Chicago Grizzlies #2

Something like Lust

Rate this book
Do it.
Don’t do it.

Never in my life did I think I’d wager in my head whether to sleep with Chicago Grizzlies wide receiver, Damon Siska.

He’s the perfect package—hot body, killer smile, and flirts like he earned a doctorate in it. But anyone who reads gossip blogs knows he is looking for one amazing night and nothing more.

I’m not the usual type of woman he beds. I’m a middle school teacher who cherishes her quiet nights in, drinking wine, and watching romantic comedies, dreaming I’m the heroine. I’m not embarrassed to admit—I want the fairy tale.

But Damon caught me at a weak moment. Fresh off a break-up and feeling lousy about myself, I gave into temptation and left the next morning like every other woman he’d slept with.

Except I walked away with more than just the memories when three weeks later the little white stick glowed with two pink lines.

Featuring ~ teacher, football ~ NFL, one night stand, surprise pregnancy, opposites attract, forced proximity, slow burn, some steamage

Damon & Adeline find themselves committed for life now that she's preggers after a one night stand. I could've went for a prologue with said night to show where it all began. (Maybe we got it in On the Defense, but I read that quite a while ago, so I cannot confirm. It would've been nice to add it in this book, if so, for those that didn't read that one.)

So surprise pregnancy trope is not my fav, like at all, but he was adorable with the baby fever from the get go. His reasoning for not wanting to commit was a bit annoying which led to the 3rd act crap and I didn't care for it. Adeline was pretty sweet throughout.

Overall, they had good banter and I was feeling their chemistry. It was a bit of slow burn, but I didn't mind it so much because I liked that they needed to get to know each other first.

Narration notes:
Can I get a 🙌 for duet narration please‼️Aiden is a good one to whisper sweet nothings to you.

DNF … just can’t go on.

Hero MAJOR manwhore
Heroine gets pregnant from ONS
She goes to tell him she’s pregnant and sees him with OW, so she chickens out
Pretty sure he was with many others after knocking up the heroine, but I haven’t gotten far enough into the story to confirm either way
She has ofc been celibate before and after 💩
Saw some reviews that say that she acts like a doormat after the third act breakup, and I just can’t listen to this entire book only to have it end like that.

Had to search ahead for some spoilers. 🤮🤮

She gives me a look as if I'm clueless.

"Come on, Damon. You were working out, sweaty, with your clothes clinging to every muscle in your body. I had to keep a hundred teenage girls from pouncing on you. And now I have to look at you in that towel. It's just hard, okay? I haven't had sex since we were together."

Shit, I never thought about that. I didn't know about the baby for six months, so I slept with a few girls. Not as many as she probably thinks, but I never felt the urge to be with someone and been unable to act on it.

"Well, thanks for not sleeping with anyone else while my baby is inside you," I say, and she throws another pillow.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

The narrators for this series are AMAZING. I truly think that the duet narration makes all the difference!

I was really enjoying this book in the beginning, but then things just felt waaaaaay too fast after a bit.

It is still just a cute, fluffy, steamy sports romance that I would recommend if you want something quick and easy to get into.

The third act made me a little mad…not gonna lie. But truly, overall, it was good! I really need the next book bc I am so excited for the friends-to-lovers trope! 🤍

⭐️🍼ARC BOOK REVIEW🍼⭐️

Something Like Lust is a one night stand resulting in an accidental pregnancy and football romance. And I loved it SO MUCH. I didn't expect to love it this much, I'm obsessed. The characters were perfection, and I fell in love with the plot instantly and did not want to put it down at all, and now all I want is more.

It was such a sweet, fun, and loveable read, and I swear I could not stop smiling throughout the book. Adeline and Damon could not be perfectly matched to each other anymore. And I loved seeing how they overcame all the obstacles that were thrown their way.

At first, Adeline was very hesitant to tell Damon that she was pregnant, mostly because he is a big hot shot football player who is renowned for being a play boy. But deep down, she knows that he deserves to have a place in their child's life. Adeline had such a perfect mama bear personality with being fiesty and independent but also having a huge heart.

