To be honest, it just wasn’t my lucky day. It started with the plane crash. And then I got shot in my leg.
Guess what? It gets even worse.
I’ve crash-landed on a magical mountain, and there’s no way off. The mountain man who shot me isn’t even human. He’s a polar bear shifter, and he hates my kind. He’d have let me die…if I hadn’t begged him to save me.
Now I’m stuck in his cabin until Valentine’s Day—I mean, until my injury heals.
I hate him with everything I’ve got, But this sizzling shifter’s not the lonely hermit I made him out to be. He’s got a son…and he’s also got a pretty dark past. I need to tread carefully…
This mountain man’s got the heads of his kills hanging on his wall. Mine just might be next.
Author's Note: This is a steamy stand alone romance intended for mature audiences. It is part of the HOLIDAY SHIFTERS OF FROST MOUNTAIN series. You can expect to see your favorite characters overlap throughout the books.
Lisa Daniels is a (young) retired school teacher who resides in Miami. After five years of teaching, Lisa Daniels found that it wasn’t quite the world that she wanted to inhabit. After leaving her position, she moved to Miami. She hasn’t regretted it.
In her worlds, Lisa Daniels creates characters that go beyond the usual narrative. While they definitively include romance, Lisa Daniels strives to make the worlds more real with characters that are more than just cardboard cutouts of the genre. All of the main characters (and many of the secondary ones) have a rich history that span much longer than the stories themselves. This makes it easy to weave the stories together so that you can see characters you met in previous tales and see how they have managed since.
The Dragons of Letera is her first standalone series. Letera is a world teaming with romance, action, and stories – it is a world that Lisa Daniels loves to explore with her readers, one character at a time.
Flying to Chicago to be with her sister on Thanksgiving, Penny Archer woke from a slight shudder of the plane. The older lady sitting next to her decided to strike up a conversation, asking her what her story was and why she was on this flight. Penny really didn’t want to get into an involved conversation. More turbulence distracted her further. But she slipped her headphones back on to avoid the conversation her seat-mate seemed determined to initiate. And as she turned her head to the window, she saw a ripple in the sky, followed by a hard tremor and chaos in the plane as it crashed on a mountain.
Penny survived, but no matter how long she walked down the mountain, for the past 5 weeks and 2 days she never reached the bottom. She was exhausted, dehydrated, and malnourished. After the crash, most of the people had disappeared or were dead. She was the only one left alive in the cabin and figured if she reached the bottom, she would find help. But she never got there. She had run out of water but now thought she heard a stream and headed for it. And then she heard footsteps! Instead of rescue, she ran into a polar bear! She jumped behind a tree to hide, but heard no more footsteps. But when she stepped out, a man stood there with nothing on! And he held a bow and arrow targeted on her. Aaron Padfoot let the arrow fly straight into her thigh and watched her collapse. He had seen only movement, not seeing she was human, and he blamed her for being there! A painful memory of what humans had done to him returned and he pushed it away. He did not want to take her to his cabin where his son Henry waited. But he could not help her out here in the snow, although he did consider whether he should just kill her outright. Will their time together provide them understanding and begin to heal more than the physical damage? Will they come to accept each other? Or will she have to leave once her wound is healed?
Who knew surviving a plane crash could lead to surviving your heart being stolen? A Mountain Man Valentine’s by Lisa Daniels is a sizzling, suspense-filled paranormal romance that proves love can bloom in the most unexpected—and dangerous—places.
Penny Archer’s luck couldn’t be worse: a plane crash, weeks lost on a snowy, magical mountain, and then a shot to the leg from a mysterious hunter. Only this hunter, Aaron Padfoot, isn’t just a mountain man—he’s a polar bear shifter with a dark past and a son he fiercely protects. Initially, Penny is his captive and his enemy, but surviving together in the harsh wilderness sparks tension, humor, and an undeniable chemistry that grows hotter with every page.
What makes this story stand out is the emotional depth Daniels weaves alongside the paranormal thrills. Penny’s past—haunting nightmares from her time with the Red Cross—clashes with Aaron’s distrust of humans, creating a compelling push-and-pull dynamic. Meanwhile, Aaron’s son Henry and their occasional visitor Lana add warmth, humor, and tender moments that balance the danger and suspense. The slow-burn romance, coupled with the suspense of Frost Mountain’s magical mysteries, keeps readers invested from the first crash to the final Valentine’s heartbeat.
If you love strong, grumpy-shifter heroes, heroines who are tough yet tender, and a story full of danger, laughter, and heartwarming moments, A Mountain Man Valentine’s is a must-read. Lisa Daniels proves again that love—even in the snow, under magical curses, and with arrows flying—is worth fighting for.
Penny was on the flight 18, that ended up going thru a dimensional portal and ending up on Frost Mountain. She was one of the survivors in the crash. So for the weeks since the crash, Penny had been trying to find other survivors or someone that could help her get off the mountain, not realizing that was impossible. (As you know from the previous books)
Aaron Padfoot is a polar bear shifter and he was out hunting, with his son, back at the cabin. Seeing movement he shoots his arrow. Yup, you guessed it, it is not an animal. Really bad things had happened to his family due to humans and he doesn’t trust Penny, but he knows that she will die if left out and alone so he takes her back to care for her. Aaron’s son, Henry is absolutely adorable! OMG, he is not in the book enough for me! We get to meet Lana, who comes for a visit every once in a while. I really liked her. I was glad when everything was explained.
Penny had worked for the Red Cross in countries that were war torn. She still has nightmares. It broke my heart when we got to know everything about why she had them. Things get funny as Henry and Penny get along really well as she does with Lana. Aaron tries to fight off his changing feelings. I laughed the whole time reading about it. I really enjoyed this series and this book. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Penny (h) is on her way to visit her estranged sister for Thanksgiving when a midflight disaster sees her plane plummeting towards a snowy mountain. She realizes after surviving on her own for weeks that she isn’t in Nebraska, , but instead on a mountain that seems to go on forever. Penny is shot with an arrow by a man, Aaron (H) who seemingly couldn’t care if she survives or not, but eventually agrees to take her to his cabin to recover. She discovers that Aaron is a polar bear shifter who lives on his own with his young son, Henry, and that he seems to have a hatred for humans. The pair find themselves drawn together despite their past traumas, but just as things heat up between them, Penny worries about protecting her heart from the man who told her she must leave once her injury heals. The worldbuilding and threads of the storyline are really imaginative as each book presents the stories of the survivors of Flight 18 who find themselves trapped in the dimension of Frost Mountain. Lots of emotions and traumas to overcome as Aaron and Penny slowly build a connection with one another.

