Georgetown Academy #3

Georgetown Academy, Book Three

Rate this book
The frosty chill that’s settled over Georgetown Academy isn’t just from the winter weather—growing up in the D.C. fishbowl isn’t for everyone, but a break from the Beltway might just restore some sanity.

Ellie Walker's suffered through a lifetime of scandal in a few short weeks, and now must watch her true love fall for someone else. But will a dose of fresh New England air—and an irresistible newcomer who plays by his own rules—provide the change of pace she so desperately needs?

Riding high after her smashing D.C. debut, Taryn Reyes hatches a plan to cement her relationship with Gabe. But she may get more than she bargained for when she enlists Brooks’ help.

Evan Harnett would do anything to protect her friends. But one moment of weakness, and now she’s on the outs with both Hunter and Ellie. Hot on the trail of a new story, she's heartbroken to find it leads straight back to Ellie. Can she save her friend and their friendship?

Brinley Madison’s Clinton-esque downfall was bad enough, but between family obligations, protecting her friends, and managing local gossip, will she be able to regain her social standing without losing her peace of mind?

Privileged kids in a posh hotel with nothing to do but scheme and ski—and they thought D.C. was a pressure cooker? One thing’s for sure: what happens in Vermont definitely won’t stay in Vermont.

What’s Cool from Coliloquy:
As the Georgetown Academy girls hit the slopes, authors Alyssa and Jessica let readers decide which of the main girls to follow. You’ll see scandalous behavior, unexpected liaisons, and secret betrayals...all giving you a different perspective as events unfold.

About the Authors
Jessica Koosed Etting and Alyssa Embree Schwartz met the first day of freshman year at the University of Southern California and instantly bonded over their obsessions with Brenda Walsh, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and The Babysitters Club books they read growing up. After spending a full year mourning the end of college, they began writing television and feature scripts together. They have set up pilots at ABC, NBC, Fox and CW, and sold films to The Weinstein Company, Happy Madison, Paramount, New Regency, MGM and Alloy Entertainment. They love writing female-centric stories, especially for teen and tween audiences, mainly because they still think they are the 18-year-old girls they were when they first met at USC.

This book was much better than the last one, according to me. It revolves on many more characters than the previous two books. I liked the way how the book concentrates even on Brinley and has integrated the story much more in this book. Again, I found a few things predictable. I would rate this book to 2.5 to 3 stars.

I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll happily say it again. This stunning series should be made a tv series. It’s filled with beautiful people, rich characterization, drama, love-triangles, betrayal, new love, scheming, and so much more. I can’t wait to for the next book to be released. I just can’t get enough of this excitingly addictive series and its amazing characters.

My new favorite character, who got a lot more of the spotlight in this book than in the previous ones, is Brooks – Brinley’s gorgeous brother. I started taking notice of him in the previous book when he focused his attention on Taryn, but in the third book he’s really coming to life. He might be a little pompous and self-serving at times, but there’s an irresistible goodness to him which attracts me like a moth to a flame. I think I’m mostly looking forward to the next book, so I can get to read more about him (hint, hint, Jessica and Alyssa).

Again, the authors didn’t disappointment and added loads of intrigue to each of the four main characters’ storylines. Something I never thought of before, but which occurred to me while reading and finding out the reason for Weston’s departure in the middle of the school year from his previous school and what he tried to do to Ellie, is that these kids might be privileged in ways we can only dream to be, but their lives can get complicated and life isn’t always fair to them. I look at Ellie’s loyalty to her mom, and Brinley’s father who sold out her best friend’s mom, and it’s clear that the decisions these characters have to make about their personal lives, must be in accordance to what would benefit or what would destroy their parents’ political careers.

I congratulate these two authors for continuing to bring us stellar characters and a series in which readers get to walk in the shoes of the students at Georgetown Academy, where your every move and your every decision could be tomorrow’s front page news. The third book ended on a positive note (in my opinion) and I’m thrilled to see where things might be heading with Brooks and Taryn. Evan’s storyline is a little too dull for my taste, but at least I like her and I think the authors can do a lot of exciting things with her character to stir things up a little at GA. It would be great if she can be the good girl who turns into the bad girl. Of course, Brinley with her straightforward say-it-like-I-see-it personality is still my top favorite character in this series, especially because she’s such a terrific friend to Ellie.