The thing I loved to see was how much growth there was on Damon's end, like as soon as he found out that Adeline was pregnant he wanted to help out and be around to make sure everything was always going good. And that was a definite change from how he used to be. He changed into a completely devoted father, and seeing the moments between him and their child after they were born was just so damn sweet to see. And from that moment, all he knew is he wanted to be in their lives.

This story was definitely quite a slow burn between Adeline and Damon, regardless of the fact that they have a child together. They became co-parents and friends to eventually lovers. I fell so hard for these characters, and seeing them together just melted my heart.

I'm so glad I got to ARC read Something Like Lust, it was just such a fun, swoony romantic and sweet book and I just constantly felt like my heart was going to explode from how happy their story made me.

I am heavily in my Piper Rayne era right now. I cannot get enough of these characters!! I love LOVE how the characters feel so familiar (because they are) but we aren't reading 8 and 9 book interconnected standalones- this series in particular moved a character from the last set of books to a new city where he met up with a college friend from 5 books ago and brought in a new guy- I just love the forward thinking here. Bravo!!

Now- this book was awesome even though it was a accidental pregnancy because we didn't spend 300 pages of the MFC wavering on about how she'd tell the MMC and blah blah blah that over done storyline. It picks up after he finds out (she's 6 months along) and instead we get to watch this relationship develop in a more plausible way. I loved how the baby is born before 50% so we get to see so many stages of parenting decisions mixed in the plot.

I really loved Damon and Adeline a lot. I liked how even though Damon was unsure of the relationship throughout the book, he remained devoted to Adeline. He was always a great dad to the baby from the beginning, which made me fall hard and fast for this dude. I liked the parental roles we saw from both sets of parents and how supportive they were (even when we thought they weren't).

My favorite part was laughing hysterically at Damon's babysitter instructions for the dinner date. 10/10. I could picture the whole scene in my head and I just loved that whole interaction!

The book was a bit short (as most PR books are) but I still think it had great flow and paced well. I liked the timeline a lot and how it felt indicative of what a teacher and a football player's time would look like in and out of season. If I could change something to be perfect- I didn't love the Greta storyline. It didn't pack a full punch for me after the build up to it. Overall, though, I really loved this book and look so forward to Cooper and Ellery!!!

Thank you to Piper Rayne and Valentine PR for the ARC of this book!

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 4.5 STARS

Adults adulting properly for the #win Was this story a little easy for the nature of the circumstance that brought Damon & Adeline back into each other’s lives after a one-night-stand? I mean, suuuuuuure, but I’m never going to fault a story for adults behaving in an adult manner! LOL

LISTEN, I experienced this story on the back of a couple of other stories that had one of my least favorite plot devices thrown in and that’s drama for drama’s sake, which incidentally is very common in stories, so the whole time I was listening to this easy breezy #swoonfest, I was waiting for the last minute dramatics but they never came! 👏👏👏 Round of applause for Piper Rayne, please! 👏👏👏 Even where there was conflict, there wasn’t. I don’t even know how to explain to you the sheer joy of it all!

Surprise circumstances like those of this story come with an inherent amount of organic conflict and these two lovely authors not only dealt with said conflict in an enjoyable none-twitchy manner, but they didn’t double down with dramatic shenanigans no one wants as part of their romance fiction!

HOWEVER, can we please just stop making decade(s) old drama part of a character’s present day drive in life? Obviously, this is something that each individual reader is going to feel a different way about because our perception on things stems from our environment and our own life circumstances, so this is an absolute me thing right now, but this thing turns a story on a dime for me and I hate it!! LOL Also, why are we writing parents spilling the tea on their kids to their significant others? Is that a thing that happens? *blink*

Anywho, that *however* I just wrote about happened very organically in my opinion and it wasn’t written over-the-top or even overly dramatic at all, which is why even with the thing I hate the most, a huge round of applause for this story is very appropriate! Except for the text. No one gets an applause for that LOL Are we just leaving that out there in the ether…??? *looks around* LOL

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

I loooooooooooove me some deep gravely sounding Aiden Snow narration *shivers* and it’s not my first time enjoying him narrating a story and mad props to both him and Stella Hunter for their perfect duet narration! Stella Hunter wasn’t as enthusiastic with her narration as I would have liked and felt very stilted to me compared to other performances, I have experienced by her, but she was spot on with her duet skills!!

