Logan Kalford was Wren Summers’ dream come true.

All I’d ever wanted was to fall in love and be loved in return.
Logan stole my heart when I least expected it. He was sexy, adventurous, and the way he played guitar left me weak in the knees. He made me happy. He made me think I’d found the one.
And he made me believe in happy endings.
I knew he was my forever. I thought he knew it too.
I was wrong.
He destroyed everything I thought we had and shattered my dreams of us. He left me heartbroken. He made me doubt myself.
And he didn’t even seem to care…
Now I must let go. But how can I when he still consumes me?
How do you walk away from what you know was real?

Quick review for quick read.

What shall I say about Your Exception? This is one of those books that simply don't manage to execute the story it presents. The plot is scattered all over the place and makes little to no sense and rarely seem to move forward. Our heroine, Wren, has dumped her cheating boyfriend and is moving in with her best friend. Wren meets Logan, a member of a band, which she soon start a relationship with. They break up and for the rest of the story we're stuck watching Wren have four guys pining for her, but she still only have eyes for Logan. I never saw the point of the story. Wren's personal growth? The relationship with Logan? Her stalkerish ex? None of them appeared to be the main focus of the story, and in the end it read like a bunch of random events. All characters are flat throughout the story with no personal growth, the scenes are predictable, and the writing nothing special. Add the sexism and slut shaming and it ended up messy. With better editing and a stronger plot it might have worked, but as they lacked those things, it simply did not measure up.

I am utterly disappointed in the direction this book went..
A lot of it did not make any sense to me, and for the majority of the book I wanted to strangle Wren and Logan. Logan's bloody indecision and constant need to please everyone (Seriously? Be a man.) and Wren's back and forth and inability to make decisions that will benefit her! I mean why would you choose Logan over Zach. Logan does not even realise half the shit he was doing wrong in the book! I definitely felt for Zach, because he was definitely the only gorgeous main character from this triangle!

I was so excited to read Your Exception by Bria Starr and it kills me that I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The synopsis caught my interest and I thought it was going to be one of those heart wrenching reads, but it just wasn't. I will say that the story itself is different from the New Adult books I've read this year. There was potential for Your Exception to be a great read, but it just didn't hit that bar for me.

The heroine of the story, Wren, frustrated the hell out of me. The poor girl gets out of a crappy relationship, where the boyfriend had been cheating on her with one of her friends, and she has finally gotten over it. Then what happens? She falls for the guitarist of a band. Where does my frustration come from? Wren needs a guy to tell her that she is beautiful and sexy, and the relationship she has with Logan also got on my nerves a bit. I lost count on how many times I felt like slapping some sense or shaking some sense into this girl. There where a few things I loved about her character. One thing is that I'm was able to connect with her because she is a bookworm, another thing is that further in the story she thinks before she acts.

I don't know where to begin with Logan. I just felt that the presence of his character was weak and didn't stand out as much as Wren's character, or as much as the other characters in the story. This is actually the first time I have ever experienced this with a leading guy character. The few times his character stood out where with the swoon worthy make-out sessions at the beginning, and then way towards the end of the story. I wish that we could have gotten more Logan at the beginning, because by the end I did love his character. I loved the men Logan developed into by the end of the book :).

Wren and Logan's relationship didn't even last. Their relationship started very early on in the book, and it ended very early on in the book. I loved the way they were open with each other and were able to connect with each other at the beginning of the book. But all that I admired about their relationship fell apart when Logan started being an ass, and when Wren just couldn't move on. I get it that they are each other exception to give each other a second chance to their love. When Logan realizes the big mistake of his life was walking out on Wren and their relationship he starts to change. This is where I'm actually swooning a little bit over Logan, because he really goes above and beyond to get Wren's trust back and get her back in his life.

Wren had two other "love" interest in the story. One of these was Aaron another guy in a band. I didn't really care about Aaron's character and he just appeared a few times in the story. He was attracted to Wren the instant he saw her, but she still couldn't get over Logan. Wren's other love interest was Zachary. Now here is a guy that I loved more than Logan. My heart seriously broke for Zachary. He has always been in Wren's life looking out for her and always being there for her. I wished that Wren would have stayed with Zachary.

I loved Wren's and Cassidy's friendship. I haven't read a book in which both the heroine and her friend are bookworms! I wish that I could have this sort of relationship with a friend. Cassidy of course is the wild and irresponsible friend, but she is always there to give her support to Wren.

