Pain. Fury. Two things Ainsley has found after the events that have led to her greatest loss yet. But with war looming and the charge of regicide hanging over her head, will she be able to push aside her grief and move forward or will her darkness win once again?
Dashiell had everything he could have ever wanted, just to lose it all in the blink of an eye. With a kingdom now under his command and new power in his grasp, will he forge ahead or seek revenge against the woman he loved for taking away everything that had ever mattered to him?
3.75 ⭐️ | I don't know why this third installment didn't hit for me the same way the other two books did but I found it disappointedly lacking. While it did stay true to it's roots with me finding the beginning impactful, the middle DRAGGING, and like a good SJM book that this series tends to imitate, the last 20% actually was action packed.
But Ainsley annoyed the shit out of me from start to finish with her immature deposition, anger issues, and entitled actions. I really don't know how Van, and quite literally everyone else, puts up with her. Girl had some cringy moments and wanted to be treated as a queen when she really wasn't willing to do the work in my opinion let alone giving it more than 5 minutes of her being in the position to begin with before demanding such a thing.
Of course I squealed when it was revealed Felix was alive and I love the way that Ainsley + Dash worked through their issues to become close once again. I found the concept of Innuto interesting, was glad one of my questions from book two was answered with who the bear was, but was disappointed that no one seems to realize that Ains and Dash have a Solum Bond. There can be no other explantation for this.
I did find it interesting that Oberon seems to be obsessed with Van but not Ainsley considering that she is more powerful than him and she really hasn't done a good job of keeping anything a secret regarding her powers and thought this was an odd way to turn the tide but I am interested to see how this wraps up with book 4.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
With each new installment to the Power and Promise series there is more growth to the world of Disparya, the characters, and even the author. There is something magical about reading the progression of an author's skill from their debut novel.
The third book really concentrates more on the lore of the land. Ainsley and the reader learn so much more about powers, the gods that created the land, and a glimpse at Ainsley's family. I have a feeling this book is setting up not only the fourth book but also for future spinoffs. There does seem to be more fighting, action, and power usage.
There are a good many plot twists. I honestly didn't know what to expect after what happened in Shade. Let's just say what happens was what I least expected. The author does a great job of keeping the reader on their toes. There are some surprises near the end of the book. I will say, the ending was a little predictable. But that doesn't make it any less heart-wrenching. But it is vey much a cliffhanger.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! I can't wait till the next book comes out!
I like “most” of the characters in this series, and occasionally like Ainsley. She’s ridiculously immature and annoying, selfish, and self involved 98% of the series. However, I’m most irritated and frustrated by the fact that this book ends in a huge cliffhanger and I was really forcing myself to just get to the end to figure out the purpose of this series. Not sure I can read another 800+ page book that BARELY move the story forward!
First up, thank you so much to Jordan Day for letting me be one of the lucky people to get early access to this book for an ARC review because this book cured my depression. thank you.
Secondly, holy shit this book was a roller coaster
When I saw that this book was going to be more of a plot-based book rather than a romantic and character book (if that makes sense), I was worried I was going to be bored but that was most definitely not the case
My opinion on Dash and Ainsley:
okay for the plot itself: I loved everything that happened and I feel like there weren't any slow parts of this book. do not let the page count intimidate you because I promise it won't feel as long as it is. Ainsley being on trial tho omg like that was so scary and I was so worried about what was gonna happen. THENNNNN there were reunions and what not but the part I loved the most was the last 80% of the book when they go look for a certain thing (trying not to spoil it but...).
The characters never fail to make me love this series too. like i LOVE ALL OF THEM. well Ainsley has that main character-ness to her where nobody thinks she can do wrong and everyone loves her, but aside from that I LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS
especially
anyways I unfortunately don't have enough words to describe how amazing this book is so please read it if ur thinking about it i promise it will be worth it
Once again, Jordan A. Day has proven her writing prowess with this incredible book. From start to finish, it captivated me and kept me on the edge of my seat. I simply couldn't tear myself away, from the emotional rollercoaster. Absolutely recommend
I really enjoyed the multi POV structure in this book and it made so much sense for the way the story went and I felt it really helped with the pacing of the book. It’s a chunky one but it never felt like it dragged at all.
