She's a human. How could she be his true mate? _____________
This werewolf shifter BBW romance collection is over 100,000 words long, has some naughty language, and a lot of naughty sex.
Aubrey Rose lives in sunny San Diego, where she likes to lay around in a hammock reading her favorite romances. When she’s not writing steamy stories, she can be found dancing naked in front of the mirror to Abba while her cat watches disdainfully.
Blind Wolf is another great read by Aubrey Rose. It has taken me a while to finish it, and that is not because I didn’t enjoy it, but more that it is the type of book you can put down and go back to and remember exactly where you are and what’s going on.
I am not a huge PNR reader, not because I don't enjoy it, but I just sometimes find it all a bit too overly technical in its explanations as to who can do what and why/how they do it. None of that with Blind Wolf, you knew what they were and what they could do, but it got straight to the point without being overly descriptive.
Oddly I also have a soft spot for Blind guys in my romance novels and Damien had just the right mix of wolfy dominance and alpha tendencies, while being all aquiver for Julia.
Well worth a read if you like a bit of howling with your sexy times!
ARC provided via Netgalley, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.
Compared to other less than intense/intriguing writing in this genre, I wouldn't say that it was awful. Cos it's not. But the characters and their plights just weren't interesting or gripping to me.
In the beginning of the 1st book our lead Alpha Wolf Hero Damien, gives the tease of mysterious, strong, sexy, alluring & maybe even a little sweet, but this is quickly taken away simply due to under development of his character. And over the course of the 4 books, it doesn't get better.
Our heroine Julia seems so out of place it's not even funny. Her character, IMO didn't mesh well at all not only with our hero, but this story/series period. There is nothing remarkable or memorable about her. Plus, she whined way too much for my tastes.
Then we have the Alpha Pack of "Misfits" & the "Threat(s)" Which are no more developed or intriguing than their main character counterparts. Now the reveal of Julia's history was a bit interesting, I will say. It was an interesting twist concerning Shifters & the history of Shifters in general concerning this particular story. Sadly it just wasn't expounded upon enough.
By the time I reached the 3rd book, I was really just wanting to hurry up & finish. Get through the 4th book and then be done. These books aren't long, but the overall non interest I felt made them feel as though they dragged on forever.
You do get Dual POV's in each book between Julia & Damien. And a decent amount of "real time" dialogue/action with all the characters, which is a plus. You're not stuck in anyone's head for long periods of time. And there was a very touching moment between Damien & his best friend, Jordan, toward the end of the final book. The final battle scene was mildly gripping but that's about it. But sadly these are the only Pros that I can give you regarding this series.
I think what turned me off to this one is everything seemed so dangerous and intense in the headlines, but once you get in the meat of the story, it's just a flutter of what it should be. Like things are just happening for the sake of happening. And nothing is really poignant in it's reveals. Like you're just going through the motions and that's it. So because of this, it didn't work for me. And I wouldn't recommend this read.
But if you are going to read it, I would suggest you get the 4 box set because the books are very brief. It wouldn't be worth buying them separately.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
These stories were action-packed, romantic, and even a little dark. There were a lot of revelations that come up quickly one after another, leading to a fast paced read.
Julia and Damian are a human and werewolf in love. They appear to be destined for each other in some way that this story calls the “Calling”. I’m not sure exactly what age Julia is supposed to be, but if she’s not very young, she comes across pretty sheltered. She certainly is brave, though, in all the fight scenes and craziness that surrounds her. The devotion she has for Damien is also clear, as she quickly overlooks any sort of negatives associated with him eventually turning into a wolf.
After all the trials and tribulations in this book set, I really thought Julia would turn into more of the tough chick heroine that I've come to desire in most of my paranormal reading. I guess Damien and Julia kind of balance each other out, with both of them a little timid about their feelings, decisions, and lives in general. The only thing Damien seems really sure of is Julia, and sometimes Julia isn't even that sure about him.
I guess the newness of their relationship should be taken into consideration because this string of books all takes place in a very limited amount of time. Julia and Damien go from meeting each other, to hooking up, to getting married/mated, and wanting to start a family pretty much right away. With mating, I usually give these couples a free pass. The romance is there and the steamy scenes are there, too, but my heart broke for Damien every time Julia would fight against him.
