The year is 2116 and Earth is unrecognizable after a virus wiped out most of the human race. Women are the ruling power, while fertile men are on the brink of extinction. A powerful Coalition has taken control of much of the known world, maintaining a strict classification system. All surviving males are owned by the state and used for breeding purposes. No man is free.

It’s a new world order.

Troy 5-47-3-9-9

As a Class 5 Elite Breeder, Troy has always been in high demand. His training and experience have gotten him a placement in the household of a high-ranking member of the Coalition. But he is nothing more than a slave in a gilded cage, and all he wants is his freedom. Troy is willing to pay any price for a chance at escape and he carries the brand on his back to prove it. But this time, with the backing of the Network, he has a real chance to make freedom a reality.

Everything about Troy’s life has taught him how to entice and please the women around him, and he’s gotten very good at it. When he first encounters Veronica Jenkins, her obvious lack of attraction to him throws him for a loop. But despite their rocky start, fate forces them to remain together, igniting a powerful chemistry. Troy's feelings for Veronica deepen the more time they spend together, but when they arrive at their destination, she turns him away.

Will Troy be able to prove his worth and convince Veronica to choose their budding romance over playing it safe? Or will what he is and his past be too much for them to overcome?

"Troy" is a high heat futuristic dystopian fantasy romance and the first installment in the Freedom's Landing series. It is a prequel and companion novel to the science fiction romance series, Serendipity, and explores gender power dynamics as it delves into a moving story of love, loss, and redemption. Steamy, thrilling, and filled with unconventional world-building, you'll be left wanting more. (Paperbacks release date: November 5, 2023)

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE WORLD OF SERENDIPITY

Lucy Regatta's debut series, Serendipity, begins with "Destiny Falling," a slow-burn, alien sci-fi with elements of dark and gothic romance.

Now you can experience even more of the Serendipity universe with “Troy,” an unconventional dystopian fantasy with strong dark romance themes.

Please visit www.lucyregatta.com to review triggers before reading.

As adventurous as a goldfish in a fishbowl, Lucy Regatta is content to be on the inside looking out. But now and then, she gets a little restless and likes to make waves.

She jokes about being a “rebel without a cause,” so it's no surprise that her female protagonists can be rebellious. Women who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo, or the men in their lives... who are as hot as Hades. 🔥

Lucy dreams of a future where she can kick back, relax, and live a virtual life of adventure. Until then, she enjoys a gentle breeze on a warm summer's night. Driving with the windows down, tunes blaring and the wind whipping through her hair. Naps with her forever puppies and good meals with even better company.

Lucy’s small world revolves around a remarkably patient husband, two wonderfully quirky sons, a pair of crazy man-eating Potcakes, one tiny yet super sassy Shiba Inu who rules the roost, and some incredibly dear friends.

Whenever Lucy isn't hanging around with her pack, she's frequently found holed up in her favorite coffee haunts.... nose to the grindstone, writing away, and nursing a once-hot cup of java. ☕️

Troy, the male lead, is a fertile male trained sexual pleasure in a world where disease has rendered many males infertile. He’s considered valuable property and has been transferred between Keepers once he served his primary purpose of breeding. And he hates his life. He’s managed to find texts that show males used to have choices.

Determined to escape, he takes the path offered by the network, meeting Veronica, the female lead, as his first point of contact in his escape bid. Then things start to go wrong and Veronica can’t pass him on to the next person but must remain as his guide.

Veronica had a husband, a fertile male who strayed when she didn’t fall pregnant in a bid to prove his own virility. Now dead from cancer, she’s been left certain that she doesn’t want another permanent partner, certainly not a fertile male.

But the attraction between them is strong and Troy is sure what he feels is love. Now he just needs to convince Veronica to take a chance on him, to convince the rest of her settlement that he really won’t stray, and for them to escape the clutches of the governor, Troy’s most recent keeper…

This story is mostly dual POV (with a few antagonist chapters), well written, and a gritty, intense introduction to a new world. I enjoyed Troy’s persistence, first in leaving his comfortable pampered life, then in gently pursuing Veronica, when there were easier options available to him. I enjoyed Veronica’s strength and resilience and appreciated her worldliness contrasted against Troy’s more sheltered life and contrasted again against his sexual experience compared to hers. I enjoyed the relationship and character development. I enjoyed the development of their intimate relationship, and Troy’s consideration of Veronica’s comfort. I enjoyed the world building and appreciated the acknowledgement of the difficulties of it.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
TW: abuse, breeding, coercion, death, dubious consent, profanity, sex, sexual assault and slavery.
👉 Male Breeder MMC
👉 Undercover FMC
👉 Forced Proximity
👉 Dystopian women rule the world

In a world where a virus wiped out most of humanity and left many infertile. The women dominate society and treat men as breeders categorized if they are fertile or not. Running away from a life of slavery, Troy is an Elite Breeder and highly sought after but wants a life where he has a choice. He runs into Veronica or V, an undercover agent and they have to work together towards freedom. Their close proximity, undeniable chemistry, and attraction makes it really hard to stay away from each other. No matter how much they both want it but V is constantly denying because of her past.

Fair warning, this book is again really dark! Check your triggers. V is 100% badass and has her own trauma that she has to work through. She is kind and patient with Troy through their journey while he is struggling to understand how outside of his gilded cage works. This is my first time ready any work by Lucy Regatta and I’m actually surprised I didn’t pick up her work sooner. I like how the world building was done and how palpable the chemistry between the two main characters is.

