Very interesting as I know little about Blackbeard. Not a fan of the narrator though as each sentence ends with the same intonation.

I'm not sure how these History Nerds histories are written, whether as podcasts that are edited together, or what exactly. They work out to be informative, but surprisingly repetitive. I'm grateful for the introduction to the figure of Blackbeard, a character of whom I have often heard but ultimately knew little.

Somehow they’ve made Blackbeard boring. 99% tell 1% show. A conglomerate of conclusions.

It was great to get a better picture of the person behind the legend of Blackbeard the Pirate. This was more than the typical "he was a pirate and he did bad things" tale. More context to the actual man. The knowledge that regardless of his notoriety, he was still just a man after all. Very much appreciated.

This is a retelling of the myth of Black Beard the pirate with more of a focus on the real man, Edward Teach. It was okay. The narrator is the same one I've listened to before, who is, at times, a bit over dramatic.

I listened to the audio book for this title which came across more like an advertisement for an upcoming movie or important sporting event. Granted, there were some interesting facts sprinkled among the hype, but overall it felt like too much of the book was taken up with telling me what it was going to be telling me rather than just getting on with it.
