A. R. Vikram's "The Book of Sevens: THE MOUNTAINS" is an incredible book for children. The story kicks off with a cat-rat fight between Aneesh Madhavan and Kayal, who are stepbrother and stepsister. Kayal, being more intelligent, was one of the reason why Aneesh didn't like her. The plot takes a turn when Ameesha snatches a book from Kayal and unintentionally reads out the last lines, transporting all three of them to a different place.
The world-building is interesting, and the incidents are arranged in a way that keeps one hooked until the end. I appreciate how the characters had to cease arguing and become friends to succeed. This book isn't just an adventure; it also beautifully explores themes of teamwork and friendship. If you enjoy mysteries, teamwork, and exciting places, this book is definitely for you.
My recent read was an adventure filled fiction that had multiple shades of teenage experiences that linger around their upbringing.
For Aneesh and Kayal, the step siblings were moreover like two swords in a scabbard fighting over for their place. And then Kayal's best friend Fatima added more spice in their life.
But the real twist occurs when they are attracted towards an ancient book that holds an aura of both mystery and suspense.
Now the question is how they'll survive the situations which is more like a quest of death and life. Enter their journey that is way beyond reality and tranquility. A must read!

First of all thank you A R Vikram for the promotional book in return of honest review. This book is about Fathima Rose, Kayal and her step brother Aneesh Madhavan. Fathima and Kayal find a unique magic book of adventure to the mountains. It happens that the book has a way of taking people to mountain adventure. Two best friends Fathima and Kayal and kayal's step brother a unmatchable team are taken into book unknowingly by them. They have to complete 7 mountain adventures. They go to different places different country in the book. They go to Kanchenjunga Mountain in India, Rushmore mountain in US, Pico de Orizaba in Mexico, Fujiyama in Japan, Damavand in past Persia, Kinabalu in Malaysia and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. How they complete each adventure is the book. How the strained relation between the brother and his step sister changes in this journey. How they unite to work together for the sake of reaching home back is the story of the book. I would suggest AnuRadha Vikram to convert this book into a picturized book which will make young generations to read. They would like this little adventure journey. Overall I would say its really a very very good Goodreads... :)

It is a simple story aimed at the pre-teens and early teens and is sure to instil a curiosity about the magic of book reading. The story is about Aneesh, his sister, and her friend finding a magic book which takes them on a magical journey across seven mountains. They have to use their skills and resources jointly for a good deed that would ultimately help them go back to their original self. Incidentally, a majority of these mountains seem to be volcanoes - dormant or otherwise. The book would be an interesting read as it keeps the reader engrossed while at the same time sharing some interesting geographical facts about the places it takes you. I gave it to my neighbour's son to read and the next day he came back asking me what I had done - his son read the book non-stop overnight and just went to sleep. That for me, proves the pull of the story.
Firstly thanks to Vikram to have shared the book for review. I am glad and am giving my honest review on the book. I liked reading this book, it is adventure and fantasy. I think it is not fair to give away a lot of things on the review so I would try not to give more details on the story, which would be a good read instead of knowing on reviews. This is story of three friends, Aneesh, Kayal and Fathima. Well, Aneesh is step brother of Kayal and Fathima is Kayal’s friend. The two siblings do not go well together, Aneesh always disliked his step sister and so her friend, who always sneak into his room. One day he catches hold of them, and has an argument, doing so he reads the ‘shouldn’t have read’ content from the book. The rest is the adventure of the three in various lands, with various people. I would leave that to the readers, and would not disclose it here. The adventures are nice, short thou there are quite a few. The theme of the book is good too, more of YA reader centric and is on the current trend of stories. The base story line is not sort of same but the way it is treated is nice and more practical, I liked that part of it. Over all it is a good pass time read but as I mentioned more for young adults, teenagers. I liked it over all and I can rate it 3.5 overall.
Couldn’t believe that this could be so much fun! Oh, how this book charmed me with its pesky characters and the magical book that deliberately threw them in adventures beyond their age…yet they managed to set everything all right for needy people on those mountains and around them. It was a sheer delight the way these kids got to navigate through the world, on different countries, on mountains, met with many people from time unknown to their consciousness. Do any of the stories of the mountain entice you? I liked that Iran story, it was like direct head-on with that monster snake, saving those brothers, and their village. Superbly built on imagination and some old folklore.
The stories of three kids, in home and outside, were funny, tender and heart-wrenching. No matter these were kids, unlike Enid Blyton, they have had their own share of grief and pitfalls in family. It was an earnest picture of attraction and all the associated complexities. The second concurrent theme of the novel was the children’s bickering, chemistry, hidden love…that ran like banter bringing heated arguments often…but in the end everything turns fine.
On personal front, I loved how Aneesh and Kayal fought but eventually ended complimenting each other. So true, adversity unites us. It was beautiful picture of seeing and understanding of accepting the other person as is. Before I close the review without adding spoiler alerts, the author’s ability to put puzzles amidst various geographical locations shined. And the ending of each story…at each mountain…simply blew my mind…at times albeit I had to reread some parts…but that is fine.
A R Vikram, the genius behind this adventure-driven story, really knows how to spin a tale with an equal élan of all literary aspects. Her storytelling grips you from the very first page, pulling you into a zone of different worlds in various timelines with vivid detail and heart-wrenching emotions of the people located in and around. Her writing style is so immersive; you'll feel like you're right there alongside the kids every step of their way to solving puzzles.
Here's the thing that sets “The Book of Sevens” apart: it's not just about magic and fantasy. Sure, those elements are there, but what really shines is the exploration of the human condition in the midst of adversity and challenges and how well they fair with one another. Insecurity, fear, doubt, loneliness, and hope – it's all there, woven into their impromptu expeditions. It's like looking into a mirror and seeing your own struggles reflected back at you, but with a fantastical twist.
Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this adventure. This isn't just a story; it's an experience. Whether you're a die-hard fantasy fan or just someone looking for a good read for yourself or your growing kids, this book will capture your heart and leave you pondering the meaning of sibling rivalry and bonding long after you've turned the last page.
As I joined and experienced this epic journey into the unknown, so do you can? “The Book of Sevens: the Mountains” is more than just a book; it's a reminder that even in the darkest of times, the human spirit can triumph. Let's dive in and discover the magic together!
US-based Indian author AR Vikram has recently released a new fiction book after the success of her debut novel, Samudran, which was an offbeat romance set in a futuristic timeline. Her latest book is children’s fiction novel for teenage and adult readers.
Imaginative storytelling has been her forte, evident from both of her books. The new novel: The Book of Sevens: the Mountains – is staged against various countries of the world. As the title and blurb gives it out, three teenage protagonists are set on an adventure trail through a book of magic on seven renowned mountains of the world. On all seven mountains run a different story where something is missing or something awaits some rescue and restoration and more. The book that takes them on adventure will only bring them back home in their time if and only they succeed in doing the tasks assigned to them.
The novel first educates readers about the mountain and its characters and then the main characters do their work by picking up clues. All three have different powers, they need to work and maneuver in tandem with their powers to decode the hidden secrets. From Tibet to Mexico to Tanzania to Iran and Japan – the novel weaves an unforgettable tale of adventure and teenage bickering. The book not only tests them but also binds them forever by forging their personal differences to each other. It’s a fantastic story with deep rationales of storytelling, it is substantial and compact over grief and bullying.

