The Generation Games. The population crisis is out of control. Earth’s resources are close to depletion. It’s about to get savage.

My Name Is Brian. Brian's an odd one, always with his head in the books or packet of chips. He doesn't mix well with the other kids but doesn't seem to care. Or is he just a ticking time bomb ready to explode? Coming of age horror on steroids.

The Naughty Corner
A new start in a gorgeous location. The house of their dreams. But behind the gates of this well-do-do community, our family is about to uncover rules and secrets that will turn their lives upside down. And trust me, you don't want to be in the naughty corner.

Mark Towse is an English horror writer living in Australia. He would sell his soul to the devil or anyone buying if it meant he could write full-time. Alas, he left it very late to begin this journey, penning his first story since primary school at the ripe old age of forty-five. Since then, he's been published in over two hundred journals and anthologies, had his work made into full theatrical productions for shows such as The No Sleep Podcast and Tales to Terrify, and has penned fourteen novellas, including Nana, Gone to the Dogs, 3:33, and Crows. He also has two very well-received story collections, 'There's Something Wrong with Aunty Beth,' and 'You Only Live Once.' Chasing The Dragon is his debut novel.

'Mark Towse is an exciting new discovery. His stories are hidden gems that glint in the darkness. His characters draw you into their worlds, making you care, then plunge you into the abyss, leaving only a memory of warmth. These tales will linger in your mind long after the telling. His are heart-felt stories with an icy edge. Highly recommended.'

It’s not very often that I enjoy every story in a collected work— but let me tell you, The Naughty Corner by Mark Towse was an excellent mixed bag of three very different horror novellas.

The Generation Games
Imagine a near distant future in which people reaching their seventieth year are selected to be put to the most brutal test in order to continue the rest of their lives.

This is the new population control.

Broadcasted weekly on live television, The Generation Games seeks to have the elderly fight for their lives through a vicious set of ‘challenges.’ Challenges that will lead to a horrific demise if they lose, yet the desperation to earn a passport and survive the latter years is enough to get many to play. A geriatric version of The Hunger Games or Squid Game is a solid description of this story.

My Name is Brian
Narrator Tom Harper recounts the tale of how he met Brian, and how Brian was more than he ever seemed.

Brian was the new kid— larger than most, unattractive, and weird. He would ultimately become the new target of school bullies, Richard and Shane. Eventually, Brian unleashes a vengeance in a way you’d never expect on his childhood aggressors.

He told you his name was Brian— and he just wanted you to leave him alone.

The Naughty Corner
There’s a gated neighborhood, and within the community there’s a street called Melody Drive. The houses are immaculate, the lawns freshly mowed, and there isn’t a piece of trash in sight. And when you move in, you’re gifted with tea, pie, and licorice— delivered by your oddly pristine new neighbors. They already know your name. They already know what you like. Weird.

A family of three moves into a seemingly perfect home, but Melody Drive is more than meets the eye. Something sinister lurks behind the stretched smiles and beautiful faces of those in the community.

You think you’ve already read a story or two like it before, but I promise you haven’t read any creepy ‘neighbor horror’ with twists like this before. The Naughty Corner was my favorite of the three novellas— I was thoroughly entertained with all of the neighborhood’s secrets and its explosive revelation.

————————————

Every story was filled with excellent writing, detailed characters, and truly unique plot lines. There are so many versions of horror, and Towse delivers on three separate sub-genres, giving us a taste of his versatility. If you’re not often into collected works like myself, The Naughty Corner may give you higher hopes. Another well-deserved ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ star read to the works of Mark Towse!

Thanks to the author for providing me with a free ebook!

I went into this not knowing what to expect honestly lol
I was very pleasantly surprised by this 3 set novella!
We follow 3 stories - The Generation Games, My Name is Brian, & The Naughty Corner.

