Hot Flash Homicides #2

Wicked Brain Fog in Glimmerspell

Rate this book
An impending divorce. A hot homicide detective. And spontaneous time travel. Midlife in Glimmerspell is proving to be magical.

If I thought the first half of my life was a bumpy ride, I’d better buckle up because I’m about to go over the hill and off the rails.

*A laugh out loud Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore*

A masquerade ball has all of Glimmerspell a titter as the entire town congregates at Hyland Hall, where an art benefit is set to raise funds for the local university. But things take a dark turn when an artist turns up dead and I’m left holding the murder weapon. Not only will I have to clear my good name, but the local vampire coven has recruited me to help find a couple of missing women using my time-traveling abilities. They’ve got to be kidding, right? I can no more control those jaunts around the calendar than I can control the hot flashes that sponsor them. Here’s hoping I don’t end up dead or worse—staring a mastodon in the face.
Glimmerspell is rumored to be home to vampires, werewolves, and fae, but those are just simply gimmicks to lure tourists to their snowy little town—aren’t they? Turns out, the rumors are true. Add a few paranormal creatures, one very hot vampire, my inability to control my romps around the time continuum, and a murder—and I’ve got more trouble than I know what to do with.

Who said midlife was boring?

Midlife in Glimmerspell can be a real killer.

What do you get when you mix mystery, romance, comedy, and the paranormal? You get something much like this book which defies easy genre classification. Paranormal romance? Cozy mystery? Rom-com? Romantic Suspense? Well, yes. All of the above. This time we see a little bit more of Billie’s vulnerabilities as she navigates exes, children, and new relationships all while still stumbling into the middle of a murder investigation as the prime suspect. I love the irreverent sense of humor that fills this book along with a twisty mystery that kept me guessing all the way to the end. This is such a quirky group of characters and after some of the revelations about the “people” of Glimmerspell, I can’t wait to read even more about them.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.

absolutely cute story. very funny in parts but the narration just ruins it for me. the AI narration just doesn't cut it. infections in the wrong places word said all wrong and absolutely no personality to it. but looking past that the story is really cute and I enjoyed it. it is nice to have a FMC that is older than my kid.

Cute really. It’s still a bit confusing to properly piece things together in some parts, but for the most part I am truly enjoying this read. I want more time-travel! I also want things to move forward quicker with Elliot and Billie. Get the show on the road (…and in the bed…) you two! Lol. I don’t want deets, I just want it to happen, but at least they are official now.

I’m waiting for Iona to pull out some payback to Billie for Billie taking “Iona’s man”. It’s ridiculous that Iona thinks she owns Elliot just because they made a child together 18 years prior. Please! He’s not property. I hope to see nothing too bad come Billie’s way.

And speaking of bad things coming Billie’s way, I hope Harold gets “burned” and ends up giving Billie everything she deserves (her money for half of the sale of their house, her half of the money from the hardware business, and child support. Oh, and alimony…nah, the other 3 are sufficient). If he has money to buy his new woman a Tesla, he should have at least some amount of money to give Billie. She gave him 19 of her years! And to top it all off, Harold may not even be the baby’s father that his new woman is prego with! So frustrating that a duuchcanoe Harold is!

Well, the 2 women in this story that disappeared were found and the kidnappers will pay a higher price than prison, so Justice shall be served there. And the lady who was murdered, once again Billie put herself in harms way (the front end of a gun to her face) to solve the murder.

Next is the 3rd of this 4 book series: Mistletoe in Glimmerspell

Oh! I need to add-on that there is a recipe at the end of each book!

