I'm thinking that this is a case of "it's me, not you."

It obvious by the reviews that many enjoyed this book. Try as I might, however, I just couldn't get into this story. Simply put, I was bored and just skimmed through it. The ending was good, though.

Something tells me I might be in a book funk! Hum...2014 doesn't seem to be getting off to a very good book start.

4.25 Wonder Woman Stars

First let me take a moment to say that Author Sarah Dosher is Wonder Woman. This is her THIRD, 3rd, Numero Tres, book of 2013. Who needs a lasso of truth when you can write that much, that well? I am in awe. And I happen to know that she does own a fabulous brass bra. Total Wonder Woman. So now lets talk about the book......

Being in the crowd, looking up a dark stage, waiting for that first note to be released. The anticipation of a great show. That's what we, the audience get. But what does the performer feel? The same anticipation? The waiting for the lights? And what about those that love them? This is that story. The story of the girl who loves the performer.

Eli is the daughter of Kirk Savage,a famous guitarist. She spent her life waiting backstage for some of his time. He loved her and made her center of his world when he was with her. Then he died. Now Eli is left with lots of money but no dad to take care of her. She has made a life for herself with a boyfriend and starting her own business. Oooops. Scratch the boyfriend. Found him cheating with a blonde bimbo. Now she's down to just running a business, a best friend, and a horrid mother.

Deacon has been trying to survive his whole life. From foster care, to the streets, to the stage. What is good in his life is his music. He lives to perform. Not for the crowd, but for himself. For the music.

Music was easy, life was hard.

When Deacon and Eli connect, they have an instant attraction. Unfortunately, that does not mean instant HEA. Eli doesn't like relying on anyone because life has taught her not to trust.

I'd found a weakness I didn't even know existed before yesterday-Deacon Chastain

Can they overcome her mother, her ex-boyfriend who keeps popping up, his foster family, drug dealers, and more than all of those thing...their lack of confidence in their own ability to love?

Ms Dosher has another great book here. And this one sings.

AMAZING!
OMFG!!
I. AM. IN. LOVE!!!

I had the privilege of reading an Advanced Release Copy of this book. Can you imagine my excitement before reading? No, well here you go...

Once I started, I was hooked. Yep, you read it right...hook, line, sinker, DONE!!!!!
I never doubted I wouldn't want to binge on yet another one of Sarah's books, because I'm already a HUGE fan of hers! A Blue Tale is a lot different from her previous books and she took some really big leaps with this one, but in true Sarah fashion, she NAILED IT!!!

This is hands down one of the BEST books I have EVER read!!!! I felt every emotion possible while reading it. One minute I was happy, the next I was EXTREMELY pissed off!! I felt the love and the confusion the characters went through. I felt their insecurities and uncertainties. And boy did I feel their pain. I cried so hard that I was left unable to see my screen and my chest was trembling from the gut wrenching sobs that were escaping me. This was me:

ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY DESTROYED!!

Even though my heart was breaking into a million tiny pieces, I knew Sarah wouldn't leave me hanging out to dry like this. Okay, I lie, maybe I told her I was beginning to question our friendship just a teeny tiny bit! I may never get over what happens in this story, but I have been able to forgive her because she did leave me with a very beautiful, happy ending. And yes, I cried some more.

Eli Blue

She's gorgeous, humble and hard working. You would never guess she was the daughter of a late rock star because she doesn't come off as most "famous" children would. But Eli hasn't lived a life that is full of hearts and rainbows. She has horrible secrets that she reveals about her childhood; a childhood that her father once rescued her from, but sadly, ended up forcing her to return to. Although Eli experienced things that would cause most to give up on loving others, she did the exact opposite...she loved HARD!!

Shaw

Ex boyfriend.
Lifelong best friend.
Family.

He made a horrible mistake that would haunt him daily. A mistake so fierce that if I were Eli, I don't know if I could have ever forgiven him. Now with that being said, I loved Shaw and even found myself rooting for him at times but I think it was all for the history that he and Eli shared. They were a safety net of sorts for each other. I don't doubt one bit that he loved Eli with every ounce of his being. He would do anything for her. Yes, at times his behavior was rather possessive, but I believe it all had to do with the way they grew up living life on the road with their famous fathers. No matter what, Shaw always had Eli's back and I loved that about him.

Deacon

RAWR!!!! Hello, Alpha male! Deacon's all "Me Tarzan, you Jane." Swear, I had moments where I wanted to throat punch him, but I loved him deeply. Deacon was a very lost soul. He lived a life that no child should have to live growing up. He was forced to turn to the streets for the love and protection that he so desperately needed. Deacon loved Eli more than words could ever express and for reasons that she wasn't even aware of. He felt as though he owed his life to her.

The road that Deacon and Eli had to travel was full of twists and turns and things definitely didn't always play out in their favor. They are tested beyond belief. They endure fear, betrayal, love and loss together. They learn so much along the way, not only about each other, but about themselves as well. They experience enough guilt that could move mountains. They have to learn how to heal in order to move on with their lives, whether it's together or apart. Regardless of how the stars align up for them, they must first let go of their pasts and live for the present, while hoping for the future.

A Blue Tale made my Favorite Reads of 2013 list. Congratulations, Sarah, on another job well done! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!!

Another great book and totally different vibe from the brilliant Author Sarah Dosher. A Blue Tale is full of hot rockers, humor, steamy scenes, and extreme intensity. I pretty much devoured this book. Get ready to feel the rock and roll in your heart, mind, and bones!!! This is one concert you don't want to miss!

Eli Blue has it all. Great friends, a HUGE business, money coming out of her ears, and a father who is a legendary rocker. Unfortunately, under all of her layers you know she is missing something. Something that will either make or break her. Something that consumes her. And something that shows us that she is human, and wants more in life. There were times where I was just shocked and upset for her----Not in a bad way, just a way that I wanted her to break through her own barriers and shine brightly. She is like a very dim light on a very dark day, looking for that shooting star to light her up.