The Generation Games was an intense read set in a future where the world struggles with overpopulation. Due to this, the older individuals are sacrificed at the age of 70. Very few have the opportunity to redeem themselves, & to get a ‘passport’ to live life to their fullest. But what’s the catch? You need to enter the Generation Games- an online reality tv show where you will be challenged mentally & physically. Only the fittest survive!

This one was a slow burn, but done incredibly well! The story starts off introducing a handful of elderly couples. You get a peek into seeing everybody’s strengths, & weaknesses behind the scenes. As the ‘cast’ all sorts of characters come out to play - some nicer than others! They will be tested to their limits, & used for entertainment to online viewers! Also, zombies zombies zombies! That segment had me on the edge of my seat! Really loved this one! This story had me so invested where I was rooting for several people throughout the competition!

My Name is Brian is about a peculiar boy that kids don’t seem to understand in school. So strange, that nobody bothers the kid - Well, except some bullies… The bullies try everything in the book to bother this boy, but everything they do doesn’t work. What will it take for Brian to react? They discover much more than what they bargained for!

This was such a fun, breath of fresh air story! Honestly wasn’t expecting this outcome, & the comical moments thrown in the mix were perfect! Would’ve loved if this one had been a little longer!

The Naughty Corner takes place in a gated community, where a new family decides to move in! They come to find its inhabitants are a tad out of the ordinary. Not only that, but the family is introduced to a list of requests aka rules. Failure to follow these rules will put you in the ‘Naughty Corner’. But what does that even mean? It won’t be long until they find out!

The world building on this one was so eerie, and I was shocked to find out what the Naughty Corner actually consisted of! (No worries no major spoilers here)
Another really cool story!

As a whole, I loved these stories very much!
I loved them so much, I ended up purchasing a physical copy to support the author! ❤️ The author’s storytelling ability in these was phenomenal, & refreshing! Unique concepts with brutality & grit, followed with compassion & hope. I wasn’t expecting to be in my emotions after reading some of these! I’ll definitely be checking out more of this authors work! Would recommend to Horror Lovers!

Stunning collection of three novellas by the very talented Mark Towse.

The Generation Games has vibes of Squid Games meets Saw, but with a poignancy similar to King’s The Long Walk. When you are expendable to society, reality TV may just be your last salvation!

My Name is Brian takes a unique spin on bullying and revenge! B.R.I.A.N. will ‘stick’ with you! This was a fast paced first person POV that leaves you wanting more; the premise is so well developed I would love to see it as just one story in a collection from that world. Please!!

The Naughty Corner takes you to suburbia; a gated community that puts Stepford to shame! The alternate perspectives were superb. Beware neighbours bearing Ginger Tea and Cherry Pie!

Cannot recommend strongly enough!

The Naughty Corner by Mark Towse is a novella collection that includes three stories! This was a fantastic collection and I absolutely loved The Generation Games. My Name is Brian is a story that I'd love to see on screen, I think it would be something that would adapt well on a show like Twilight Zone or similar. The Naughty Corner was just terrifying and unsettling for me.

These three novellas were so fun! I won't bore you with a summary as if you're reading this review you're already on the Goodreads page for the book, but the Generation Games was the definite front runner for me - it felt tense and sometimes sweet and gross and horrifying all at the same time. There were both characters I loved and characters I hated.. Mark could make a full length novel using this premise and I'd be guaranteed to read it. Also, "Shakespeare, Hemingway, and—who the hell is Mark Towse?" made me laugh out loud. IYKYK.

I also really liked My Name is Brian, just a fast paced story about bullying and the consequences of bullying the wrong person. I feel like I blinked and the story was over, once again I'd read a full length novel with this premise.

The Naughty Corner was my least favorite, but that's saying nothing about the author or his writing! This type of urban horror with the gated community and 'guidelines' is a little too stepford-esque for me and makes me *UNCOMFY*. The thought of having to listen to a homeowners associates makes my skin crawl.

Overall I really enjoyed these!

