Medieval Art of Sword & Shield: The Combat System of Royal Armouries MS I.33

Rate this book
Europe's oldest fighting treatise, Royal Armouries MS 1.33, has long been unknown to but a handful of fencing historians. Even with the translation and color facsimile edition now available from the Chivalry Bookshelf, the combat system of this important treatise remains difficult to decipher. All the 1.33 techniques are presented here with clear text and more than 400 photographic illustrations, a complete martial arts system useful for historical martial artists, reenactors, SCA combatants, or any student of medieval military history.

The book is well written, but the interpretations are long superseded; much of the reasoning is contained in SPADA II.