I'm glad there was a lot of closure in the series by the end of these books, but was really sad to say goodbye to one of my favorites. I really wish there was a HEA for everyone. I was completely convinced that there would be very little HEA, but the author really spun things around at the end. All in all, it was a really unique set of books in the paranormal romance genre.
I am always up for trying another shifter romance and get excited over the promise of a new world, new characters and a new plot. The promise of a physically challenged alpha wolf grabbed my interest for the most part and I'm happy to say that I was pleased with the character. This is a box set. The mind immediately runs to novel-length books, but in reality it felt more like one book written in a four part serial. The series ended up being a good read overall offering both typical and unique features.
The first story, Blind Wolf, is the set up story introducing the characters, the setting and bits of the world-building. A small rag-tag werewolf pack of misfits and rejects have banded together to feel the sense of pack and the protection being together offers. They have been searching for some time to find a place unclaimed by larger, stronger packs that offers them somewhere to run and create a pack home. They find it in a small college town, but the old bed and breakfast inn is owned by a human lady and her granddaughter. They are having financial troubles so the wolves decide to buy them out. The moment the blind pack alpha encounters the young librarian who is granddaughter of the inn's owner, he experiences a pull toward her. If she had been a wolf, he would have thought it was the true mate calling, but wolves don't bond to humans. Still, he can't keep away from her and this causes friction in the pack. Damien doesn't place the packs' need first for once and follows his instinct, but the reveal of his other nature and his original purpose for being there is too much for Julia and she is determined to cut him loose. Danger lurks and Julia discovers that she has a need for a big, bad blind wolf after all.
The second part, Perfect Mate, picks up right were the last one left off. Julia seemed to accept who and what Damien is and she made noises like she wanted to be with him, but for a good part of this segment she spent the time wallowing about being different, being left alone when the pack went out and getting shrewish because Damien could read her emotions. There is a nice plot thread when the pack and Julia discover that she is much more than she seems and other packs will want to take her from Damien when they find out. Betrayal happens and sends everyone racing into danger.
Part three is Human Shifter. Julia wants children, she wants to be a member of Damien's pack and then there is the worry of others finding them now to take her away. After the battle with the purebred alpha, they get a new pack member who is not integrating easily and may even go for a pack takeover or at the very least try to run off and tell what she knows about Julia. Julia learns that there maybe a way to get her wish, but it is dangerous. Damien has to make the decision to let his mate go on her quest without him or hold her back and watch their relationship continue to unravel.
The final segment, Alpha's Child, brings it all home in a smashing finish. There is just more intensity, more emotion, and more passion. It ended up being my favorite of the four. Something mysterious is going on to make Damien doubt himself and his ability to lead and protect his pack. The little underdog pack experiences loss and sorrow when they encounter their enemies once again. The final challenge for Damien and Julia is huge and the cost is high.
Now as to what I thought about the stories? Most aspects of them were good. The worldbuilding got a bit vague on stuff like the mysterious werewitch that kept popping up. There was no real explanation of why she did what she did particularly in the last book or a really good description of her and her abilities. The shifter mythology and beliefs was pretty cool and I loved that unique twist about them eventually staying wolf when they got older. The danger from the other packs pitted against this little rag-tag group was a nice dynamic. I loved the development of the pack's personalities and their side stories. Again, so much to enjoy.
The part I didn't like most of the time was Julia. This girl was demanding, self-centered, and immature. If she wasn't making Damien miserable over stuff he couldn't control, she was doing stupid moves and making ill-thought demands that placed others in danger. It was always 'I want, I want, I want'. She said she loved Damien, but her demanding petulance and her insistence that he was lying all the time made it really hard to swallow that she felt anything more than 'I have a mate so I'm no longer a reject and I love how he loves me' status. I did try to see where she was coming from and I got it that she wanted to be a true partner for her mate and a real member of the pack and have a family, but my sympathy was gone when her motives were always selfish and demanding. I really don't recall a time when she acted in the interest of others. There's these moments when she's in danger or she sees the others in danger where she has an attack of the should-haves, but it never prevents her from leaping before she looks the next time. All this would have been forgiven if I had seen any growth in her from the beginning to the end, but seriously, all I saw was her staying the same and people enabling her.