Three fabulous novellas from the very twisted mind of Mark Towse, just wonderful!

The Generation Game
In a world where the old are no longer valued the highest rated show is a game where the victor gets to have the life of luxury unavailable to most of the population. If you remember the film Logan’s Run, this is a twisted eviscerated version!

My Name is Brian
Tom’s testimony about his friends and events of 1986 when a new boy, Brian, joined their class. A lesson in being nice to the weird kid!

The Naughty Corner
The Harpers are moving up in the world, a new job and a beautiful home in a gated community. They just need to follow the rules of the street and all will be well! I’ve gone off cherry pie after this story 🤣

Excellent novella collection. “The Generation Games” was nearly perfect. I didn’t care for “My Name is Brian” that much but it was well written. “The Naughty Corner” was really excellent, I just wish it was a little longer and had a stronger ending. 4 stars!

A big thanks to the author for the e-ARC. So glad I got to read it.

The Generation Games is perhaps Towse’s darkest elderly horror yet. The decision has been made to no longer allow people to grow old and die on their own. In an all-too close future, a mandate has been made due to earth’s depleted resources, that no one can live over 70. That is, unless they are incredibly successful, rich, or influential. Since most people aren’t, one television station decided to capitalize on this, seeing the death of millions as an opportunity. Those selected for this program have the opportunity to win millions, and to afford the age passport they so desperately need. What do they have to do, you ask? When you remember that the outcome for them is death either way because of their age, you can get an idea of just how unhinged the things they’re forced into really are. Horrific, gruesome, bloody, gory, and unbelievably wicked.

My Name Is Brian is the second of the novellas collected and it features a new student that’s just a bit strange. Brian is heavyset, a book worm, and unerringly calm, even when the school bullies want a rise out of him. The problem with bullies, is that they are forced to up the ante, rather than lose face value. When humiliation, name calling, and dumping Brian’s own food onto him don’t work, they’re forced to even greater heights…or in this case greater depravity. The main issue I had with this one, is although anyone of any size eating their dumped food off of their own head or lunchroom table would be disgusting, it’s often only ever used when describing fat people, and therefore can read as fat phobic. This is ultimately completely erased though by the novella’s climax, it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way while reading. But there is more to Brian, his size and shape, than you may have previously thought.

The Naughty Corner, the novella collection’s namesake, as well as its third entry, is a madhouse of desire, neglect, infatuation, and control. Set in what appears to be an Idyllic town, it may not take long for them to remember that looks can be deceiving. Sheila, Frank, and Charlie move into a new house, in a new neighborhood. What appears to be a good deal, comes with a set of ‘guidelines’ for their behavior. With the list in the dozens, they may have gotten more than they bargained for. This novella, which could be argued to also include some terrible elderly horror, mixes some of the more unusual with its doses of horror. In this case, it does that by mixing, and thus distorting, pleasure.

Personally a 4/5*, the first was definitely a favorite. But this is a great showcase of the author’s skills, as there are three very different stories on display.

This book is a collection of 3 novellas that are very different from each other in both plot and tone. Honestly, I went into this thinking it would be light and fun, and it was at times, but I was in for a rude awakening in the best way possible.

The Generation Game- right off the starting line I was caught off guard with how mentally brutal this one was. Society needs to deal with a population problem so the entertainment industry steps in to make things interesting and to give some lucky(?) people a fighting chance. I don’t know what was worse, how bloody dark this was or the hope that strings you along.

My Name is Brian- this was the goofy story of the 3 with boyish humor and unexpected gas leaks. However this was also the story that was shameful and filled with the deep fear that only bullies can induce.

The Naughty Corner- the titular story is not what you are expecting. It is a different kind of bully story, but you’ll go along with it because it’s for the greater good. That’s all I’m saying but prepare to feel helpless.

There is actually a quote from The Generation Game that sums up the 3 stories pretty well-
“It’s a no-win situation. Death, or living another few decades trying to come to terms with what they’ve been through.”

