I did not see that coming! Talk about whiplash! Nicole Trope wowed me, shocked me, left my mouth hanging open and had me turning the pages! Woohoo!!! His Double Life: A completely unputdownable domestic suspense novel is gripping, full of secrets, twists, and with jaw dropping reveals! I had a hard time putting this addictive book down when life got in the way. Well done, Nicole Trope, well done.

Leo has an image to uphold. He is a real estate agent who drives a flashy car which screams success! He is married to Diana, and they have twin boys. Everything about him looks picture perfect. Except that he has secrets. He is more committed to his phone than his wife, he comes home smelling of another woman's perfume and is quick to hand out flowers and toys after going to real estate conferences.

Then Diana receives a text message......

Talk about being kept on your toes throughout the entire book! I had no idea what was going to happen next. Just when I thought I had things figured out, Trope threw a curve ball at me. I enjoyed this twist filled book which kept the revelations coming.

I enjoyed the POV chapters. This was a nice touch and allowed readers to get into the minds of the various characters. Knowing their motivations and emotions furthered my enjoyment and investment in their plight. The characters in this book deal with many emotions and I thought Trope did a fantastic job with showing the characters as complex individuals.

I also enjoyed the pacing of this book. It was just right and kept things moving along. I found the plot to be well thought out and riveting. I can’t wait to read what Nicole Trope writes next!

Well written, addictive, shocking and hard to put down!

Book Title: His Double Life
Author: Nicole Trope
Publisher: Bookouture
Genre: Domestic Thriller
Pub Date: February 28, 2024
My Rating: 4.5 rounded up
Pages: 256

Leo is a Loving father - a Loyal husband and apparently also a Liar!
Diana and Leo have been married for fifteen years; they have ten year old twin boys - Rowan and Sawyer, They live near a park that the boys love.

Prologue starts with Rowan rushing home to announce winning a soccer match. Rowan wants to know if Dad will take him and his brother for donuts. However Sawyer isn’t home yet ~ Rowan announces ~ What is taking him so long? Rowan then starts to head back to the park to find him. Diana tells him to wait and she’ll go with him. Just as Diana is heading out the door her phone vibrates with a message.
– If you want Sawyer to come home, your husband needs to tell the truth.

Diana shows her message to Leo and he groans.
Diana says with tears in her eyes ~ “What have you done, Leo?”
Story starts with the timeline –Five weeks ago – POV Serena
Leo is a successful Real Estate Agent and meets Serena Burns who is in commercial real estate at a conference. They see each other at a bar and Leo offers to buy her a drink. She answers that they could drink at the bar or have drinks in her room. Needless to say Leo is weak and they go to her room.
Thus the story begins, continues to present day with Sawyer’s disappearance.
Story goes in a direction I didn’t expect.
This is my tenth Nicole Trope I am a fan! She does not disappoint.

I love reading “A Letter from Nicole” (I so love reading the author’s notes and getting the inside scoop)
She tells us that Diana emerged later in her edits. I believe most of us wanted to know more about how she was dealing with all of this. We know Leo is not a nice person.
As for how it ended ~ I believe Book Clubs are going to have a Great discussion on Leo!!!

Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for granted me this GREAT early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for February 28, 2024.

Setting: Sydney, NSW, Australia; modern day.

I have read a lot of books by this author and this one is right up there amongst the best I have read!

Diana is married to Leo and they have twin boys. Leo is a successful real estate agent but Diana knows that, when he goes away to his annual conference, he usually comes, back with flowers and presents - and smelling of another woman...
For Leo, meeting Serena at his latest conference is totally different from his previous 'conquests' - she seems to have a hidden strength which leads him to continue their affair on arriving back in Sydney...
For Serena, she is under a false identity and has targeted Leo for his past actions, which gradually become clear as the storyline is revealed...
One Sunday, when Diana's sons go out to play in the local park, only one boy returns. Then she receives a text message saying that, if she wants to see her son again, Leo needs to tell the truth....