Surprise pregnancy and sports romance are two of my favorite tropes and they were perfectly combined for this story!

Damon is a football player who is well known for being a playboy and having one night stands. Adeline is a middle school teacher who doesn’t typically have one night stands but is drawn in by Damon. Six months after they hookup, Damon finds out Adeline is pregnant with his baby.

Damon never planned on being a dad but after finding out his child is coming in just a few months he is excited to be in his little one’s life. Once the baby comes he realizes with Adeline not living close and him having a crazy schedule with football, he’ll rarely see his baby so he asks Adeline to move in. They co-parent under the same roof but they are not a couple.

Damon and Adeline are still attracted to each other and decide to give into the lust and have a physical relationship. They’re living together with their baby so why not fulfill each other’s needs? Adeline’s feelings deepen over time but Damon pushes his feelings aside, no one knows why.

Adeline decides to distance herself from Damon to not let her hurt impact their child. Will this cause Damon to realize what he has and what he truly wants?

The relationship between Damon and their child is so sweet! From a playboy to a proud dad, Damon surely has changed. He’s so protective of his baby and it’s the sweetest thing to read.

The only thing I missed from this story is not having a prologue or chapter of Adeline and Damon meeting and hooking up. But at the same time not having this didn’t break the story it’s just something I would have loved to read.

Another accidental pregnancy trope. And you know what? I ate it up, and I will continue to eat it up every time. Damon was honestly a dream. Like did every single thing right. Even the conflict was like...not that bad of a conflict. Quite literally the most precious. This series is SO good.

Back in the world of the Grizzlies is a great place to be.
Damon Siska is a bit of a player and he’s been caught out! A text notification saying that he’s going to be a dad from one of the girls he had a one night stand with is every players worst nightmare.

Damon steps up to the plate and him and Adeline set on a path of getting to know one another and setting out how they are going to co-parent. Simmering underneath is the sexual chemistry and the building friendship.

Adeline is not a ‘cleat chaser’ (not sure if I’m using the right American terminology). She is a normal middle school teacher who happened to have a one night stand with a guy that plays football. She’s strong willed and fully intent on her baby’s best interests.

When emotions come to the surface Damon and Adeline need to decide how they are going to handle the situation.

I love this world and enjoyed being back for this story. I can’t wait to read about Cooper and Ellery.

Thanks to Piper, Rayne and @ValentinePR for an advanced copy of this book.

This is only the second book I have read by this author, but just like the first, I absolutely loved this and devoured every single word!
I started with book one of this series Something Like Hate and I thought the author couldn’t get any better than that book but boy was I wrong! She has raised the bar with this one!

This book is book two in the Chicago Grizzlies series and it is Damon and Adeline's story, it’s an accidental pregnancy, a one-night stand romance and it is everything I love about romances! Damon is a playboy football player, one of the best there is and Adeline is someone who never thought she’d be someone who had a chance with such a well-known football player, let alone get pregnant by him after a one-night stand.
Even though Damon is a player, there seems to be more to him than meets the eye and that starts to come out as the book progresses and his relationship with Adeline strengthens and when he becomes a father.
I completely fell in love with him at that point. I love how he grew as a father and a man when he became a father. Adeline couldn’t help but fall for this man too. I loved how these two connected, I loved their bond, their banter and their relationship. It had me laughing, swooning, smiling and fanning myself throughout the book!

I am really enjoying this series, I can’t wait to read book three! This would have to be one of my favourite accidental pregnancy romances to date!