Your Exception by Bria Starr just didn't hit me the way I wanted or expected it to. I loved that both Wren and Logan's characters developed by the end of the story. Your Exception is about two people that get into a relationship too quickly with one of them investing more than the other. It is about giving each other a second chance at love, learning to trust each others love, and determining that they are each others exception.

✯✯6 huge stars!!✯✯

When I tell you that I LOVED this book. I mean it! This is Bria Starr's debut book & what a debut book she gave us. I mean everything from storyline, characters, to the fine ass guys. This story has it all. It's a story that all us women can relate too. Most people have been cheated on, given our hearts up to the person we all thought would hold it close to them forever. To them just throwing it on the floor & shattering it into a million pieces and leaving it for us to pick back up the pieces.

I loved Wren from page 1. Alec boyfriend of the past couple years cheats on her with someone she thought was her friend. To give you a glimpse on just how strong she is. Wren doesn't fight with him. Try & win him back. She just packs up her stuff & leaves. She gets a new apartment with her best friend Cassidy. Cassidy is awesome too! What I LOVE about their friendship, is they remind me of My best friend & I. They can sit down and read for hours. Then, go to parties, bars and they ALWAYS have each others back.

Wren & Cassidy work at a bar where the hottest bands play on the weekends. And, when I say hot I just don't mean because they're awesome. It's bc the guys in the bands are OMG! They are the hot, sexy, tattooed, bad boys. While at the bar Wren meets Logan. He has got the most beautiful piercing blue eyes. He tries talking to Wren but she does a great job of blowing him off. That is until the next day. Cassidy hooks up with Jack who's Logan's bf & fellow band member. Wren & Logan hang out. Not by her choice. They end up staying up all night. Just talking, laughing having a great time. They have an instant connection.

If you think that's it. You're wrong. Wren also works at her dad's shop with Zachary. *Sigh* He's the mechanic & is just PERFECT !!! Whenever Wren's having a bad day she help's him fix sparks plugs and whatever he needs help with. He helped her with her breakup with Alec. Zach too is in a band!!! Wren considers Zach one of her best friends. Even though it's obvious from the beginning that he's madly in love with her.

Wren has a good couple months. Thing's are great with her & Logan. She has her 2 best friends Cassidy & Zach. Then, her life gets complicated Logan stands her up a few times & then like that it's over! She's devastated! Cassidy talks her best friend into going out. In walks Aaron. Another fine, sexy as rocker. Bria what are you doing to me!! Lol. I think he's kinda the rebound guy. Because, Logan is in her head, in her heart at all times!!

Wren is trying to move on anyway possible. She hang's out with Cassidy & Zachary every chance she gets. She is constantly running into Logan. Which doesn't help.

I'm not giving away anymore! I will tell you she's stuck in 1 HOT,SEXY,FINE ASS triangle! There's a lot of emotion in this story. Like I said before ones we've all had. There's a lot of love, hatred, confusion, fists flying. You name it!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Zachary or Cassidy get their own story next!!

"I want someone to love me, and only me. I don't want to share."

"It's true. I've loved you for a long time. I'd do anything for you. Even fight in your honor."

" I do want people to like me, but the only one who really matters is you. As long as you like me, I'll be the happiest man in the world."

I should have been the rule. But I'm not the rule.
I'm the exception.
I'm his exception.

Argh.

Wren Summer came off from a bad relationship. She just caught her ex-cheating on her with her friend for SIX MONTHS. Ouch. And now, here she is again, falling in love with a guy who possesses gorgeous blue eyes.

All she wanted was to love, and be loved in return – is that even hard? Isn’t she lovable enough?

She thought he was the one. Logan Kalford was everything she had ever dream of – he was hot, talented, great in bed, he makes her happy, he cares for her – or so she think so until he started to blow her off. Just as when she thought she had finally found the one after her heartbreak, she could once again feel her heart breaking.

She thought HE was her forever, but he thought differently. She started to feel insecure about herself, she doubted her worth, and she felt so lost. He cared about her, but not enough to be with her –

I was hoping, hoping, hoping she’d fall for Zachary – she was one of her closest friends. He’s in a band as well, and works for her father. He protects her all the time, and just wants her to be happy. But you can’t really choose whom you fall for…

I wished Wren would open her eyes and see that Logan was really an ASS who didn’t deserve her. He wasn’t ready to venture into a relationship, so why enter and led her on? Why ask her to stay over and cuddle? After lying to her, breaking her heart – YOU SUDDENLY REALIZE YOU LOVE HER?!

some_text

Finally, an epiphany!

