As the Angel, Purity, comes to Cleanse Tempestria of all sapient life, the Guardians are surrounded by echoes in Time, forcing them to revisit some of the most critical moments of their lives. It seems as if Time itself is tempting them, as they look back and see how far they have come, before they face a future where nothing is certain…even the past. They learn that even attempting to defeat an Angel carries enormous risks, leaving them with a terrible choice: Surrender the future to Purity’s burning Light, or stand against her and risk the erasure of all time and space. Events are coming full circle, and perhaps, despite all their victories, some things are inevitable. This is the story of The Salvation of Tempestria, as told by an immortal girl from the future using an Illegal Time Intervention to save the world…or possibly end it.

While studying for my B.Sc. in Chemistry, I met a friend who introduced me to fantasy fiction, especially TSR, AD&D type books. Despite all I've read since, that remains my frame of reference for the fantasy genre.
My Salvation of Tempestria of Series, beginning with Shifting Stars is rooted in a updated version of that kind of fantasy world. But it's just 1 world within a wider sci-fi/fantasy universe and the story is told by an immortal girl from the future with a plan to save the world...or possibly end it.

Circular Time by Gary Stringer is an absolute treat of epic fantasy.
It is always a delight diving into the Salvation of Tempestria series, and the author does not disappoint in this book. Stringer weaves an intricate tale packed with adventure, drama, sci-fi, suspense, humor, and expansive, impressive world-building.
In their current quest to save Tempestria, the stakes could never be higher. The Guardians are faced with two choices, and in each, the fate of the cosmos hangs in the balance.
Apart from choosing wisely, they must also rise to the challenge despite nursing broken hearts, risk their lives in dangerous, must-do rituals, and hope they make no errors as they face Purity.
The balance between the cast’s personal lives and the story’s external conflict is so good that you will feel the weight of each decision and action with every flip of the page, from the start to the end. For fans of Avengers: Infinity War, this read is right up your alley.
I highly recommend reading the previous installments to enjoy this page-turner. I loved it.
Gary Stringer somehow outdoes himself again, bringing us another over the top epic battle across time with Circular Time! The angel Purity has come to cleanse Tempestria of all life, and the only thing standing in the way is the Guardians. Now the Guardians must travel back through time, revisiting critical moments throughout the epic series in their attempt to stop the apocalyptic deity. Stringer always manages to have really awesome villains and deep heroes, so this book was a delight seeing both amplified. Purity was a fascinating villain, being both ‘good’ in a sense but also an unstoppable force of apocalyptic destruction. It was also really fun seeing the Guardians revisit critical moments from the whole series, getting to explore them in new ways and deepen the characters. It felt like a nice love letter to the whole series (a series I’ve loved reading over the years), yet it’s a nice standalone introduction to the series too if you’re just jumping on now. All around, if you love a good blend of sci fi and fantasy, with some cool time travel and paradoxes thrown in, definitely come battle an angel with Circular Time!
An inventive redemption tale narrated by an immortal girl from the future. The high concept premise and flashes of genuine originality are compelling, but momentum sags under long, uninterrupted stretches of narration that read more like summary than scene. I struggled to connect with the cast because the dialogue often floats without action beats or sensory grounding, leaving characters’ emotions and stakes at arm’s length. There’s real ambition here, yet the execution blunts its impact. Tightening the exposition and anchoring conversations in physical behavior and setting would help.