If I don’t stop myself now, I’ll be gushing for another three pages. This is a magnificent series and the writing is superb. It’s refreshing to read about an academy where the characters don’t have any paranormal powers, but where they have to deal with everyday situations in a smorgasbord of political maneuvers which not only affect their own futures, but also those of their parents. It’s real, it’s fun, it’s engaging, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Treat yourself and get your hands on the entire series…now!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Two weeks have passed since the events of the Follow the Stars happened, in preparation for the ski trip, Ellie's mum has set her up with Weston Morris, son of someone who could become one of America's most powerful women. Brinley's parents are making her keep her stint in rehab a secret by saying she has mono. Evan is still pretending to be Luke's boyfriend until the ski trip plane ride. Taryn is with Gabe, but he can't DTR (define the relationship) and then there is Brooks who is hanging around Taryn.

Ellie is over as she can be about Hunter, she can't move on from the fact that Taryn and Gabe are always together, then there is Weston senior at one of the other top private schools in D.C. The ski trip is a chance for Ellie to let loose, however, information about Weston ruin her chances of moving on when she finds out the reason why he left his school mid-year when he had gone there since Kindergarten.

Brinley wants to move on and relax so she doesn't resort back to her Adderall habit. Her mum on the other hand wants her act like everything is normal and find a new suitable boyfriend for her. But Brinley has other ideas, the cute town guy who works at the ski resort wants to take her out on a date, but lying to Ellie is always the hardest part for her.

Evan is single, no longer are her and Luke fake boyfriend and girlfriend, she has a chance on the ski trip to be with Hunter, whom kissed her two weeks before. Evan's internship boss has other ideas on what she will be doing on the ski trip: finding out the reason why Weston Morris transferred mid-year. With Ellie sort-of dating Weston she is worried that this will worsen their relationship even more. However, when she finds out the real reason why she has to go to the one person who will listen to her about Ellie: Brinley.

Taryn is confused about Gabe as to whether or not he wants to be with her or is he still hung up on Ellie. Wanting to make Gabe jealous she uses Brooks who is more than willing to go out snowboarding with her. When she starts to not care about making him jealous she realises that he still wants to hang out with her. But when Gabe runs off to help Brinley & Evan with Ellie, Brooks is the one there to save her when she hurts herself snowboarding.

Hunter, Gabe, Weston, Luke and Brooks all play important roles in the girls time at the ski resort whether it is to make or break them.

Drama, Secrets come out and Relationships crumble, who will be left standing all in one piece after the ski trip is over? The addictivness of this series just makes you want to see what happens next and what political scandal is coming out now.

Are you looking for your next Young Adult Contemporary read? Why don’t you grab your Kindle and read Georgetown Academy by Alyssa Embree Schwartz & Jessica Koosed Etting. Georgetown Academy has been hailed by Gossip Girl producer, Josh Schwartz, as “Smart, sexy and insanely addictive.”

Georgetown Academy, Season One follows the story of Ellie Walker, the DC Sweetheart, Brinley Madison, the DC Princess, Evan Hartnett, the goody two shoes & Taryn Reyes, the new girl in town. They all attend the most exclusive private school, where all fancy parties are being held, where life isn’t actually drama-free and the place where all the spectacle unfolds. Georgetown Academy has a very engaging plot. I finished it in one sitting down. I don’t have any qualms getting into the story. That’s how gripping and fun it is to read. The characters are vivid, real and relatable. Their stories offer a valuable lesson we can always learn. One of the greatest things about reading Georgetown Academy is that politics play a significant part of the plot and even If I have zero interest in politics it certainly piqued my buds. It was perfectly executed. It’s like reading a Scandal slash Gossip Girl episode. Georgetown Academy has been easily one of my favorite reads this year. A highly recommendable series to everyone.

So much happens in this book. Some pretty heavy topics are dealt with. Really enjoyed the ski slope scenes as well as the changing relationships. I feel like I'm really getting to know the characters. My two favorites are Taryn and Brooks. Felt the topic of classism/snobbery was handled ok. Like that the authors are trying to tackle the problems teenagers being gay face although because the book is placed in a very political world we don't get to see any gay kids out-of-the-closet; everything is framed in the way it will affect parents careers.