It may have took a while, and a POV from Logan before I stopped hating him, and understood where he was coming from, and all those jerk moves he’s been doing. I must admit, it came a little late, I was ready to box off his ears, and to tell him to just leave her alone. BUT in the end, he got himself a redemption for every single sin he made. And yes, you won’t close the book without finally falling in love with him…

Take a roller coaster ride on the surprising twists and turns, and fall in love unexpectedly. For a debut novel, I must say Bria Starr did an amazing job and I look forward for her next books!

Ok, what can I say about this book... I loved it. It has fun, laughter, anticipation, heartbreak, sadness and happiness. I would recommend it! The epilogue was great too!!
I loved Wren, her description of herself made me wonder if she really saw herself that way, or if her heartbreak and arsehole of an ex made her feel that way. She was cheated on and even though she loved him, she did the right thing and left.

After moving in with her friend Cassidy, she started working a second job at a bar where she met Logan, a singer in a band. Her first job is in her dads shop, where she works with Zach, a good friend who is also in a band... Yes, we have two totally different guys in two different bands, we're spoilt!

Logan is your usual charmer who can melt the knickers off of any female within a ten mile radius, but he's also your typical smooth talker. He likes Wren and proves this when he pursues her, talks the talk, and makes her feel special. I liked Logan, but I was on the fence about him from the start. You will love him and then hate him... If you don't, then you have a higher tolerance for complete douchebags than I do! He is the worst kind of player. I wanted to ruin his man hood with a stiletto! I so badly wanted him to redeem himself!

Then there is Zach. He is kind, sweet, and a great friend... He's had his heart broken before and he's also in love with someone. Wren doesn't know who, but has an idea it's a girl from the bar. I instantly liked Zach and wanted to know more about him. Zach is the best friend you can want, he's protective and although he's in the background, you can't help but love him so much. From the get go I was wanting him to heal Wren's heartache, sweep her off her feet, and make her realise she IS loveable.

Do you believe people can change for the better?
Will Wren realise she is loveable?
And when you have a head-and-heart battle, what do you do?
In the end, it all comes down to that one exception. The one you're addicted to. The one you can't bear to be without.

After reading the synopsis I was intrigued. It started off kind of slow for my liking but half way thru it definitely picked up.
Wren breaks up with her boyfriend, after 3 years, when she finds out that he is cheating on her with friend. Cheating is unforgivable in her book so she doesn’t hesitate and is adamant to move on. A local band gets hired to play for the night on the Bar that she works at, and she meets Logan. They get in to a relationship pretty quickly. As quickly as it starts it all falls apart when Logan realizes that he is not ready for a relationship, leaving Wren heartbroken. Once again her friends, Cassidy and Zack, are there to help her.
Zack works for her father and is also in a band. He is this great guy, very attentive, always doing and saying the right thing. He is always there protecting her and wants her to be happy. It is very obvious that he has feelings for Wren, yet she is the only one that can’t see it.
I have to admit that I was irritated with Wren for more than half of time. She claimed that she would move on and yet she kept going back to Logan. I didn’t care much for her ex-boyfriend Alec, not sure why any time was spent on him, but whatever. The best part was Logan’s POV; I would have loved having it earlier on and more of it as well. Now Zach, what can I say that I did not say already? He is perfect, so perfect that I am claiming him as MINE!!!
Overall it was a good debut novel. I look forward to see what Bria Starr has in store for us next. Hopefully a book 2 for the one that was left behind???

Big thanks to Bria for an ARC copy for review.

This was a sweet tale of finding love when you least expect it, much less want to surrender to it. There are ups and downs, the uncertainty, heartbreak, but also who your really meant for. Of course there are two great guys wanting to gain Wren's affections, Logan and Zach. For Wren and Logan the connection and attraction is instant, but Logan is persistent devil, Zach may have the bad boy image, but he has a heart of gold, not to mention he can intimidate any creep who tries to mess with you. The ending was very fitting and I was happy who Wren ended up with as well as their happy ending.