Billie Buttonwood is adjusting to life in a paranormal town. At forty-five, it's been a shock to find out that creatures other than humans exist. She has fae friends, a niece who is a ghost, met some werewolves, and is involved with a couple of drool worthy vampires that she may be crushing on. She also has a horrible ex, Howard, that cheated on her with a local co-ed who happens to be his distant cousin. The Hyland Masquerade Party, held at the home of socialite Magdalena Hyland's large mansion, is the social event of the season. Billie's friends and even her ex is there. The unthinkable happens and there is a murder! Billie wants to find out who the murderer was. Elliot, a detective and Cash, the local sheriff don't really want her involved but do need her help with a different case of two missing female hikers. Billie recently discovered that she is transmundane and her midlife hot flashes sometimes bring on time travel. Elliott and Cash are hoping that she can lead them to the kidnappers. Of course, she can't stay away from investigating the murder at the same time. This book is the second in a new series by Addison Moore but can be read as a standalone. I would recommend that you read the first book though so that you can meet all the characters and see how Billie's "special gift" came about. I think you'll love these characters as much as I do. I am really looking forward to the next book to see how the characters further develop and see the relationships that they form.

Billie is trying to enjoy the regency ball after having to deal with her ex. She is meets some interesting people there. Billie is looking for someone when she sees the body on the floor. It looks like she did it, even though Elliott and Cash know she didn't do it. Billie will help Elliot and Cash with the investigations. She will also have more issues with her gift of traveling. Billie will learn more about Elliott and his family including Cash. They will have a major ask of her and her magic. Will Billie decide to go forward with a relationship or not. Billie has so much on her plate plus what her ex is up too.

I am completely hooked into this story. The world, characters, the mystery there is so much in it for everyone. You will laugh so hard at the antics of some of the characters. Billie is a divorcee with a young daughter learning her way in this new world, but also realizing she is worth more than she has gotten. As she navigates this new world, is keeping on eye on her daughter. I love the dynamic between them. I love the chemistry with Elliott and can't wait to where they go. I didn't go into much detail as I am not spoiling this for anyone, highly recommend reading.

This series just may have won its spot in my top 3 cozy mysteries! Billie Buttonwood has found herself in the magical town of Glimmerspell. While dealing with a crazy cheating ex, a teenage daughter and a new possible love interest she finds out her new home town is more magical than she could ever have imagined. She's heard all the rumors about werewolves, vampires and different kinds of fae and has just found out they are all true. This magical town has also awakened the power inside of her to travel time and space that she never knew she had before. You may think that is more than enough for one person to handle and you would be right. The universe however decides to throw in a little homicide to the mix.....one she can't help but feel responsible to help bring to justice. This book will meet all of your expectations for a great cozy murder mystery and I look forward to the next one!

Billie Buttonwood is a time traveler extraordinaire, no thanks to her midlife hot flashes! Billie has her hands full raising a teenage daughter, going through divorce proceedings, finding her way around a new romance, and now caught red-handed with a murder weapon! She can't seem to catch a break. With a new life in Glimmerspell, overflowing with paranormal beings, Billie will need to use her available resources to catch a killer and clear her name. A hot homicide detective and sheriff assist her along the way to the past, and the future, to find a murderer and maybe uncover other mysteries within this mystical town. Adding to her already overflowing problems is her soon-to-be ex and his extremely pregnant fiancee who are getting on Billie's last nerve. Billie will need to focus on clues and working with her friends and family, to solve these crimes and stay in the present. Read this 2nd book in the Hotflash Homicide series by the amazing author Addison Moore!

Wicked in Glimmerspell is the second book in the Hot Flash Homicides series. Billie Buttonwood’s life has been turned up side down. She walked in on her husband with another women half their age and come to find out she is pregnant and he proposed to her and she. She had spent the last nineteen years with Harold and he has never made her feel as though she matter, and now that he has stepped out on there marriage Billie has the chance to make a change. She talked to her niece in Glimmerspell and has a place to live and a job. Now that she has settled she is making friends and loving her job, just not her hot flashes and the side effects she has after the big ones, time traveling.
Being a time traveler has caused her to leave and pop in with out much warning and she is trying to keep from outing her newly acquired skill. It has come in handy to being able to help her get a extra clue or two to help solve the murder or unsolved case. I am looking forward to more from this series.