I love a book that grips every particle of my being and doesn't let go.

The Naughty Corner is a collection of three horror novellas.

I started with My Name is Brian, the middle story in the collection. This shorter tale packs punch. Creepy, spine prickling punch with a side of other worldliness. We meet Brian, the flabby new kid at school. You know, the gross one that becomes a new target for all the bullies. The cast in this one is brilliant, representing each of the kids we all remember from our own sweaty, awkward teenage years. The way that Towse trickled in hints of everything off and wrong about Brian was perfect. I was truly shocked and more than delighted as the layers were peeled away, and the light was revealed.

I then plunged into The Naughty Corner. Bravo, Towse, BRAVO!!! We follow a family moving to a gated community and a better life. What we end up in is a twlilight zone style neighborhood.

There wasn't any room in this one to be comfortable or take a deep breath. The entire time, my body was clenched, and my teeth were grinding. The level of creepiness is ultra satisfying. The surprises will leave even the most ravenous horror addicts with tingles running down their spines. The character pulling all the strings was executed to perfection. This was honestly one of the most satisfying horror stories I've ever read.

I finished with The Generation Games. This one is a high paced, action-packed gory ride. We follow a group of couples trying to reclaim their youth and the greed driven controllers behind it all. This is a brilliant look at what some humans will do to survive and what others will do to protect those they love. The tension runs high with little relief and takes the reader to new heights. My veins were vibrating right to the end.

This collection wasn't my first Towse ride, and it won't be my last. I've been dying to read this, finally opened it a few days ago, and literally couldn't put it down.

Mark Towse's new novella collection is a richly satisfying mash up of geriatric, coming-of-age and urban horror, with Towse's darkly humorous take on the human condition.

The first novella, "The Generation Games," though a tale taking place in the not-so-far future, is brimming with nostalgia and cynicism: reminiscent of Hunger Games, Saw, Squid Game, and Survivor-type reality shows, it breaks new ground by putting married couples of 70-year-olds in competition both with each other and flesh-eating, zombie-like savages; the result is a brutal, at times bittersweet, glimpse into married life and old age, the perfect introduction to what Mark Towse's fiction is all about - beautiful writing pulling no punches!

The second novella, "My Name Is Brian," my favorite story of the collection, is told from the point of view of a man who, as a teenager of the '80s, faced an incredibly creepy situation, involving bullying, teenage hormones, first love, good friends, and blood - lots of blood. This story escalates into heartbreaking carnage, so read with caution.

After the future and the past, the third novella takes place in the present: "The Naughty Corner" is a feat of the imagination, touching on several tropes of urban horror, with sharp dialogue and surprising plot twists. A gated community, a beautiful neighborhood, suburbia, rich homes and welcoming neighbors offering cherry pies - but this all comes with a heavy cost: a self-appointed homeowner's association! There's adultery, tension in marriage, a wonderful father-son relationship, plus magic and the shocking explanation of the novella's title. This one has to be read to be believed! Beware of spoilers.

And how can you not love a collection whose disclaimer page warns you that any resemblance to reality in the book is coincidental and/or fictional, "except all the details about Hell, that is real"!

"It’s certainly an eclectic assortment. Shakespeare, Hemingway, and—who the hell is Mark Towse?"

Well played, Mark. I couldn't help but chuckle at that line.

Mark Towse's The Naughty Corner: A Horror Novella Collection starts strong with The Generation Games.

Set in 2039, the senior generations have been culled and anyone approaching septuagenarian years may choose between accepting euthanasia upon your 70th birthday, or taking part in a high-stakes game show much like The Running Man, Hunger Games and Battle Royale on steroids, with zombies thrown in for good measure.

The second story - My Name is Brian - is a fresh take on the bullying trope, but with a twist I did NOT see coming. The prey becomes the Predator in this dark sci-fi-horror tale.

