"They say you always want what you can’t have. He has it all. Except her."
If anyone can pair a player with his soulmate, it’s me. Kennedy James, matchmaker elite. Turning pumpkins into six carat diamond rings and rich jerks into prince charming. Love is my business, and I’m damn good at selling it.
Until I meet him.
His expensive suit should have been my first warning. His wicked green eyes and panty dropping smile, my second. A good cupid knows when to trust her gut. And he had me feeling very, very bad.
Eva Simmons writes dark contemporary and gothic fantasy romance. With over twenty published books, Eva is constantly crafting new worlds and falling for the anti-hero in all of them. When Eva isn’t dreaming up stories or devouring every book she can get her hands on, she can be found spending time with her family, painting a fresh canvas, or playing an elf in World of Warcraft.
Eva is currently living out her own happily ever after in the Midwest with her family.
4.5 🌟 I genuinely don't understand how the book community has not discovered this book yet because it has everything they love. Hot love interest ✅ Badass independent female mc ✅ Supportive friend group ✅ Well written smut scenes ✅ an actual plot, not just banging eachother (though they did plenty of that) ✅
THIS IS QUITE LITERALLY THE ROMANCE BOOK OF MY DREAMS.
I loved Kennedy and Zac as main characters, I loved how they developed and grew during the story. They also felt so real to me! Kennedy and Zac are truly soulmates and it makes me heart so happy ❤️🩹
Eva Simmons writing is just amazing and beautiful, I fell in love with it. Another thing I loved is the smut was well written, the romance was well written and the third act conflict didn't feel forced.
Kennedy's friends were everything and more! I cannot wait for the next books in this series. I loved the plot of the story as well, it was so well written and felt very legit.
I will be recommending this book until I die because everyone who loves a good romance needs to read this 💋
Not that it really matters but I did read this within 24 hrs, if that means anything to you 😚
“Miss Matched” was a fun, light-hearted read. One of the things I love about romance novels is the journey to the HEA. We know when we start a romance book that the MCs will end up together, but we don’t know how, and it’s that journey that I enjoy the most. I felt that the journey for this book was well-paced, made sense, and was true to the characters, in particular at the conflict/climatic scene, when Kennedy held her ground and knew that she didn’t deserve how Zac treated her.
I also really liked Kennedy’s relationship with her best friends. It was clear that the three have each others’ backs, are each others’ cheerleaders, etc. They were also quirky, which added to the book (e.g. see scene when Monica pulls out her laptop in a club to write up scenes for her book - loved it!).
I will definitely be reading the next two books in the series to know what happens with Luce and Monica. I also want to know if Samson gets what he deserves and is booted from Zac’s company. :)
I've never read anything from Eva before but I'm definitely going to in the future! I really enjoyed the story and the characters from start to finish.
Although the theme may sound familiar in other romances, I found Eva's take refreshing. No one took themselves too seriously and could have a little chuckle at themselves when things could go sideways.
I also really enjoyed the fact that although we had a couple bad guys we weren't bogged down into heavy drama with them!
It seems as if Zac Vincent has it all; a successful business and more money than he knows what to do with. He is missing one piece of the puzzle: love. Hooking up and flings are his usual way of operating in the dating world, but a misunderstanding in the press and subsequent probation by the board of his company forces him to look for someone to "settle down" with.
Kennedy James is a renowned matchmaker in the Seattle area with an outstanding track record matching the most eligible bachelors with their soulmates. Although she creates love among her clients, love seems to be a foreign concept for her, and she tends to keep men at arm's length until she meets Zac.
I enjoyed reading the evolution of Kennedy and Zac's love story. The author did a great job to show how love can conquer all, and the ability to break down one's barriers can bring love one never thought that they would experience. This book is highly recommended to those looking for a spicy romantic read, no matter the season.
Disclaimer: I got this as an advanced reading copy (ARC) from BookSirens but I always give my honest opinion when it comes to book reviews.
This book should've been a short read but it took me 10 days to finish. It almost caused me to have another reading slump when I just got out of one after 10 years. So I think I deserve a pat in the back when this didn't become a DNF book.
Here's a quote: "And I've learned one important thing: you can't trust love, no matter how true it seems. People inevitably get tired of you, cheat on you, leave you, or die." I live for lines like this but it still wasn't enough to get me hooked in the story.
It's not the book, so maybe it's me?
Hear me out, I just wasn't able to connect with the main characters until the end and whatever they have going on feels forced to me. I'm not a fan of 2 people being instantly attracted to one another just because they're hot. And how come the things they miss about each other are only mostly sex-related? Then they call it love. I call that lust. As an adult, I view these things as something superficial.