In this book we meet Penny & Aaron. Penny is just trying to find a new normal and her choice at this moment is to take a flight to her sister and her husband. The problem with this is the flight goes down and she is the only survivor. She is determined to get off the mountain they crashed on if only she can figure out which way to go. Aaron lives far away from humans for a reason. He believes they are the reason he lost his wife. When he shoots Penny with an arrow though while hunting for dinner he feels something for her and can't just let her die. Can these two find a HEA or will there always be something between them?
Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Another enjoyable story in this series about Penny Archer adventures after the fateful flight crashed on Frost Mountain. Penny is flying to Chicago to see her sister's family for Thanksgiving when the plane enters a turbulence and tears apart the cabin with Penny the only survivor. Walking down the mountain, cold and freezing she's seen a bear and hides. Then Penny sees a naked man who shoots her with an arrow. Aaron hates humans after his town saved a group of human soldiers who betrayed them by destroying the town and killing families. What occurs as he takes her to his home to nurse her and she meets his son is an enjoyable shifter romance story. Will Penny be the one to relight Aaron faith in humans?
Both Aaron and Penny have tragic troubled past that they have not resolved. I loved how each helped the other out throughout the story. Aaron , due to his past had only contempt for Penny. Yet he brought her home after he shot her. From there is was a whirlwind of emotions, good and bad. His realization of his concept of humans was changed throughout the book. Again Penny helping him realize his ideas and grouping human in one category Aaron in turn helped Penny with dealing with her past. Something no one else had been able to do. She had grit and determination. I liked Henry, he brought a softer mood to the story. Action , eventual steamy romance and as always the perfect HEA for the couple. This could be read as a standalone.
Frost Mountain is relentless! Penny survives the plane crash on Frost Mountain and has been traveling 5 weeks trying to get back to civilization (which we know isn't going to happen.) Aaron a polar bear shifter is a resident of Frost Mountain and out hunting for him and his son and runs into Penny thinking she was a deer and shoots her in the leg. Aaron has been traumatized by humans in the past, they killed his mate while he was saving their child and is reluctant to help Penny. Can she prove to him that all humans aren't bad? Read this book to find out! To get the best reading experience read the series in order since the books are moving along in time.