I just sobbed my heart out to one of the most heart wrenching chapters EVER (90) My god do I love Ainsley and Evander’s relationship so much. How he can be so so open and tender with her in their moments together 🥺 BUT HIS SACRIFICE AT THE END!!
Dash has absolutely redeemed himself in Whisper. Watching him take on his new role as king and learn to deal with the mess in his kingdom but also work through his emotions. He became the friend that Ainsley really needed and I was so happy to go on this journey with them starting over as friends and being eachothers rocks for when times got tough AF
Thank u Jordan for not killing our boy Felix! That was a totally unexpected and a much appreciated surprise to have him back 🫶🏼
I will be thinking about this book and these characters until I have book 4 in my hands 🥹🤍

The first 40% of the book was 🔥🔥🔥 The rest? I got a little bored. I loved that we got more perspectives. Getting to read from Dash’s pov made me love him and respect him a lot more. Ainsley on the other hand- she was killing me. I know it’s part of her character but the girl acts like a teenager blowing up at every little thing and not at all like a queen. I’m sorry but it was very annoying and I’m having a hard time really rooting for her because she makes so many choices I don’t think she should have. After her amazing personal growth from book one to two I found it to be lacking in this one.
But will I still excitedly wait to read the next book? HELLS YES i gotta find out what happens
Ripple was a tantalizing prelude to the events of this series. Shade a blended melody of showcasing how Evander built Ainsley back up and Ainsley coming in to her own. The title for Chaos is accurate, although—! There was no whisper of it.
In a Whisper of Chaos and Crowns, Author Day turns the volume up to eleven, and we’re gifted with a crescendo of intense feelings, suspenseful situations, and I-want-to-throw-this-book-at-the-wall moments. Those moments are plenty and have me wanting to hurl bricks…in the best way possible. With this new installment of the Promise and Power series, Author kicks us right in the emotional gut and does not let up until the very last line.
The romance. Good gods. I do not love another book-couple as much as I love Ainsley and Evander. They have something so special, so out-of-the-typical-romance box, that I laugh with them, cry with them, and cry with them some more. Soft at the right times, sad at the right times, spicy at the right times. I cannot get enough of these two.
Evander is still charmingly hilarious and the greatest thing ever (go ahead and tell him that; he already knows.) His antics and the way he riles up Ainsley never stop me from laughing. How he always challenges her to succeed and only ever wants her to feel the way she deserves to feel warms me. He has so many facets to him that we’ve yet to explore and I’m so fascinated and intrigued to dive into that gorgeous, arrogant head of his. I DESPERATELY need his point of view in the next installment.
This has always been a character-driven series and continues to be. We aren’t hurried along from scene to scene just to continue the plot as quickly as possible. Jordan lingers on the right moments and lays them out in a way that marries our emotions to those in the story. Have you ever read a book or watched a movie and, when some big, life-altering moment happens, you find yourself thinking, “Meh. I didn’t care about that person anyway.” That’s likely because the author didn’t afford the right amount of bonding time between reader and book. This happens a lot with me. I will tell you this: I give a whole-lot-of-dayums about the characters in Whisper because she bothers to give me the time to emotionally invest in them.
The dialogue. I love how much Jordan shows us through her characters’ word choices. The lines themselves are so clever and always tie into her main themes and bring those things full-circle, such as selflessness (“Losing you was never an option,”) to unyielding devotion (“Where are you going?” … “To tear the world apart.”)
Conflict and suspense arise naturally, exactly when you don’t want them to. Whenever we are comfortable enough with the story’s events to take a breath, Jordan steals the inhaler. Conflicts begin small, micro. We hear about raids and cut-off trade routes. As the story unfolds, the conflicts become more intense, and they build up and build up to some poignant moments…It’s infuriating and wonderful and heartbreaking.