Another fun installment of the GA series. Waiting on Book 4 now!

Full review

Oh, my! The drama explodes in Georgetown Academy Book 3! This was a fun installment of the series, as most of the action takes place at a ski resort in Vermont. The major players all think that they are going to get a break from the rigors of DC, but guess again, guys! The microscope has followed you all to the slopes, and many of you are going to have the worst vacation ever!

It must be nice to attend a fancy private school in DC, because all of the kids from the various high schools converge at a ski resort for an annual pilgrimage to work on their networking skills, and sneak in lots of partying while the clueless, inattentive chaperons who are traveling with them dine at the restaurant. Ellie feels that life is finally getting back on track. She’s met the marvelous Weston Morris, and she is instantly smitten. He’s caring and brushes aside the recent photo scandal with Gabe with a shrug of his shoulders. Better yet, his mom and Ellie’s mother are political allies, and they are openly encouraging of their match. What Ellie doesn’t know is that Weston has a dark past, and he’s not the knight in shining armor that he pretends to be. Will her friends be able to convince her that he’s trouble? Nah, probably not, but the interpersonal conflicts between Brinley, Evan, and Ellie made this story thread a lot of fun.

I am even enjoying the triangle between Taryn, Gabe, and Brooks, and usually I have no patience for girls who can’t make up their minds. It’s always obvious that one of the guys is so wrong, and the other is so right, but they are always attracted to Mr. Wrong. While I’m not convinced which guy is which, it’s obvious that Gabe is still hung up over Ellie, and Taryn’s desire for a definitive, public acknowledgement from Gabe that the two of them are a Couple is causing her a lot of grief. In a somewhat lame attempt to get him jealous, she promptly takes the advice of her LA friend and begins to flirt outrageously with Brooks. I was starting to think there was something seriously wrong with Gabe, because he was so indifferent to her new, close friendship with Brooks. It was kind of sad how obviously indifferent he really is to Taryn.

I was disappointed at how easily and quickly Brinley got over her addiction to prescription medication. After a two week stint at a rehab center, she was deemed all better and ready to get back to school. She is warned to not allow herself to get into stressful situations, as the stress is her trigger, but since her parents are far, far too busy getting ahead in the political scene, neither bothered to pick her up or even read her discharge notes. Her mother is an uncaring, emotionally distant wench, and she immediately piles the pressures of being a Madison back onto Brinley’s shoulders. Sigh.

As Georgetown Academy Book 3 drew to a close, I was kind of bummed out. There are many unresolved story threads and now that I am invested in the series, I checked for a release date for Book 4. There’s no listing yet, so I’ll be biting my nails while I wait to see what’s up next for the G.A. crew.

Skiing! That's what Georgetown Academy: Book 3 is all about. Well, really it's about the character's we've come to know and love going on their annual ski trip to Vermont and all the romantic drama and scandals that follow them there. At this point in the series we're far enough in that we know these characters and have a pretty good idea when they're making mistakes. I love all of these characters so it's interesting to see all of their problems finally coming to a head in Book 3. It's also probably my favorite book in the series so far and had me laughing out loud at some of the banter between the characters.

Taryn, one of my favorite of the GA girls, came off pretty whiny in the beginning of this book. But that lasted for, oh, about half a second. Once she hits the slopes with Brooks you really see that carefree, wild spirit that is an essential part of who Taryn is. Regardless of any relationship drama Taryn is always a pleasure to read about.

Poor Brinley. The girl may seem like your standard mean girl on the outside but on the inside she's got more depth than any of the other girls. I was so happy that she went to rehab and was proactively trying to get better after everything that happened in Book 2. And the fact that no one, aside from her brother Brooks, takes her recovery seriously just made me feel even worse for her. But at least she got to meet Shane, the adorable townie from the ski resort. Brinley far exceeded my expectations of her in this book. While her snobbery may know no bounds, neither does her loyalty to her friends and her resolve to do the right thing.

I felt terrible for Evan. For a girl who seems to truly want to do the right thing all the time, she really gets the short end of the stick. That just doesn't seem fair to me. But karma works wonders for sweet girls with crushes on nice boys, doesn't it? Well, it does in this latest installment of the GA series!

