He's here to seduce you.To liberate your inhibitions. He came out of the storm, a nameless stranger, a wanderer in a strange land. He has one to procreate. To destroy. To dominate.
I Cum In Peace by Brian Berry is an erotic scifi mash up that is alot of fun.
Vrak is an alien in the form of the perfect man, chiseled body and perfect features. His goal is to obtain the reproductive organs of as many beautiful women as he can. It opens with a scene of Vrak seducing a women and gosh I didnt know Brian could write such smut it was getting me all hot under the collar.
As Vrak continues to seduce women, kill them and remove the pieces of the body he wants we are treated to some good gore and fast paced sequences. We have the cops trying to track down the killer and a gunslinger from another dimension seeking to put a stop to the bloodbath.
A great mix of erotica, action and sci fi it reminded me of something Fred Olen Ray would of directed. Lots of fun all round in the pulp 80s style Brian is known for.
This reads like a cheesy ‘B’ horror movie and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s funny, fast-paced and intriguing. An Alien in the form of a hot, hot man comes to earth and seduces women, they have hot, hot sex and then he kills them. My criticism is I would have (and I don’t know what this says about is) liked more sex.
This is only 132 pages and Berry managed to fit a decent story line into it, however I think it lacked a bit more character development. All that being said, this was still a fun read and has definitely peaked my interest for this author and his body of work. Will be checking more out by him this year for sure.
Brian G. Berry gives us yet another demented B-movie massacre with I Cum in Peace, a riff on all the alien invader films of the 1980s, blended with a touch of splatterpunk body horror, and outright graphic porn. I guess that means you could call it splatterporn? Hmm...
The basic gist is that an evil alien dude has come to Earth to impregnate and slaughter his way through the planet. He is chased by a less-evil but no less violent alien dude and a police officer whose wife was the evil alien dude's first victim. This story is short enough that this basic gist is also the detailed gist.
Berry has a gift with descriptive violence and it is on display in full force here. Each graphic coupling of alien and human ends with a stomach-churning scene of ultra-violence, realized in startling fashion and with no holds barred. It makes for a real sense of dread as the hypnotic superbeing stalks his prey.
My biggest disappointment was in the lack of any interesting characters. Our protagonist, Mark, is so forgettable that I am not even sure that is his name despite finishing this story only a few hours ago. I think it would have been a more poetic turn of events to have the protagonist be a woman, especially since 90% of the violence is directed toward the female victims of the alien.
Fortunately, this complaint is nearly moot since the story moves so rapidly that it's over before you know it, climaxing (editor's note: Do not let Joe use puns any longer) with a superb finale in which our villain mind-controls several heavily armed cops to turn against the rest hunting him. It's the sort of over-the-top ending that you need in a story like this.
If you like your sci-fi horror splattered with innards and bone, and more than a touch of smut, you will have a quick, easy read in I Cum in Peace.
I just finished reading I Cum in Peace by Brian G. Berry and yes, it's completely ridiculous as the title & cover would lead you to believe. And I was here for it! 🤣 If you love silly, b-rated horror movies with lots of action and coitus, then you'll probably be highly entertained with this one. 👽🛸
This novella was simply so much fun! One look at the title and you know it’s going to be. It’s classic pulp writing expertly blending a glorious mishmash of sci-fi, horror, and crime. The action rolls fast and non-stop, and there’s plenty of lascivious sex, always good to read. The alien has a libido bigger than Texas, and the title announces the lusty intentions. No spoilers, but there’s a very dark side to this randy alien. Fun, fun, fun! Exactly what good pulp should be. And one gets the distinct feel that Berry had a whole lot of fun writing it. This was my first taste of Berry’s work and based on my sheer enjoyment I’ve bought a couple more. We need more tributes to great pulp like this. And this is another superb example of the raw and honest writing that indie authors produce, free from the censorship of trad-publishing houses. Love your work, Mr Berry.