Shaw.....I love him. I just do. You may think that's nuts, but I get him. He's perfectly imperfect. He's a man who loves Eli completely. And will never stop. Yes, he has a side that I don't enjoy. But that makes him who he is. And then there is Deacon, who just melts me. He's that hero. The one you love so much and want to kiss repeatedly. I kept asking myself, where had he been hiding? Why wasn't he always in Eli's life? He is a tad bit on the mysterious side and very much a brooding musician. You see that there is more to him than meets the eye. And that more than meets the eye, draws you to him, like a moth to a flame. I don't think I can stress enough, how much I love and enjoyed both of these men!

Eli has a wonderful group of people who care for her, unconditionally. Those people being Shaw and Willow, and Dave, Shaw's dad. These three would do anything for Eli. And that had me gushing. I loved Willow's outspoken quirkiness. She is fun, wild, and free. Dave is like another father to Eli. One that she will always look up to and go to for guidance. And you already know about Shaw. He would do anything for Eli, just to make her happy.

Shaw and Deacon, plus Eli makes an interesting story. So much so, that I didn't know who to root for more. There isn't any love triangle drama. There isn't cheating, it is very different than that. This is a story where you love both men. This really turned me on to enjoy this story more. We didn't see them getting pinned against one another. We didn't see them being totally douchey. We just saw that each man is out for the best interest for Eli. And these two men have their own traits that make him swoonalicious and so very lovable.

Ms. Sarah, you deserve a round of applause for this very enjoyable read. I didn't know what to expect, since I read her other two novels. This book is in it's own realm of greatness. This book shows us that Author Sarah Dosher has a broad range in her writing career. I think what I loved most about this book, was that it was so very different. There's a love story, mixed in with hurt/pain, and a little mystery and suspense. Basically there is something lurking around every corner. Oh and the steamy scenes, were just that....super steamy. I loved them. They weren't "too much," they were just the right amount of steam, and very realistic. This book shows us how truly talented Author Sarah Dosher is. I rate this book with 4-4.5 Stars!

I was very lucky to have received an Advanced Copy of this to read, and nothing excites me more than to be given something so amazingly perfect it may as well have been wrapped in a pretty pink bow with sparkles :-)

Eli is a young lady who has grown up in the music industry thanks to her famous dad rocker. Deacon is a guitarist wanting to be just like Eli's dad. Their paths cross and it is seriously like love at first sight. Sickeningly sweet and something fairy tales are made of. Shaw is Eli's best friend / ex boyfriend who wants her back. Even though this sounds like a love triangle, it really isn't. There's no cheating, no question of who she wants to be with, and no picking sides.

What I love...
* The different point of views. Some chapters were from Deacons POV and some were form Eli's. I love knowing what's inside the characters heads and this was a perfect example of how its done correctly without repeating scenes or simply adding words to buff the story out.
* Shaw's love for Eli. It's undeniably clear that he would do anything for that girl. His methods may be not to everyone's tastes but the passion and devotion behind his actions explains all there is to know. It doesn't hurt that he is so very hot and seriously, its enough to make anyone's panties melt! What I wouldn't do for that man!
* Eli. Considering her upbringing and the things she's been through, its a wonder she's anything near normal. I love her attitude and her spunk. Its such a refreshing change to have a main character so different from the normal damsel in distress / broke / virgin / college student. Eli is none of the above. This makes me happy!
* Deacon - I love his no nonsense attitude. He knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. He's a very wise man for someone with such a young head on his shoulders.
* Dave - Shaw's dad. He is seriously cool for an older dude. Aside from that though, he loves Eli like a daughter and isn't afraid to show it which gives me the warm and fuzzies.
* Willow & Duke. Their chemistry is in abundance and they could without doubt have their own spin off. They're funny yet compassionate, down to earth yet in their own little bubble. Above all, they're true friends to Eli and Deacon.
* Annie. Nothing to say except crying with laughter!

Without spoiling the story, this had me hooked from the very first page and I read it in one sitting. What happened was completely unexpected and thoroughly gutted me, I did not see that coming. At all! My heart remained broken for 3 chapters and during that time I cried so very much my eyes resembled pee holes in the snow. The raw emotion and angst was beyond explainable and isn't something I will be forgetting any time soon.

My favourite one liner...
"This is my breath, my heart, my life - without which I would have nothing." Deacon's words put my heart back together again and all was right with the world :-)

It was alright...

Eli's character started off strong, but her heart has been broken way too young and she's still dealing with her evil mother and still living in the shadow of the memory of her father. I liked her at first but then moving forward, I question her mentality. Sorry.

Deacon is hot but with a shady past that is still following him... Though he has left it behind him, he does not forget those that helped him.

The plot, a rock legend daughter and a lead guitarist instantly attracted, instant connection... both have their own demons to deal with. Then a suspenseful climax towards the end.

The chemistry, the sex, for what is there, was alright. BUT I can count the times that they spent together. And it all happened just really fast!

Written under Eli and Deacon's POV.

Well I really like eli and deacon. There relationship together went back when they met when they were young because of eli dad as he was a big rocker and deacon wanted to meet him and he did with her help. After meeting up with deacon again many years later to see his new band play to sign them. deacon has a bad past which causes a bit of trouble in paradise and results in something not so good. After loving all the characters the only reason I didn't give this a 5 star was due to the drugs and crime involved not my kind of read. xx

A double dose of Oklahoma writers this week for me and I was thrilled with both new-to-me-authors. It makes me smile to know I'm supporting new talent from my home state that is making its mark. Sarah Dosher has written a captivating and emotionally bittersweet story in "A Tale of Blue." I was won over and won't stop at just one. I'm planning on reading all her previously released books as well.

This is the tale of Eli Blue, who grew up in the shadow of her famous and talented guitarist father. He was always a kind and generous dad and put his "Princess" on a pedestal. He wasn't perfect and he had problems -- s drug overdose took his life far too soon. That's only the beginning to a sad tale of woe. Eli's mother is one sick psycho crack head. She is abusive and extremely selfish -- a real waste of a person. Readers will detest this woman the moment you first meet her.

Eli has loved and lost -- but still retains a life long friendship with Shaw. Although Eli proclaims to forgive, she'll never forget that Shaw cheated on her. And then she meets Deacon, a guitarist whose talent equals that of her father's. Deacon is a dark and broken man. His only happiness comes from his music until he meets Eli.