There is a bit of a bright side for Ellie finally. After meeting cute Weston and getting back in her mother's good graces things really seem to be looking up for her. Or is Weston really someone she should be trusting? What I love about Ellie is that, while she puts her mother's career ahead of her own feelings, she's not one to make stupid mistakes and I ended this book feeling proud of her.

Is there anything better than a handful of hot guys at a ski resort? No. No there isn't. And that's exactly what Book 3 gives us! The GA guys are out looking good in their ski gear (especially Brooks who Taryn actually compares to a Saks mannequin. Ha!). Speaking of Brooks, holy moly! The chemistry and banter between him and Taryn is off the charts. I always knew he was my favorite GA boy! As I was reading I kept having to pause to screech, Ohmygodhessocute!

If you've read the other books in this series then you'll definitely want to continue the adventure with the Georgetown gang as they travel to Vermont in this fun, drama filled third book in the series. If you haven't started this series yet, then please! Give it a try. I can't stress enough how in love with these characters I am.

Admittedly, it's not one of those inspirational, tear-jerking books, but I loved it.

Georgetown Academy reminded me of Gossip Girl, but with a major emphasis on the world of politics. The characters that are focussed on in GA live in a whirlwind of power hungry parents, secret political agendas, elite fashion and all of that comes with a hell of a lot of drama.

Since I live in the UK, it was a little difficult to understand the political aspects of the book, in terms of the parties being represented, but it didn’t take me long to realise that, like all politics, the main aim was power and status. Networking, wealth and attending social events were the fundamentals of staying in the social-political scene, but what it came down to the most was which family can keep its secrets hidden the deepest.

The family loyalty is what the teenagers find hardest to live up to, ensuring they only mingle with the ‘correct’ types of friends; basically, those who have parents in high places. The students are told to have fun, but always be aware that they are being watched so the basic rule is, have fun but don’t let anyone see you.
Book three was easy to follow without having read the first two books; I should know!

Favourite characters
My two favourite characters were Brooks and Evan. Brooks because along with his good looks, he appears to have brains, and who doesn’t like a knight in shining armour to come and save the damsel. Although in this case, it was more of saving Taryn’s sorry butt after she had a skiing accident and he wore more prada than armour!

Evan, because, unlike the other girls, she really is an outsider and only got into GA due to her scholarship. She knows very little about fashion and doesn’t attempt to hide it, and as a result becomes an easy target as a result of this but I liked her for it. Plus, she seems to have her heart in the right place, protecting her gay best friend from the media shame by pretending to be his girlfriend, when secretly she has always been in love with Hunter.

Most annoying character
Probably Ellie, because she acts like such a brat. I know she’s had her heart broken by Gabe but fix up woman! Your bestfriend has just come out of rehab, so you decide to act like a drunk instead of taking care of her when she needs you most. And you wonder why she lies to you?

Favourite couple
Shane and Brinley of course; purely because it goes against what all of Georgetown believe in; that the rich and powerful should not mingle with those from lesser classes. Shane works at the ski resort Brinley stays in, and I love his confidence. He’s not fazed by Brinley being a Madison, to be fair I doubt he even knows what that means! I don’t think it will last because of all the meddling parents and Brinley will probably give in so her mum isn’t demoted in society, but it was a refreshing mix.

Finally, I liked the interactive touch, by allowing the reader to select which of the four girls to follow in the upcoming chapters. I thought that was a great addition; involving the reader further with each character.

Loved this book, and I'm now reading the fourth book!

Some pretty intense things have been happening with a few members of Georgetown Academy's student body, and I was eager to catch up with them and see how they were dealing with their drama. In Georgetown Academy Book Three, secrets are revealed, new dangers are met, and romantic feelings are expressed. There is truly never a dull moment in the world of Georgetown Academy. (If this is the first time you're heading about this book and series, check out my reviews of books one and two to get yourself caught up.)

In Georgetown Academy Book Three, Brinley Madison (yes, she's a descendant of a certain famous president with the same last name) is recovering from her Adderall addiction. Though it may be too soon for her to reintegrate herself into Georgetown Academy life, she attends the school ski trip and is grateful to be away from D.C. for awhile. Taryn and Gabe are still going strong, but he has yet to "define the relationship". Evan and Hunter are avoiding one another, but she may get her chance with him when she and Luke stage their breakup. Ellie is hanging out with Weston, the son of her mother's friend, who just may be more than she can handle.