A lot of logical steps are made by the author regarding character progression. Ainsley assumes the leadership role she was so afraid of taking but was born to assume; Dash finds his own identity vs. assuming the roles others saw fit for him, and Evander, well—his arch was always leading him to make the very big decision he makes and I love him all the more for it. If I haven’t mentioned that he’s by far one of my favorite characters I’ve ever read, allow me to reiterate that.
Oberon? I know I’m supposed to hate him—and I do…Jordan did a very good job of making me hate him—but he did make me laugh so loud and hard before the hate set in.
This book is funny (so, so funny,) relatable, intriguing, emotionally satisfying, thrilling book I’ve read in a while and fits right in with Jordan’s unique voice and knack for narrative. With the Promise & Power series, I love the song Author Jordan A. Day is playing. I can only assume the next installment will be a double crescendo of even more perfect writing.
Also. THE TALKING BEAR IS BACK. I laughed so hard I nearly spit Dr. Pepper on my screen. Did he bring his fish friend with the hat? You’ll have to read the book to find out!
Cheers, Author Day. Thanks for another amazingly good read.
"It's okay...I still love you, even if your taste in bread is complete shit."
A Whisper of Chaos and Crowns is the third novel in the New Adult Fantasy Romance series, Power and Promise. Following immediately after the gut-wrenching twist of book 2, Ainsley is left shattered and struggle to find herself...except she has no time for her grief with a charge of regicide levied against her and a looming war with kings she cannot trust. Ainsley must embrace the Queen she must be to protect her people and those she loves or let darkness consume her.
Meanwhile Dashiell has lost everything and is struggling to cope. Add in the newfound kinship and the powers that come with it, he must decide will he seek vengeance against the women he loved or will he find a way to stop the ensuring darkness threatening all he loves?
To think of where Ainsley and Dashiell started and to see them now just tears into my heart.
Ainsley continues to be a brash but powerful character. Admittedly, she was a bit repetitive in the beginning in a way that harkens back to the beginning of book 2 but she quickly navigates a way forward that felt right. I loved seeing her gain more confidence and to stand on her own.
Van is a male I still adore and nothing will change that. He has some vulnerability we got explore here that endeared me further. He is the anchor for Ainsley in many ways and I appreciated how he never took away from her main character role...though he does try to pull a few things on her.
There are additional POVS that I would love to talk more about...and others I want to keep secret. All I will say is Dashiell's POV really help us dive further into him and I actually liked him more.
This book has about a 2 spicy pepper out of 5 spicy pepper vibe. The characters are in an already established relationship we get some spice early on but there are long gaps between spice because this book is more focused on the plot progression - the push to the final book I would say. That said we still have intimate moments of the characters that cemented the romance and love that I would not get enough of.
"When I Claimed you...I Claimed every part of you. Not just you at your best - at your happiest - but every aspect of who you are. I want your worst, your angriest, your most broken self. All of it..."
The story of this book is very much setting the ground for the upcoming battle. There is a lot of political intrigue, alliances developing, and searching for the edge against the enemy. I felt there was a balance of these larger looming issues and the ones closer to home with friends, enemies, and family. This meant I got to enjoy time with out characters amidst the chaos. Now, I will say the 50-60% mark did slow down a bit and I wasn't sure what the next steps was meant to be but, boy, when it picks up you are hit with some big twists and new lore to explore. The story caps with another cliffhanger that rips into you...and leaves you demanding more.
Overall, another excellent instalment into the series!
Starting off with this review is why did you have to break my heart. There may be some small spoilers included in this review. I devoured this book in 48 hours. Spent most of my free time reading this book after rereading Jordan’s first two books. After the heartbreak at the end of book 2 I was excited to see where Whisper was going to take us….and boy did it take me.
Watching Ainsley having to go through that heartbreak at the start of this book tore my heart out after rereading the end of book 2. Some of those feelings that she was experiencing striking myself as someone whose experienced loss. Ainsley goes through some pretty shocking but amazing experiences through this book with Evander by her side. Speaking of Evander one of my absolute favorite things about this book is how vulnerable he is with her. Something about a man who can express his feelings and break down just draws me to them.