There are plenty of ups, downs, twists, turns and just plain hurt before they come close to having their happily-ever-after. Well-worth the read and one I recommend. This is a standalone story -- no cliffhanger.

What makes the most money for this business? Dead rock stars. - Courtney Love

Adolescents are attracted to tragic heroes. That's why rock stars dress like homeless people. Adolescence is a fall. It's when every child becomes an orphan. - Heather O'Neill

This is the first book by Sarah Dosher I have read, and it will not be my last. Which is sort of odd, as this isn’t usually a book I would have picked up on my own. The whole “angsty rock star” thing has just never done it for me. However, to say that Ms. Dosher pleasantly surprised me with her handling of the storyline is a vast understatement. It grabbed me from the first and didn’t let go until the last page.

This is very much a ‘different’ sort of rock-n-roll story. Eli Blue Savage grew up in a modern day fairy tale. The daughter of a rock superstar, Eli lived backstage at rock concerts, mostly bored out of her brain, but thrilled to be with her father, a famous “Rock God” guitarist. With a mother who rocks the “evil, psychotic” stereotype, Eli finds herself immersed in the backstage lifestyle with a father who adores her beyond all reason. That is, until her beloved father succumbs to a drug overdose leaving Eli to find his body. One wonders, of course, how a loving father could put his daughter into a position where this could happen – but that whole “rock god lifestyle” was apparently too much for Savage to resist, and Eli found herself alone.

Eli still manages to hold her life together, even after her devastating loss. She grows up solid and drug free, goes to college, and now she is taking over her father’s music management company, Savage Man. The problem is, her mother. Her drug and alcohol addicted, vicious, psychotic mother who will do anything to bring Eli down and take back the company. A company she nearly ran into the ground under her custodianship until Eli came of age.

Now in control of a floundering Savage Man, Eli books her first band, The Elle’s, led by her best friend Willow. Willow, who leads Eli to a new possibility – Unforgiven. And while the lead, Duke, isn’t someone who grabbed my attention, Deacon certainly did. Sitting back in the shadows, immersed in the music for the sake of the music, Deacon is a different sort of rock star. And Eli is a different sort of female lead for a romance novel. Strong, determined, and immensely likable, Eli is a charming character. Deacon is charming at times, though with a somewhat dark and edgy feel that keeps him from being either a bland or an archetypical “romance hero.”

I had a few issues with the book, things I would have handled differently – especially Shaw. But that is the point, isn’t it? We read for a glance into another world, a chance to flow into another reality, another time, another possibility. With a strong undercurrent of suspense, thriller, and mystery as well as a strong and well-written romance, Ms. Dosher pulls her story off in spades, introducing characters to love, as well as characters which you will love to hate.

If you like a romance with an actual story line, this is definitely one to read. I don’t believe you will be disappointed.

“You’re better than you think, Deacon, you have everything to give me. You just have to let me take it, just focus on me – on us, don’t lose me.”

4 stars! I am a big fan of Sarah Dosher and have been really looking forward to this book. Since it is a bit of a deviation from her Storms of Life series, I was curious to see how her writing would translate into a grittier storyline. While the themes in the Storms of Life books are just that, “stormy”, dealing with darker subjects in life, A Blue Tale still takes on dark subjects, but adds a layer of rougher, wilder, more mature subjects. I was not disappointed.

The storyline was creative and unique bringing a bit of mystery, suspense and originality to your average rocker novel. I loved all the touches of every little girl’s favorite story, Cinderella, mixed in here and there. There were passages throughout the book that were insanely cleaver and witty that made pause and say, “That was a moment of pure brilliance.”

The characters were ones I loved and hated at the same time. Well, I pretty much loved Eli the entire book, but I was back and forth on Deacon. He has this really unfiltered roughness and gruffness that I flipped back and forth finding endearing. Now Shaw, I adored him the entire book, even when I probably shouldn’t have adored him. And, yeah, sigh, that’s all I can say about that.

Now, I know you all know that I am NOT a fan of love triangles, and as you can see, we’ve got two boys in this book. There is no funny business, everything is pretty cut and dry, though not painless. But, I did just fine with it all.

Taking a step from a more mature young adult novel set to a sexy contemporary came across as an easy transition. The book was steamy and tasteful, which makes it even hotter when a few things are left to your imagination.

I will have to say that the only reason that this didn’t get a 5 from me was that I wasn’t able to connect emotionally with the characters like I usually do with her books. That is normally what I love about her writing; her ability to draw you in and make you feel like you are living her characters lives. In this book, I felt more like an outsider reading someone else’s story.

In a world of the same book after the same book, I was delighted with this storyline. For me, the ending was beautiful and well written. I was able to find completeness with the story and am able to tuck this one away with a smile on my face. As usual, I am looking forward to more great things from Sarah Dosher. Go buy this book and read it, along with all her others, you won’t be disappointed.

I do not know how to review this book! It started out so well, but then it lost me around 50%. Ugh! I was so enjoying this book, it was intriguing me completely and I was willingly following the seemingly deep and almost primal connection Eli (Elizabeth) and Deacon had for one another. I was even dealing with the lingering feelings Eli had for Shaw, even if I found them frustrating and created a love triangle (which I normally avoid reading). What I wasn't expecting was for all of the angst in the story to be brought about by what it was. It involved Deacon's past, yet it didnt?! Huh?!? I am still confused! This plot line simply did not end up making much sense once it was all laid out, and it ultimately had a couple of layers. I found myself scratching my head thinking to myself, "what the hell just happened?!"

I don't know, I felt information was left out or something, time was skipped and the story definitely lost its way. It almost read like the author was excited about her story idea and she wrote it so quickly that she left out key information that might have tied it all up in order for it to make sense.

I also felt like Deacon was kind of a shell of a character, we never heard about why he was in foster care to begin with, we seemed to be given info on a need to know basis. I guess the most important was revealed when we learn how music saved him, but he still seemed hollow for some reason.

I didn't really enjoy the epilogue as much as I was hoping to, I was so disappointed that my excitement level for this book didn't last. This author is very talented, I will look in to other books and see how it goes.