Another issue are the main characters themselves. I mean, they're supposed to be smart, strong bosses who run their own companies who were able to overcome many hardships in life in order to be at the top, but how come I feel like they lack the ability to properly process their feelings like they're just taking their first steps into puberty? If they're supposed to be strong characters, then that should have been properly conveyed, but it just didn't get there. The male character? I consider him weak. I guess I just really had high expectations from them.
Regarding the plot, meh. I've read other books like this before.
And the conflict? It won't even be considered one if only they acted like mature and intelligent adults they're supposed to be.
The smutty content: can't even remember much of it. But if you're new to reading anything with spice, then this will affect you differently.
The only redeeming thing about this book may be the friendship between Luce, Monica, and Kennedy (female lead). I like how they always got each others' backs, and the strong differences in their personalities are quite entertaining.
I still give this one 2-stars since I still want others to give this one a try. I know our standards are unique to each of us and what may not work for me, may still work for you.
I actually really liked this book. I found the FMC so relatable, the writing was really cohesive, and the romance was sooooo good. This is a genuine good standalone to read
Great, steamy rom-com. I loved this story of matchmaker Kennedy, trying to find a wife for workaholic playboy, Zac – whilst fighting her own growing feelings for him. I really liked both of these main characters and felt the author allows you to really get to know them, and all their hang-ups throughout the story. As a result, the three-dimensional nature of these two protagonists, adds to the development and enjoyment of their story. Throw in Kennedy’s two great friends and Zac’s frenemy in the workplace and you have an entertaining, easy-to-read romance. Will definitely read the next two books about Kennedy’s friends.
I absolutely loved this book! It was such a sweet, romantic story that literally gave me all the feels. Kennedy and Zac both deserved to find love and they did with each other. Even though they both fought hard to stay apart, that magnetic pull brought them together. I loved Zac’s redemption act with Kennedy, and the epilogue was so sweet as well. If you’re in the mood for a romance literally look no further for your Cupid.
If you’re looking for some fun, spicy, romantic stories for your summer reading enjoyment, we’ve got you covered! The Seattle Singles series follows three best friends as they find their way to love and happy ever afters.
Match Make Him The matchmaker and the billionaire playboy (who’ll do anything to stay close to the woman he can’t stop thinking about…)
Write Him Off The romance author and the crime writer (who also happens to be the childhood best friend who left her with a broken heart a decade ago…)
The emotions for these two were so deep and felt really real. Kennedy and Zac. Duel POV. I absolutely loved these two. They are both healing from trauma that has them convinced they can’t have what they want. I was completely hooked from the beginning and the slow burn was just so good. I can not wait for the rest of this series.
The friendships introduced were great and i can definitely see where more in this series would go.
Kennedy is a very successful match maker for the rich, her business prides itself on finding your match. The only problem? She doesn’t believe in love.
Zac has been working to build his empire. When his playboy lifestyle threatens that, he takes drastic measures to prove to his board that he is responsible and a good representation of the company. He doesn’t believe he has the time or deserves love but goes ahead with hurrying a matchmaker to appease his board.
The only woman he wants is completely off limits. Falling for his matchmaker wasn’t the plan and she sure isn’t on board.
It’s a story as old as time - single matchmaker who believes everyone she loves leaves her has to find a match for a billionaire who believes the same thing. Neither are ready for love. Zac’s business reputation needs tweaking from being a guy with a different beauty every night to a guy looking for a wife.
I love this type of romance because we have two people that essentially believe they are not lovable being completely captivated by one another - and finding all kinds of reasons why they shouldn’t be together.
Told in a dual POV, we also get to meet Kennedy’s friends Monica and Luce who are most certainly destined to be in an an upcoming story. The writing is solid and the characters memorable.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was such a cute romance! It was predictable, but there were moments I didn't see coming, which I appreciated! Definitely 4.5 stars!
Kennedy is a professional matchmaker who takes on her most challenging client in the form of billionaire playboy, Zac Vincent. His company is threatening to dethrone him unless he's able to tone down his ways.
Kennedy is a no-nonsense, take-no-prisoner female character who I can appreciate. She definitely has her flaws, but I loved how she grows as a character into someone who can admit them. I also love a book where the main character has friends who help them see their own issues. Kennedy's friends, Monica and Lucey come to be her voices of reason which is so refreshing. I would have liked to see more interaction between Kennedy's and Zac's friends and more drama with her business (without giving spoilers).