I want to live in Glimmerspell and be besties with Billie Buttonwood!
Glimmerspell took a life that got turned upside down, and flipped it and reversed it. Living in a paranormal town really has its shocks and awes. Full of mystery, paranormal people, romance to make you dash hot a time or two, and so many laughs, you can’t stop from binge reading this book.
Billies life has ex’s, her child, her ex’s new woman, and new friends and a relationship. Life is hard normal all this makes it’s nothing short of a mess she is trying to navigate along with her new traveling skills.
Addison has a way with cozy mysteries and I love them all but hands down can’t wait for my next trip to Glimmerspell.

Billie has recently had to deal with time travel inducing hot flashes, in addition to her messy divorce, teen drama with her daughter, and drama with her co-worker Iona

Naturally, Iona is the mother of the son of her love interest. Not sure Elliott or his son Royce are worth the trouble, especially as the kids seem to have feelings for each other.

throw in feuding paranormals, new babies on the way, kidnappings of hikers, and a grisly murder of an unpopular gal- plenty of drama, sleuthing, angst and action

Billie can time travel when she has a hot flash, but can not control it. She goes to a big gala at the mansion and a murder takes place. Luckily the local law, Elliot and Cash, know she did not do it, even though she has the weapon. They start working on two cases and things start getting good. Surprises and twists abound and the characters are terrific as they sort out all the details of the missing girls and the murder. Loved the ending and can not wait for another book of this group.

Between the actual murder-mystery and the personal-life drama happening in these pages, this is a pretty fast-paced read — certainly kept me turning the pages. While I’m not such a fan of the angsty personal bits, the book was engaging and the characters likable-enough so you still wanted to know how things turn out for everyone. Big fan of this author and her writing-style. Don’t know if I’ll be picking up the next in this series, but still would recommend for fans of the author and the tropes included.

A humorous paranormal mystery.
Being a woman of a certain age, I particuarly liked the unusual premise that Billie's hot flashes
causes her to time travel. Although this can occur at inconvenient times, it also helps her to
solve the case

The repartee between all the characters made me chuckle

I highly recommend to all

Billie and her teenage daughter Harper are now residents in the town of Glimmerspell after a nasty divorce. Billie has caught the eye of two lawmen who are both exceptionally handsome. I'd say she has upgraded and she seems to be enjoying her new life. Time traveling is a new skill she has learned, as is investigating murders. Fortunately, she has a supportive group of friends that are funny and kind.

I really enjoy this series, this book was flirty fun from start to finish. I love the chemistry between Billie and Elliott and their growing relationship.

Billie is going through menopause, and most of the time when she has hot flashes she time travels, usually at the most inconvenient times.

I received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review.

This author has once again brought us a fun and entertaining read. It has it all. Romance, Comedy, Drama, Suspense, Mystery and even a little of the supernatural. Billie is a great character and I loved getting a deeper look into her personality in this addition to the series. I really enjoyed my time reading this one and I look forward to reading more in the future. Well done to the author.

Billie

Another murder and Billie just grabbed the statue, so her fingerprints are on it and her hands are covered in blood. But Elliot knows she didn't do it, and they both work on finding out who did. Meanwhile on the supernatural side, two hikers are missing, and are believed to be kidnapped by vampires.

Great

This is an excellent series by Addison Moore and my favorite of her series. It's not predictable or overly cheesy. Moore does take the whole hot flash episodes a bit too far. There's too much focus on hot flashes in middle age women. I do like that the characters seem to be more open minded.

Wicked

Billie is again in the middle of a murder but not really a suspect this time. There are also two female hockers that are missing. She is helping Elliot and Cash look into both cases and still trying to get a handle on her traveling hot flashes. Another great story.

I love this new series as it has a little twist on her other two series that I fell in love with. It also hints at the characters from Country Cottage Inn and Murder in the Mix. Can't wait to see how the series continues.

Fun in the hot flashes!

Only in Glimmerspell where it's almost always cold and snowy can it be filled with hot vampires as the newest resident is also the new traveler helping the local law solve crime. Adventure awaits and I can't wait for the next one!

This series is interesting, though I'm slightly annoyed with Iona, I mean really who goes around acting like that? Warning people off her ex? Like he's property and people can't make their own minds up. And on that I don't like Elliot being all cryptic and bossy himself 🙄
