Each of our lives is part of a series of lifetimes whose reality lies in an "Other" spirit world. In this enlightening book, author and religious leader Ryuho Okawa reveals the multidimensional aspects of the Other World, describing its dimensions, its characteristics, and its governing laws. The Laws of Eternity fully explains why it is essential for us to understand the structure and history of the spirit world, for now is the time to give proper motivation to our lives―to prepare for the Golden Age which awaits us.
Ryuho Okawa is a renowned spiritual thinker, leader, and author in Japan with a simple goal: to help people find true happiness and create a better world. To date, Okawa’s books have sold over 100 million copies worldwide and been translated into 31 languages. His books address vital issues such as how our thoughts influence reality, the nature of love, and the path to enlightenment. In 1986, Okawa founded Happy Science as a spiritual movement dedicated to bringing greater happiness to humankind by uniting religions and cultures to live in harmony. Happy Science has grown rapidly from its beginnings in Japan to a worldwide organization. The spiritual workshops Happy Science offers are open to people of all faiths and walks of life and are rooted in the same simple principles of happiness that inspired Okawa’s own spiritual awakening. Okawa is compassionately committed to the spiritual growth of others; in addition to writing and publishing books, he continues to give talks around the world.
I have my doubts about rating this book so highly. You see, it is one of the holy books of the Japanese new religion Kofuku-no-Kagaku, Happy Science (literally "Science of Happiness"). This religion is kind of like a cult in that it worships the author, Ryuho Okawa, as a literal "God or Buddha". It is unlike a cult in that it does not hole up with guns in remote places, shoot at outsiders and have weird sex. Brainwashing is optional, I think you have to do it yourself, or at least pay for it. The membership is somewhere between 12 million (who buy his books) and a few thousand (who vote for him in the Japanese election). In any case, it is pretty special. Most bestselling writers aren't worshiped as gods, but then again this is Japan. Also, he writes approximately a book a week, closing in on 800 by now.
Even so, I really enjoyed the book itself. It teaches that humans are what we habitually think, and the spirit world is not some alternate place: We are already there. If we think hellish thoughts, we are not going to hell, we are in hell already and the difference is that without flesh we can't pretend to be other than we are. This is truly hell for some, but heaven for others. Those who think good thoughts are already in Heaven with their mind, and when the flesh is gone they will be there fully, since thought or mind is all that remains.
What really fascinated me was that I recognized several of the "dimensions" or levels of the spirit world that he described. In fact, it is rather familiar up to the sixth dimension (the Realm of Light), and I kind of know the seventh by observation although not from experience. I don't really understand the eight and ninth dimension, though, but then I am probably not supposed to, since they are for truly great spirits. I am not one of those, and I can bring witnesses to that.
I am not at all convinced that you have to be a "God or Buddha" to be able to write a book like this. The book itself does not make any such claim either, and he does not pretend that he can save anyone, except by telling them to save themselves. So it seems mostly harmless. But don't blame me if you become a sect member or something.