"We didn't have the perfect first kiss. We didn't have the perfect first date. We didn't have the perfect love story, but it's our love story, and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world." ~ Wren

I didn't really like this book it had it's good points like in the beginning with Logan and his flirtatious way, "Logan is still laughing. "Oh, this is great! All this time I thought you were immune to my charms, but now I hear that you love my music. This day just got better!" And he had nice surprises for Wren, "I open my bedroom door to find Logan lying on my bed. "Holy S***!" I shriek, grabbing at my towel to make sure it was fully covering my body and nowhere near falling down." But Wren had some nice lady balls and I really liked that about her, "are you talking about not responding to the one and only text you sent me yesterday? After you stood me up?" Then after that the book started going downhill for me I'm not sure why but it just wasn't for me.

A very good start for a first time author. The anguish and confusion seem very real. Ms. Starr puts her heroine out there while recounting her anguish, heartbreak, disappointments, and generally less than satisfying relationships with 3 different men. Glad I am not a young adult anymore, this story captured and brought back those exciting, excruciating, emotional roller coaster, teeth grinding, stomach fluttering, angsty feelings of that age. Something many of us sometimes miss but gladly have forgotten, and/or hope we have left far behind us. Please keep honing your craft Ms. Starr, I want to see more from you in the future.

She picked the wrong man. H was a douchebag. A selfish asshole. The story has a HEA but not that great feeling that comes with it. I loved Zachary, he was so amazing. She chose wrong.

Wren Summers is the girl who fell too hard too fast and Logan Kalford was her downfall. The last thing she was looking for was love after the heart breaking discovery that her boyfriend, Alec, of three years had been cheating on her for six months with her friend. Logan made Wren forget the hurt of her past heartbreak. Things were easy with them and life was fun once again.

Fun that is, until Logan made the decision to end the relationship. Wren was devastated and struggled to move on, especially since the connection she felt with Logan was so strong. Cassidy, Wren's roommate was persistent in her attempts to get Wren out of her funk. But it was Zachary, Wren's co-worker and friend, who was most successful in helping Wren to cope with the broken feeling Logan left her with.

I spent a significant amount of time frustrated with Wren. She was heartbroken or dwelling on her heartbreak for most of the book and I just wanted her to get over it and move on. The heartbreak certainly did not allow her to see straight when it came to the men in her life, specifically Zachary, and it did not help that Logan was stringing Wren along, coming in and out of her life.

I wanted Wren to see the greatness of Zachary....I was pulling for Zachary to be the guy that swooped in and made Wren forget all the other jerks. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and in this case, Wren's heart wanted Logan despite the heartache he left her with. And so I was frustrated with Wren...again.
A surprising change in POV placed some perspective on the events surrounding Logan's break up with Wren. Was the new perspective enough to forgive and forget or would the past continue to prevent Wren from finding her HEA?

Patricia's Perspective - This was a good read for me. There was a significant amount of drama that kept me turning the pages and there were a few suspenseful moments that played nicely into the story. However, there were a number of moments when I was perplexed about characters and scenes in the story. Aaron was a potential love interest for Wren, but I did not understand his role in the story. In my opinion, there were too many characters with drama and that detracted from having a deeper understanding of Wren, Logan & Zachary, who were the heart of this story. While I enjoy single POV stories, I think this story would have been less frustrating for me if we had more dual POV.

I loved the spontaneity of Logan. It made him fun and I understand why Wren was so drawn to him. However, I loved Zachary, too. They shared common interests and it was obvious that Zachary was in love with Wren, even if she could not come to that conclusion on her own. Both characters were easy to fall for and in the end, I understand why Wren made the choice she made.

In this debut novel by Bria Starr we meet Wren who has recently left a long term relationship and is learning to find her feet. She moves in with her best friend Cassidy. While living with Cassidy, we follow her through love and loss and heartbreak.
Okay, let's start with what I did like. :)
The author has a good feel for writing dialogue. I felt those parts of the book were really strong. Cassidy was an amazing character. I loved her and loved how she was honest about what she wanted with the men in her life and wasn't afraid to go out and get what she wanted.
Another character I loved was her friend Zachary. I would have jumped all over him and never let go if I were her! For the author's debut book, I felt the writing was pretty good. I would definitely read more from her in the future but would not read any more of this series if there were to be more. I also loved the epilogue where we saw four years into the future. It is a pet peeve of mine to read an epilogue that happens like a month after the book ends. That isn't an epilogue. It is an afterthought. This author did an epilogue the right way and for that, she gets some major applause!
Now onto what I didn't like in this book. :(
First of all is Wren. She has absolutely no backbone in this book and also doesn't react or respond to situations the way I feel ANY other normal female would for the most part. She falls in love with Logan (a hot member of a band), then when that doesn't work out, she immediately begins dating Aaron (who is also a hot member of another band), all while being best friends with Zach (another hot member in a band). Is this girls vagina made of gold and encrusted in diamonds?! I mean really, none of this seems at all plausible in my mind. She isn't described as being all that amazing looking, her personality doesn't seem that great, and she has no self confidence. Maybe I have been going about my life wrong?
Okay moving on.
Logan, yes Logan. He is a total douchebag and she just allows it. Hence, another reason that poor girl needed to grow a backbone. I wish I could rant more but I don't want to give any spoilers away.
So to say I hated the way the book ended would be a major understatement. I do not agree with Wren's decisions but I am not her so I guess I cannot get upset. Also, the little thing that happened with her ex Alec (who was also in love with her still-maybe she had some rubies bedazzled on her hoohah also?) just seemed very forced to me. I felt more in this book needed to be developed to make it a full and complete reading experience for me.

(ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review)

Not sure where to start on this one as for me it’s a book of two halves. It was a difficult read at first and I ended up putting it down and then coming back to it. The book starts off quite slow and I struggled to submerge myself in the plot as I couldn’t feel where the story was going. Which I suppose is unique in that sense as it is different from other books in this genre. Once it got me though I had to keep reading till the end. Even if that did mean staying up to finish it.

Let’s start with Wren. She’s just left a relationship of 3 years after catching her ex cheating and she’s moved in with her best friend. She meets Logan, in the bar she’s working in and they get together. Logan however, doesn’t feel the same and they break up as quickly as they started. Wren just can’t seem to get over him and despite what he does to her she keeps running back. While they are apart there are a few other love interests for Wren but she can’t get her head in the game with them.

Logan works, not sure where or at what but he has a job as well as playing in a local band. When he starts dating Wren it’s not long after he has broken up from a serious relationship and he decides he doesn’t want another relationship tying him down, so he ends it.

I did really enjoy the story but for me there was quite a bit missing from it and I’m not convinced that Wren ended up with the right guy. There were a few areas that were glossed over and if they would have been explored more would have turned this in to a fabulous book. I also struggled to feel the connection between character’s and again with a bit more development in this area the book would have been transformed.

I feel like I have gone off on one and being all negative. What you have to remember is this is my opinion and you may not feel the same. The book has great potential and from the last quarter of it I wouldn’t have put it down it you’d have offered me all the money in the world. There is a chapter where Logan gets his own voice and I think this was the turning point for me. It was placed in the book at the perfect spot and just brought all that side together nicely. From that point on though I needed to understand him more and think he could have done with more of his own voice or either his own book to explain his actions and thoughts better.

Wrenn has left her x-boyfriend, Alec, behind. He cheated on her with a good friend of hers and she moved to a different city and has started over. She’s moving into a house with her BFF Cassidy and they both work together at the local bar. Cassidy full time and Wrenn part time since she works full time running her father’s garage with Zachary.

Zachary is like a brother to her but not sure his feelings for her are exactly brother like. She meets Logan one night while working at the bar and their chemistry is amazing. However, he just left a relationship and isn’t looking for another one. She knows this and keeps him at arms length. But how long can she fight the attraction she has for him? She meets Aaron at the carnival thinking he’s just another guy wondering around. Turns out he’s part of the band they came there to see.

This story is wonderful - different as there’s not one right guy and one right situation. Riley has several guys that attract her attention. Will she choose the brother-like safe choice? The bad boy in Logan that she is completely attracted to or will she give Aaron a chance?

One top of all the relationship issues between these guys Alec isn’t quite done with Wrenn. He’s found her and found where she lives. She’s nervous and a bit scared about lengths he will go to get her back. She’s called the police but without real evidence they can’t really do anything. Thank goodness Wrenn’s brothers taught her how to shoot and she has a small gun she keeps with her whenever possible. Will Alec make the ultimate mistake and do something to Wrenn that can’t be changed?

I really enjoyed this book. In one word it’s interesting. It kept my attention with the bit of drama and the mystery in her x, Alec. It’s not about sex (although there is some of that) it’s mainly about relationships. Letting go of the past and trusting the future. There is an epilogue and I have to say – it was my favorite part of the book. After reading how Wrenn and Cassidy find their men, I needed the closure of the epilogue. Your Exception is a truly great book and I highly recommend!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute story and I liked most of the characters. I really liked Zach and Cassidy the most. I think they really brought some life to the story.