Side note: I enjoyed this reference to some good movies!! "Twenty-three Arlington Road, forty-seven Cloverfield Lane, twenty-nine Mulholland Drive."

"Melody fucking Drive"
The final titular story, The Naughty Corner, has ruined cherry pie for me, but I'll let it slide on account of how WILD, gripping and entertaining this story was - definitely my favourite of the collection!

The Harpers' move to a bigger house in a gated community turns from dream to a nightmare in the blink of an eye. The new neighbours seem nice as pie, but there are strict rules to living in their neighbourhood, and breaking them could land you in the naughty corner...or an early grave.

There are some excellent and fresh ideas in this collection and I thoroughly enjoyed reading these wild and wonderful tales of terror. Towse has a knack for combining horror with moments of comedy, lightening the gorey terror with some good chuckles.

From favourite to least favourite: Naughty Corner, Generation Games and then My Name is Brian -
the last one was just more heartbreaking for me, to the point that the bullying just kind of dragged on.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The creepiest short horror stories you’ll ever read! The Naughty Corner is a collection of 3 horror novellas, all of which are extremely well written and heart pounding! This was my first time reading a short horror story and I really enjoyed the experience. Each story was so creepy in their own unique way and the themes were powerfully portrayed in a fast-paced, succinct, nerve-wracking way. This was definitely a read outside my normal comfort zone, but overall I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend for fans of super creepy horror stories that’ll freak you out for days! 😈

GENERATION GAMES
This story was my favorite of the 3 - it’s so dark and twisted but does an incredible job portraying powerful themes of how the world views aging & greed. It’s basically Squid Games meets Saw meets Reality TV and I would read this if it were a full novel. I’ll be thinking about the characters and the premise for a long time.

MY NAME IS BRIAN
This short story is Men In Black meets Richard Chizmar’s nostalgic writing style from Becoming the Boogeyman. It was a little too sci-fi for my liking but overall, a super creepy, fast paced read that’ll get your heart pounding!

THE NAUGHTY CORNER
This was the most unsettling of the stories for me. I was immediately scared by the intro and couldn’t put it down until I finished. It reminded me of a mix between American Horror Story: Cult and Hot Fuzz (minus the comedy 😅). My palms were sweating while reading this and I was so stressed out the entire time. Recommend for fans of neighborhood thrillers! Also this quote 🤌🏼 “There are tears, followed by subdued quiet as they settle into unified realization they’ve just bought a piece of real estate in Hell itself, all under the guise of the Bible.”

The latest horror novella from Mark Towse brings 3 new tales designed to shock and awe the reader. The stories include a post-apocalyptic future, a gross Sci-Fi encounter, and a seemingly too good to be true neighborhood.

The Generation Games - In the year 2039, the world has been ravaged and population is out of control. One solution is to have everyone be euthanized once they turn 70. Another is to have married older couples fight in an all out death match against each other and mutants for a chance to be given a passport to their later years. A very stark look at the depravity mankind can have, especially for entertainment purposes. I'll be 54 in 2039 which means I could possibly have been chosen…

My Name is Brian - The new boy in school is the bane of the school bully's existence. No matter what is done to him, he does not respond. Add in the fact he is morbidly obese, prone to disgusting bodily functions, and is just an all around odd duck, you have a little coming of age fit for The X-Files. Never tease the new kid…

The Naughty Corner - A family moves into a gated community that they believe will provide them with a new start. Right away they learn that things aren't always what the seem. A neighbor who crafts highly detailed peg people of the residents, a laundry list of rules, and frequently delivered cherry pies (what is it with cherry pie Mark Towse??) soon have this family wrapped up in a web of secrets that will have you second guessing your neighbors.

Overall, this was an unsettling little collection of stories. I highly recommend you check this one out.

