The Solar Tsunami: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP/CME Survival Thriller

An unexpected solar storm destroys the U.S. power grid and unravels civilization.
Natasha is a student from a nomadic Siberia tribe trying to adjust to her new life in New York and fit in. But when a cataclysmic solar storm slams into the planet, everything changes.

Lightning storms hammer the entire globe, burning and destroying everything they touch.

The electrical grid goes down. Fires rage out of control. Cars and electronics quit working.

Help isn’t coming.

Time is short to flee from a now-lawless city with millions of hungry people who are becoming increasingly desperate.

So, Natasha and some new friends hatch an audacious plan to use some of the University’s horses to reach her family in Northern Maine, where they will be welcomed and have plenty of food and water... if they can get there.

600 miles of the unknown lies between them and the safe haven. And before they can escape the violence of New York, Natasha must retrieve something that was stolen from her village.

It won't be easy, but this is her only shot.

Don't miss this thrilling new EMP/CME Post-Apocalyptic tale from best-selling author David A. Simpson. This disaster series is perfect for fans of Kyla Stone, A.G. Riddle, Bobby Akart, Jack Hunt, and Ryan Schow.

A riveting read.

I'm glad that I decided to read this book because I really didn't like the cover and thought it was more to do with space and aliens, never judge a book by its cover. It's a frightening and believable story with great action and characters that are described well. The book moves really quick with some twists and turns that are unexpected. A brilliant read.

Wonder what it's like inside a microwave? Read this book and find out.

Our sun gets 100 points in the interstellar darts championship when it scores a bullseye with a CME aimed at Earth. Yay...beers for everyone interstellar bartender!

The description of the hit on our lovely home by a coronal mass ejection were scary, vivid and grabbing. All the more scary when you realise it could actually happen. No more TV for years and I'll never find out if there was a decent sequel to Game Of Thrones. Civility and manners didn't last long once all the power, cars, and anything electronic died. 24 hours in fact. I reckon that's probably about right. Sigh...more people running off with a mountain of dunny paper. The degradation of society is well-described and something akin to Lord Of The Flies, only worse.

The first book in the series is good. I'll read the second and see if things get more interesting.

This is a great beginning to a new series. The idea of a Solar Tsunami on its way had me hooked from the start to the end. Thrilling, exciting and scary, all I want in a book and I wasn't disappointed. Great characters that you love and hate will keep you engrossed as it all unfolds. Really looking forward to reading more of this series.

This was a relatively short start to a series that has some promise. There were some plot elements that I found troublesome. Once the data was available to know that a catastrophe CME was heading to Earth, why was the briefing scientist a meteorologist and not an astronomer or astrophysicist? I get he was supposed to be the head of NOAA, but why was he the only person of science there? While I like Natasha, she is only 16 and seems to be a little too aggressively competent for that age. The inattentive administration, gangs, prison escapees and college frat boys gone Mad Max were kind of cliche and the violence is quite graphic. The fixation on religious relics rather than actual survival is also odd, but I suppose is there for a reason for these groups to intersect. I am curious what happens next, so will likely continue to book 2.

Despite the politicians and public leaders' refusal to believe, the solar catastrophe devastated the country. With utilities and transportation shut down in the aftermath, what happens when the food finally runs out? Who will emerge from the rubble, unsung heroes?... or tyrants?

With well-developed characters and plenty of action, David Simpson casts you into a world of apocalyptic chaos. Highlighting the best and worst of humanity, his story follows the perilous journey of a young woman and her friends as they survive not only the elements, but the fanatical behavior of people consumed by power and greed.

With good readability and high engagement, you won't want to put it down.

Side note, I was lucky to get my hands on a pre-release version. I'm sure the finished product will be even better...

A scary but thrilling look at a possible apocalyptic world.

This is a story about a solar storm so big with coronal mass ejections from the sun that could possibly change life today as we know it. It would basically knock us back into life in the middle ages. A great cast of characters and an awesome storyline. I love zombie apocalyptic stories. Now that is not what this book is about. The difference is a zombie apocalypse is a fantasy story because think about it there was almost 0 possibility of someone dying and then their body reanimating and coming back and chasing you around and trying to eat you. However. Possibility of a corona mass ejection and solar storm from the sun is a possibility. It actually happened back in the 1800s and is known as that Carrington event. You can look it up and see what happened. Telegraph lines caught fire and burned telegraph operators were shocked and burned their telegraph units burst into flames. That storm was mild comparison to the possibilities. What would happen if a much larger ejection happened and the resulting solar storm hit earth directly. Well read on and you will begin to find out. As in almost every apocalyptic story. You will find that there are Jackasses out there in the world. Those people you knew there were always a jackass in normal life are gonna become disputes in the apocalyptic world. They will take what they want do what they want and not give a crap about who they hurt or kill. Such is life in a post apocalyptic world. Does not matter if it’s a zombie apocalypse and EMP apocalypse a solar ejection Apocalypse and astrological apocalypse of some sort. Whatever type of actual real life apocalypse you can think of. There will be humans out there that will revert back to a basically berserker dictatorial type belief system. Those who have power and weapons will go out and take what they want and do what they want. Our cast of characters are a group of college students who just want to make it to someplace safe and there are a number of groups already out trying to stop them and take what they want. Read on and follow the adventures of Natasha and her other friends try to make their way somewhere safe. Will they make it? What will they have to do to survive? Is humanity gone and only savages left? Well get to reading you will find the answers at least some of them in the first book of this trilogy. From the author of zombie Road apocalyptic series comes a new adventure. Check it out.