Personally I wasn't the biggest fan of Wren. She claims to be this outspoken person who never puts up with any crap, but that seems to be what she continuously does. And also, for someone as out spoken as she claims to be, sure does get embarrassed pretty easily. I don't know, I just didn't really like her in the story, and she kept going back and forth between Zach and Logan, but claimed she didn't know how Zach felt. UMM open your eyes woman, its plain as day how he feels. It just irritated me that she never actually said what she was thinking, if she did, it probably would have saved herself a lot of drama.

Then there was Logan. He was kind of a dick, but what I expected for a rocker. He did lead Wren on several times, but I can't put all the blame on him, she let him do it. I did however really like him throughout the book; he was true to himself and what he wanted at the time. Then when he wanted something else, he went after it. He changed his ways once he decided he wanted Wren back, he would do whatever he needed to do to get her back into his arms.

Ahh Zach.. I really loved him! He was such a sweet guy and would be the ultimate boyfriend. He’s the perfect mix of bad boy and gentleman, and could melt your heart with a smile. He would do anything for the people he loves, and Wren just happens to be one of them. He’s tired of seeing her with those sad eyes; he wants to make her happy and is hoping she will let him.

Who will Wren decide to be with? Who will make her the happiest she’s ever been? Does she go back to Logan, even though he’s already broken her heart once? Or does she go with Zach, someone who will treat her the way she deserves to be treated? You’ll just have to read the story to find out.

I was really enjoying this book and thought it was progressing nicely. I understood why Wren was holding herself back from Logan and really liked his persistence. But I knew something was going to happen, it was all happening too soon, I kept on reading wondering if Wren’s fears were going to come true. Then right when things start heating up the author slams the door right in your face and it’s the next day. The sex was earth shattering according to Wren. This was a huge disappointment to me, not because the author chose not to include an explicit scene there was NOTHING. No emotion, no thoughts, nada. Just the next day. This dropped this book in rating for me. Yet I trucked on because I wanted to know what happened and thought just maybe she wasn’t ready to express that part yet.

Then this incredibly hot guy I was really liking turned into a weak man and I couldn’t understand why Wren was holding on and running to him every time he called. Especially when she had another hottie right there picking her up when she fell. My heart broke for Zachary because he was losing to someone who didn’t deserve the love and devotion Wren was giving him.

When things happen and Logan opens his eyes and decided to man up I kind of saw his point, but I still felt he was weak. The best part of this book was the epilogue that was when I really felt their connection again and it saved the book for me. It wasn’t that it was a bad book there was so much potential here to be a terrific read and I really felt let down.

Wren is just coming out of a long term relationship after finding out her boyfriend had been cheating on her. As she works at a restaurant that also has live bands at night she meets Logan, a gorgeous blue eyed guitar player. But this time around she tries to be more cautious of being with someone and when Logan starts blowing her off she realizes she let her heart get involved again. As she's trying to get over him she meets a member of another band Aaron and while he seems great she's not sure she's ready to put herself out there again. With so much confusion the one guy that's there for Wren is Zachary he works at the auto shop with her and they have been friends for a long time. When her ex comes back into the picture threatening her which of her would be suitors will be there for her and who really holds her heart?

I liked the basic storyline of this one. That being said I thought the characters could have used more to their background stories. I kept wondering who they really were beyond the basic stuff we learned about them. Everyone seemed one dimensional, and there was no real depth. I kept trying to figure out why Wren did things the way she did and allowed herself to be trampled on at certain points. The characters also seemed a little Juvenile, not really having a set path even though they were in their mid-upper twenties.

So what did I like about the characters. I loved the humor some brought throughout the story and how Wren didn't just settle just because there was someone else there. She didn't end up with my favorite guy, but she stuck to her guns and didn't let anyone push her around and tell her who she should end up with. Yea everyone gave their opinions, but she did things her way.

I liked Your Exception, but i wanted more, more from the interactions between Logan and Wren, especially at the beginning of their 'relationship'. (There is no explicit Sex in this, it is mentioned, but not described.)

Some things are glossed over....as if Wren was writing in a journal, or if Bria knew what the characters were doing, saying, thinking, but I guess I didn't and i wanted to know more.....needed to, to get involved, but this is just my opinion.