Damien, the blind werewolf, was the refreshing side of the story. He makes dealing with his mate worth it. The poor guy would not normally be an alpha in a regular pack, but he steps up because even blind, he is stronger than the others he and his friend Jordan pick up along the way. Damien made a mistake that cost him his sight and his place in his old pack, but he is never bitter. He is selfless and nurturing. He is a gentle alpha who leads, but doesn't lead unreasonably or with an iron fist. He doesn't understand this thing with Julia, but he trusts and follows his heart. He tries to instill confidence and acceptance for herself in her so she will see how lovely he finds her and how he cherishes finding his mate. Honestly, the only thing I didn't like about him was that he seemed so concerned about keeping Julia happy that he didn't call her on her unreasonable behavior. Damien's willingness to face any amount of danger for Julia not letting his physical limitation excuse him was so worthy of a true hero. I loved his camaraderie with Jordan and to speak truth I think Jordan was a better match for him and would have made him happier.
To pull it all together, the stories were worth it to get the werewolf culture, Damien and the good action scenes, not so much for the heroine. Others who enjoy steamy shifter romance should check these out.
My thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read these in exchange for my honest review.
Blind Wolf For some reason I seriously liked this story. A pack of "disabled" and outcast shifters are searching for a new place to settle and start their pack the way it should be. Damien is their leader and with a pack of four, and one female, as Alpha it's his duty to mate with the lone female and start the pack.
While researching his new area, he goes to the library and experiences something he never expected, his calling. The finding of his true mate.
Julia is constantly being teased, made fun of, and is constantly struggling with her weight, her job, and the losing of her grandmother's house. At work she comes into contact with a blind man that just blows her away. Instantly there is lust at first sight.
Damien is blind but that doesn't mean he can't feel everything Julia is feeling, see how feels her emotions. However a problem arises when he realizes she's human, not wolf. He works to avoid her but simply can't stay away. She finds out what he truly is and after some time, working with the pack, and other forces they come together and realize they are made for each other.
Perfect Mate This can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading Blind Wolf first to know how Julia and Damien met and got to where they were today. We join them in this story as Julia accepts the shifters and learns there is another pack who wants her. She's more than she seems. But what is she?
Damien will do anything to protect her but realizes there are things he can't do on his own. Grandma Dee is carrying her own secrets and will stop at nothing to keep them apart. But why? I really enjoyed reading this and finding out all the little betrayals, twists, and turns. I wish there was more!
Human Shifter
We rejoin Damien and Julia as they are all settling down into Julia's house. Kyle and Katherine are working on building their own cabin for privacy, Jordan is building his own shelter, and Julia and Katherine are working on planning out what they are going to go to college for. That's not even the start of this novella.
Damien and Julia both want to start a family. Before Julia never realized how bad she would want to until the possibility of it not happening thanks to her not being able to change would cause. She wants to go see the werewitch that suppressed her ability in the first place but Damien doesn't want her to do it alone. Dee doesn't want her to go at all because the were witch still lives in Trax's territory.
You have to read what happens, because you have to remember that Damien spared Mara, one of Trax's females, what will happen when she tries to acclimate to the pack? How will the others handle her? Will Julia be able to handle it when Damien physically responds to Mara? And will Julia find out why she can't shift and become pregnant?
Alpha's Child Well, that was...something. I thought I liked this series but it feels like it could have seriously used something. As a mini series this was lacking, but it it could be reworked into a whole story it would have had some seriously potential to be phenomenal.
This is my first read by this author and this has been sitting in my Kindle for awhile now and I don’t even know why. I like paranormal genre but can’t say that that is my all time favorite but there are times that I need to get away from just romance stories between humans. I love shifter stories because I love seeing how the alpha’s lead their packs and how long it will take them to find their true love, their mate. In this story it didn’t take very long for Damien to realize that he found that one person that would complete him but Julia a human at least that is what he thought. He couldn’t smell her but why was she having such strong feelings for him. The Calling was happening to both of them but she didn’t feel worthy because she wasn’t like him, he was able to read her emotions and when that love grew stronger also her thoughts. When she found out the truth she wanted to know if she was broken what if she couldn’t have children and they wanted to start a family. When Damien starts feeling something wrong, sensing that someone is out in the woods he fears for Julia’s safety. He should have told her the truth but he didn’t and that’s when everything starts to fall apart.