The Naughty Corner
Three novellas in one book. A fun romp through many of the disturbing quirks humanity has to offer.
Towse does a nice job with his characters. I loved them all, even the awful ones!
• My favorite story was the title one - The Naughty Corner. It may sound like something out of a children's book, but I assure you it's not innocent. A nice family moves into a seemingly idyllic neighborhood, but a long list of rules, unusual neighbors, tasty pies, and a little infidelity, all merge to reveal something much darker at play. This story was a great read for anyone who has ever found themselves living in the suburbs and hating it, or who has ever felt oppressed by their Homeowner's association as I have.
•My Name is Brian - This story was brimming with 80s childhood nostalgia for me. And more than its fair share of bathroom humor. I wanted to both hug and strangle the main character, which I take as a sign of quality writing.
CW for bullying with this one.
• Generation Games - This was the first story and landed least for me. I found the basic premise to be a Whitty, smart, and wonderfully sinical take on humanity. However, the implementation dragged some for me, and became a chaotic slog of too many characters and too many details. I think Towse could've written as good of story in fewer words with this one.
I enjoyed The Naughty Corner overall and look forward to reading more of Towse!

This is an entertaining collection of three novellas that will give you just the right amount of creepy vibes. In "The Generation Games", you have a mash-up of reality TV, the Hunger Games (but for Seniors) and zombies! With the world population getting out of control, only a chosen few can survive past their 70th birthday. But, there is a chance if you can outlast the game!

In "My Name is Brian", a group of teenagers learn the hard way that there are consequences to bullying , especially when you pick the wrong kid to torment!

My favorite of the three was "The Naughty Corner". When a family moves into an elite neighborhood, they think that their dreams have come true. Instead, it turns out to be a nightmare of the worst kind. If you have ever lived under the rule of a HOA, you will especially relate to the "guidelines" of this neighborhood. But, I'm sure that the punishments you endure will be much less grim!

The author has done a good job in creating characters that are well written and relatable in these short stories. There is just the right amount of horror in each tale and you can read each one when you just need a quick bite of scariness. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

4.5 ⭐️

My favorite thing about these short stories is that they had their own feel, maybe due to the pacing of each.

𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀- This novella essentially
takes the premise of a series like hunger games, and sprinkles some walking dead for flavor. Societal stories with a twist like this always have my interest. It’s hard not to put yourself in the characters’ shoes!

𝗠𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻- I thought the take on the bullying Trope was fascinating. Dark sci-fi done right if you ask me. The POV of 80’s teenager that was displayed was interesting, and the twist caught me off guard! I was surprised by how fast I finished the story. The pacing may have had a lot to do with that.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿- Something about urban horror doesn’t sit right with me ! It’s creepy because sometimes it feels like the most likely scenario we could find ourselves in (don’t ask me why). Step-ford Wives walked so stories like this could run. The gated community in the suburbs, and the seemingly welcoming neighbors help set the sudden tension that comes about. Not everything is as it seems!

Highly recommend reading this one. Thank you to the author for sending me a copy of the book to read, it was also such a heartwarming touch to see that he dedicated the book also to the bookstagrammers 🖤🥹

This is another belter from the Awesome Author Mark Towse. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read a copy of this for an honest review.

I could not put this down. It is a collection of 3 Novellas all of which are gripping.

The first is The Generation Games. In a world where once you are 70 you either have your life ended with a lethal injection, or with your spouse, go in front of a tv audience for survival games against flesh eating zombies, unless you have money of course.

The second is set in the 80 and is My Name is Brian. Bullies beware, you never know what you are up against if you pick on the new kid. you could end up dead. This one is crazy, and heart breaking all at the same time.

The third book is The Naughty Corner. it is set in the present and is a bit big brother gone bad. In a serene pretty gated community you are controlled by rules which are very punishable if broken by voodoo magic. with weird situations not involving rule braking that are sort of like tests of emotional strength.

I loved every one of these stories and highly recommend them. A true Towsey experience with his unique brilliant horror and humour style.