This was another great tale from this author, with several totally unexpected twists and turns as the story developed. A thrilling rollercoaster of a ride - 9.5/10.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of His Double Life by Nicole Trope. This book was written in 3 parts. I found Part 1 to be good and I enjoyed the book. Part 2 really seemed to drag for me but luckily it picked up again for Part 3. It is a domestic suspense novel about secrets and the trouble they cause. This was not a thriller in my opinion. It wasn't bad just not my favourite.
4 Star rating rounded up for me.

Leo was so selfish. He didn’t care about no one but himself, not even his wife and kids. I enjoyed the plot and the twist just kept coming. Every time I thought I had everything figured out, here comes another twist.

I must say from the beginning that I do not think I have ever read one of this author’s books and not enjoyed them. His Double Life also fell into this category, and I was extremely happy to find this so, a fabulous read that I devoured. But I do have to say I did not think the cover did the book justice; I think this deserved a little bit more design creativity. It was only that this was another favorite author that I requested it.

Leo and Diana were married fifteen years ago and for many years the marriage was strong but lately Diana has the feeling that things are not quite like they used to be, and she has major suspicions about her husband. He is not attentive to her or their children, they have two twin boys, and she thinks something is just off, at least that is what her intuition is telling her, and we all know how quite often this would only lead to the truth. Secrets are hard to hide and believe me there are quite a few being held here.

Leo is a real estate agent who thinks he is god’s gift to the profession; in real life he was doing ok but recent times have made his boss lose faith in him, and he is jealous of other staff members that seem to be exceeding him in sales and in reputation.

This is really a cracker of a book; the pace is fast and the plot strong. Great characterization by the author even if you did not like some of the people we are presented with, they enhance the story so much and that is what keeps you captivated throughout. Some really good twists and turns and an ending which was excellent and very cleverly thought out by the author. A five star read for me.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

His Double Life by Nicole Trope is a good suspense thriller. The story is told from different points of view (Leo, Serena, Diana, etc.) and with varying timelines; the story flows well and is not confusing.

I could not put this book down. Just when you think you know what will happen, bam, a new twist is introduced. I found myself shouting, "What?!!" so many times when reading this book. My favorite character was Melanie, and Diana grew on me as time went on. Leo was a sleaze.

The writing was solid, crisp, and unraveled a good psychological thriller. I would recommend this book.

I took a deep breath before writing this post.

You see, Nicole Trope, is well, she's Nicole Trope, and I want to make sure I do her and His Double Life, justice.

Ive been a fan of Trope since the day her debut, The Boy Under the Table, fell into my lap. So, I would say our "book-ship" started around 2012 (that's a pretty long time for a girl with commitment issues). Along the way I stumbled across some favorites, The Day After the Party, The Mothers Fault, and The Family Across the Street. For the longest time, I swore The Day After the Party, could not be surpassed and would forever be a favorite.

That is, until, His Double Life, came along.

Holy hell Batman, what was that?!?!

Secrets, Lies, Deceit... oh my! Who doesn't look a domestic thriller? I know, personally, Im a fan and His Double Life, was right up my alley.

Cue the shock factor, you might think you have read a domestic thriller before but I promise you, this one packs such a punch, you'll be doubled over for a week.

Check out this teaser :

Loving father. Loyal husband. Liar?

In our large family home on a peaceful, tree-lined street, I clear away the breakfast things whilst my husband ignores me, his eyes on his phone. Leo comes home from conferences with flowers for me and hugs for our twin ten-year-old boys, but each time I smell an unfamiliar perfume on his shirt. I know all about his affairs and it’s tearing my heart in two.

When one of the boys tumbles into the kitchen, full of laughter that he beat his brother in the race home from the park, I smile despite everything. When his brother isn’t right behind him, I start to worry… and then I get a text that makes my blood run cold. If you want your child to come home, your husband needs to tell the truth.