5 STARS!

This is a one-night-stand, accidental pregnancy, football romance and boy did these authors give us a great read.
Fun, sweet, swoony and had me smiling the whole time.
I couldn’t get enough of Adeline and Damon. These two are perfect for each other and watching them navigate everything life threw at them was wonderful.

Adeline was strong, feisty and so confident-standing up for herself and how she feels. I found her very relatable with all her inner thoughts!

Did Damon steal the show, he sure did! #damonstolemyheart couldn’t be more accurate. He is adamant in his resistance to fall in love or be in a relationship. Finding out why had my heart going out to him. His reputation and playboy ways were quickly left behind when he found out Adeline was pregnant and when the baby was born. I think learnt a lot about himself too.

Damon’s and Adeline’s commitment to their little family was great but I just wanted them to realize they had feelings for one another. I was on the edge of my seat, waiting to see if these two would ever figure it out.
They worked well as a team and as co-parents. This is what they focused on-but you could feel the strength of their attraction- such high chemistry and so much tension made it a challenge. It was such fun when they finally gave in! They could not deny the physical connection, but when feelings start to come in the picture, it changes a lot more than expected…

I really enjoyed the timeline and flow of the story. I loved the time they had together and as a little family. It really gave Damon and Adeline an opportunity to get to know another in a deeper way.

Overall, this was a fantastic read. I am loving this series so far and all the characters. Damon, Coop and Miles are hilarious together. How close they are and the little bickering between them was too funny and just the best.

Absolutely check these books out if you love a good football romance. I am so excited for book 3, I need to know more about Coop and Ellery and what is really going on there!

Oh, how the playboy has changed his spots.

If you have read ON THE DEFENSE, which I highly suggest you do BTW, it's currently FREE, you have met Damon Siska, the wide receiver for the Chicago Grizzlies, and Adeline, a middle school teacher whom Damon has an ONS with, in that book. Fast forward six months, and here we are.

Damon receives a text saying he's going to be a daddy. Well, what's a guy to do? He can only head to the school where she works and confront her since she isn't responding to him via the phone. I have to say I LOVE the school secretary who plays Mama Bear to Adeline.

Anytime I see a Piper Rayne sports romance...I have to read it. I am just obsessed with their banter and think it's some of the best out there.

This story follows Damon and Adeline. After a one-night stand Adeline becomes pregnant. She is hesitant to tell Damon because he is a NFL star and a well-known playboy. However, after a strange text to Damon he finds out 6 months later. And well as soon as he finds out...he goes into Daddy mode and we all know how these go. LOL

I loved Damon and Adeline together. Damon remained devoted to Adeline as soon as he found that she was pregnant and I ate that up!
I loved how strong and feisty Adeline was. Loved seeing her stand up for herself and be confident in doing so. So refreshing.
And Damon...my heart after you find out why he is so resilient to fall in love or be in a relationship. But his growth from reformed playboy to devoted father was so fun to read. And his instructions for his and Adeline's night out had me rolling...LOL

I absolutely love this universe that Piper Rayne has created. This was a sweet, fun, easy read that had me giggling and kicking my feet. I cannot wait to read the next in the series. Thank you to Piper Rayne and Valentine PR for eARC.

What happens when a school teacher acts out of character and has a one night stand with a player both on and off the field? They're both in for the surprise of their life!

We met Damon and Adeline in the prequel novella, On the Defense, when they had their night together. They had great chemistry but then she went on her way and that seemed to be the end of it. But this book picks up after she finds out she's pregnant from their night together.

I loved Damon and Adeline together. Their banter was sweet and funny. Damon's character growth was really well done. He uses his athletic dedication and determination to do well in all aspects of his life and he definitely showed that in how he reacted to the news. It was so fun reading how they handled her pregnancy and they did it with grace and a good amount of teamwork. And though their families were a little much in the beginning, you could tell it came from a place of love. Even his friends were there and supportive. Overall, a great group of people surrounding our FMC and MMC to give them any help they needed.

This book had me laughing at some points and swooning at others. I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed my time in their world and can't wait for the next book!