I loved the change of scenery in Georgetown Academy Book Three. This ski trip takes all of the main girls out of their stressful environments and lets them have a little fun-and for one of them, maybe just a bit more fun than she might want. Of the four girls, I was most intrigued by Ellie's and Weston's storyline. It felt familiar, and that's probably because it's similar to something that happened in one of my favorite WB shows from way back when. What happens to Ellie and another classmate is a serious matter, and I'm glad that the authors brought it up. It's a great cautionary tale for young girls, and unfortunately that type of thing does happen in the real world. Hopefully girls who participate in underage drinking might learn a thing or two from what Ellie goes through.

Being such a short book, the fun ended all too soon. The more installments in this series I read, the more attached I become to all of the characters, even Brinley. I'm happy that some of the relationship drama is getting worked out and that they each may find the person they are meant to be with. Some of the background characters, like Luke, still have some hardships ahead to face. I'm also looking forward to seeing what happens with Taryn and Brooks-who are absolutely perfect for each other. Something big is going on with Taryn's family as well, and I'm dying to know what it is.

Blurb
The frosty chill that’s settled over Georgetown Academy isn’t just from the winter weather—growing up in the D.C. fishbowl isn’t for everyone, but a break from the Beltway might just restore some sanity.
Ellie Walker’s suffered through a lifetime of scandal in a few short weeks, and now must watch her true love fall for someone else.
Hot on the trail of a new story, she’s heartbroken to find it leads straight back to Ellie.
My thought
If you enjoyed Georgetown Academy, Book One and Georgetown Academy, Book Two than you will love Georgetown Academy, Book Three!
Again, the melodrama runs high, following each character’s story, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel! Our girls are growing up and I hope it isn’t just the result of the frozen temps outside. With new characters entering the mix and better choices being made by the teens, I’m loving where this series has gone! We are brought back into the lives of Ellie, Brinley, Taryn and Evan as they attempt to escape the political pressures of DC to Vermont for a ski trip – easier said than done! With only a few pages these authors have created a wealth of drama, angst and action, defining the characters enough to create reader feelings towards them! Great Soap Opera material!
Book Three keeps the reader on their toes from the beginning until the very end!

Escaping the world of D.C., you think that the Vermont ski trip would help alleviate some of the pressure and political play, right? Heck no—the antics are still going strong and provide many laugh out loud and cringe worthy moments.

The four main girls are moving on with their lives. Ellie has met Weston and is trying to move on from Hunter and forget Gabe. Brinley has recovered from her collapse at Follow the Stars, but can she handle the pressure that led her to drugs in the first place? Taryn has won the guy—but why is he not willing to define their relationship? And Evan, she gets caught up helping Luke hide his secret instead of finally being able to hook up with Hunter. Is everyone going to go their way? Heck no!

I like the internal growth that the characters are going through, also. Ellie is starting to come into her own—I like that she is starting to stand up for herself (both with Hunter and Weston for instance). Brinley, too, seems to be moving in a better direction. She definitely came off as the typically entitled girl at first but, I love the depth that is being written into her character, especially in this book. Evan—I am so thrilled that is she finally pursued Hunter in this book! I just hope he behaves and treats her well. With Taryn, I feel bad for her because she is into Gabe but, he is so not over Ellie. I hope that she is able to keep her strong sense of self and not conform in Book Four. All four of them try to control their lives because of the nature of their upbringing—but everyone keeps getting in their way. It will be interesting to see if they are able to take greater control on their lives or if others will be able to keep them off their desired paths.

This is my favorite Georgetown Academy book thus far. It is entertaining and at the same time, has moments to ponder. It will be interesting to see what happens in Book Four now that the stars seem to be aligning for all the couples to get together….but could it be that simple? Hmm….only reading Book Four will tell.