The Solar Tsunami is another one of those EMP stories that are just so freaking popular these days. I honestly read it, because it (sort of) indicated it might be a LitRPG story. (spoiler) it wasn't. But, it's probably one of the better EMP stories out there at the moment, since most of them focus exclusively on a small group, or an individual, and how they handle the EMP. This one actually tried to be an actual story about how a whole nation handles the EMP (well, in this case, it was a CME instead of an EMP, but many of the effects are similar. It does a fairly decent job, and it's likely I'll read other books in this series, since this was handled fairly well.

Solar Tsunami had me hooked from the start. The build up to the big event is brilliant and pulls you into the story immediately. The visuals are described in such vivid detail that you’ll feel like you’re there watching them yourself.

The characters are unique and well developed. The main character is intelligent, interesting, strong, somewhat unpredictable and humorous in unexpected ways. I enjoyed every single moment of her and couldn’t wait to see what she would say or do next.

The world building is incredible and there is plenty of action.

The start of this new series will have you eagerly awaiting the next book. I can’t wait to read more of this apocalyptic story set in a calamitous new world from the awe-inspiring mind of David A. Simpson.

What a action packed story!
David is creating a adventure that kept me guessing and hoping that the characters would make it one more page.
Natasha is not your run of the mill fmc, she's sarcastic, she's very young and she's used to the harsh life in the tundra.
Once the solar flare hits she's the first to see that the end of civilization is only two missed meals away... What to do when the campus bully suddenly turns into the campus dictator and decides to run with an iron fist?
Easy, you run. Between a holy relic, horses and the irish mob, David Simpson created a unique and heartwarming story. I can't wait to read book 2.

The earth has been decimated by a solar tsunami that has destroyed the power grids while millions have died. Natasha, a student from Siberia is more prepared for what's happening so she along with 3 other students set out from the University in New York for her family's home in Northern Maine where there will be plenty of food and water. Before they head there she has to make a quick stop to recover property that was stolen from her village. They are being chased by 2 groups, fellow students led by a power hungry bully who is becoming more violent and out of control and a group of criminals led by an Irishman who wants the same item that Natasha is after but for a different reason.

This isn't generally a genre that I enjoy listening to. But surprisingly the book was actually fun, which I hadn't expected... And I liked it.
When Natasha and her group of university students hatch a bold plan to travel cross-country to Maine a horseback! Once you mix horses into the story, I'm hooked. It's love at first sight! The story isn't an easy one though. It's convoluted and with lots of setbacks. So, yeah you'll want to find out what happens when you start listening to Solar Tsunami.
I hadn't ever listened to Eric A Shelman narration before and I discovered that he was quite good.

When a huge solar flare heads straight for the earth, those with the knowledge try to sound the alarm only to be pushed aside, the dangers downplayed.
We are quickly introduced to our main characters. Natasha, the Russian student and her friends, the Irish crime boss and his crew, the college frat boy and his buddies. Trying to gather things to make her way back home to Maine, Natasha runs afoul of the frat boys and enemies are made. That is just the beginning of the trials that will be faced in this dangerous new world they find themselves in.
I’m looking forward to continuing to the end of the trilogy!

It was interesting and I continued to read it but I while it started out good it kinda lost me when one of the college kids suddenly overnight turns into an evil warlord and everyone follows him. Let’s hope those in college have a little more sense. Lots of graphic violence which surprised me but I guess the author was trying to depict a whole new world order in the sense that the strongest will rule. It ended abruptly as it’s the first in a series. Many books waiting so I probably won’t get into the next book for a while if at all.

I wasn't sure about this at first, even though it was written by a great author. It looked like it was going to be a story about a bunch of teenagers in yet another EMP story. Boy was I wrong. This is much worse than an EMP, and it's filled with complex characters. You'll make assumptions about protagonists, antagonists, and supporting characters, and then you'll be surprised by how three dimensional they are. I can't wait to see where it goes.

Book one

I wanted to like this, but it lost my interest when it started going on about religious relics of the Christian faith and the power they held.

I thought I was reading a disaster book not a religious miracle story.

It's rather short at only 270 pages.

I will post the mistakes that I found in the first 180 pages on Goodreads. Yes I dropped this one.

3/10 Just not what I wanted to read. Claimed it was litrpg and it was not.

While David Simpson is known for his Zombie Road series, he has every right to be very proud of this series, which is intense and has great characters who are developed very well. The pacing is just right, and I can't wait for the world to lay their eyes on this series, which I am lucky enough to have read ear!y. Grab it! You'll be really glad you did!

WOW! BRB just preparing for doomsday lmao
this was so great, but also pretty brutal. It’s sad to think how quickly society would fall apart if something like this happened. This book had multiple POVs, and damn am I rooting for Natasha lol Holstram is seriously a piece of shit and I can’t wait to read the rest of this trilogy

Thrilling apocalyptic read!

The Solar Tsunami is a well written accounting of the first few days of the EMP apocalypse. The characters are very interesting and already some have earned my disgust. Just as I would expect if we actually had to endure a massive disaster such as is described. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The author has provided another ripping yarn based in post Solar Tsunami USA with fantastic characters and an un-put-down-able pace. I always find myself wondering how I'd survive in a similar situation and I'm glad I live in New Zealand, hopefully it'd be a bit more peaceful and slower to devolve into violent chaos. I'm looking forward to the next episode in this story, how will the hardy and resourceful Siberian girl and her friends survive being chased by sadistic bad guys, I really hope they do survive?
