Everyone is in a Family now.

Bat-family. Super-family. Arrow-family. Aqua-family. And, yes, the Flash-family.

DC Editorial loved these movies a bit too much, maybe. This volume even has a souped up "Flashmobile"

The concept here was a great one, a Speed Force-powered alien invasion that only the speedsters are fast enough to react to (and conveniently centered on Central City where they are all located!) but the execution was regrettably tropey and timey-wimey.

Oh yeah, even though it's a different writer I have to keep the Brokeback GIF streak going:

If I can say one thing very positive about The Flash as a title, it would be that they wrap up their storylines (for the most part) within the same Volume. It tends to make them a bit longer and released further apart, but I appreciate that.
The story of this Volume is very entertaining but really straightforward as an idea. An alien race known as The Fraction comes to invade Earth. They use the Speed Force to conquer a planet before most would even know what happened. Unfortunately for them, the main Earth of the DCU has TONS of speedsters.... so many, I'm not sure who all of them were in this book. Speed Force heroes against Speed Force enemies equals "One Minute War".
Overall, the only really important thing is that Barry and Iris are now engaged.
Good book, good story, longer read.
Recommend.

All speedsters unite to fight against an alien invasion. I barely visually know half the cast, let alone their backgrounds or family ties or whatever reason they exist. That made me realize there’s way too many speedsters in the DCU.

That being said it wasn’t very good. The main idea is ok but all the rest kinda sucks. The art is serviceable at best and way too cartoony and colorful to be taken seriously.
The aliens' designs are bland, a faceless army of humanoids you never give a shit about. One of them is in a Dark Knights Metal cosplay while her hounds look like muppets Terror Dogs from Ghostbusters. The final boss looks like Mr Sinister on a bad day. Did I just hear ridiculous?

Too many speedsters, farcical aliens and unsuited art killed whatever interest I might have had in the plot.

PS: I said it before but I hate Wally’s kids. Particularly the girl.

The Flash Vol. 19: The One-Minute War

War can change a man. The call to arms leads the Flash Family into the ultimate sacrifice when aliens who can control the Speed Force take over the Earth in so short a time that even Superman is left frozen to the spot.

The artwork is great as always, but the plot is surprisingly effective at showing the Flash Family dynamic. Adams and team explore the bonds that the the Speedsters together in an incredibly poignant way.

Y terminamos el ciclo de la Tragedia de Wally West con la redención y un tabula rassa sacado de la nada.

I mean, good for him.

FANTASTIC!!! A crisis too big for one speedster to handle. It's all hands on deck as Wally will need the total might of the Flash family and other speedsters to take down a mysterious alien armada that is powered by the speed force. Jeremy Adams script is superb and this concept was a great way to end his run on the fastest man alive. What's funny about this well told tale is I am not a fan of this whole superhero family with the same power set. I think the Bat Family is too big, not to mention the countless Green lanterns, Wonder women, the Superman family. When everyone has the same power its just boring. But a good storyteller finds a way. Jeremy Adams amazing dialogue and fast paced story progression just make this a must read story arc for any flash fan, let alone a superhero comic book reader. All the speedsters just shine in this story. The only reason why I can't give this book five stars is that I found the artwork lackluster on some issues. A story this great deserved better visuals. DC comics should have teamed up Adams with a better flash artist like Howard Porter, Brett Booth, Ivan Reis or even Manapul would have been great. Don't get me wrong this was a great story it just could have been a A+ book if DC comics care more about what Adams was writing here. It is bitter sweet we don't get to keep Adams on the book but this arc cements this Flash run as a must read. Here are few other Flash books I enjoyed: Flash Forward,
Flashpoint,Batman/The Flash: The Button, Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave and the Bold, The Flash by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato Omnibus and DC Universe: Rebirth (2016) #1.

Jesus...
This is essentially 'Terminal Velocity' cranked up to 11.

An alien race figured out how to technologically connect to the Speed Force and they use it to strip planets of their resources. The bigger they've grown, as an empire, the more resources they need to collect. It's pretty much an endless task. They even use Speed Force users as a sort of battery to supercharge their starships and weaponry.

(we've also heard of them once before during Dark Crisis when the Flash Family found a planet stripped of its resources and looking a LOT like a Mad Max universe)

Now, they're coming to Earth and all the speedsters notice that their superspeed is 'on' and the world around them has frozen. Looks like it's another 'all hands on deck' Flash Family adventure.
-----
While this is mostly a fun storyline, it's fricking painfully obvious that there's TOO MANY SPEEDSTERS. It used to be a thing where they'd haul out all of them for a mega event and it made sense. This is just throwing them in and who knows what's going on. The 'One-Minute War Special even has Avery Ho (The Flash of China), Godspeed, and a future Jai West thrown in to fill some plot holes. It's just too much. Hell, at the end of this they even have
=====
Bonus: that boy they rescue from a Fraction battery is
Bonus Bonus: It took them THIS long to fix 'Heroes In Crisis'?
Bonus^3: Gold Beetle has ONE job (ok, maybe two...) What a mess!

An alien race invades Earth that can harness the energy of the Speed Force with technology, allowing them to conquer a planet in a single minute? And with time essentially frozen, the only ones who can STOP them are the Flash family?