Kat's Review

I've been remiss in not reviewing this earlier, but with book four set to be published tomorrow, along with a Season One four book set to be made available, it's time to write this review. If you're not familiar with the series, Georgetown Academy follows the lives of students at an elite high school in Washington, D.C. where students of those involved in Washington politics attend classes. Told from multiple perspectives, the books provide a fascinating look at how the politics of high school might be shaped when every decision taken might be scrutinized by the media and the whole country. The political lines drawn by their parents influence the behaviour of the students, but are not always strong enough to keep them from their hearts' desires.

I like this series because it tackles teen drama from a different perspective. The books are the perfect length for a quick read, and don't take themselves too seriously. It's like watching a teen drama on television- beautiful people, expensive clothes, too much privilege and lots of drama. I actually think the series is getting stronger as it goes, showing a different side to the characters from the first two books. This is particularly true with Brinley, the privileged daughter of a Republican who prides herself on being perfect. This book shows her fragile side, the side that is cracking from the pressure. Taking the action away from Washington for a school trip helps shake some of the pressures the students deal with on a day-to-day basis, and allows their true personalities to shine through.

Rating: A Good Read

This series puts a smile on my face and makes me wonder what it must really be like for children of high-level politicians and political strategists in Washington. If they ever turn this into a series, I'll be watching!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this title by NetGalley & the publisher in return for an honest review.

I admit it, these kids have grown on me! Georgetown Academy: Book Three is the best of the lot! Off to ski the powdery slopes of New England, even the purity of the white snow can’t keep trouble from entangling these kids! Ellie’s mom has set her up with Weston Morris, son of an up and coming political powerhouse in D.C. He’s hot, confident, etc., but he has a dark side that has been kept under wraps and covered up for years. Another dangerous Washington scandal swept under the rug in the name of power. Sadly, someone will pay the price. Taryn is still trying to hook Gabe and make him commit, her unlikely ally is Brooks, who reveals a depth of character sadly lacking in his family. Brinley has been through the ringer kicking her drug habit, and is back with a vengeance and FINALLY showing some maturity and a softer side! (Thank Heavens!) And dear Evan, loyal friend to Luke, that girl is a gem, pure and simple!

Again, the melodrama runs high, following each character’s story, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel! Our girls are growing up and I hope it isn’t just the result of the frozen temps outside. With new characters entering the mix and better choices being made by the teens, I’m loving where this series has gone! With only a few pages these authors have created a wealth of drama, angst and action, defining the characters enough to create reader feelings towards them! Great Soap Opera material!

A copy was provided by NetGalley and Coliloquy in exchange for my honest review!

MY THOUGHTS
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT

***spoilers if you haven't read the first two ***

This series just keeps getting better and better! The crew is headed for skiing in Vermont and a break from the media coverage that has worn down even the most hardcore Washington resident that crave that spotlight. Brinley and her parents have circumvented a disaster by going public with her drug abuse and cleaned her up in rapid time. Now with a therapist in her corner, she gains strength to break away from the stranglehold Washington has on her. Ellie has to sit back and watch the love of her life, Gabe slowly get entangled with Taryn. Taryn tries to use Brooks, Brinley's brother, to make him jealous but the whole thing backfires in her face when the unexpected happens. Ellie finally meets Weston, a guy she hopes will take her mind off of Gabe, but is he "all that" or too good to be true?

Well, since this series will be released about every 6 months, it doesn't seem too long to wait, but I really am glad I had a chance to read them all in one sitting. They are that good. The biggest problem that I had was now is that I won't see another installment until next January. SIGH. The character development in this series is just spectacular. Each character becomes deeper and with the chance to read their point of view with the interactive portion of each ebook. I admit that I had to obsessively read each one just to make sure I didn't miss a thing. Parents: this series is best suite for teens since there is language, drug and alcohol use, sexual situations much like any decent teen show on the CW and you will find yourself sneaking them away from your kids.

Book 3 is another brilliant edition to the Georgetown Academy series. The main story, this time, does not play in Washington DC, but all the students find themselves on an annual ski retreat in Stowe, Vermont. Will there be much time for actual skiing or will other affairs be more prominent?

Whereas I read Books 1 and 2 straight after each other, I read a couple of different books in between Books 2 and 3. I was slightly worried that I might not remember the storyline as well, but the authors are extremely good at introducing the events from the other two books at the beginning.