Btw...I realize Eli is short for Elizabeth and the author probably spelled it that way since it is short for Elizabeth, but I had a hell of a time reading it as Ellie in my head rather than Eli (E-lie). I would have preferred it be spelled Ellie for better flow in my reading.

OMG! I freaking loved this book this is a must read and I wasn't disappointed glad I bought it!

Elizabeth Blue Savage is the daughter of rock star legend Kirk Savage. "Eli" has a dark past that still haunts her for years. She was verbally and physically abused by her drug addicted mother. Her father takes her in and raises her by himself even though it's hard being on tour for his fame. Tragedy strikes Eli while she's a little girl and is forced to move back with her mother until she is 18 to finally leave and be on her own with her father's will and fame while her mother is left with nothing but her anger and hate toward her daughter.
But Eli is not alone Shaw is her best friend and was always there to help her and pick up the broken pieces of her heart. They've been together for years and have a love that was meant to be at least Eli thought so until Shaw breaks her heart and made a mistake that he regrets. He tries his hardest to win the love back that he once lost throughout the book but let's just say I didn't like him much even though the ending was ugh not going to spoil it....

The sexy blue-eyed Deacon also has a past moving from foster home to foster home but had a love for music that was his life his dream to be a rock star like Kirk Savage. Until he finds a new love he just can't get out of his mind Elizabeth Savage but she is torn between two guys whom she both adores and can't seem to choose between the guy who was always there to pick up her broken heart and shattered her heart at the same time- Shaw or the blue eyed Deacon her Prince Charming who will do anything to have her by his side and fix her shattered heart to remove the darkness from her past and the darkness from his past she is his light in his dark life his Cinderella.

The story of Eli Blue, daughter to a dead rock legend, and now working for her fathers music company scouting for new talent, enter Deacon Chastain a guitarist of the new band shes thinking of signing.

Strangely this book had all the right ingredients for a great story, a past meeting between the lead characters, Shaw, Eli's best friend and former love interest who desperately wants to win back her love, and Deacons rather blurry past, and that's generally the problem with this story, its a bit blurry.
What should have been a book full of angst just ended up being confusing and it did seem a bit rushed.
Deacon was a complex person, that much we knew, but despite the story being told in Eli and Deacons POV, I didn't feel we really got to know Deacon, the feelings just weren't projected, I love it in a book when you pick up snippets of a characters traits and past slowly in a book, but I just felt that with Deacon they kept coming and coming and not quite making a complete picture of him. He was a complex man with a sad and obviously shady past, but I don't feel we got the whole story and I personally just wasn't feeling him, when usually I love those kinds of characters.

I think maybe the plot got carried a way a bit much, I think that it would have been a better story if the characters relationships were worked on more rather than introducing an evil mother, a drug addict best friend and her brother whose in prison and then a kidnap that turns violent. Already there was enough with Eli and Shaw and Eli and Deacon.

It was a 2.5 - 3 star read for me, great cover though.

This book was AMAZING!!!! I could not put it down.

I loved Deacon and Eli together. At first I had a hard time liking Shaw. I kept screaming 'GO AWAY' but I ended up falling in love with him as well. I laughed and I cried (big ugly tears) several times. There is a character that I will not name, that had me so freaking mad I wanted to strangle them. But they were also what made this love story so special.

I fell in love with Eli from the start. My heart ached for her. For having to go through losing her father in such a horrific way at such a young age. Although music was his life, he also liked the darker side of it. The side that so many get wrapped up in. No child should see a parent go through that. And for the fact that she had a crappy mother who didn't care for her. HATED HER! Poor Eli was on her own but she was determined to make something of herself.

Shaw got on my nerves A LOT. He was the typical ex-boyfriend who wouldn't go away. I hated how he had once hurt Eli. But people make mistakes and he proved to her that he still loved her. He would have done anything to keep her safe.

I LOVE Deacon! <3
He loved her just as much. He just didn't have the financial stability that Shaw did. He would give his life for her because that was all he had to give. Deacon had a rough childhood. Growing up in the foster homes can't be easy. But through music he found a way to survive and keep fighting.

These main characters were amazing. All of the characters were great. I cannot express how perfect this book was. Sarah Dosher did a phenomenal job. Thanks for such an awesome book girl.

Love you

Lord, have mercy, this book was utterly beautiful. Lyrical. Magical. Pure writing Gold.

It flowed and worked its way into my mind and heart where it will always have a place. Absolutely breathtaking. The actual plot line was...almost a little ... choppy but the writing more than made up for it. This book left me in awe and was a wonderful late night companion. The following is an excerpt from chapter 11 and it speaks for itself. Perfection.

"I spun in a circle and watched as my long, flowing dress danced in the breeze. It was a gorgeous blue - pale like the afternoon sky. It covered me from the tip of my well-manicured toes to the curve of my neckline. It made my whole body sparkle in the moonlight streaming through the window...

Soft music echoed through the room. It was a slow, methodical rhythm unlike anything I’d heard before. It drew me to the other end of the room, toward the source of the sound. My heels made a low tapping sound on the wood floor, perfectly timed with the beat of the song and the pounding in my chest.

The closer I got to the music, a shroud of darkness moved over me. With every step I could feel it surrounding me, engulfing me. I fought forward until all I could hear was the tapping of my heels, the darkness blocking out the music. I stopped, trying to listen for the rhythm, for the beat – but heard only the dull hum of silence"

~Princess meets the Rock Star~ A Blue Tale by Sarah Dosher was a Fab, quick read! Lots of story and great flow... I couldn't put this one down. Right off the bat, I knew this was going to be my kind of book.

For me, A Blue Tale was a story about fate, never knowing what the future has in store. Having recently broken up with Shaw, her childhood best friend and boyfriend of many years, Eli (Elizabeth) meets Deacon and is instantly drawn to him. Will her newfound feeling for Deacon keep her from getting back together with Shaw, her anchor in life?? I loved all the characters in this story and many times found myself completely on the fence about Eli's choices in life. But once I understood her past, it made sense. I have to give Ms. Dosher kudos for creating the most creep-tastic character I have read in a long time. You'll understand when you meet him. UGH... my skin was crawling!

