Copyrighted in 2006, hopefully this third printing, published in 2011, was updated. This was the most recent version I was able to find. Hopefully much of the information still applies unless it is some of the negative content which one hopes has been remedied or at least improved upon. It's broken into nine chapters with titles like "Land and People" and "Customs and Traditions" which are then subdivided into more specific areas of detail. It is easy to read and interesting enough to carry you through to the end. It paints the people of Panama in a very good light as relaxed, fun-loving, family oriented, and inclusive. Reading this book has heightened my anticipation of visiting Panama, allayed most of my fears of what diseases I might be exposed to, and prepared me to enjoy their culture to the fullest. The book is small enough to pack in your suitcase to reference while visiting Panama.