Is my husband hiding even darker secrets than his affairs? As I realise his double life has put my children in terrible danger, I make a promise: I will not let my husband’s lies destroy my life. And I will do anything to get my son back…

Bravo!
This is a super domestic suspense read
Just how far can retribution go until its past fair, you can decide that as you read this fiery, punchy thriller that brings something new to this genre
Can you still say ‘unputdownable’? Well am saying it as it was, it really had me thinking and plotting in my mind what I would do in the same situation and thought the characters were so well done, so ‘human’ in response, actions and emotions
The author guarantees a good read but for me ( and as a fellow reader told me when I started this book ) this is her best one yet
Is that enough? It really was outstanding

You have something a lot of people can only dream of and still you cannot control yourself and you have to mess it up.You might think you are the winner because you take everything you had for granted and you keep on taking what you want to have without any regrets. But you have to be careful with whom you pick.

You just cannot keep on thinking life is one big party and you only take and never give. You cannot keep on thinking the way you want it is the only way because one day you might meet someone who can crush you like an insect.

Think before you act. Don't be the know-it-all, but eat some humble pie and show some respect. That's when you live your life to the fullest and you will surround yourself with people who will love you for that.

One day, when the last drop that makes the cup run over has fallen, you know you have been backed into a corner.

Someone is about to find out the true meaning of remorse comes always after the sin and they will have to deal with it for a long, long time.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I loved the twisty road the author made me take to the revelation of the plot. 5 stars

Thank you

His Double Life is built up of Three parts… told by the three main characters…

Diana – loving wife, and mother who has gut feelings her husband holds some red flags but chooses to ignore them.

Leo – the husband.

… and the other person who I will keep a secret to avoid spoilers! We will call them the sneaky one!

The book starts with 5 weeks ago, reading the lives of the Palmer family… which slowly whittles its way down to the Now.

This book was incredibly written, as all Tropes books are. I could feel the pain, and the unhappiness emanating from the pages when reading the chapters from Diana – wishing she was appreciated by her husband and not taken for granted.

While I instantly hated her husband, there may have been some personal feelings of hate in there with him being a dirty little love rat! But written with such charm and charisma it made me a little bit happy to find how the suffering he had caused had been turned onto him.

Nicole Trope has been one of my must read authors for quite a while and her latest book His double life definitely didn’t disappoint – this book was compelling from the start, and I found it hard to put down.

This one was a wild ride! Had a hard time putting it down because I couldn’t wait to see what was happening next!

Diana and Leo are a married couple with twin boys. All seemed to be well, until it wasn’t. Diana was going to find out what was going on, and oh boy did she ever!

Do you know all the things about your significant others past? Are they keeping secrets from you?

Revenge is the theme and I'm here for it! His Double Life is broken into 3 parts from multiple POVs. I have to say, I really enjoyed part 2 and 3 the most. It had some good twists that surprised me. I enjoy Nicole's style of writing so much. Like this felt like a behind the scenes crime unfolding. She is a one click author for me! I can't wait for her next book.

It was refreshing to read this after DNF’ing my last book. This was a faced-paced read, and I both started and finished it this evening.

Leo checked out of his marriage a while ago, and it shows in the way he ignores his wife and twin boys. As we get to know him, we soon realize that he is hiding many secrets. Someone won’t let him get away with his past actions, and, unfortunately, his innocent family may be in danger, too.

What would you do for your family? What lengths would you go to in order to right a wrong?

Look for this at the end of February!

Diana has been married to Leo for over 15 years. In the beginning she felt he was the perfect husband. Attentive. A good provider. They got pregnant with twins and it was too much to handle for his. He wasn’t the most attentive father and would slip away. As the boys grew into 10 year olds Leo seemed too busy building a career in real estate to notice. Diana asks herself is this normal? Leo has to attend conferences for his real estate career and Diana suspects he might have a fling at these conferences. He comes back renewed and happy. He buys himself an expensive car and might be having an affair. Is this a mid life crisis? Diana is contemplating divorce and isn’t sure if she should break up her family. Then Serena the women that Leo has been sleeping with contacts Diana and it turns out Leo has a lot of secrets he’s been hiding over the years…..