Super messed up set of novellas, that I stumbled into on a Kindle Unlimited run, sometimes I just grab books for the covers or vibes and this one looked crazy.

The Generation Games was so wild, but I love weird things like that, and this was weird, a law that basically means if you hit 70, you gotta go, and I don't mean to a old folks home, you gotta die, or if you are super lucky you can compete in a game to live, but to win, the things you have to do, is it worth it?

My Name Is Brian was really creepy and made my skin crawl a few times, while being a loner and reading don't make you bad ( hell that's me) letting your new hormones get the best of you, might not be the best move my dude.

The Naughty Corner was my all time favorite one, house that looks like it was what dreams are made of, but this HOA type situation might be the hidden price tag. This was hands down, one of the best little novellas I have ever read, I would love more like The Naughty Corner from Mark.

This collection all in all was really nice, the novellas were too much, but just enough to make me want more.

Mark Towse’s The Naughty Corner is an absolute delight for horror readers! I’m so happy I read this.
The Generation Games ticked all the boxes for me. Senior citizens, reality tv, zombies... I could not ask for more! This novella is stressful and gory. Towse does a great job of creating characters that I instantly fell in love with. Could this please be a full length novel???
My Name Is Brian is an original story about bullying in the 80s. I literally could not put this down, and thank you to Towse for completely distracting me from my nerve pain. It’s also kind of gross.
The Naughty Corner – oh boy! This is a novella that just keeps picking up steam throughout it. A family moves to an idyllic gated community with guidelines to help maintain tranquility. But there’s more… there’s always more than what meets the eye. The Naughty Corner made me uncomfortable in all the right ways.
These may be Towse’s best works yet.

Once again Mark Towse did amazing with his writing, was hooked in the first few pages! Do naughty corner is three short horror stories in one.

The first story I wanted more of. It was really good with the hunger games style and I wanted to see more of want happen to the lady who left the tv production of the show and the guy who basically got a secret promotion.

The second story gave me Stephen King Dream Catcher vibe with Mr. Grey when you get to the end of the story. I loved that!

And the third story I felt was either a prequel to his other book Nana or at least did like Stan Lee with same universe. If you read Nana then you get what I mean, but if you hated then go read it because I don't want to spoil anything 😊

Geriatric horror at its finest

I would read an entire novel of the generation games, and I am so glad it was the first one. I enjoyed this collection and my only complaint is I wish it was longer.

My name is Brian creeped me out and actually had me tense, wondering what was going to happen. Mark Towse knows how to build atmosphere and characters in a very British way. I swear, I read all these characters as having English accents.

A good amount of gore and disturbing imagery and yet very accesible for a newer horror reader. Loved it!

This was a great little collection of short ish stories. Just what I needed after reading many novels. All of these stories were great in there own unique ways. Not only were they creepy but they also had some "feely" moments in them. I must admit as hard as it was to read at times because of the bullying the story " My Name Is Brian" was the favourite for me. The last last story in this collection was a cracking good read also. I also enjoyed the Aussie slang that is sprinkled throughout this book too.

The Naughty Corner is a collection of three novellas— all completely different yet each one guaranteed to provide you with goosebumps. Mark Towse does not frighten us with ghost and goblins, but with the evil that can come from a rotten core. Reminiscent of Stephen King, Towse please, with the topics of greed, competition, and elitism to expose the underbelly of humanity. I don’t often give five stars, but the naughty corner deserved it.

A world where a law says everyone that is seventy must die. A few are picked to play for a longer life. The game is dangerous. Brian prefers to be left alone . What happens when he isn't. A beautiful new house hides dark secrets. Can the new family survive? Pulse pounding read. Characters you love and characters you hate.

This is a collection of three horror novella's. Three different kinds of horrors. I liked that each story had details of characters, which novella's don't normally have. I liked the twist in each novella. The writing is fast-paced and a psychological focus. There is an unknown force in each of the novella's. There is also plenty of grossness. All three novella's were good.
