Gdzie tu romantyzm?! Dręczony tym pytaniem Hashimoto postanawia podbić swój level jako partnera i rusza do działania. Jednak w obliczu przystojnego, utalentowanego i nieco starszego chłopaka ten życiowy quest oznacza pierwszy krok w istny labirynt miłości...
Ugh. I actually thought the whole miscommunication thing was over in volume 1. Volume 2 ramps it up to a whole new level. This entire volume was a four-way miscommunication thing between 4 different people. It was so annoying to read aaand!! when the volume ended 150 pages later, NONE of those miscommunications were resolved. 🙄 I hate these kinds of stories, no matter how attractive the MCs are.
The description is misleading. There’s no spicing up the relationship or trying to get it on new tracks. Hashimoto and Shirase are living together, but they’ve barely kissed, let alone slept together yet, and neither is really making the effort to be more than roommates. They don’t even tell anyone they’re dating, which leads to great misunderstandings.
A new worker, Kumada, comes to the office and strikes friendship with Hashimoto. Turns out, he’s the older brother of Hashimoto’s gaming friend, Ren, who has a crush on Hashimoto. But since no one wants to confess anything, Kumada ends up believing that Ren is dating Shirase, which in turn causes misunderstanding between Hashimoto and Shirase. Nothing gets solved by the end of the volume.
This was a fun volume even though there was no development in Hashimoto’s and Shirase’s relationship. Kumada was a chaotic addition and he’ll probably create more problems for the pair. Hopefully everything will be solved in the next volume.
There was a sample of another manga by the same author at the end of the volume, but I’d already read that. It’s a historical paranormal stand-alone romance, The Yearning Fox Lies in Wait, which is very different from this work, but it’s a lovely story.
It's shorter than the first volume, which is a bummer since not much happens. I'm not surprised due to how much got resolved previously, but I wanted a bit more of their relationship, rather than jealousy (which was admittedly cute) and near-kisses (like c'mon!).
Kuma-san was a nice addition to the miscommunication train, it was hilarious just how bad it could get and I'm interested in seeing how it will get resolved.
Very cute. Hashimoto and Shirase are "boyfriends" and living together now!
Do you think that means sex? lol
Yeah no. Hashimoto's so shy and embarrassed he'd probably stroke out and drop dead on the spot if Shirase suggested it.
This volume's all centered around miscommunication triggered when a new character shows up. (Sadly not in the role I was hoping for at the end of the last volume, but he's very funny.)
It's pure fluff, but I enjoyed it a lot. Sucks the next volume's not expected in english till next year it seems.
Aussi bon que le premier avec un humour basé sur les quiproquos. Ça fonctionne toujours aussi bien mais j’aurais aimé que certains soient levés en fin de tome afin de faire avancer l’histoire.
Cute, funny, and pretty art. What more could you want? Although, it you're not a fan of miscommunication, this is not for you. For me, it's a great palate cleanser.
Ok so basically like a year to get a new volume here in Poland only for it to be basically...this? Sorry but like, there was almost no plot we only had a very annoying miscommunication AGAIN like I gotta say I hate it when miscommunication is the main trope and it's the bad type too. Just like in the previous volume but at least the previous one had more actual plot. The volume ended also like randomly and the thing didn't even get resolved so I gotta wait what another year? And I really love the characters here and the premise it's so cool, the dynamic too plsss It's also kinda funny how this volume is like half smaller then the last one... It just really disappointed me cause I was waiting for it for a really long time :(((( The artstyle is still good as always I love it (I love Ren sm hihuhu)
How Many Ways Can Four People Misinterpret and Misunderstand the Same Set of Information: Volume 2.
Not much in the way of relationship development. In part because this volume is just the three OG’s and one new guy failing to clearly communicate information to each other. But also because Hashimoto continues to be an aroace icon. The volume opens up with him saying he was gonna level up their relationship, and yet at no point did he even make an attempt.
If you don’t like miscommunication tropes, this will be torture to you. I was having a good time, though. I also love how the youngest of the bunch is the most emotionally intelligent. And if people would stop feeding him misinformation, he would have everything sorted in no time.