Blind Wolf was an interesting story that had a good pace. I love it when the storyline is interesting and I get lost in the characters. I love the detail in the story and the dialogue between the characters. They truly seemed like they were a pack even though Katherine at times tested the waters and then when they picked up another wolf Mara. Mara was a little strange but I think she came along. I have to say that at the end my tears could not stop falling it was so sad I never thought that he would end up leaving the pack the way he did. Then there is the werewitch and what she did I couldn’t believe it was she truly redeemed herself. I loved Julia’s grandmother and how protective she was with her daughter but she was also a very strong wolf.
Well what can I say about Damien but even though he was a blind alpha he was a great leader. He led his pack differently than other packs but hey it worked for him. I love that he was able to adapt to his surroundings and that he loved his bestfriend, even though his bestfriend was in love with him. Then there is Julia she was a shy young girl that wanted to find the one. So when she ran into Damien at the library she knew that he was the one but he was already taken. I love that she stood her ground when she had to and that she was able to get over her fear of Damien when she found out what he was.
Do I recommend this book of course; it was suspenseful and full of love. The chemistry between the two main characters was hot and steamy. There were some intense moments just like there were some emotional parts and that’s what I loved. The love that they had was very magical at the very end and totally loved the ending.

This was an interesting box set. The four boos that make up the set are really 4 short stories (about 80 pages each). I enjoyed the idea of a girl with a bit more curves than your average blond getting the hunk. The story has some skips and jumps where there was background information that would have been great to fill in the dots and make a better story line. Also, the 4 stories are not stand alone stories. They continue along and read just like another chapter of just one big. There is little or no background information given at the beginning of each book, so they are not stand alone books.
There were some elements of the story that were just too far fetched to be believable. It left me with question marks and distracted me from really getting involved with the characters and the story. Damien is a blind wolf and alpha of his small pack of misfits. He meets Julia a librarian and immediately recognizes her as his mate, but this is impossible because wolves do not mate with humans. After two dates (one during her lunch break) he breaks up with the wolf he is engaged to and makes her his mate. He keeps saying how impossible the mating would be since wolves do not mix with humans. The pack immediately accepts Julia with no comment or animosity? There had to be at least some conflict for the plot to be realistic. Also, Damien lied to Julia about being a wolf and about being engaged to be married so she is angry and doesn't trust him, but within the next few pages she is mated and committed to this stranger she doesn't know and is afraid of. These inconsistencies was very confusing for me, and it tended to distract me from really enjoying the story.
Overall, I this is a really good box set that any paranormal romance lover will really enjoy. The plot is entertaining, and by the second book there is a great mysterious secret about Julia's past that emerges and it really captures your imagination and keeps you glued to each page to figure out what it is. If you like paranormal romance, I definitely recommend this book.
The complete Blind Wolf series in one boxed set is a werewolf romance that keeps readers on their toes and captures their heart. Damien, a blind Alpha that leads a ragtag pack of misfit wolves and while trying to find a place to settle finally feels the Calling for a mate of this own, only she’s human … or is she. Julia is a shy lonely young woman who finally meets her Prince Charming only he’s a werewolf and she doesn’t really fit in with the pack.
This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of action, suspense and romance. The author brings the story to life with vivid imagery, details and strong compelling characters that capture the imagination. Each installment of the series has its own conflicts that build the anticipation and suspense throughout. Julia learns things about her past and must accept herself before she can achieve her goals. Damien must protect his pack as well as provide for it all the while fighting the wolves that believe the weak shouldn’t be allowed to live or that they should take what they want.
The attraction between Julia and Damien is instantaneous and lots of steamy sex, but their relationship slowly builds as the couple overcomes several obstacles and fight for their very lives. The author conveys the emotional turmoil of the pack and the couple with such intensity that the reader can’t help but get caught up in their stories. Some intense and emotional scenes brings tears and smiles to the reader as the drama unfolds for this couple and their hardships inspire admiration in their strength as they defeat them.