Considering Wren told Logan that her last boyfriend was a cheating pig, Logan didn't treat her a great deal better, eventually telling her it isn't you....and leaving her as he didn't want to be committed. Bad Boy...come in Zach!!!

I was routing for Zach, her friend and work colleague, the kind, sexy one who was also in a band! He was there for her to watch movies with and I got more from this relationship, more detail and i think that was maybe why i was cheering for these two so much??

There is a third Rocker who crosses Wren's path...he provides a little entertainment, however, i don't know really if he could have been in it more to make a difference or not at all to fill the story with more detail from the other characters.....

For me, the last half of the book is where it really picks up, I loved it when we had a switch to Logan's Pov, it would have been nice to have more of that......Wren's best friend Cassidy also provides some entertainment, she is lol funny and loves her Men!

A good first novel. I will read more from Bria.....

I seem to be on a streak of male leads named Logan….
I love Wren- she is no-nonsense, strong and capable. Does not need saving at all! But she wants love- not what she realized she had been settling for the last three years.
I wanted to love Logan more than I did. But the constant wishy-washy and straight up jerk behavior towards Wren made me crazy. As soon as I started rooting for him he would do something so out-of-bounds it made me crazy. Wren too. And her family.
There are three other romantic interests- but Zach and Aaron are firmly in the friend zone and Alex is crazy. Wren is not able to get over Logan, even when he disappoints her time and time again. What do you do when you know you have met the ONE, but it just doesn’t come together?? You drive yourself nuts like Wren does throughout the book trying to decipher what is going on with Logan. She has her best friend and roommate telling her to move on, her aunt telling her he isn’t worth it and her family worried sick about her.
But the heart wants what the hearts wants, right??
She wants the one that is her exception to all of the “rules”. The one that knows her best, will love her best and be there for her. Will Logan be that one?
I go back and forth with my final thoughts on this book. It was funny and sweet and sometimes painful in its honesty to read.

I thought this was a great debut for author Bria Starr! There was good romance, hot local rockstars all over the place, fun friends, trouble-making family members and dramatic ex’s!

Poor Wren was heartbroken trying to get over her ex, you know the one you think you have forever with until he goes and cheats on you with a supposed friend. Trying to get her life back on track and moving in with her bff, Cassidy and working at the bar her family works at, she runs into Logan.

Logan is with his band trying to set up a regular schedule at this local bar, running into Wren, there’s just something about her. He doesn’t think he’s ready for a relationship or deserves a happily ever after.

Wren’s just trying to get her life back in order but is Logan just what she needs? But what happens when her good guy friend Zachary is sending mixed signals about wanting more than just friendship?

I really enjoyed this story and liked Wren and Logan with the other characters. I thought Logan was such a sweetheart at the end. No relationship is perfect but once you realize you got your other half, there’s no going back and Logan made that a point to prove to Wren after all he put her through in their past together.

I think this is a good debut book for Bria Starr. There was some romance, sexy men, musicians, some drama, and some great sex scenes.

Wren is trying to put her life back together after a traumatic break up with her boyfriend who had been cheating on her with one of her friends. What a loser, she's better off without him. She's working at a bar with her best friend Cassidy. There, she meets Logan, the guitarist for a band that wants to have some shows at the bar where she works. She captures Logan's eye almost immediately but she's not sure she's ready.

At one point, we finally get a couple chapters from Logan's point of view. I was so glad to see the author provide them because up to that point, I wasn't really rooting for him, he did some really unforgivable things to Wren. I would have preferred to have Wren choose the guy she works with (and friend), Zach. He seemed way better for her than Logan. However, once I got some of Logan's point of view. I understood his actions a little better and I was torn as to who I thought she should be with.

I'm not going to tell you who she chose in the end, you'll have to read to find out.

I was provided a copy of this book as part of a blog tour.

Has anyone ever watched or read the book, He's Just Not That Into You? Well this is where the lead female gets her turning point moment with her view to her relationships. The one who is 'into you' will make you the exception and do what he may not otherwise have done.

This is her eureka moment after a disastrous relationship of 3 years and a relationship of 3 months with the one Wren had thought felt right. Only problem being those men just will not let her move on. Her ex of three years keeps blowing up her phone with messages and texts while Logan, the guy of 3 months, keeps popping up wherever she is and asking her round.