A Blue Tale has something for everyone: a little mystery and suspense, surprising twists and steamy hot shmexy time :-) I can't wait for you all to read about Annie ;-) I nearly woke my husband up, I was laughing so hard!!! But most of all A Blue Tale is a love story, one that will keep you on your toes.

Looking for a read that you won't want to put down?? A Blue Tale by Sarah Dosher might be just what you are looking for in your next read!

This is a standalone

I found that i really enjoyed reading this book. It was another take on the rocker story. It was extremely enjoyable to read. I loved how Eli was a very strong independent woman who knew what she wanted. I enjoyed how Deacon was not your typical bad boy rocker who slept with everything that wore a skirt. It was extremely refreshing to see a rocker with a little more substance. The story I felt flowed really well. The love story was great and you could feel the chemistry between the two characters. To me that is an important part whether or not you can feel their heat through the pages

I liked to see two people a little broken come together like they were meant to be. It was an very enjoyable read once I picked it up I had a very hard time putting it down. I look forward to reading more from this author since this was my first read from her.

Wow! So I took a couple of days to review this book as I wanted it to settle in and sit with me for a bit. It stuck with me and I couldn't stop thinking about it. There were a lot of things that worked and some that did not but overall Sarah Dosher has done it again - created something so different from her Storm of Life series that was completely enjoyable, action packed, complete with sexy rockers and fun and intense scenes that kept me interested throughout my read.

Tears threaten to fall already and the story immediately sucks me in as the prologue introduces us to Eli Blue. Eli's dad is Kirk Savage, a famous guitarist. Much of Eli's life as a young child is following her dad on tours as he plays his beautiful music for his fans. We the reader are treated to the behind the scenes of a famous rockstar life yet we are shown the beauty of a father's love for his only daughter. Eli's dad dies tragically and she is left alone with a witch of a mother and now the sole heir to her father's company Savage Man, a music management company that signs new artists.

Eli has a knack for signing new talent and along with her best friend attends a concert for the band Unforgiven, where she meets guitar player Deacon. Deacon has had a tough life growing up in foster homes and on the streets but he has always had his music. He is so talented that even as a reader, I could feel and sense it in my bones and in my soul. When Eli and Deacon meet, you can feel the attraction from the start. As the story progresses, I realize that there is a history there as well which you will have to learn about yourself. I liked Deacon - he was that mysterious and dark rockstar that you just wanted to get to know, peel the layers and get inside of his head to get to know more about.

I will say that what I loved most about this couple was the love the grew between them showing us how each one wanted to help the other conquer their demons. I enjoyed this book because of the intensity I felt throughout. Eli has a past that haunts her and you can literally feel the emotions emitting from the pages. The secondary characters were amazing - from her best friend Willow to the cheating ex boyfriend, Shaw. I want to mention that though I loathe cheaters, I liked Shaw a lot.....He realized he made a huge mistake and attempts to win Eli back repeatedly and though she doesn't welcome his advances through it all continues to love Eli and protect her. This is evidenced throughout the book and I really loved him! Sometimes I almost wished that Eli would choose him!

Sarah's writing has definitely grown with each book that I have read. She has given us something so completely different and I enjoyed the emotional intensity, the pain, suspense, sadness and ultimately true love. The emotions were done so well!

What had me indecisive on how to rate was that at times while reading, I was confused. I felt that some parts were rushed over and I wanted to know more. I wanted more from Deacon's point of view, more depth into Deacon and Eli's relationship and connection and more insight into Deacon's past. I think with more of this, I would have felt more of a connection with the characters and my rating would have been a more solid 4.

I think this book is definitely worth a read if you are looking for some intensity combined with some rocker love....Sarah did a great job and I look forward to more from this author <3

Passion. Tragedy. Music. This isn’t your every day rock star romance. A Blue Tale is author Sarah Dosher’s third novel and a hauntingly beautiful twist on happily ever after. Sarah Dosher has previously written two novels, Haven from the Storm and Before the Storm. This novel is more mature than the Storms of Life Series, but her talent shines through all the same.

The rock legend’s daughter. Eli Blue Savage grew up in the spotlight. Her father, Kirk Savage, is an icon in the music industry and exposed Eli to the highs and lows of rock-n-roll starting at a young age. Having a toxic, fame whore mother left Eli with no choice but to spend her adolescence on the road with her father as he did all he could to provide her with some sense of security and love. As hard as he tried to give her normal, Kirk wasn’t immune to the darker side of the rock star lifestyle. Despite a shattered youth, Eli Blue has grown into a powerful, strong minded female who is developing a name for herself beyond the shadow of her father’s legacy. Music is her world. It’s all she’s ever known, and it’s her only source of solace from the torment of her past.

The musician with a dark past. Deacon Chastain was raised in the foster care system, and as a result has grown up fighting to survive. A chance meeting with Kirk Savage sparked a desire and passion for music within Deacon that led him on a path towards salvation. Regardless of the obstacles, music is his saving grace.

Words cannot do justice to convey how phenomenal this story is. The first line of the prologue piqued my curiosity. Within two paragraphs I was swept away into the pages and taken on a journey of love, loss, and redemption. Anyone who has read Sarah Dosher's books knows she is ruthless in her ability to make you ugly cry. Weaving words together in such a masterful way that you find yourself emotionally invested in this story and these characters. You laugh when they do, you blush when things get steamy, and your heart absolutely fractures when events take a dramatic twist. The story shattered my soul only to piece it back together in an epilogue that is perfection and utter bliss.

I applaud Sarah Dosher for taking a risk and writing A Blue Tale. She stepped away from her existing series to write a standalone novel. She transitioned to a Contemporary Romance/New Adult genre from her previous Young Adult/New Adult publications. Her risks are my reward. I could not put this story down, and long (and I mean long) after finishing it, I cannot get it out of my mind. I could read this story over and over and it will never be stale. It has found it’s place on my “All Time Favorite Reads” list and Sarah Dosher has become one of my favorite authors. I am beyond thrilled to see what magic her mind will create next.