After a one night stand, Adeline finds out she is pregnant with the football star's baby.
Damon has a bit of a playboy rep but he is so much more than that. From the start Damon did the right thing. He has some issues that keep him from committing. But the love he has for his little family is beautiful.

I really loved that Adeline and Damon really got to know each other and put their child first, all the while battling the chemistry that is so obvious between them.

I could not put it down. This was such a well written surprise pregnancy book. We got to see them together during the pregnancy & after their baby was born and I loved we got to spend so much time with them.
The authors wrote a heartfelt, fun and lovely story that just kept getting better and better. It might be my new favorite read by them. (Sorry Miles and Bryce)

Playboys make the best baby daddies and Damon Siska tops the list! It was hilarious, adorable and ovaries exploding hot to see the player fall hard for his daughter first and then, her mother! Adeline doesn't fall for his charm so easily. But Damon is here to prove his reputation isn't who he is. He has some issues to work through and he definitely acts like an emotionally unavailable guy but Adeline just knocked him off his feet. I love her sweet and sassy personality. The bromance, as always, steals the show. It was super slow burn..I didn't expect Damon to be able to keep his lust under control for that long!

NFL star QB Damon Siska has just found out that he is going to a father. It appears his playboy days are catching upto him. He won't avoid his responsibilities though but first he has to convince his baby momma Adeline that he is serious. She is being wooed and pursued and her shield is getting weaker. And her attraction to the one night stand turned baby daddy isn't helping at all.

Damon surprised me a lot! The authors gave him a deep backstory where he has been trying to get approval from his rich and stubborn father who doesn't support his decision to become a football player. Years of resentment and vulnerability make him scared of his ability to be a good father. But he isn't running away. He jumped into the mess with full honesty and determination. And he will need all that because Adeline is nothing his groupies. She has a stable job and a very supportive family and great friends. She was sceptical about Damon's ability to commit to fatherhood. But Damon won her over with his charming ways. They tried to keep it simple but their chemistry is explosive. They had to give in and accept that they are more than coparents. I loved the banter among the Grizzlies!

It’s no secret to all Piper Rayne’s fans that Damon’s book has been the most expected of the series and, of course, it doesn’t’ disappoint. Actually, it was a lot more than I expected and I hope other readers fell the same way.
Damon being the rich playboy with an ego biggest than whichever state he’s in type since the moment we met him in False Start, it’s expected his fall is going to be a hard one and I’m a sucker for those characters. I have been referring to him as Dane 2.0 and he came through with flying colors when I learned that, once again, the biggest playboy had the softest heart.
After having a one-night stand with Adeline, a middle school teacher from a very small town, he finds out she’s now pregnant and our hero is not one to run from his responsibilities. Seeing him step up and being there every step of the way is the sexiest thing one can ever imagine and Adeline is not immune to any of it.
I loved the story, the way their relationship evolves and the influence of those secondary characters so important to build around them, but more than anything, my heart melted along with Adeline’s as the bond with their baby grows stronger.
Nothing I say can make justice to this book, only that once again the ladies have set the bar high and redeemed Damon in an amazing way. The only thing left to do is admit that #damonstolemyheart.

this was such a cute and fun read with tension and great banter! damon and adeline had so much chemistry, and the way damon melted for his daughter was just the sweetest 🥹 i loved seeing them both grow together throughout the story. i would definitely recommend reading the prequel novella, since damon and adeline's backstory is not provided in this book.

overall this was a heartwarming, easy-to-read sports romance in true piper rayne fashion, and i devoured it 🫶🏼

Thank you to Piper Rayne and Valentine PR for the eARC in return for my honest review.

First off, I must say I really enjoyed all of the side characters coming into play from the previous book. This was such a fun part of the read and I loved the banter between them all… those little Easter eggs thrown in always make me feel like I’m watching it all play out as a movie.