I read each of the first three installments before and each one was enjoyable however I must say that I like reading them all together much better, because I prefer the whole story to little bits at a time. Whichever you way you decide to read the story of the blind wolf and his mate it is a wonderful and heart-warming romance story.
Damien is a blind alpha leading a ragtag bunch of misfit werewolves looking for a place to call home. When they hit the small town where Julia lives they think they might just be home. When Damien meets Julia he feels “the calling” the chemical and emotional feelings that mean he has met his mate but werewolves can’t don’t mate with humans. Turns out there is more to Julia than even she knows. With Damien, her grandmother, and the pack Julia is tasked with becoming all she can be she just has to stay alive long enough to do it. I am glad I was able to get all four of these in one collection because I think if I had read them separately I would have gotten frustrated and given up. Reading them all in a row gave a sense of continuity that didn’t leave me as frustrated. This collection is a sexy paranormal romance with a bit of epic fantasy thrown in for good measure. The author challenged me, made me laugh, cry and reach for a fan. All in all a good read.
I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book was a bit different than most of the shifter books I have read but I really liked it.
Damien is a blind wolf, alpha of a somewhat motley crew of misfits. Julia lives with her grandmother & works at the local college library. They meet when Damien comes in to pick up a couple of audio books. Julia has had a tough day & her nerves are a bit frayed so she snaps at him when he first approaches her. When she turns around & sees that he is blind she feels bad for snapping at him & takes him where he needs to go. When they touch they both feel a spark. Julia isn't sure why and Damien is confused because he thinks it's the Calling, but Julia is human, or is she?
Damien & his pack are looking for a place to settle & think they have found the perfect place. Julia & her grandmother are about to lose their home to the bank & are trying to save it. Is this a recipe for disaster?
Aubrey Rose did a great job with this story & I look forward to reading more books by her.

Being a persnickety lover of Paranormal Romance Fiction and Urban Fantasy, I found this book to be a decent read, and captivating in parts, but not totally captivating.
Normally when I read a PNR/UF book, I want to be dazzled and amazed, so much so, to the point where I am compelled to blaze my way through it.
The emotional aspect of this story was nice, but it still needed a little more oomph in the way of better character & storyline development, and not to mention, a much needed infusion of stronger paranormal elements.
Although it didn't rock my world, I found it to be a nice way to spend a few hours on Sunday afternoon.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to give up on Ms Rose - I tried one of her other books, then I tried this, but she's just not for me. I'm afraid I like my stories to have a bit more substance. There are a lot of werewolf series out there, and I'm sorry but this one hits the bottom of the list for me.
I wanted to like it, I really did - I was really intrigued by the idea of a disabled werewolf. But Ms Rose didn't make that work well for me, and her poor heroine got an even rougher ride. I read two of the 4 novellas in the set, then gave up. The magic just wasn't there.
As always with a non-good review I like to point out that it is a matter of personal opinion and you should give it a chance yourself before forming your own opinion. Copy supplied by netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. Julia works in the library, she stocks shelves and what ever else her boss tells her to do. One day a gentleman comes to her for assistance. He is blind and looking for audio books. Julia helps him find what he needs but when he touches her arm, there is a shock that runs through her. He is very handsome and out of her league, or so she thinks. Damien is a shifter and his attraction to Julia is the Calling, when wolves are to be mates. What will happen when Julia learns that Damien is a wolf? Can she accept that? What will she do when she learns the truth about her past? This is another great story by Aubrey Rose and it is full of twist and turns and will consume you.
I enjoy boxsets a lot more than stand alone books because you can dive into the next book right off without waiting. And Damien, is just all sorts of 'I need the next book now' type of man so I'm really glad I got the boxset. I like how he's independent, "the stairs will be fine. I'm blind, not crippled," the mad said, a half-smile dimpling his cheek." Julia is no damn pushover let me tell you what, "there's nothing to talk about," Julia said. "You came here and flirted with me, kissed me, all the while you're engaged to someone else?" Damien is the type of man to tease when he's injured, "don't worry," Damien said. "The rest of me is in perfect health. And I do mean perfect." He slid his hand around Julia's waist, and she leaned over to kiss him."
sooo..... it's like between 3 -4 and then 2-3.... sometimes the story was good and picked up some pace and the other times was it bleeh...
in overall the storyline is very good vlid wold fall in love with hidden shifter.... heel yeah i'm on it!! but .... yeah there is a but... and I enjoyed it although sometimes I was like I wanted to end.. and the almost cliffy at the end and the epilogue... was nice but too much for few pages..