Again, I really enjoyed the interactive content of the book. The reader can decide from which point of view (Ellie, Brinley, Evan or Taryn) they would like to explore a certain scene of the storyline. I am so hooked by the books that I read said scene from all four girl’s points of view.

Georgetown Academy, Book 3 was another quick, easy and gossip laden read. I cannot believe how much content the authors are able to put into these books, there is so much happening in the storyline – from betrayals over friendships to love triangles etc. In my opinion, each book reads like a different episode from a TV show. There is always a cliff-hanger in the end preparing the reader for the next instalment of the story. The more books I get to know from this series the more the characters grow on me. I cannot wait to find out which fate the students are faced with in Book 4.

My Thoughts:

The Cover: True to Georgetown Academy standards, yet again a shapely pair of legs in front of yet another prominant US landmark, this time the Washington Monument and our beauty is wearing black and boots. I mean, makes sense if it is winter and you are going away on a ski vaca!

The Plot: Wow, this was my fav so far! The drama just keeps getting more and more intense. The plot continues to be awesome, full of surprises, with lots of drama and lots of romance, I tell you. Sometimes things change so fast it makes my head spin. And someone is always on the receiving end of some nasty rumors.

The Characters: The characters continue to be very well written, each with their own personalities and character flaws. It was nice to see Taryn land on her feet, so to speak, after Brinley's nasty rumors. And Brinley can spin a story like you wouldn't believe, so don't get on her bad side. Ellie has gone through so much herself and poor Evan is constantly having to put her friends before her own dreams. Everytime there is a newsworthy scoop, it involves her friends and she has to decide again whats more important to her.

Is it Worth Reading?: Definitely, I can not say that enough. It was a great change of pace as the Georgetown Academy students took a mini vacation and joined kids from other schools and just had some fun. I can't wait to start Book 4, but definitely recommend the whole Georgetown Academy series and give it 4 out of 5 crossbows.

An entertaining read, but everything (except the 'take one for the team/even the score' moment at the end) is just too predictable. I could see the numerous new relationships (no names or spoilers) coming since the first book and the new characters, who I was excited to see, ended up (for now) being left on the ski slopes when the gang returned to Washington D.C.

I also question how the authors are characterizing Brinley...she does some things I would not have expected, and frankly don't find believable, in this installment. Which means she's either changing drastically (possible, given the way her story opens up in this one) or they can't keep her character straight either. I just can't reconcile the Brinley from Book One with the Brinley in Book Two...and two weeks at a detox facility aren't enough for a drastic life change.

I also have a bit of whiplash at watching the speed with which their relationships change. Bodies aren't even cold yet and kids are hooking up with someone else. I suspension t his is done because each book is only about 100 pages and they have to fit as much drama into those pages as possible, but I would rather get some depth of character vs. speedy hookups, even in my beach reads. Or maybe I'm just too old for this series. ;)

Georgetown Academy Book 3- Jessica Koosed Etting and Alyssa Embree Schwartz

It’s Inaugeration Day and what better way to celebrate than with some fictional political drama. I don’t know about you but the fictional kind is much more palatable to me than the real life political drama these days. That being said, Georgetown Academy Book Three JUST came out on January 15th and this time, we’re hitting the slopes. A few weeks have lapsed since the end of Book Two and the Follow the Stars event and there are quite a few changes to absorb. Brinley is back and practically a different person. I LOVE HER! Her growth is phenomenal. Ellie meanwhile is struggling and making some terrible decisions and at one point I wanted to shake her and say, “LOOK AT YOUR LIFE! LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES!”. We get some great twists and turns but we also get a ski lodge setting. The best part of the Georgetown Academy books—aside from the politics, relationships, fashion—is that every single character is flawed and those flaws make them real, believable, and most of all lovable. The end of Book 3 is a doozy and I NEED Book 4, like yesterday.

Overall: A

This was my favorite Georgetown Academy book! It had the exact same style as the first tow with the story and then an interactive part where you follow one girl's story. But the story for this installment was really good!

By the third book the characters have really come to life and I feel like they blossomed in this third book. They were standing up for themselves and making slightly better choices not only for them but about their friends. I also liked the introduction of some new characters into the fray because it added to the story.

The new setting was also a nice change of pace. Yes there was still all that DC politics drama but in a much prettier setting.