The biggest thank you to Booksiren for an ARC of this book for a voluntary review!!!
“I want to know everything about what makes a man qualify as worth it for Kennedy. What makes a man bring a woman like Kennedy to her knees. What makes her want, and need, and beg. I want to be that man.”
When I tell you I devoured this book in one sitting. Eva Simmons, when she writes, she is drawing a picture in your mind and making you feel everything the character is feeling.
The couple in this book, all the tension and banter was chefs kiss. They both tried really hard not to fall for one another but couldn’t fight it!
Kennedy is so strong and independent in this book, she never bows to any man…until Zac comes along.
He’s used to women fall over his feet. Until Kennedy comes along and shows his what it truly means to meet his match.
And the girl gang in this book, Kennedy, Luce and Monica were so different but perfect for each other! I can’t wait to read their books!
This was a cute love story! I wasn’t overly frustrated by the characters—they are pretty compatible. There’s a little conflict but it keeps it interesting. The premise is maybe a little cliche but overall I thought the book was well written. If you want something steamy—this book has it! I received and arc for my honest review. I’ll be on the lookout for more by this author!
I really liked this book, but it took me longer to finish than usual!! It might just be my attention span, though😬 I love Zac and Kennedy’s dynamic! And Kenz is just a boss all around, I love her so much!
Who doesn’t love a grumpy billionaire womanizing bachelor and a strong independent woman to put him in his place. I LOVE Kennedy and I adored the MC’s dynamic. This was such a sweet book with a perfect HEA 💖
As a fan of Eva's current works, I've been wanting to check out her debut series and boy did Match Make him, originally titled Miss Matched put a smile on my face! I loved Kennedy and Zac so much! I loved the journey to their HEA. The flirting, the banter, the tension between these two, all of it was *chef's kiss*! One of the best things in this book was the girl gang ❤️! I love Kennedy, Monica and Luce so much! I'm so excited to read their stories next! Definitely another amazing Eva Simmons book!
I received this book as an arc. I really enjoyed it didn't think I was gonna like it that much can't wait to continue the series. And I really enjoy the author's writing
The CEO trying to make his board happy is so overdone - read on KU
I really like Kennedy and Zac. I like their friends. I like Kennedy's job and the aspects of the dating service. However, I am so over reading about CEOs who built companies and handed over control to boards and stockholders and are fighting to keep that control. I love fake relationship and even people who are looking for relationships to make someone else in their lives happy type tropes but I'm so tired of this one aspect. So the parts of Zac's work problems drove me bonkers.
I also didn't enjoy girl time with Kennedy and her friends. I skimmed through all of that. There seemed to be a lot in the book that didn't move the story along. I would have liked to have seen more messups from her clients or things lokw that. Those could have been entertaining.
The only grammatical errors I noticed were related to using the pronoun "I" as an object. That doesn't change even when there is a second person as an object. No one ever says "he gave that book to I" but people frequently make the error "he gave that book to Sam and I." And that's the mistake this author makes multiple times in multiple books.
I do like this author. I think she writes well. The stories usually have a good flow. The characters are reasonably well done. But I didn't like this story. Although, the last 30% or so was better.
I loved Eva Simmons’s rockstar romance series Enemy Muse from this year and decided I’m going to read her Seattle Singles Trilogy she wrote last year. I’m already hooked on this trilogy after finishing the first book, Miss Matched.
I loved Kennedy and Zac’s romance story form, even if it was technically forbidden since Zac is supposed to be her client. Both characters tried to play it as if they were not into each other. Zac went on the dates that Kennedy planned for him, and Kennedy tried to deny she was falling for the bad-boy billionaire once she got to know the real him. I love these love stories where they try not to give in to those feelings, but eventually, it’s inevitable, and they finally give in to it. It makes it even better when the family and friends call the characters out on the obvious connections between the two. Now, there is drama in the story, where a break-up scene happens, but don’t worry because there is a grovel scene that makes up for that break-up.
Eva Simmons is one author who breaks your heart with what the characters endure, but she mends it with the sweetest, heart-wrenching happily ever afters. I love every book Eva Simmons has written that I’ve read so far, and I can’t help but fall for the characters she writes and their HEAs. I can’t wait to read Kennedy’s friends Monica and Luce’s stories next since they were introduced in this book. They played a significant role in Kennedy and Zac’s happiness, and I loved what they did for Kennedy. =)
This is the second book of Eva Simmons’ that I’ve read, and wanted to give this title a shot before it was taken off of KU.