ARC RECEIVED FOR HONEST REVIEW

The premise of A Blue Tale is not new - rock star bad boy meets rich girl. What makes this different is where the story takes us.

Eli is the daughter of a rock god, and because of that, she is gun shy of relationships. Everyone wants something of her, but do they want her? She has everything a girl can want ~ successful business, great friends, more money than she could ever spend.

But she is wanting. After tragic incidents in her life, betrayal by those she loves, she is empty. She just wants someone or something to make her feel again,

Then there are the men in her life ~ Shaw, the man who hurt her like no other could - at least that's what she feels right now. Shaw is a bit of a douche, but at the end of the day I could kind of understand his actions, however misguided they may be.

And Deacon... he is just... Deacon. He is the swoonworthy rocker who knocks her off her feet. A broody musician, he can see through to her soul. He is a bit of a mystery wrapped up in an enigma. There is more than meets the eye with this one.

But you can't help but love the guy, especially when he talks like this:

"You look f*&king gorgeous tonight, princess." He said as he turned on his side to face me and cupped his hand on my cheek. "And if, for some crazy ass reason, you decide you still want anything to do ewith me tomorrow, I promise not to stop loving every inch of your body until you scream so loud, the neighbors know my name."

Hot, right?

There is tension between Shaw, Deacon and Eli, but it isn't really a love triangle as such. It is a difficult situation dealt with the best way that Eli can at the time.

I did feel that maybe we could have had a bit more about Deacon's blurry past. We got the basics of things, but as these were so much a part of who he is now, it felt a bit brushed over.

I also felt that the story lost it's way a little bit with the introduction of the evil mothers and kidnappers plotline. I don't feel that is added much to the story, the time could have been used more on the Eli/Shaw/Deacon plotline.

I did love the secondary characters, especially Willow and Duke. These two are so ingrained in Eli and Deacon's lives I loved how they play pivotal parts in their lives.

Overall I did enjoy A Blue Tale, even with those couple of little things.

One thing that did bug me though - Eli is short for Elizabeth, but instead of reading it at Ellie, I was reading it at E-lie the whole book. This might not bother you, but it did me and interrupted the smooth flow of reading as I had to go back and mentally change it after reading it.

This is the first work of Ms Dosher I have had the pleasure to read, and I am sure I will read more.

Katie's Review:
I absolutely loved this book. It was a love story but not your typical love story. This story was about the epic love between Elizabeth “Eli” Blue Savage and Deacon Chastain. It wasn’t an easy love but it worked for them.

This story had its ups and down. The author, Sarah Dosher, made you feel everything Eli and Deacon was feeling. They meet, they feel a connection right away, and they fall in love. Her best friend/ex-boyfriend Shaw is in the picture and you think it is heading a certain way and, BAM!, Sarah threw in a twist that I did not expect. Completely didn’t expect it. It kinda made my mouth drop open.

Because of this twist, tragedy happens. Eli is heartbroken and that causes her to retreat into herself and mourn the loss of someone very important in her life and she pushes Deacon away. And because of his undying love for her, he waits and waits. He decides that, while he will never love again, he needs to let Eli go. But she doesn’t let him. She is ready to heal and to let him help her. And their epic love continues.

Quotes I Love:

“Annie? Yeah, I named my dick Annie-my penis, my schlong, my deep-v-diver, my one-eyed snake, my flesh flute, my DICK-I’m aware there are other names for it, but that’s not what I chose to call him. So what man would willingly name his number one symbol of masculinity Annie? One whose manhood was reminiscent of an anaconda, that’s who.”

“That’s when I knew it; in that moment I knew I loved him. It was a new love, a small love, but love nonetheless. I’d felt it lingering since that first night, but it was growing in my heart now. It wasn’t a needy lust-filled reaction; it was love that had sprung from the depths of a place I hadn’t felt in years. It was pure; as clear and true as the man before my eyes.”

Erin's mini-Review

This book was so refreshing! It isn't your typical same ole' same ole' rocker love story. It's different. The storyline, the characters, the dialogue even. I loved that it didnt blend in with every other rock romance. I also loved these characters. Deacon is just...*swoon*. I wasn't sure how I felt about Shaw. I felt like no matter what he said, I just was not trusting him. I understood they had a long-term friendship, but I needed Eli to be with Deacon.

*Spoiler*

Of course, I didn't want what happens to a certain character to indeed happen, but I was happy with the outcome by the end. Oh, and the song Deacon sings at the end - I need that on my Spotify asap ;) Loved this book! 4 stars from me.

A KICK-ASS ROCKER VERSION OF A CINDERELLA FAIRY-TALE, BUT WITH SCUMBAGS RATS INSTEAD MICE AND A DEACON FOR A DAMN PRINCE CHARMING!

A Blue Tale is about Elizabeth Blue Savage. Eli is the daughter of rock star legend Kirk Savage. Eli grew up with in the music industry, but she also spent her entire life believing in fairytales. She thought her Prince Charming would appear one day would come and rescue her until she had a streak of heartbreaks and she suddenly stops believing.

Eli meets Deacon Chastain one day while he was trying to sneak backstage to meet her idol, Kirk Savage. Eli and Deacon immediately become friends while waiting for her dad, the young Eli and Deacon entertain each other. Who knew years later they would meet again, but slightly different adult circumstances.

“I looked at her blushed cheeks, and her soulful eyes, and knew my life would never be the same. I just wasn’t sure if it would be a one-night life changing experience, or one that changed me forever. Truthfully, I wanted that change, I needed to become someone I wasn’t. Because that guy was a certified bastard that seriously needed his ass kicked…A verbal ass kicking that consisted of three short, simple, yet sweet words – Eli Blue Savage.” - Deacon

Eli and Deacon were now grown adults fighting demons of their past, but can they both overcome their demons to move forward with their futures.

“Suck it up, Buttercup…drop it and move forward – never back.” – Eli

“Your mind knows mine, your body knows mine. That’s all that matters. Don’t try to make sense of it, just trust what you feel – trust in us.” - Deacon

Will Eli really understand how helping a little boy meeting his idol shapes the man she knows today as Deacon? Will Eli be able to trust her body, heart, and soul with anyone other than herself, so she can allow to love? Will Deacon understand he deserves a better life with happiness or will he walk away from the woman he finds his happiness, to only shatter heart?

