This book covers everything you need to know about Cherokee Indians. It includes facts about their government to their clothing. It also included a timeline of events that occurred before the Revolutionary War and slightly glimpsed over the treaties signed by the Indians. It is a short thirty-two page book, but it was a very useful resource and is recommended to everyone!

This is a great starting place for an overview of Cherokee history, especially for children who are studying above and beyond the standard incomplete information provided in American history textbooks. The illustrations are especially helpful, including those on Cherokee games, the Council House and the information on Cherokee foods that are such a staple of the American diet today. The only complaint I would have is there is not enough note of Cherokee legends and the Trail of Tears has only one mention. This book is geared more towards the Eastern band of the Cherokees, with little mention of the Western Band in Oklahoma. All in all it is a good precursor prior to a visit to Cherokee, NC and the Qualla Boundary.