That... is such a brilliant premise for a story, that I'm SHOCKED that no one else came up with it sooner. But thank God they didn't, because Jeremy Adams takes the concept and runs with it (pun intended)-- turning out a thrilling but still delightful and fun culmination to his time on the book.

The only reason this doesn't get a full five stars is because the villain army-- the Fraction-- are a little undercooked, and because the mechanics of the story's resolution are a tad nonsensical and overly convenient... But aside from that, this is a wonderful adventure that really gets the Flash and his family firing on all cylinders. It's a helluva fun read!

This was a fun story, and it brings the flash family together to fight against the new threat of the Fraction and we meet a lot of cool characters and I love the idea that they use speed force as a fuel and how our heroes have to fight that and it leads to cool moments for all the characters involved and love the moment with Wally's children especially his daughter and how she has to fight Miss murder and then there's that emotional hook for Barry and I love it and it leads to a big moment which is awesome!

But then seeing the retcons to HIC yet again and omg I love the idea of planet flash and well Gold Beetle showing up again! Its so awesome! Then there is the thing with how it ends in the big battle and its predictable but I love how it teases Admiral Vex might return!

It still remains one of my favorite Flash stories and I love the idea of these villains but was hoping they would have expanded on the villains but oh still a fun read!

The premise here - a worldwide catastrophe that takes place so rapidly that only speedsters can deal with it - is a good one. It brings in essentially the entire Flash family, teaming up against a new foe that's almost as fast as they are, and has some defences against their abilities. Added to this, there is some decent character material, notably for Evey, although some of the developments early on are sufficiently line-changing that you know some sort of Reset button has to be hit before the end. There are some clever ideas in here, and the broad cast of characters helps. (This is particularly notable in the special issue, which deals with events elsewhere while the main story is going on as well as filling in the villains' backstory). Overall, it's a fun story that, appropriately enough, keeps up the pace all the way through.

The Flash family face off against The Fraction, an invading force that attack between seconds, which means that only those who can perceive time at that speed have any chance of taking them down.

The Good - Adams' grasp of the Flash Family dynamic remains top notch, with everyone getting in on the action and some fun moments for everyone from Wally right down to Liberty Belle.

The Bad - The Fraction are kind of bland. Even though they have a leader and a field commander, neither character really makes an impact outside of being Evil, even with the One-Minute War Special providing some context.

A great idea, with some wonderful character work, but marred by a kind of boring villain group.

The Flash vol 19: One-Minute War
By Jeremy Adams

I was in a long reader's block on comics. Almost got fed up with all the same things again and again. But thanks to Wally ( THE GOAT ), I enjoyed reading comics again. Jeremy's Flash is so good. Putting Wally on the main line was the best decision.

One minute is just like most comic books in terms of plot, but the execution is much better. Like a book having impulse, Wally, Jay, and Mercury can not be bad. It was a fun read. The Flash family coming together to solve the problem and be super optimistic and wholesome is a trait that no other family has.

The artwork was good. The expressions were decent. Combining the artwork with the dialogue is quite good.

8/10

Every continuing volume from Jeremy Adams is a complete joy. Simultaneously being able to undo the terrible writing of Heroes in Crisis while bringing the Flash family to new heights. The writing is unique, giving a speed-based villain that isn't a copy of the heroes while having the stakes raised even higher, creating a world-ending event while explaining why the other heroes of the world can't help the Flashes. This is how the writers need to conduct an event that doesn't throw the entire company into disarray but rather changes the stakes of the character and their community. Grade: B+

Adams could be channeling Mark Waid in this volume. Oh, the writing isn't as sharp, but this is nonetheless a classic Flash family story, complete with weird speed-force villain and even a notable turning point in the lives of some of the characters (sort of Jesse, though it's not the first time she's picked up her mom's clothes, but moreso Max and Bart).

Overall, a fun read for those of us who grew up on Flash in the '90s.

This was a decent Flash Family centric story. Flash ( Wally), Flash (Barry Allen), OG Flash Jay, Irey west and Jesse Quick all get moments to shine. Impulse (bart) and kid flash (Wallace) also have a fun dynamic in this.
This story does a good job of presenting the themes of family and team work. If you're a fan of a well developed Wally west and the Flash fam then check this out.

A busy mess. An alien invasion must be stopped by the Flash FAMILY. Oh my god how many of these speedsters are out there in the DCU? the plot is serviceable at best. you have your generic time travel trope coupled with the power of FAMILY to defeat the faceless monsters/alians. anyway, you can defiantly skip this one.

This was alright. It's about an alien civilization that can move at superspeed and takes over the Earth before anyone even knows it's happening. Only the speedsters can move fast enough to keep up. This is becoming less of a Flash book and more of a DC's speedsters book. I'd like to see the stories stick to just Wally and his family. That's an entire cast right there.

Roger Cruz takes over as the main artist and the book doesn't look very good. The other artists besides Fernando Pasarin that fill in are even worse.

Fun quick read, don’t read much Flash but this was enjoyable.

Seems like there are too many speedsters, but when the story is all about them it doesn’t matter as much.

Oof, this was a stinker. The stakes have never been lower as bland aliens invade in an overly long story with artwork that is not ready for prime time.