But I like this author, so I will read some more of hers :)

I really enjoy paranormal love stories, I mean whats not to love right? This had some good things and some things just didn't do it for me within the story and characters aspect. The alpha was blind but held his own in a fight and Julia was a human when the calling came between the two characters. With not giving anything more away the writing was good and I enjoyed the mini series of the 4 books. I would recommend this to the werewolves paranormal lovers out there.
This set is so interesting. Damien is blind and yet is the alpha of the pack. Without giving too much away, each book is a continuation of the story, and in Alpha's Child, I could not stop turning the pages! Aubrey created such a tone of mystery and suspense and desperation, and I could not read the pages fast enough! If you are a fan of not only paranormal love but paranormal ROMANCE, then you will love this set!!!
spoiler Review. I loved that each book was a shorter book... made for fast reading! I quickly fell in love with the blind wolf. I felt bad for Jordan. He was in love with the alpha (the hero) and ..well I won't ruin everything for you. But I understand why things happened. Still a good read!! I escaped reality for a while. I gave it 4 stars because I didn't accept the fighting between the Damien & Julia; I wish it was more intense, or for a more important reason. I recommend this one!
I think this story was okay. I was a little disappointed at how weak the alpha was. He was always getting injured and he was so easy to forgive everyone. I think the grandma was tougher than Damien. Why kill off Jordan? Truth be told, he was my favorite character in the story. I guess it was a good ending at least for a bunch of misfits.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the story carried itself well throughout all four books. Damien, what a strong character for be the alpha of the pack and blind. Julia was very down to earth, a character I think anyone can relate to. There was the perfect amount of romance and action in the book. I will be looking for more by this author.
These 4 stories are a series and complete the series. As the title says, the alpha is blind. He is searching for territory for his really small pack. He finds his mate. In Perfect Mate Damien and his mate say their vows. In Human Shifter Damien's mate hates when he can hear her thoughts. In Alpha's Child Damien must fight for his mate.
I read the first part in another boxed set and felt I didn't get the complete story. This one is full of intense suspense and very interesting. The story line was great and made it hard not to fall in love with the characters. I would encourage everyone to get this one.
Truly great story. Damien although blind is truly a great Alpha. Julia is his mate. caring, funny and ferocious at times. Great storyline, great characters. Aubrey Rose is an excellent story teller. Check out this and other amazing stories from her. You won't be disappointed
This is the complete story about a blind alpha wolf who has a growing pack that other wolf packs want to take over. The author wrote a story filled with murder, mystery, mayhem, destruction, deception and desperation. In the middle of the violence there is a smoking love story going...enjoy the read I did.
These books were fantastic! My emotions were everywhere!
I fell in love with these wolves from the beginning. Julia's struggles in life. Working so hard to help Grandma Dee keep her home. Meeting Damien and the others. The joy they all felt, the love and the sadness that can be felt in the pages of these books was just gripping.
I recommend this set to anyone with a love for wereshifters!
I actually waited for the story to be complete before I purchased anything in this series. I became interested in this series shortly before the final installment. I decided it would be a good idea to wait for the conclusion (I hate suspense). I was hoping the set would be worth the wait and it definitely was!
Series as a whole wasn't bad but not one of my favorites. I did like that they weren't chocked full of sex scenes however the story was still lacking for me. could have used more plot and character development. Still, for a quick read, not bad.
I loved the book's. Great shifter story. I just wish there had been more with the their pack at the end. what happened with them all? that's all I really disliked. what happened with the new huge pack at the end????
I love paranormal books but this one was a little different with a blind alpha wolf. The book really shows that beauty is in your heart. it really is a true love story with a lot of twist and turns. really enjoyed reading the entire series