“This is my breath, my heart, my life – without which I would have nothing.” - Deacon

Author Sarah Dosher’s has done a wonderful job writing a ROCK’IN LOVE STORY that will capture your attention immediately and find yourself unable to put the book down. You will also experience a roller coaster of emotions from feeling SCARED, SAD, SUSPENSEFUL, SHOCKED, TRAGEDY, and TENDERNESS.

I rate Sarah Dosher’s A Blue Tale– 5 ROCKING STARS!

4.5 Stars!!!

There is something about watching an author bloom; one where you read her debut novel and think, “Wow. She’s got it!” She knows how to make you connect with and fall in love with her characters. She is able to plunge you into whatever world she has created and make you want to visit it over and over again. Sarah Dosher is one of these authors. I absolutely fell in love with her writing with her 1st book, Haven from the Storm (which is a different series than A Blue Tale.) With each book, Sarah gets better and better. A Blue Tale is her 3rd book, and she does not disappoint.

Elizabeth (Eli) Blue Savage is the daughter of rock legend, Kirk Savage. She is unlike other famous children. She is surprisingly grounded, works for what she has, and doesn’t take things for granted. Besides her father’s tragic death when she was a young teenager, her life is seemingly perfect. However, as we find out about her past abuse by her mother, we see how hard her life once was. I love Eli; she has an underlying strength that she isn’t aware of. She loves with her whole heart and is fiercely loyal.

Shaw is her childhood best friend and ex-boyfriend. The love the two have for each other runs deep. I loved Shaw. Other than the one mistake he made where Eli is concerned, I fell for him. If Deacon didn’t eclipse him, I would definitely want these two to end up together. Honestly, there were times when I was rooting for him. He is always there for her and looking out for her, even when she tries to push him away.

Oh Deacon, Deacon, Deacon. His skeletons run deep. This man is definitely broken and who could blame him? Growing up in the foster care system and on the streets has made him a bit hard and very rough around the edges. But, he is a really good guy. He also loves Eli. The two have met briefly in the past, and he feels he owes her his life. He feels like she saved him, and in a way, she did. As the past catches up to him and infiltrates their present, he ultimately take a huge chance to save her and tragedy strikes. Together, the two have to conquer the murky waters of loss, healing, and love. They have to learn how to deal with the choices they make and guilt they feel.

I loved every second of this book. It is beautifully and skillfully written, which is what I’ve learned to expect from Sarah Dosher. It is a definite must read!

Sarah has this incredible way of painting such a vivid picture in front of you, not just with her words but the emotion she creates behind them, that you can't help but get lured into the story...page after page. Although I didn't cry nearly as much as I did in her other books, I should have been prepared - and know better - that she'd break my heart. That sweet, sweet Sarah I think enjoys making her readers snotty cry. Let's just say the last few chapters (and Epilogue) I dragged my trusty Puffs box to my side and clung to them until the last word....not that I wasn't a bit misty eyed through out.

Eli Blue Savage is the famous daughter of rock Legend Kirk Savage who died tragically, leaving her his label and legacy. She works her ass off to go from being the-daughter-of to being Eli Blue Savage.

Deacon Chastain is the incarnate of Kirk Savage down to his blue guitar. Growing up not having much and having to do whatever he could to survive, music was his one saving grace...and a girl who took a chance and believed in him when no one else did.

When Eli and Deacon meet the attraction is startling, it's electric and undeniable. They have a past that links them and pulls them together...but it's also their respective pasts that threaten to pull them apart forever.

Your heart will ache with each of their struggles. Eli not only has to contend with her feelings for Deacon but her ex Shaw, who I loved then hated and then loved and loved and loved. She struggles with the the loss of her father, the conniving bitch of a mother she was saddled with and getting caught up in a plot twist I never saw coming. It's Deacon's past, his heart - so big for the ones he loves - that almost destroys not only his love with Eli but everything he's worked so hard to accomplish in the music industry.

From the start the Prologue had me panicked and twisted up in knots. I kept trying to guess where it was all going but I was so busy figuring it out and clinging to every word that when shit hits the fan...and does it ever...I was completely thrown. A Blue Tale was beautifully unexpected. Nothing ordinary or predictable about it. Every twist, every turn, will draw you in and when it's all over, you'll want to turn around and do it all over again.

Don't miss out on A Blue Tale. Sarah has once again told an exceptional story you will not want to let pass by.

I had the honor of beta-reading this book…and…whoa. mama. I think if you keep up here at Word, you know I’m a sucker for a messed up, bad boy. Well, Deacon Chastain doesn’t disappoint ;) A Blue Tale has been described as a modern day Cinderella story. Sounds kinda different from what Ms. Dosher has written in the “past” (I quoted that because well, Sarah is like Superwoman and has had THREE books out in 2013), eh? Well, IT IS!!!

Anyway, back to what I’m here for and time for me to quit rambling about how much I love this author.
Eli Blue hasn’t had such an easy go at life. Her father, a legendary rock star, was taken from her much too early and her evil mother is well, a selfish, bitch. Eli is attempting to successfully take over her father’s recording company and she’s on the lookout for up and coming bands to sign. Enter Deacon Chastain and his hooligans. It’s obvious from the get go that Deacon’s got issues. The thing I love about their “realtionship,” is, even though he’s a total dick, she doesn’t take it. She calls him on his bluff. She KNOWS he’s not the badass he claims to be.

OH! I must mention, there’s a THIRD little um, blip in this equation. Shaw is….I think Shaw wants to be a good guy but his love for Eli blinds everything else. I’m not a Shaw fan. I’ve tried. ANYWAY, that’s not important. Shaw is a VERY vital part of Eli’s past. He’s always been her “person.” He’s the one who scoops her up and makes her feel normal again. Like most love stories go, he messed up. In a major way and betrayed her trust, and she’s ready to move on. She’s done with the romantical aspect of their relationship.