A very different world where men are sex slaves and women rule. Only a few men are fertile and therefore in high demand with women who want to have a baby. It’s a service the men have to perform without any choice on their part. As Troy is one of those ‘breeders’, he’s not safe from women who want to use him, even when he is on the run.
This is my first book by ms Regatta and I was immediately immersed as she paints a realistic society where the fear of no more children is paramount and women are prepared to go to extremes to guarantee the continuance of their race. Where men are treated like glorified animals with no thoughts or wishes of their own. Incredible.
She describes the emotional turmoil that can exist between the wish for love and the wish for becoming a parent, trying to safeguard one’s heart at the same time.
Troy is a fast paced, thrilling and very satisfying story that takes you along his path through highs and lows and finding true love against all odds. I enjoyed taking part of it.

This is my second Lucy regatta book and it hit all my 'spots'. Once again, the author's world building was incredible. I was immersed within the first few paragraphs. As a companion series to Lucy's Sci-Fi series, I was fascinated by the dystopian picture painted in this story. The book packs a punch from the very first chapter and I loved the journey, literally and character-wise, that Troy and V took together in his quest for freedom and the chance to choose his own path. If you like intelligent, fast paced, steamy action then this book is for you, and dare I say, I have the biggest soft spot for Troy. It takes an amazing writer to bring such a gritty and complex character to life. Well done.

This is my first Lucy Regatta book and it really sold me on the author! The premise is a gender-bent twist on a kind of classic trope (in this book, it's a world where women are in power and men are used as breeders). This book chronicles the escape of one such man (Troy) and the woman he meets (V) who helps him escape. This book is full of drama, spice, heartwarming moments, stress, and action. It also features a cast of intriguing characters (and some character arcs) that I am excited to see more of in future books!

Trigger Warning - sexual slavery, sexual assault, coercion (not perpetrated by the H or h)

What I liked about Troy was his passionate thoughts of freedom. He knew the risks but the rewards were worth every step. V's journey of discovery alongside him showcased her compassion and her understanding but also outlined just how abusive the system of male breeders and the absolute desire for children really had become. This is a dark, dystopian story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to more from this author.

i was lucky enough to be given an ARC of Troy, and I just loved it. I got into Lucy's first novel, Destiny Falling, and the incredible dystopian reverse-patriarchy society she created, and it was really fun to read this side-story/prequel and get even more background on that world. Troy is a fully-fleshed out character, and I was rooting for him and V every step of the way!

This book has genderbent The Handmaids Tale vibes. I loved this read. The men that are virile though have training in pleasure and the higher their training classification the higher their desirability. It is highly common that men are treated solely as property and only for their body. Troy is one of these virile males, and he holds the highest classification. Desperate for freedom Troy escapes.

The amount of detail used was perfect. I found myself lost in this read many times and struggled to close it to get some sleep. I found the characters likable and to carry some relatability. I did not spot any plot holes, and I so look forward to the next book!

My heat rating is based on the amount of occurrence, length of scenes, and how filthy/unconventional the scenes are. This rates about a 4/5 🌶.

A beautiful romance in a dystopian world. Dark topics, action and high stakes. Slavery, oppression, violence, but also loyalty, commitment and love. Recommended

Troy is book one of the Freedom’s Landing series. I cannot wait for book two! This was really a fresh storyline. Tropes include: Protective FMC, Alpha-roll MMC, Forced Proximity, Women Rule, Male Breeders, and HEA. I haven’t read anything about male breeders in the past and I breezed through this. It had the perfect balance of plot and spice – which I always appreciate 😉 Read on if you’d like more detail about my personal preferences and rating scale, essentially, why I’m giving this book FIVE STARS!

When I read, I am interested (hopefully) in the point of view (POV), the plot, and the spice. I prefer dual POV, I don’t want a predictable or bland plot, and I like my books HOT!

The story is told from two points of view, by the female main character (Veronica aka “V”) and male main character (Troy). There are a few other character POVs sprinkled in there, but not often. I really enjoy dual and/or character POV and this was really. . . different (in a good way). While each chapter has a dedicated POV, the story is still written in third person. It is so well-written that it hit the same and didn’t leave me questioning anything. V is a great FMC with all the best qualities (in my opinion) – strong, smart, and protective of her man. Troy’s character develops beautifully as he makes his escape and I think the alpha-cinna-roll title is fitting. Oh, and he is hot, hot, hot!

The story is based in a Dystopian world (2116) and things are quite a bit different in society. I’ve ready dystopian books before, but this was a unique story line, in a world where women are in charge and men are slaves who are used for breeding. The MMC happens to be the best of the best in the sex slave department and when he goes missing his keeper is beyond mad. He meets the FMC while making his escape. I don’t want to throw any spoilers out there, so, in summary, this is a story of their journey to a place without slavery. For the blurb and trigger warnings you can check out Lucy’s website (lucyregatta.com).

Now, on to the SPICE. I’m giving the spice a 4/5. I reserve my 5/5 spice for next-level freaky or more spice than plot. The spice happens early on, often, and most importantly (to me), is well-written!! There are a few trigger warnings relative to sex, including some dub-con, slavery, and assault. Please be mindful. I am not a fan of dub-con but I didn’t find this triggering or an overwhelming presence in the story.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this book! It held my interests in all the right ways 😉
