This was in my to-be-reread pile. After a slew of romances, I was ready for something deeper.

I enjoyed this book. Someone wrote on their review that Rutledge Etheridge is one of science fiction's underappreciated space opera authors. They were right! I've not read any of his other books but this was satisfying. Epic battles, clever schemes, and plans-within-plans mark this book. People died for the cause of the greater good of mankind. Cowards. Tyrants. This book has it all. It even had a romance (or two!) which I hadn't expected.

I think I'm going to look for more books by Rutledge Etheridge. Meanwhile, this one will be staying in my library.

I adore everything I've ever read by Rutledge Etheridge. The tactics and strategy of space battles and hand-to-hand or mind-to-mind combat are all brilliant and thought-provoking. The scale is epic. The characters are flawed, beautiful, memorable. One of the most undersung authors of the space opera and military sci fi genres, according to me.