*****

Adeline is our girl next door, smaller town, middle school teacher who has her head on straight and just so happens to end up in a one nighter with a very handsome Damon. She needed a night to let loose and goodness if that’s not what she did! 😉

Damon is our famous grizzlies fb player, who can have his pick of the ladies any night of the week, and he is not one to settle down or be a “relationship” kind of guy. Being a family man is not a goal he has set out for himself. And he is always in the gossip magazines and tabloids.

When Adeline and Damon meet one night and end up in the sack together, she never thinks she will have to come into contact with him again, as she is sneaking out the next morning.

Damon thought she was a babe and enjoyed his night with her, but he was completely caught off guard when months later he received a strange text, from her?!

And this is where things really start to come into play…… ((don’t want to spoil this amazing story, so please read this book to find out how they meet up again))

******

I really enjoyed the main two characters and how their characters and story developed as well as the fun new side characters!!! ((The manny had me smiling big time))

Great job! Can’t wait to read more by these two incredible authors Piper & Rayne

This was a SUPPPPPERR SLOW BURN, and it honestly lacked a bit of conflict for me. I did enjoy it, but I think my expectations were pretty high for this one. I love a reformed playboy.

Book Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Something like Lust is a one-night stand gone wrong, football, sports romance story. It’s the story of Damon & Adeline.

Damon is a playboy professional football player and Adeline is an elementary school teacher. They meet at a game, have a one night stand and don’t speak again. 6 months later Damon gets a text from Adeline saying she’s pregnant and the baby is his. The rest is history!

This book was so good! I love how Damon immediately steps up to the plate and takes care of his responsibilities. They have a great friendship and coparenting relationship. You could see from the beginning how much he cares for Adeline and they fall for each other.

Tropes:
🏈 Sports Romance
🏈One Night Stand
🏈 Close Proximity
🏈Bad Boy/Good Girl

“Thank you for loving me. You fixed all those broken pieces inside me and made me whole again.” —Damon Siska

3.5🌟

fuming screaming wheezing throwing up

Another quick sports romance that I powered through in under a day—again. I went in with sky-high expectations, especially after the teasing banter between Damon and Adeline from the novella and prior book. But unfortunately, it didn’t hit the mark. The setup had all the makings of a solid story, yet it never quite clicked. Yet again, instead of feeling swept away, I just felt drained.

Piper Rayne finally switches things up, by making this one's mmc as the dipshit asshat kinda man he was since the previous book is the fmc who's being the annoying one. Adeline was a fierce, independent, sweet to the core, with that gentle mama bear energy. I adored her and my heart cracked with hers when Damon pulled his coward move. Speak of the devil, Damon, he had his redeeming bits. Turns out, he’s a surprisingly doting father and a solid support during Adeline’s pregnancy. But hell, his manwhore tendencies and inability to face his feelings? Total rage-inducing. I was absolutely screaming fuming razing throwing when Adeline laid her heart bare and Damon just stood there—stunned, silent, and stupid. That was a premium dick move. His emotional constipation is beyond frustrating. Yes, he’s got unresolved grief and trauma, but dragging Adeline down with him was so unfair. Not to mention, the random text message subplot. It was completely unresolved and just dangled there with no payoff. And the ending—ughhh. It wrapped up with a weak 'welp, that’s it' kind of energy. 😓

Despite its rough edges, I still enjoyed this one. The girls’ night out—and the moment Bryce and Ellery got to know Adeline better—added a refreshing light to the story. But honestly, the real standout was Miles dragging Damon for his cluelessness stupidity about Adeline, and that hilarious babysitting scene with Miles, Damon, and Copper taking care of Clover while the women enjoyed their night was a total cherry on top. Likewise, I also wanted to acknowledge Aiden Snow and Stella Hunter for narrating this audiobook. They both did a perfect job bringing the characters to life and how wonderfully they represented them.