There are so many twists in this book that had my jaw dropping. Some scenes that had me tearing up from start to finish. Some scenes where I had to stop rewind and reread just to make sure Jordan wasn’t playing with me. Having to live through the emotional rollercoaster this book gave me and ending this book on yet another cliffhanger making me want to beg her for more. This book was honestly one of my top reads this year so far and I can’t wait to see what Jordan’s next book in this series takes us. I would rip the world apart to get the chance to read this book for the first time again and experience things through the eyes of these main characters.

First, let me start off by saying I was THOROUGHLY impressed with Jordan's writing in this book. Not only has the story developed since I Beta read Book 1, but her writing has matured along with it.
Secondly, this book made me cry. Coming from me, that's a big deal. Books rarely make me cry unless they are truly devastating or incredibly powerful. Jordan wrote the most beautiful, powerful, and devastating love scene I've ever read. My heart broke along with Ainsley & Evander during that chapter.
Early in the story we discover our beloved Felix is indeed not dead. This did not surprise me. Maybe I've been desenitived after watching Game of Thrones and reading many fantasy series, but I was not shocked by this reveal. Nor did I truly believe that was the last we would see of Felix from Book 2. I knew how much Jordan's loves Felix and writing his character.
I was also not surprised by the book's cliffhanger ending. I anticipated Evander surrendering himself and leaving to protect Ainsley and his family. Did I like it, hell no...but I wasn't surprised. Now we get to rip the world with Ainsley in Book 4. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO!
I've been a Dash fan since book 1 and this book made me love him that much more. Wait, hear me out (I'm 10000% team Evander/Ainsley), I know many people haven't liked Dash since Book 1, but it's hard to imagine people hating him after reading Whisper. We finally get to hear his side of the story and learn about his Father's manipulation Obscure power. To me, he is the most understanding, patient and, supportive ex-boyfriend I've ever seen, I mean, read. Dash deserves love, too! I hope we see that in the next book.
Thank you Jordan Ashley for the honor of reading an ARC for Whisper.

The Ripple is my Roman Empire. All of these characters, the world, and the magic they live rent-free in my head, and honestly, I never want them to leave. This book starts out with another amazing recap and a prologue I didn't even know I needed, but damn, did it make me cry. I seriously cried multiple times in the first 20% of the book because of how well-written these characters are.
Book three is a slight switch to what we have come to expect from Jordan because it becomes multiple POVs but in the best way. It is well-balanced and does not add nonsense we don't need, but it allows us to see the story in 360 rather than 180. The plot development continues to be absolutely outstanding, and I am devastated to know there is only one book left. Not because the story can't be resolved in one book but because I will never have enough time with these characters.
The continued character development and emotions that you feel from each character are amazing. Jordan has a way of writing characters that I feel like I have known them for years, not just spent a few days reading. I can't wait to see how she will end this series and what else she has planned for us. Jordan will always be an Instagram buy. I don't need details; just take my money.
This book starts weeks after book two ends. Ainsley is dealing with the aftermath of her decisions in Caelum that ended up killing her best friend and putting her kingdom on the verge of war. She quickly learns that facing the guilt and taking accountability for her actions is extremely difficult and humbling. Ainsley ends up making amends enough to form a tentative alliance and avoid execution, but that may not be enough to save everything and everyone she cares for from the threat of Oberon. To have any hope, she must journey to find the mythical land of Inmuto before Oberon attacks. Will she find Inmuto in time? Will it be enough to help the war effort? Who will live and who will die in the oncoming war?
Be ready for an emotional rollercoaster with amazing banter from start to finish. Along with the introduction of a humorous evil villain you are going to hate yet love at the same time (sorry, the banter is THAT good).
5/⭐️ 1/🌶️
I received this as an ARC, and this is my honest review.

The rollercoaster of emotions this book put me through was a 10/10.