I couldn’t put this down. I thought that Diana was a relatable character. She didn’t know what sort of monster she was married to. She was focused on trying to create a happy family for her children. I think moms are really going to enjoy this juicy read.

Psychological thriller whiz Nicole Trope delivers a thrilling, favourable and engaging story.
His Double Life is another hit read from the bestselling Aussie author.
Leo is a father, husband and a liar.
His wife Diana and twin sons make for the perfect life.
But Diana knows he is not telling her the truth.
One day when one of her sons goes missing, it’s the last straw.
Now it’s time for Diana to take matters into her own hands.
I continue to love Nicole’s dark, twisty tales.
The plot and the cast highlighting that the author knows her audience.
As the story unfolds we hear from three main points of view, wooing the reader until the final reveals.
Fast paced, highly entertaining, tension loaded and jammed with drama.

This book my Nicole Trope was definitely different than what I had in mind when I went into it. I would describe it as more of a domestic suspense thriller.
We are quickly introduced to the married couple Diane and Leo, as well as their twin boys. They seem like the “typical” working family, but all completely crumbles when one of their twin boys comes home without the other and Diane is sent a mysterious text about her missing son and her husband. This quickly shatters everything Diane thought she knew about her husband and their past and future. Needless to say Leo is not the idyllic husband, family man, or professional he presents himself to be. In fact Leo quickly becomes an extremely unlikable dirtbag …. And it keeps getting deeper. The chapters alternate between Diane, Leo, other characters along the way, and different timeframes.
This book did have some definite twists and turns. Some of them were a bit predictable, but some were shocking! I enjoyed the pace of this book and how the story unraveled. I was not a big fan of the ending and epilogue because I found it to be unrealistic and far fetched. I would give this a read as it is different than a lot of thrillers I have read lately!

Another great story from Nicole Trope! This book is focused around Leo, who is struggling with the mundane-ness of his life as a middle aged father whose career didn't quite take off as anticipated, meanwhile his lies are closing in on him. There is heartbreak, revenge, lies, grief - we're feeling all of it in this book!

The story is told from multiple POVs which helps add so much dimension for the readers. The thing I loved most about how this story is told was that each chapter was a countdown to the *main event*. Chapter one starts as 'five weeks ago' and from then on its a countdown to the action we are teased with in the prologue, which makes it so easy to just smash out chapter after chapter.
Just when I thought I had figured out how this story was going to end, Nicole threw in a twist and everything changed again.
Without giving anything away, there was one character that I was left feeling sad for. After learning about them and feeling attached to them throughout the story, I felt they didn't get the ending that they deserved.

I don't usually read books that are set in my own home state in Australia so that was a nice change of pace!

Thank you Nicole, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a decent book. It was a bit slow and the ending was a little uneventful, but it was an easy read. It was enjoyable and there was a little twist but nothing mind blowing. The character development wasn’t great, but I did appreciate that there were connections between all of them. If you’re a fan of B.A. Paris or Shari Lapena, you might enjoy this.

A decent thriller- quick read. This guy (the husband) was a total asshole through and through. Truly a love to hate relationship with the reader! I felt the wife was too weak. But once the twist in the story came up it just kind of went off the rails for me. 3 stars because of the ending.

Loving father...loyal husband...liar...

The queen of domestic suspense is back with this tale packed full of secrets, lies and deception by the bucketload. I finished this book last night in one sitting, devouring it in a few short hours. I had to think about it before beginning this review. Because so much is packed into this quick read and yet nothing is left to chance.

Leo Palmer thinks he's God's gift to his profession, not to mention women, and it is at a conference in Queensland that he meets the stunning Serena. As soon as he sees her, he wants her. Forget the conference and his boring colleagues. He'd much rather be wrapped in the silky sheets with Serena. Once a year, he attends conferences around the country and each time partakes in a one night stand. But this year he breaks his own rule. He brings what is usually a fling home to his doorstep and continues to see Serena upon his return to Sydney. There's something about her. He just can't give her up.