Eli has an AMAZING support system. Her friends are the type of friends I think we all strive to have and their relationship comes out. Eli tries to hide within herself, but they won’t allow her to.

I really should write more about this story, but I’m afraid once I start I won’t be able to stop and well, that would ruin all that this story entails.
Let me just say, this story has a love story, suspense, some drama and a few steamy scenes. Said steamy scenes…will leave you happy :)
Ms. Dosher is just a lovely writer. She evokes emotions and I know the whole 2 guys and a chick storyline may turn some people off, but this is DEFINITELY not your typical love triangle.

How many of you have watched the different variations of Cinderella?  I mean there are millions.  We all have our favorite, and as a child, just like Eli.  Cinderella was always my favorite, and still is to this day!  Now imagine instead of a glass slipper, you have a blue guitar, and the rest is history... well kinda!

Eli the daughter of rocker Kirk Savage.  She grew up around rockers, but her dad did a fabulous job of keeping the truth about backstage, drugs, and groupies away from her until she was old enough to figure it out.  As a child she found good in all people, but after being hurt she put up a wall.  She is a confident young lady, who's sucessful, and when she hears Deacon's fingers graze his guitar for the first time, she knows he is something special.  What she doesn't know is how she saved him a long time ago.

Deacon, something about him made me <3 him from the get go.  I don't know if I just saw honesty within his soul or if it was the fact that he's had a hard life.  I wanted something great to happen to him.  I was and still am #TEAMDEACON.  He's got a past, and one that haunts him, pushes everything to a breaking point, but through it all, he sees a life worth living.

Shaw, is Eli's best friend since they were kids, they crossed a line, he thought with his other head, and she will never love him the same.  I wasn't sure how I felt about him, but I will say he grew on me.  By the end, I didn't hate Shaw instead my heart hurt for him and his decisions.  He pays the ultimate price, but I believe that he wouldn't have it any other way.

A Blue Tale is a story about love, loss, heartache, forgiveness, truth, and moving forward.  It's about doing things together instead of alone, facing your fears, overcoming your past, and keeping memories alive.  This story is one that pulled me in from the first word, but by the end, I felt my heart hurt. The story of Eli and Deacon isn't your storybook Cinderella.  It's better!  She doesn't meet her Prince Charming; instead, she meets a man that exceeds Prince Charmings expecations and keeps on giving.

If you are looking for a book, that is full of angst, love, drama, and oh-no-she-didn't moments then A Blue Tale by Sarah Dosher is for you.  She never ceases to amaze me with the words that she creates, and I can't wait to see what is in her future!  Get your copy of A Blue Tale today!

REVIEW 5 ROCK STARS WOW way to rip my heart out and stomp on it !! I was so excited to sign on for this tour I am a rock star book junkie , this book totally fed into my addiction and did not disappoint at all. I have to mention I loved the characters names , so refreshing to have some new and different names I hadn't heard before or at least in awhile !! Eli Blue is struggling with life. Loving her job trying to find and sign new bands to the label her dad built back in the day , enjoying her friends , but also feeling alone because of loss she has suffered many many times. Eli has a best friend , ex boy Shaw that she has known since childhood , but he has recently cheated and she is stuck between forgiveness and realizing they really are just better off friends. Shaw is persistent and not accepting of that at all. Sometimes reality is too much for Eli and she wants to just hide away. Her emotions are so real it was very easy to relate to her. Never once did I want to grab her and yell , get over it. We also have Deacon , guitarist in a band that Eli is signing , long ago he met Eli and her dad Kirk Savage. To say Deacon was obsessed with Kirk would be an understatement. And it was that chance meeting that changed his life and got him on the path that he was currently on in a rock band. Deacon immediately feels a spark with Eli and she feels it too. But with past issues and present circumstances with they be able to act on that spark ? Shaw is not happy with Eli and Deacon and he tries his best to put a stop to their budding relationship. Deacon's past is creeping around and it is posing an actual threat to Eli's life. With a slew of twist and turns and a DEVASTATING tragedy the story unfolds and wraps you up , never letting go. You will laugh ,cry, scream and who knows what else. Again Eli's emotions are so real and you want to crawl in that hole with her and cuddle. Then you want to jump for joy when she snaps out of it !! Such a roller coaster of emotions. Then you get to the last page and wonder , hmmmmm will we get more or not ?? THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER - THE END WOW I am impressed by Sarah's writing and story line. Great job and thanks for introducing me to a few more HOT GUYS to add to my long list of BOOK BOYFRIENDS !!

Eli Blue Savage lives in the shadow of her rock star father’s memory. Running the record label he started before his death, she is surrounded by people who idolized the man. When her best friend drags her to a concert, it doesn’t surprise her that the guitarist plays a blue guitar just like her father, but the talent behind the player and the attraction she feels towards him does.

After a chance meeting with Kirk Savage orchestrated by the man’s 12 year old daughter, Deacon Chastain used music to pull himself out of the misery of his childhood and the destructive path he found himself traveling. Years later, when his band is signed by Savage Man offers his band a contract, his skepticism keeps him from jumping on board, even if the daughter of his idol is the one offering. But it doesn’t escape his notice that he reacts to Eli in a way he has never reacted before.

The chemistry between these two was off the charts. From the easy conversation that developed during their very first meeting, to the heat that smolders as adults, these two have it.

“Your mind knows mine, your body knows mine. That’s all that matters. Don’t try to make sense of it, just trust what you feel; trust in us.”

Each character’s pasts come back to insight various plot challenges. When Angela and Tony, the closest thing Deacon has to family, drag Eli and him into their troubles, his first reaction is to pull away from her to keep her out of the troubles of his past. Eli’s mother continually tries to get money and guilt from her daughter, and Shaw, Eli’s ex, just wants her back.

There were several unexpected twists in the story. One that made so much sense in hindsight I wondered how I didn’t see it coming, and another that left me reeling and never would have seen coming. Between the chemistry and the surprises, this was a great diversion from other rocker stories I’ve read. The plot was well developed, with several seemingly unconnected pieces coming together in such surprising ways that I couldn’t help being pulled in deep.

Thanks to Sarah Dosher for providing me with a complimentary copy in return for my honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.
