Fame is overrated.Having rescued thousands of people from being sacrificed, Evelyn could use some peace and quiet. Life has other plans. She quickly finds herself drawn into assisting a deity with a small problem, only to return and find that her great grandmother has learned of her existence. Being drawn into the affairs of the fey is not for the faint of heart, but Evelyn isn’t about to let them manipulate her. Not even if they’re family.
I was born in October, 1985. Not much of my history would likely be of interest, but I grew up primarily in Utah, a land of ultra-conservative people, and yet oddly open to Science Fiction and Fantasy.
I started trying to write in high school. That didn't go well, and I mostly lost the spark for a long time, only rarely finishing writing a story, as most of my inspiration instead went into tabletop role-playing games, like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. In the process I developed a possibly unhealthy obsession with elves and succubi. If I ever write a story without either, it's probably Science Fiction...and there are even odds that someone will body-mod themselves to look like an elf. Trying to be honest here.
My writing tends to focus on the relationships between characters, though it may not seem like it at times. The stories in the background are just that, a backdrop for the development of the characters and situation. I try to fully think them through, but it's not always the case.
Anyway, not much more to be said. I'm an oddball, and I know it. I'm also somewhat stunned at the success my work has attained thus far, and am trying not to panic over it.
This is book five of a romping power fantasy in space. It builds character, plot, and other developments over time and this one picks up right where the last left off. Read in order.
You know what you are getting. You get lots of it. This felt a little placeholdy as there aren't any major developments that disrupt Eve's plans. Which I enjoyed quite a lot because I like Eve and her harem/friends. And by now, that should be pretty much an expectation so there's that.
So this is five stars for delivering the story I expected with characters I love spending time with. If you made it this far in the series, I suspect you'll feel the same.
A note about Chaste: There are definitely sexual shenanigans going on. Including with Eve and her friends. But we only have affection and general banter on-page so this is fairly chaste.
I enjoy this series quite a bit, Evelynn continues to go through some rather unusual situations. Still a little sad we haven't seen an ancient dreams or beesong sequel...hint hint, but this series is definitely worth the read.
It tie’s up several things quite nicely but hopefully it will continue further in the future. Sadly not as much action as previous books but still a great addition to the collection.
I hope you are feeling better and I'm glad to hear things are going well the books are marvelous and the twists are quite interesting. Speaking of twist Have you looked at Nadia and her mom. They are not from the same time nor dimension The story is in If you look you'll find some interesting things I Admire your ability to look I can Sense and kind of hear but that is it. Interesting to see how Evelyn and the others Are Evolving. Be aware as you watch the stories You are watched also by others one your books calls Them Elders or the primordials I suspect ending in time Hand in things. Thank you! May you live in interesting times D.M.G
I love the universe and these books! It's just so fun. Almost like a parody and pretty funny at times, but it all just works and makes sense as well.
In this book in particular, I really liked how the main character got isekai'ed. It was just like all those light novels where some intrepid hero is asked to go save a kingdom from an undead horde, or demons or something; Only the intrepid hero is Evelyn Essendria Tarth. Just imagine the beautiful, caring princess desperately summoning help from the goddess, and then Evelyn Tarth comes out of the summoning circle. It was great.
That was fun -This is the one with the family reunion. Lilac blooming in perfect grace. Evelyn plays summoned champion for a nature goddess. a pocket dimension is created.- I've had trouble focusing on these books in the past. There is nothing specifically wrong, but it turns into a kind of white noise and my attention wanders and then I can't remember what I've read. Truth is, I can't remember any details from any previous book in this series. That's why I now write a mini synopsis at the start of the review so I can tell them apart. This one was a pleasant diversion where I remember some of the others being a touch irritating.
I have read this whole series and this new one is just as good as the others. I wanted it to last longer not because it's a short book oh no I wish it was longer simple because I don't want to have to wait for the next to come out. I mean who knows when that's going to be. That said I would recommend this book
I enjoyed the overall story, but there were parts of this book I didn’t particularly enjoy, I think it’s because the author lets his imagination run away with him to the point where I find the story just too ‘chaotic and muddled’.
Also something went wrong with the formatting around chapter 5-6, sections were repeated and I’m sure there were parts missing.
I am so happy with the development of the characters and also the various stories within the story. The humor and excellent story development is just too notch. Cannot wait for more
I enjoy the characters and the main character a lot. I also like that while she is very powerful that she worries about what is right and wrong. Also people learn never to mess with people she cares for. Give the series a chance. I think you will be hooked
I absolutely adore this series. I can’t wait for the next installment. I love all of the characters. Seeing how Evelyn interacts with her parents and her harem is most amusing.
Eve has become all powerful, it's a good thing she's has lovers and friends who keep her grounded. Benjamin Medrano has written the best Eve of destruction been yet. It's a must read.
These books are great, Evelyn is such a overpowered character. But oh do we love her, she is so very real and well maybe not human but you get what I mean
Good series. Have you considered creating a spin off? Develope a story where one of her harem or even one of the other crew is involved in the odyssey. During which some event causes them to leave. Just a little thought❗ Definitely a 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Evelyn has to deal with a few things. First there is the deity that asks for her aid and then there is her family to consider. The fey are a difficult breed so best beware of all the different and archaic rules she has to deal with.
I absolutely love these slice-of-life style of stories. They have an unhurried pace, stakes but stakes that can be managed and a plot that revolves around the characters as they live rather than some all-consuming plot device. This being book five and the high marks should give you an indication of my high opinion of this series and in general this author's work.