We get a lot of mental health representation that really matters, from both the female and male perspective which I really appreciated. Anxiety and depression are real beasts, and shouldn’t be discounted.
The battle scenes were amazing, the mystery of the book was fantastic, and the lore build up we got is some of the best I’ve read. The author has got every major plot point I need for a perfect fantasy series so far. Onyx and Nova still rank at the top of the list for my favorite fantasy creatures.
My favorite part is that this book is multiple POV and really makes you understand and love each character fully. They are all complicated, Dash potentially being the most complex of them all. You really get to understand Ainsley a lot more and the struggle her life has been. With Evander, you see how delicate he can be. We also get another POV or two, but that’s for you to read and figure out.
We do end on quite the cliffhanger, but compared to the second book in the series, this one gets you even more excited for the epic conclusion coming in the next.
It is a couple months after the events at the end of Shade and we see how everyone is dealing/not dealing with all that took place. Right from the beginning you are pulled in and thrown into so many reveals. My jaw was on the floor and I think I was crying by chapter 4.
We get multiple POVs, lots of new places, new lore, and some new creatures. The pacing was balanced so well and although Whisper was more plot based, there were still sweet moments, funny banter, and a few swoon-worthy, toe curling scenes. Some of my favourite scenes that had me tearing up were between Dash and Evander. There was pain, love and so much growth, especially with Ainsley. She is coming into her own and although there were times where her anger took over, there were others where she tried not to let it completely affect her reactions.
In true Jordan fashion, Whisper was chock full of pain. I honestly think it was worse than Shade and for the first time ever I shed tears during a scene I never thought would have been possible. I’m so excited to see the absolute vengeance that will be wrought in book 4 but I’m also extremely sad that it will be the end. I love these characters with my WHOLE CHEST and saying goodbye is likely going to break me while Jordan smiles and laughs manically like the fiend she is.
Speechless, absolutely speechless. This novel will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions but it was a rollercoaster I didn't want to end. I knew we were in for a rough twist at the end. I'm just going to lock my heart in a steel box next time lol.
All things said, this book is perfection. Yes. We still get to laugh with the characters. Fall in love with each of them more. Sit at the edge of our seat during the fights and action. Cry tears - happy, sad, or both? Read to find out. These characters have me in a chokehold. I'm still thinking out this book a week later and will continue to do so until I have book 4 in my hands. The growth between all the characters continues, the battles both internal and external continues, and of course the family/friendship will always continue.
This series is for the mood reader, the fantasy romance reader, the reader that wants to laugh but also get their heart ripped out, and the reader than needs to lose themselves in a different world.
Ms. Jordan you have done it again!! I was so excited when this finally came out and boy did it not disappoint! Just a few chapters in and the twists are already being dropped! I can't believe I mourned Felix just to experience full whiplash right off the bat. I'm so glad Ainsley and Dash were able to talk it out and I love that there were multiple instances of characters discussing their feelings with one another. One of my pet peeves in media is when problems are easily solved by actual communication, so it was a breath of fresh air to see everyone talking through things so well. And it was SO nice getting our Trio back, I've missed them dearly. Now those last 200-ish pages. Ooooh boy. The emotional whiplash is real. And don't even talk to me about the deaths. I'm still grieving. And the END? These cliffhangers will surely be the death of me. I'm anxious to see the end of this story, and can't wait to find out what Ms. Jordan has in store for us!

This was so good! It had my emotions all over the place and I was definitely crying more than once! And there were just so many instances of funny banter that I loved! Ainsley is really getting into her baddie era, she’s grown so much. I can’t wait to see what she’s like in the next book after that ending. I’m ready to see her unhinged.
Mild spoilers coming…
Any Plated Prisoner fans out there? I want to see her like Slade-in-the-beginning-of-Gold level unhinged. Go rip the world apart for your man, unleash that murderous rage! But I know she’s trying to better control her anger, so if she decides to go all calm, cool and collected, that’s fine too.
