Poet Katheryn Louise gifted me a special prelaunch copy of her beautiful collection "Yet Still, She Shines." The anticipated release date is January 23, 2024, and I urge you to secure yourself a copy of this beautiful collection. Kathryn Louise’s "Yet Still, She Shines" is a masterpiece of imagery and emotion. She opens with a brilliant burst of summer, showering readers with color and heat. Dragonflies carry messages of hope to those willing to listen, love’s heat sears the heart as a midnight breeze caresses the cheeks, lovers find wholeness in each other’s strength. She contemplates forever, “Let’s read this next chapter slowly,” she suggests, so as not to waste a single honey-drenched moment. She reminds us that “without sorrow, nothing tastes sweet.” She leads her readers into the liminal spaces, “The space between what was / and what will be: / a beautiful place of calm, / of leaning in and listening, / of imagination and planning, / of surrendering/ and allowing.” Kathryn Louise brings light into "the darkest of places, the tiniest of spaces;" helping us to see that true love exists, and comes when we least expect it.

Kathryn Louise invites readers to recall the unfettered joy of childhood nonsense; she asks them to feel the rhythm of the waves, and reminds us all to cherish each fleeting moment of our lives, the winter sunsets, coffee drunk on the porch overlooking spring blossoms, to stay present and live now. Her words illustrate life, togetherness, the highs and hurts of love, and the pain of loss. You look into shadows and see the light on the other side, and you are awakened. She crafts such exquisite lines: "Just walk by my side / as we tackle / each little pain / from the past, / for we are but / mirrors for each other--"
"Yet Still, She Shines" is a truly beautiful collection of poetry, elegant in its simplicity and expression. I feel certain that this volume will be a meaningful addition to people’s poetry shelves.

2.5⭐ (book 95/25 - 2025) I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

It Was Never Hers

And then, one day she realized…
this was never hers to carry—
none of it was.

And so, she gently
placed it down
among the leaves
deadened to the earth
and walked away,
feeling
lighter, free.

I didn't think the book was bad, but I was bored. It's the end of the year, so I'm most likely just slumping. I did give it a go, and it would probably be a good idea if I came back and gave it a reread.

Thank you, author and BookSirens, for the ARC.

This book is everything 18-21 year old me wanted. The angst mixed with hope is such a nostalgic feeling. If poetry can evoke that much feeling then it's great poetry. The way the author talks about the real encounters a woman exploring love, especially a young woman, hits the nail on the head. I received an advance review copy for free through BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book seems to fall in the category of people who enjoy R.H. Sin and Lang Leav.

This is a powerful poetry collection that leaves you filled with hope. Kathryn's words are raw, beautiful, and resonant with symbolism. She explores themes of hollowness, growth, and endurance through toxic love. These aren't easy things to write about, but she does so with grace. Her poems are expressions of art from pain; beauty from broken places; and something undeniable that shines on through the dark. Very well done. I'm excited to read more.

"Heal through the power of words" perfectly describes this book of poems. This author's poignant thoughts flow gently, and I loved the message in each. However, I found "Empty Promises" ... turning "empty promises and unfulfilled wishes" into possibilities ... the most intriguing. I highly recommend you sit down in a patch of sunlight, a quiet forest or sunny meadow and enjoy the unique tone in each poem. Thank you, Kathryn Louise, for providing such a memorable experience!

Makes You Stop and Think

It’s been a while since I’ve read poetry, but this was worth the time. Often as I read, I stopped to ponder and feel an expression, an image. Louise’s words make you realise that there is still a place for poetry. even in a fast-paced world. Particularly in a fast-paced world.

Author, Kathryn Louise, does a beautiful job in her book of Poetry, “Yet Still, She Shines”. I found her poetry inspiring, and touching, as it works through the seasons of life and love. I’m also a fan of contrasted black and white photography, which the author has included in this novel! 🥰

excellent poetry

Wile I'm not a poetry fanatic, I was inspired by many of the poems. Some of the poems were a bit short, but the rest made up for it.

I think this poet has a lot of promise. I thought “Poison” and “She Bloomed” were brilliant. I think some of the others need a bit more work to pack the same punch as these two.

"Yet Still, She Shines" is a captivating poetry book that explores the many facets of love. Each poem is like a work of art, vividly expressing different emotions and experiences connected to love. I loved the poems “Karma” and “Realization” best. The author beautifully captures both the happiness and sadness that love brings, occasionally paired with beautiful photography. This collection is a powerful reminder of how strong and beautiful love can be, leaving readers inspired and moved by every poem.