This book had a great premise - the FMC, Kennedy, is a highly intelligent, independent, spitfire matchmaker who meets a swoon-worthy, playboy CEO billionaire…so what’s the problem? The MMC, Zander, is supposed to be a client.
This was “just okay,” for me due to a trope I don’t necessarily love: miscommunication. My biggest issue was the fact that both MC’s are known as smart, strong bosses who have overcome hardships to make a name for themselves, yet, they lack the ability to have an honest conversation processing their feelings. Assumptions are made on both ends, self-deprecating thoughts run amok, one-sided conversations where the other person isn’t given a choice in a matter….all boiling down to the simple fact that the “conflict” of the book could have been avoided with a simple, open conversation about feelings and intentions.
All in all, this was an okay read where love does find a way to break down walls and lead to a HEA.
Kennedy James is a matchmaker who is wrangling one of her clients when she meets Zac Vincent. Zac has issues with his board so he decides to hire Kennedy to find him a wife. They have an instant attraction but can’t act on it because Zac is a client. Kennedy didn’t have a good childhood and feels like everyone she loves leaves. Zac is close with his father but is afraid of love because of his parents’ marriage. They are a good match but it takes some time before they figure that out. I loved their slow burn storyline. I loved Kennedy’s friends, Monica and Luce. They are hilarious. Kennedy and Zac face struggles with their companies. You need to read the book to see if they get past them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Miss Matched is the first book I have read by Eva Simmons and it definitely won't be the last. This story follows Kennedy who has a match making business and Zac who is a CEO billionaire. Kennedy meets Zac in a bar where she is holding a meet and greet event in one of the function rooms. I love the chemistry between them from the start and was rooting for them. Kennedys 's relationship with her friends is also well written. Zac ends up going to Kennedy 's company as he has had enough of his playing lifestyle. The novel is well written with a very good story line and just enough smut to not over do it. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to get started on the next book in the series and read more of Eva's work.
After reading another book from Eva's that I really enjoyed, I got curious to read more of her stories so I decided to start this series. What an amazing surprise this was!
This story was really good because it had it all: it was fun and cute but it also had some things to think about.
Kennedy and Zac were perfect (quite literally 👀) for each other and I really enjoyed the development of their relationship.
This was an amazing introduction to this series and now I'm even more curious and excited to pick more of Eva's books in the future.
I liked this book it was a very quick easy read. A little predictable storyline wise however. I thought maybe there was going to be something a bit more gritty happening the way the character of Samson was set up but it kind of fell flat. The sexual chemistry and tension that was built up between Zac and Kennedy was great, I’m happy it took half the book before something happened, but those looking for spice there’s only a couple of scenes of it in this book. I loved the dynamic of Kennedy’s best friends as secondary characters, glad that they were a driving force for the story’s conclusion.
I couldn’t help but be annoyed by the amount of typos in this book. They were really distracting at times. But the story itself was pretty cute. Kennedy’s friends were a lot of fun. It would’ve been nice to see more of Zac’s friends or even a little more of his dad & him interact. I do have to say that I was really disappointed by his behavior and cruelty in the hospital and his grand gesture was nice, I guess, but I don’t know. It took me a while to even start to consider to forgive his behavior on Kennedy’s behalf. He was just SO awful to her!
Kennedy is the perfect girl boss with spunk and sweetness. I loved her love of love and wanting to make others happy. I also appreciated how she was portrayed as a realistic woman who runs her own company. Even though she meets her match she still puts work as a priority.
Zac was a typical CEO billionaire playboy but his relationship with his dad and focus to do work in the community made him the perfect cinnamon roll!
Overall the dynamic of these two was spicy with the perfect mix of angst and sweetness. I loved the relationships they had with those who mattered in their lives. I am moving on to book 2 ASAP!!
So I didnt finish. I read to 58% and that was after I kept saying if I don’t feel it in the next chapter stop and that was for a couple of chapters, I tried because Zak he is major book boyfriend. But Kennedy harps too much on being unlovable, not being wife or mom material, loving him but setting him up. And I understand hard life growing up but it’s all the book talks about. Nothing kind of flowed. Sooo it just wasn’t for me.
Mmmmm it was my first time reading from this author I bought this book from SYKD. I gave this book a 🌟🌟🌟because even tho I love the slow burn I wanted a bit more of an action pack drama with the slow burn. So personally for me there wasn’t much of that and to be fare they are business owners. It was a 50/50 chance! lol
ALTHOUGH the book is cute, if your looking for quick read no heart break so HEA this is it!