Penny is heading to her sisters house for Valentines day when her plane crashes in a parallel universe. This universe is different than hers in that it is occupied by shifters. Nobody else survived the crash and when she goes in search of civilization she is shot by an arrow and wounded. Aaron, a shifter, who shot the arrow doesn't like humans as they killed those from his village. Will he be able to trust Penny? Will they develop feelings and a relationship? Will she escapee this world and return to jer own? This was an interesting paranormal romance read with a HEA.

A Mountain Man Valentine’s is book five in the series Holiday Shifters of Frost Mountain by authors Lisa Daniels & Scarlett Stone. This one so far is my favorite! Like all the others is fast paced- short story. It all starts with- yep you guessed a plane crash. Oh and an arrow. Both the MFC & the MMC have dark pasts - both have been hurt. She’s hurt and under his care- even if it’s a bit hostile. There’s a bright spot the MMC has a child- a boy- he’s a joy. Such close proximity leads to something special. This story has such heart and depth for being a short read. Lots happening in between the pages. Enjoy!!
After the crash of Flight 18, Penny was in disbelief that she had survived. She spent five weeks walking through the snow, hoping to find help. One day, she hears footsteps and peeks out from behind a tree. She sees a polar bear. When she peeks again, she sees a naked man who shoots her in the thigh with an arrow. Penny, meet Aaron. This short story has plenty of romance and steam, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

Penny & Aaron Padfoot - Penny's flight goes through a portal and crashes onto Frost Mountain. She is the sole survivor, but due to her training in the red cross she is able to hike the mountain for weeks before she sees a polar bear. When she looks again it's a man with a bow that he shoots straight into her knee. Fast forward, he brings her to his cabin and the rest is history. It is your typical forced proximinty, one bed, in a secluded cabin, single dad romance. The only difference is Aaron is a polar bear shifter.. that was something.
Quick read, I do wish it was a bit longer, the romance aspect of this story seemed rushed. overall it was a good read, I did like the angst of the characters. I would definitely recommend for someone looking for a quick read that has some spice and is mostly character driven. I have not read anything else in the series (I was specifically looking for valentine's books for February) so im sure there is more world building lore drops if you were to start at the beginning of the series.
I enjoyed this beautiful story, the author took us Aaron and his son Henry and Penny. Their story keeps you hooked from the start, there is drama, action, danger, chemistry and attraction and secrets, but not only that let's not forget the steamy and hot scenes. I enjoyed their story with an emotional edge.

Penny is on her way to visit her sister when the plane she's on crashes on Frost Mountain. An arrow Aaron shoots ends up hitting Penny and things take a fated mates turn. From the interesting characters and chance meeting to the happily ever after this is a great addition to the Holiday Shifters of Frost Mountain series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Another passenger of Flight 18 that is now stranded on a mountain that was cursed into another … dimension? It is a standalone but part of a larger group of stories centered around the plane crash. This girl has been through it…and then gets shot in the leg. Both Main Characters have depth and good back stories for their plot with a sprinkle of spice.
Over three books in this series by Lisa Daniels and Scarlett Stone. They both are working through something they each had from their past. In the end they were a good comfort for each other. His son was glad that they finally Seen what he did. In the and they all had their HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Aaron finds love and is healed after he finds Penny. Penny in turn is healed by Aaron. Together they handle the nightmares from their pasts.
Arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review .flight 18 on day star another fatal flight lands penny archer on frost mountain. This is a really cute story I liked how both characters had issues and learned except their pasts.
This was free on Audible and fit prompts for a Polarathon read. It read like that Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie but with shifters. If that's what you're looking for it's perfect, but I would have liked more world or atmosphere.
Another good one from the series! I'm enjoying reading these. The covers may look a smidge cheesey, but they have really interesting stories. This one has forced proximity, and enemies to lovers! There's also a cute kid that steals your heart!
From start to finish, this holiday paranormal romance will keep you entertained. The plot is spiced up with good backstories and depth for both main characters.
Good book, such a grumpy bear.I think he was out in the woods too long.(I know bears live in the woods). I think Penny was exactly what the grump needed.