Diana has been married to Leo for nearly 15 years and they have ten year old twin boys, Rowan and Sawyer. She is a mother and child nurse while he is a real estate agent. They have a beautiful house in the suburbs with a park just a block away so that the boys can race each other to the park and back to kick their soccer ball around.

It was one such Sunday morning when Rowan runs into the house after playing at the park announcing "I win!", expecting his brother to be close on his heels. But when he doesn't materialise, Diana feels a prick of fear. Just as she and Rowan are about to return to the park to find him, she receives a text message:

"If you want Sawyer to come home, your husband needs to tell the truth."

Diana is frozen staring at the screen. What does this mean? What has Leo done?

The questions are flying fast and free as the reader mulls over every possibility but are any of them close to the truth? The story unravels through the multiple narratives of Diana, Leo and Serena and is told in three parts. As each part unfolds it soon becomes clear what is going on. But still, Trope has another twist to deliver before the end. And even I didn't see it coming, so well played.

The characters are few but then that is all you need to make a compelling story. I did wonder at Diana's choices especially as she was well aware of Leo's indiscretions. He was obviously not going to change so why punish them all by sticking around? I understand it's for the boys but really resentments will colour any good intentions she may have had and the boys will be on the receiving end. And as for Leo. Well, he was the epitome of the narcissistic egotistical self indulgent man child who is so completely unlikeable I couldn't not care less what happened to him. I think when all is said and done he got off bloody lightly. He was an appalling character. But then I didn't really warm to Diana either. I think I found more sympathy for Serena.

The cover wasn't as eye-catching as previous titles but then I don't always judge a book by its cover either. However, if I was to do so I wouldn't have picked up this book solely on its cover. But the tightly written plot is well written and compelling from start to finish. It wasn't my favourite by Trope by any means, but it was still a cracker of a read with some good twists throughout.

I first discovered fellow Sydneysider Nicole Trope when I read "The Boy in the Photo" and I loved it! Since then I have read everything she has published with the exception of a couple that came before that one. I can't wait to see what she delivers for us next!

I would like to thank #NicoleTrope, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #HisDoubleLife in exchange for an honest review.

My Review:
Wow!!!!! Loved!!!!! Speechless!!!!! Great!!!!!These are just a few out of many words that I would use to describe this awesome book. This author is my favorite and is on my Top Ten Author List. Now lets talk about this one for a minute. This read had me hooked from the blurb alone. I knew I had to read it when I saw there was a missing child along with a liar of a husband. Those are my favorite books to read and to have them both in the same book was like opening presents on Christmas morning. It was pure joy and happiness. Next up is characters. I felt every emotion they felt and got myself wrapped up in all of their lives. Some of it was good but some of it was bad too. Not every character in this one had good intentions. In fact, I hated one character and thought this person was despicable. This person deserved everything they had coming to them and much more. Last but not least my favorite part of every book, the ending. What a shocking one it was. I was left saying OMG. I don’t know if I would have ever been able to agree to what one of the characters agreed to do for that long of a time. It takes such a strong and motivated person to do such a thing. I just love this author so much and can’t wait for her next book.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve read and really enjoyed other Nicole Trope books and this one didn’t disappoint. It was full of surprises and each time I thought I had guessed what happens next I was totally wrong and there was another twist to the tale.

Leo Palmer is an estate agent in Sydney in one of the top estate agents, he drives a Porsche and seems to have everything he wants. He is married to Diana and has twin sons but he cheats on his wife while he is away at conferences. He seems to have no remorse about it or about persuading people to sell their house and agree to his terms.

Diana works hard as a medical professional and mum to two boys. One day she receives an anonymous text message and her whole world as she knows it begins to unravel.

I liked the way the book was split into chapters for each person involved and although it covered different timelines it was very clearly detailed and easy to follow. I really enjoyed this book.

Thank you the NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.