Bummed because I didn’t think this volume was as good as the first. It was also significantly shorter. I was already disappointed when I took it out of the box and could see it was shorter than the first but then I read it and saw that there was a large chunk of pages taken up by kodansha ads and a preview of another work by the author (a standalone I own but haven’t read yet).
Somewhat surprisingly, I didn’t mind having another miscommunication plot be the basis of this volume because I still found it funny. That being said, I do hope that it’s resolved quickly next volume so we can move on to other things. My real gripe with this volume was that I wanted there to be more progress in Hashimoto and Shirase’s relationship and we really didn’t get that at all. Hashimoto still gets embarrassed when Shirase kisses him and they’re still acting far more like friends, roommates, and coworkers than they are boyfriends.
Because of how this volume started, I thought the main goal of this volume was going to be for Hashimoto and Shirase to get more on the same page and actually become more romantic in their relationship. Like I understand they haven’t been together for a super long time and people move at their own paces but it just feels to me like they should’ve made more progress by now, especially since Hashimoto worries about not treating Shirase enough like a boyfriend. And it seems like Shirase just moves at the pace Hashimoto sets out of fear of rushing him too much. Which it’s great that he’s being respectful of that but at the same time I think Hashimoto could do with a gentle nudge. At the very least I think the two should have a more upfront conversation with each other so they can be on the same track and maybe make some meaningful progress. I still like the story a lot, I’m just hoping next volume will be better.
Side note, I still love Kumada (Ren!) and Atsushi is very cute as well. Fingers crossed still that Ren will end up with someone else as the second couple because he’s a sweet kid, he deserves it.
Very cute and fluffy romance that relies on multiple misunderstandings to drive the plot. The art and characters are appealing and the story is engaging. Good stuff.
A little disappointed that this volume is significantly smaller than the first one - 208 pages to 320 pages, with a big chunk of it taken up by Kodansha ads and the first chapter of Nmura's other work, which is not a new publication and which I've already purchased and read. 19 chapters of actual Online Friend content in the first volume, and 5 in this one...I just wanted more!
Plus I'm kind of surprised that their relationship seems to have shifted back into gamer buddies mode, even though they're living together. I think, based on the bonus chapter and a scene from earlier on, they have separate beds in a single bedroom, which I guess is reasonable for a couple that's only been together for three months and living together for one. It does take a while to transition from early dating jitters to full on lovey-dovey cohabitation. But Hashimoto still gets nervous and awkward whenever they kiss, which I would've thought they'd gotten past by now. And it doesn't seem like they've done anything else - Shirase starts something at one point but gets interrupted by a phone call.
I'd also thought that might be the point of this volume, since the first chapter lays out an assortment of moments where they're talking past each other - both wanting to spend more intimate time together but each missing the signals in turn. Looks like it'll take a while to move away from the "wholesome" living situation into Full Boyfriends Mode, because instead we've buckled in for another funny but sweet round of multiple lives miscommunication.
I'm still really hoping Kumada will have his own love interest eventually, but his older brother is a fun introduction for now. Sweet, oblivious, good-hearted Hashimoto is, of course, the only person who somehow sees the two of them as similar, because they have completely opposite personalities. The older Kumada - Atsushi - is extremely extroverted, great at networking, cheerful and optimistic, and a generally fantastically fun person to be around. He's freshly back from an overseas assignment he'd gotten as a new employee, thanks to his incredible people skills.
After he runs into Hashimoto, who helps him find their main office building, they instantly become friends and set off that fresh round of difficulties.
The misunderstandings this time are: - Atsushi finds out his little brother, Ren, has a crush on an older man whom he met in an online game and whom he refuses to name because Atsushi knows him. He puts two and two together and comes up, incorrectly, with Shirase. - Shirase and Hashimoto think Atsushi knows they're dating, so when Atsushi tells Shirase he can't support his relationship because he cares too much about Shirase's boyfriend, Shirase assumes Atsushi has a crush on Hashimoto. - Since Shirase is being normal at home but strange at work, Hashimoto thinks he might be having a work-related problem that he doesn't trust Hashimoto to help with - or maybe he's planning to quit this job and take another one, which could make their relationship long distance. He panics and slides into useless self-hating mode. ("Why is Shirase even dating me anyway") - Ren tries to intervene to help Hashimoto, whom he still has a crush on but is a really good friend to, and is weirded out that his brother's acting strange about the whole thing. He calls Shirase to tell him to just frickin' talk to his boyfriend. Shirase agrees but also tells Ren that his older brother has a crush on Hashimoto.