I think all of the characters (with the exception of one new one) grew a lot in this book. Especially Brinley, I know it is lame to say of a fictional character but I am really proud of how much she grew over the last three books, she went from being my least favorite character to being one of my favorites. It was a worthy addition to the series.

If you enjoyed Georgetown Academy, Book One and Georgetown Academy, Book Two than you will love Georgetown Academy, Book Three! We are brought back into the lives of Ellie, Brinley, Taryn and Evan as they attempt to escape the political pressures of DC to Vermont for a ski trip – easier said than done! Book Three keeps the reader on their toes from the beginning until the very end!

Etting and Schwartz do an amazing job building completely believable characters and settings. I would say that having the two completely different points of view and writing styles really adds to this series. One might think it would be disjointed, but that is not the case! Their writing is so dynamic and flexes and grows as does the characters throughout the book and series. We really see the characters become more and more real throughout this series. I love seeing the girls continually grow and mature! I cannot wait for book four especially as it finally feels like the puzzle pieces are finally falling into place. Could a happy ending for all be possible?

Privileged kids from Georgetown Academy go on break at a hotel with skiing, snowboarding, and partying day and night. Getting away from D.C. should be relaxing and fun but some of them find it just as pressure filled as new relationships are formed, alliances and friendships are tested and love blossoms on the slopes.

Ellie, Brooks, Taryn, Hunter, Evan, Gabe, and Brinley will have you flipping the pages and deciding which stories to follow from the females' vantage points as a trip to the emergency room brings out emotions and secrets that may not stay bottled up in Vermont and could spill over to their lives back at home.

This was a fast read and I can't wait until book four comes out to see what happens on the political scene and the new relationships that formed once they are back at school.

So Winter is coming and the drama never ends, but this time things lots control for a few of those girls and Brinley is still my favorite after everything she did and how much she helped Ellie, who I still think is so damn naïve, that it fells like she let things pass just to be happy for awhile.

I don’t like Taryn and how much she became lost in this relationship with Gabe, because came on can’t she see that it’s clear he likes Ellie and she’s just a fling, but Brooke that actually likes her it’s pushed to the corner.

Evan is getting really good in this strange world and becoming a really nice character to follow, but still needs to learn a few things with Brinley to actually own the news.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Book Three continues with all the drama except now it is mostly on the school ski trip. There is a new character, Weston, brought in and at first I thought Yay! But then as the story progressed it was a definite Nay! None of the characters really appeal to me, but I thought maybe for Brooks.

This series has an extreme amount of love triangles, but some of them have finally started to solve. There is also oodles of gossip and politics, which don't draw me in at all.

Recommend to those into high school dramatics and backbiting politics.

The Georgetown Academy Series had quickly become one of my newest favorite YA series. Its Pretty Little Liars meets Gossip Girl and I love every minute of it. Book Three in this exciting new series is not a disappointment and is a great addition to this series. This book draws readers into this series and leaving them vested and wanting more.
The Students of GA are at it again in this installment and are on a retreat in Vermont trying to leave the drama in D.C. fortunately for readers the drama and mayhem follow the teens with them.

Georgetown 3 does not disappoint. Even though the students are away in Vermont the drama definitely follows, along with a few unexpected twists and turns. What I like most about the series so far is that the characters, who all have their share of flaws, are still likable and easy to identify with. In Book Three, we meet a few new (and yummy) characters. I especially loved the dialogue in this book, particularly between Taryn and a certain someone. Anyone looking for an entertaining read, look no further. Can't wait for the next one!

The drama keeps increasing at Georgetown Academy! I never thought I'd ever like Brinley, but her redemption (well, kind of) made me really like her character. I can see where the authors have derived inspiration from real life events, from the inauguration of the President to even things like the Duke lacrosse team. And they've really nailed the dialog -- I feel like this is just how my girlfriends and I talked in high school. In fact, I've been sending parts to them, and they all just bought it!

The third book in the drama packed series does not disappoint. People get exposed for who they truly are, in both good ways and bad. Friendships are mended and relationships get broken. I truly cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Weirdly I liked this one better than the last. Brooks and Taryn are so cute. The Weston storyline gave me chills. Brinley's storyline with the townie wasn't as good for me. As usual, Evan is the dullest person alive and really unlikeable.