Also I love Dash and having his POV in this book. I loved him in Ripple before everything went down and I’m so happy he’s back. Now he just needs a new love interest (please Jordan? With all the details?)

This book was such a rollercoaster from start to finish. There wasn’t a single moment where I wasn’t completely enthralled. Much like the first two it’s character driven and there’s a lot of emphasis on relationships, platonic and romantic. And some of the new dynamics between characters that hadn’t interacted before were so thrilling to watch. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the multi-POV but I think the author weaves them together so well and is so intentional with everything. This book gives so many satisfying answers, while also leaving me with so many more questions. It’s the perfect balance between “I knew it!!” And “oh my god no fucking way!” I was rooting for characters and ships I didn’t expect to, while also thoroughly enjoying all my faves. I couldn’t be more excited for book 4.
It’s here it is finally here! I have been so so excited for this release. This one picks up right after the events of book 2. I am loving the multiple POV’s in this one.
Ainsley absolutely drove me nuts in this one. Like straight up crazy. I wanted to reach into the book and smack some sense into her. I love her so much but my heart hurt for her, so I did understand why she was being that way. But gahhh girl!! Evander was absolute perfection as always. The rest of the court, I love them all.
Overall this one just didn’t do it for me like the other two. This is a total me problem, I just couldn’t get all that into it. But, It’s still an amazingly written book. Overall 3⭐️ from me.
The guilt and turmoil we see at the beginning of the book pulls us in. But what does Jordan do to make us stay? She lets us see the heartache of losing a best friend. She lets us see the vulnerability of a man who is normal a hard ass. Jordan pulls us through each chapter ending it so we are reaching in for more. Jordan does a wonderful job with the multi POVs. A Whisper of Crowns and Chaos leads us through a whirlwind of emotions. Can we just talk about our sad boi Dash! Because I love him. We get to see the inside thinking of Dash and I love it. Through the pain, the trials and tribulations we see our family face, will the be able to overcome this new villain in her last book? Will Ainsley be able to control her chaos? Overall 5 stars. It was a great book. I can’t wait for the last one.
Book 3 in the Power and Promise was one of my most anticipated of this year, and it did not disappoint. The immense growth each and everyone one of these characters went through was astounding. They faced challenge after challenge, and still have not fully broken. The first few chapters brought a major twist that made me so freaking excited to keep reading! Ainsley’s determination to complete her quest as well as her foresight throughout the whole book really demonstrated her coming into her own. I loved getting multiple POVs as it really kept the story interesting, and kept me wanting more. I am so curious where book 4 will take us and what surprises (and heartbreak) Jordan A. Day has in store for us more forward
DNF@50%, we are many pages in and war is coming. The super powered beings, who are unfoundedly smug because in 2.5 books they have done little besides bicker and receive random upgrades that they have in no way earned, are holding a meeting. Meanwhile, the baddies are unaccountably not pushing their win. So, back to the meeting: the kings and queens go the the tavern and play at being spies, while our FMC condescendingly tells them how awesome she is and what they need to do to be awesome, too. Peppered amongst it all was more bickering, some appendage swinging and very little planning. I was secretly hoping that a lowly, magicless but canny human was formenting a rebellion and save us all from the tsunami of self-importance.
2/5 not that's it's bad just rated based on my enjoyment level
I hate Ainsley. Terrible FMC
Once again Ainsley is terrible
Terrible.
Felix is alive
🌶️/5 usual. No crazy smut
Ainsley fights with Evander a lot
Lots of bickering the whole book not much plot
Previous two are superior and I think there will be one more after this so I'm struggling to see myself reading it. Mainly because it's going to take the author forever to put it out by then I'm gonna forget all about the characters. And this book had no plot at all. It's just the same thing over and over again so repetitive. Even their love bond was boring because of the constant fighting.
Ainsley+immature=immature book
Think Ainsley almost died like four times in this book? Idk but boring
Started skim reading the very end
Ending ends with evander being taken and her saying she is going to rip the world apart to get him back
No notes