🌻What makes the story awesome is how the characters change and grow. Aneesh learns to be less of a troublemaker, and everyone discovers the importance of teamwork. It's not just an adventure – it's also about becoming better friends.🌻

The Book of Sevens: The Mountains is a fictional work by A.R. Vikram.
It is a jaw-dropping novel about an adrenaline-filled adventure that will certainly put the readers on the edge of their seats. What makes this book mimicking life so all-embracing is the fact that author succeeded to create the three protagonists, in whom we may recognize ourselves.
Aneesh and Kayal who happen to be siblings relate to each other like any other typical siblings due to bickering split also provides the comic relief which appears very natural. You might have guessed that the primes of the show, in actuality, are the mindfully constructed tests and dangers that the trio meets at the renowned mountains such as Mt. Rushmore, Mt. Damavand of Iran, and Mount Kilimanjaro. From the articulate characterization of Jules to the from the destruction of the rock to the attack of the king snake and the eruption of the volcanoes, all the situations are written with a cinematic flair that thrills the reader.
The difficulty in distinguishing the real from the fake engages my perception. Must read!!
The story of the novel is about three young students taken on a world tour by a magical book. However, they not only enjoyed their trip but also tested for their mettle, courage, intellectual and much more. The cultural and societal elements covered around the world’s famous mountains are informative…and makes up a formidable backdrop. And the emotional side of young Aneesh, Kayal, and Fatima is well explored and well sketched.
Overall, I think this one is a must read for growing teenagers, they will be able to understand what it means to have siblings and how life can test them at any age. If they love amazing fantasy novels with young school kids acting as lead fighters and puzzle solvers, this book will give them treat with its amazing world building and queer situations. The book has memorable, though only three characters in the mainstream narrative, and moments that you can cherish for long.
With a strong protagonist trio, globetrotting settings, and wildly inventive challenges, The Book of Sevens: The Mountains is a rather gripping adventure which makes for a wonderful reading. Full of storytelling that mixes wit, the heart, and nonstop actions, the readers of all ages would happily immerse themselves into Vikram’s intriguing world.
We could only hope this starts off a classic. The author has concealed the deeper meaning encourages messages about persistence, teamwork, and self-improvement. The three characters who are the heroes of our story will, among other things, learn to cooperate even amidst challenges that threaten to overwhelm them.
Before the end, even the most jaded of sets of eyes will come to the forefront to root for them to win.