The only reason that I dropped a star for this story was that I really, really did not like Logan, I thought he was a self-centred ass!! Zach on the other hand I was routing for and was gutted when the author went the traditional route of a HEA with Logan, from how he had read in the story, or at least until the chapter written from his POV, I just didn't see that happening. Even after this I was crossing my fingers that Wren would see the light and choose Zach instead. Oh well!!

All in all a good read and worth giving it a go, you may well like Logan, I just didn't!

I have to say, that for the first time I’m officially at a loss for words. I didn’t love the book but I also didn’t dislike it either. I truly thought it was ok. Honestly, I felt more of a connection with Wren and Zack who is her best guy friend, than I did with Wren and Logan. The way Wren and Zack communicated and how they reacted to one another had me invested. I was excited with anticipation to think she would wake up and open her eyes to what was right in front of her. I was taken by surprise when my predictions were wrong.

The way Logan treated Wren, left me feeling like he gave her nothing but broken promises. The sexual chemistry between these two was the only connection I felt but that can only go so far. I loved the character of Wren and how she is independent, strong, speaks her mind, and isn’t afraid to do so. With that being said I was left confused as to what made the connection so strong for Logan.

Overall I have to say I like Bria’s writing style. The dialogue between the characters kept me hooked. The way she wrote Wren’s best friend made me feel like the author was describing me. I truly loved her. I just wouldn’t rate this book as one of my favorites.

I really enjoyed this story!

Wren has been heart broken and is still trying to get over her ex and everything he did to hurt her. She moves back home to be closer to her family and moves in with her best mate Cassidy, they both work at the local bar that Wren’s family own. While working one night she is approached by Logan, tattooed rock star and sports fanatic, he is drawn to her and befriends her and she falls.

Wren gets to take her pick from Logan, Zachary and Aaron especially when Logan decides to break her heart all over again but by Logan doing that it only makes her stronger but the question is Who will she end up with?

This book was a great read I was pulled in from the start. The characters are fantastic and are written very well. Bria Starr has done a fantastic job for her debut novel I look forward to reading more from her.

This is an absolute must read. It really is that simple. If you have ever loved with your whole heart this is the book for you. If you have ever loved someone so much your whole life's path was changed- then this is the book for you. If you rewrite your love story over and over again in your head or maybe you are living your love story - this is the book for you. If you are like me and believe there really is ONLY ONE TRUE LOVE IN A LIFETIME- you know the one you cant explain: the one that breaks your heart just to own more of it- than this is the book for you.
I was so impressed with every element of this book. An accurate description is excellent read! Take all the normal concerns and questions for a book and I would answer with a positive response. Grab some tissues because there are lots of emotions with this one. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hoping for more from this wonderful author. AndreaAH

Your Exception was a solid first book from Bria Starr. I absolutely fell in love with Wren and there were various times while reading that I wanted to strangle several of the men in her life. I think why I loved this book is that it was so realistic, it reminded me what it was like to be twenty something and looking for love and usually looking in the wrong places. There were parts that made me cringe, not because they were bad, but because I remember doing something similar and I’m sure it didn’t turn out half as well. That Wren gets her HEA made me smile, and I was excited for her. I thought this was a great book and quite enjoyed it and I’m glad that it fell into my lap. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Starr has up her sleeve for a next book, hoping it’s Zachary or Cassidy’s story.

I really wanted to like this book and to a degree I did. The main character Wren, is a girl who has had her heart broken in the past by her ex. And she is moving on and meets Logan this guy in a band. She seems to fall for him fast but of course he doesn't know what he wants and says he just wants to be friends. Ugh! Wren is heart broken yet again. She has a friend Zachary who of course is in love with her but of course she doesn't see him that way. Wren just seems to drive you crazy. She is still hooked on Logan and can't stop think about him. It goes on and on and back and forth. She does end up with a guy by the end of the book but you really want to choke her throughout the book. The story I feel is to drawn out. I did like it but felt myself skimming through so of the story to just hurry up.

Your Exception was a good story about a girl trying to find someone to love her and make her a priority. I laughed, I cried, and became really frustrated while reading. The author did a wonderful job making her characters realistic, because I wanted to reach in and shake some sense into Wren. That girl put up with way to much crap when a great guy was in front of her the whole time!
Wren is pulled between two men though out the story. Zachary, her best "guy" friend, and Logan member of a local rock band. She is still recovering from a break up with her ex that had cheated on her.
She is pulled this way and that and put in a dangerous situation. Who will she end up giving her heart to? The journey is rocky but a good ending (if you were pulling for the right guy)
