Fight the Good Fight Strong and Courageous So Fight I Gates of Hell Keep the Faith Run the Gauntlet Finish the Fight
Marathon Man Military and religious space Opera God is Everywhere. Overly long and tedious book of how even a very religious Jew can be a general and fight for the Coalition. In this novel all religions from earth🌏 come together to fight injustice in space. I got this e-book from amazon with kindle unlimited.
This book is a seven-book military science fiction saga. Set in a distant future where the Terran Coalition clashes with the oppressive League of Sol, the series centers on Colonel David Cohen—a former rabbinical student who becomes a starship commander—grappling with both the demands of interstellar warfare and his own inner turmoil. The narrative is rich with space battles and strategic warfare. However, the series has a strong religious theme, which I personally do not like and perhaps because of this the series did not get my full attention. I previously read another series set in the same universe with the same characters, which takes place after the war has ended—and I found it significantly better than this one.
I have been a fan of Daniel Gibbs since this series debuted in 2019. His characters are profoundly human - compassionate, strong, decisive despite struggling with real human concerns and flaws. His created universe is broad, multilayered and consistent. The situations and dilemmas that his characters deal with ring true to readers of military fiction (science fiction, thrillers, mysteries…) or 20th century history (like the history of World War II). When I pick up his books, I fall right into the story, resurfacing when the book ends. Fans of David Weber and Glynn Stewart, take note - the new competition from Daniel Gibbs is Fierce!
An interesting look into religion and belief in the throes of space combat and death on an individual basis. Following David Cohen on his journey to understanding and his evolution to 5becoming a leader of men will keep you on the edge of your seat. Visions of exploding ships and pitched battles in the dark of space will haunt your sleep and change the way you know religion. Take a chance, step on the ramp and move into a world of might be. It's a great ride.
So yes, I truly believe that this is one of the best book series I have ever read. The galaxy and civilizations are fit together so well and it shows both an.idealistic government with acceptance of everyone, no matter your beliefs go against an enemy about unity of the whole, threatening people with individualism. It is a fantastic read and highly suggest it for anyone who enjoys science fiction, politics, religion, and combat on a massive scale!
Exceptional with reality checks, one that have me pause with the deeper thoughts when in battle.
Really an amazing story of real people with a consciousness, trying process the loss of thousands of men and women on both sides of the battles. Yet maintaining their humanity. A story that resonates in life on our very on world. Amazing job Daniel Gibbs. Thank You!
Daniel, Another great story. I like the way you include so much religion in your stories. I have not found any other author who does this. Being veteran myself, I can relate to the difficulties of soldiers dealing with the loss of close friends and PTSD issues.A very good story.
Enjoyed the action scenes. Thought religious theme overdone. Did not understand rationale of making main character so conflicted with his faith- even after experiencing a supposed visit from G-D. Repetition of explanation with repeated minor actions does get boring at times.
Action packed but also full characters thoughout ,so not just a shoot them up sci Fi . Don't get bogged down by the light religious influence it does add depth to some of the characters
I liked the action and most of the story. I could have done with out all religious stuff. I don’t know who I would recommend this book to. I gave it three stars for other content.
