little rougher at times but the trauma in this book was just too sad for me. I pushed through and finished it but not my type of book. Of course her writing was great and I do appreciate her writing. This story line just wasn’t it for me.
TW. The mother Jade is an idiot, knowing her daughter was in a breeding camp; lets someone, who she doesn't know anything about, into the house. This book continues the dark theme from the previous book. Trigger warning mark maybe should been applied to the chapter heading dealing with the subject.
This book was kinda difficult to read. It had some very difficult topics to read like rape. The plot was good though until she left. After that I feel like it was all smutty scenes. A little too raunchy in my opinion. But I am a sucker for falling for my hero type books.

It’s a no from me. Interesting storyline, but poor writing and character growth. Felt like every sentence from the characters were cut short or were the cringy version of what it could be. Swing and a miss for me.
This entire series consists of three things: 1. The FMC having a "hairy pussy" and one of the MMC shaving it for her, 2. Rape (outside of harem) where the FMC can't help but get wet "because of her instincts" 3. Spanking is used as a punishment and the FMC doesn't like it...

They’re mid like there’s no other way to put them. They’re fine they’re writing awesome the stories are really good. The execution is just not great. Didn’t have a bad time here, but it also wasn’t memorable.
Such an amazing addition to this series! It’s already hard enough being an Omega without being scared of a madman and his henchmen. Healing through love is the best way to move on.
The story line felt too rushed and didn’t allow for things to build. There wasn’t enough imagery and the descriptions were lacking. It was tough for me to get through to the end.
Y por fin llegamos al último. 8 de 8. Este ha sido de los "mejores" de la saga, no era tan wtf. Sí, lo del himen sigue mal en este también. Siguen creyendo que es una barrera por ahí dentro. En fin.
It was decent. The main storyline felt divided between two different stories. Even though it was the same characters it felt like it could’ve been separated into two books.