Meanwhile, Atsushi has started playing the online game with Hashimoto, trying to level up so his brother will agree to play with him, but he doesn't realize that he's already met and friended Shirase and Ren while Hashimoto was offline. And it was online-Shirase who told him to be honest with IRL-Shirase about how he feels about his brother's relationship with an older working man.
So basically it's all a giant mess, but it's really funny and somehow still super sweet. I don't know what it is about this series; I just adore the characters, even as new ones pop up, and all their interactions are so fresh and fun. They're an assortment of really good people who wouldn't naturally all meet or hang out in real life, but start doing so because they met through an online game where it was easier to chat casually. And I just love all of that.
This is a series I wouldn't mind sticking with for a while, although I do hope the misunderstandings trope doesn't carry on for a dozen volumes or something silly. I'd like to see Hashimoto and Shirase progress in their relationship, and the Kumada brothers find their own happiness.
*sighs* everyone in this manga is so fucking stupid... <-- said with the utmost affection
Okay, I REALLY should not have read this while I had a cold, because once again, I burst out laughing multiple times and ended up coughing hahaha...
Like I said in my review of the first volume, misunderstandings usually aren't my thing and usually aren't that funny to me, but every misunderstanding in this series is just taken to such a extreme degree I cannot help but laugh at how ridiculous it all is. And at the end of the day, I love a manga that is funny and that I ultimately had a blast reading.
The group still has one brain cell between the three of them, and I'm happy to report that adding Atsushi has not helped them intellectually in the slightest. In fact, he might be some how making them worse lol. The biggest change in this volume is that it's Kumada (Ren)'s turn with the brain cell, and I'm sure he's going to be the one to get them out of this mess of misunderstanding and assumptions that have gone so far off the rails that they have spawned multiple new assumptions and subsequent misunderstandings. I know that sounds very annoying, but trust me -- it's SO funny.
We didn't get to spend too much time with Hashimoto and Shirase as a couple, but I really liked the parts we did get (especially near the end), and I really like how this series isn't just about them -- it's about their whole small friend group as a whole. And I can't wait to see how everything gets resolved and probably more convoluted in the next volume.
(Wasn't a fan, though, of Kodansha's decision to print the whole first chapter of The Yearning Fox Lies in Wait at the end of this volume. Like, the physical copy of this volume came out in September, while The Yearning Fox Lies in Wait came out in May... like, what was the point of advertising it like this? Did it not sell that well and you're trying to make sure people know it's the same managaka so they'll check it out? It seems like just a waste of paper to me, especially since I DID buy and read The Yearning Fox Lies in Wait and it's just not as good as Turns Out My Online Friend is My Real-Life Boss! and shares no strong similarities, outside of the mangaka, that would make fans of one instantly like the other.)
I like the artwork, the story has cute elements, BUT I really dislike Hashimoto so it ruins the whole reading experience for me. The denseness and lack of consideration, the insecurity…I just feel sorry for Shirase with such a partner. At this point I feel Ren and Shirase, two sharp and hot guys, make way more sense as a couple. Hashimoto says he really likes Shirase, but he doesn’t have any of the consciousness of being in a relationship. Rather than be shy as some people have called it, I call it oblivious and dumb. And to ask for relationship advice from someone who has a crush on you? By the way, a raid isn’t a rare thing, Hashimoto should have insisted on going to dinner.
Also, it’s cool that Shirase has no problem with being open about who he’s dating, but how could it not become a problem when he’s his direct boss? That’s usually not allowed, and one of them would need to be transferred.
There was a little mistake I noticed in the artwork - when Ren starts to leave after his bro asks him about his crush, he is clearly putting on a backpack (two straps) but then he’s shown to be wearing a sling bag.
It’s relying too heavily on misunderstandings that have gone from comedic, to exasperating, to just annoying. Both in game and out, everyone is talking at cross purposes.

25/02/2025 3 ⭐️ This was a very quick read compared to vol 1 and full of miscommunication! I just wish that at least 2 people would be on the same page because there was a bit too much eye-rolling on my end.