That ending dropped a solid tease for Cooper and Ellery’s story. And hell yasshhh I’m so ready for it. Ever since the first book, hell the novella even, I’ve been itching to unravel the layers of their so-called “friendship,” and the crackling tension across both books? Delicious chef's kiss energy. Emotional chaos is definitely brewing, and you better believe I’ll be front and center for it. Something Like Love is coming right up, and I’m already claiming emotional damage for their sake. Bring it on! 💥🏃🏻‍♀️

SOMETHING LIKE LUST By Piper Rayne

😊What i liked -

✔ Sport/One Night Stand/Surprise Pregnancy/Forced Proximity.
I am not a fan of surprise pregnancy, but but but when the authors are Piper Rayne then you can be rest assured that it has been done well.
✔ Oh my I loved how devoted Damon was. He was such a teddy bear.
✔ Adeline is one k**ka** Heroine. Loved how she stood up to Damon's father.
✔ Slow Burn in this got a new meaning. D*mn it was ufff H*t🔥🥵.
✔ There was love, laughter, special bonds and a fantastic buildup.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ Uhhgggg i did not like Damon's brother at all.

Damon was flying high. He won the Superbowl and everything was great. Until he got a text from a former one-night stand that she was six months pregnant and the baby was his. Adeline was hesitant to tell Damon she was pregnant because he was the definition of a playboy. Now that he knows, they have to figure out how they are going to co-parent. The only thing is, Adeline starts to see that Damon has a lot of great qualities that make him a great parent, and maybe even a partner.

I loved these two. It was fun to read from their perspectives and see them get to know each other. I thought their connection was great and appreciated how respectful both were of the situation and sharing parenting. I loved how Adeline wouldn't back down in what she wanted and needed, but also had an understanding of Damon's career and desire to parent. I thought Damon added a lot of comedic relief to the book, especially how protective he was of his child. He was an amazing father and tried so hard to do the best he could for Adeline and their child.

This was a slow burn, as they took a lot of time getting to know each other and learning to co-parent together. The slow burn led to some serious angst between the couple. I loved watching their relationship develop and flourish, while they figured out how being co-parents and a couple could work.

If you want a good football romance, check this one out! It is a good, fun read. Thank you to Valentine PR for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Oh my goodness Piper and Rayne, I am floored by this book!!!! So first off, I've read just about every single Piper Rayne book - and a few multiple times (heyyyy Maxim and Ford, heyyyy). And book #1 in the Chicago Grizzlies series, Miles and Bryce's story, I flipping loooooooved! So color me surprised when in comes Damon Siska and Adeline Morgan who just flipped the entire script! *shock *flabbergasted *giddy *in love

Never did I think that Miles and Bryce would get ousted, but here we are!!! Damon and Adeline are just... wowee wow WOW! I literally SPRINTED through this book, I could not put it down. I loved every moment of it: their meet cute sets the premise but then the story really gets going when she's 6 months pregnant and then the story unfolds from there. If ever there was a reformed bad boy in a story that we wanted to tame, enter Damon Siska stage right. Because... because hello! But Adeline, oh girl - I love her so much. She is the entire package, and she's everything that he needs.

This story is both sweet and sultry, the sweetness shared between the two of them are everything in this book. But the chemistry and attraction is palpable! But the third act... my heart. But then - then! - there were so many surprises from characters all throughout the book. I was taken by surprise by so many of the supporting characters who came in with actions and or words that I never would have expected and it was just everything!

All-in-all, this book is hands-down 5 star rating, must read. It's addicting and is the entire package. It's a Piper Rayne master piece.

I don't normally like the main trope of this book at all but Damon made it work. He was so sweet and he really stepped up when it mattered. It was obvious how Damon and Adeline were attracted to each other but it was also much more than that. I genuinely enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed. I also just adore the friendship between all the characters and I'm really looking forward to Cooper and Ellery's story. I just wish we had more of Daemon and Adeline's relationship after they got together. The authors didn't rush their relationship at all, which I'm glad about because that's usually why I don't like this main trope, but I wish the ending was a bit more fleshed out as it felt rushed only after they admitted their feelings each other. I would have liked to see more of them as a couple, even if they didn't verbally admit their feelings yet. Overall though, this was a cute story!
