This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review. I thought this book was cute for the most part, but some things annoyed me a bit. The premise is that Luca finds out his ex-girlfriend doesn’t have a date for the prom and is going to sell her tickets. He doesn’t want her to miss out so he convinces her to let him take her and they spend the day together trying to buy everything and get ready before the prom that night. During this process he realizes he still has feelings for her and wants to get back together. This is all cute, but then there are times throughout the book after he realizes his feelings that he comments on how hot another girl is and even kisses someone else. These details just didn’t serve the premise in my opinion and made Luca less likable.

A slice of life story following a teenage boy in 1990 on the day of prom. He has to make it to prom and balance winning back his ex and his loyalty to his best friend.

It was cute and Luca spends the time realising the mistake he made and making up for it.

Promposal by RH Bird has Luca Esposito doing two of the most impossible things today. They are convincing his ex to let him take her to prom and get her to be his girlfriend again.

Can Luca do the impossible?

Luca Esposito
Luca Esposito is a sixteen-year-old male who learns at the start of the school day that his ex girlfriend, of ten months, is selling her prom tickets. It is also the day of the prom. After talking to his friend, he decides to try to get her to reconsider by asking her. I have to say that Luca is definitely one of those guys who doesn't think about the consequences of his actions until he tries to do something nice for the person he hurt. The other thing is that I wouldn't say I liked his whole reasoning for going to the prom with his ex.

Piper Kraft
Piper Kraft is a senior at their school and is trying to sell her prom tickets since she doesn't have anyone to go with her. Not only that, but she just doesn't feel like going. Piper was trying to avoid Luca throughout the school day until their final class of the day. I didn't get Piper's attitude toward Luca throughout the book, even after learning how they broke up and why she accepted his prom invitation.

Three Stars
Promposal by RH Bird is set in a 1990 small town in New York. Mr. Bird has the reader follow Luca through his day of trying to convince Piper to go to Prom and then to Prom. My rating for Promposal by RH Bird is three stars. The book just wasn't what I was expecting from the plot summary.

Also, I wouldn't say I liked that the cover had nothing to do with the story.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Promposal by RH Bird.

Until the next time,

Promposal

by R.H. Bird

Rating:5/5

Review:

👉This book captures the whirlwind emotions of high school romance and the desperate urgency of a last-minute promposal. Sixteen-year-old Luca Esposito is in detention yet again when his friend Nathan reveals a surprising piece of news: Piper Kraft, Luca's ex-girlfriend, is selling her prom tickets. Although they broke up ten months ago, Luca hasn't been able to get Piper out of his mind. This revelation sparks hope in Luca's heart. Could this be his chance to win her back? There are just two major hurdles: Piper despises him, and there are only twelve hours until prom. With the clock ticking, Luca must orchestrate an unforgettable promposal to recapture Piper’s heart.

👉R.H. Bird crafts a compelling and endearing story that hooks readers from the very beginning. Luca's journey is filled with the relatable angst and excitement of teenage life, making him a character that many will root for. The narrative, while maintaining a sense of innocence, delves into deeper themes of forgiveness, personal growth, and redemption. The charm of this book lies in its ability to evoke nostalgia for high school days and the quintessential prom experience.

👉Bird's writing is vivid and cinematic, reminiscent of a fun Netflix rom-com. The story alternates between the present and flashbacks, giving depth to Luca and Piper's relationship and providing context to their breakup. This structure enriches the reading experience, making the characters' emotions and motivations more palpable and real.

👉"Promposal" is not only a delightful read for female readers but also appeals to young men who can relate to Luca's quest for redemption and recognition. It’s a quick, enjoyable read that balances humor, drama, and romance, making it perfect for anyone looking to relive the highs and lows of teenage love.

👉Long after you flip the last page, this unique youthful romance will stay with you. The sequel promises to continue Luca and Piper’s journey, and I’m eagerly anticipating where Bird will take their story next. "Promposal" is a fun, fast-paced, and heartwarming read that leaves you with a smile on your face .

1990: While sixteen-year-old Luca Esposito is in detention, he finds out that his ex-girlfriend, Piper, is selling her prom tickets because she didn’t have a date. Even though he broke up with her months ago, he can’t stop thinking about her. Then, his friend gets into a fight that is threatened to continue after prom. His friend wants Luca there to help him out. Luca tries to get Piper to accept his invitation to prom, and then figure out how to get them ready for the big night.

This was a cute YA rom com, which was told from the perspective of the male main character. It wasn’t really clear from the beginning that the story was set in 1990, but from the lack of cell phones, I suspected it wasn’t set in recent years. The characters felt like real teenagers in the way that they had no filter with what they said at times.

Promposal is a fun prom-themed rom com!

Fast-paced YA Prom Capstone Marks the End of High School
This is a sweet second-chance romance YA story that takes place in 1990. The main character, Luca, is a high school wrestler whose loyalty lies with his best friend Pablo as a confrontation brews with the football team. Add his ex-girlfriend, Piper, into the mix, and you’ve got one unpredictable prom night to look forward to. I found Luca funny and endearing. It’s also a humorous look into the mind of a sixteen-year-old boy who tries to make sense of teen girls. The 90s cultural references were fun-- a nice change before everyone became glued to their cell phones. While the characters aren’t naive, there’s still an innocence underlying the story. Everyone is on the cusp of adulthood and wants to enjoy one last go at prom. In that sense, it has the feel of Footloose. I smiled often while reading this book and highly recommend it!

The Blurb :
Sixteen-year-old Luca Esposito is in detention again. “Guess who’s selling her prom tickets?” Nathan asked with a goofy grin. “It’s Piper Kraft. Your ex.” Luca’s heart stopped. They broke up ten months ago, but he can’t get Piper out of his mind. Could this be his chance to win her back? Just two she hates him, and there are only twelve hours to prom. The clock is ticking. Can he pull off the world’s most amazing Promposal and recapture the girl he loves?

My Thoughts :
We meet 16 year old Luca Esposito, who still in high school and having fun with his friends.
Luca dumped his girlfriend Piper Kraft a year ago and they havent spoken since. When Luca hears that Piper is selling her Prom tickets, he is egged on by his friends to ask her to go with him even though they were no longer together. He feels guilty that Piper will miss her Prom.
This then starts off a mission on Luca’s part to embarras himself and get Piper to agree. Costing himself money and fights in the process can Luca win back Piper even if its just for 1 night!?.
Promposal is told from Luca’s POV as he trys to win Piper back, conplete with the back story of how they first met, this story is full of 90s nostalgia, with all the feels, surroundings and descriptions of the 90s. It was nice to revisit a time where there was no mobile phones.
This is an ideal quick read of teen romance that is a refreshing change to my normal genres and will have you smiling throughout.
Looking forward to the Sequel.

R.H. Bird's debut novel, Promposal, is one of those rare books that you just can't put down. Bird takes us on a journey into sixteen-year-old Luca's mind -- you feel his excitement and nervousness keenly as the clock ticks down to prom and he tries to convince his ex-girlfriend Piper to go with him. If you went to high school in the 90s, this book will evoke so many nostalgic sights, sounds, and moods, from the first line ("I loved the smell of detention in the morning--not really.") to the very last. This unique teen romance will stay with you long after you turn the final page. I can't wait to read more of Luca and Piper's story in the sequel to Promposal.

Promposal from RH Bird is a funny, fast-moving YA story set in 1990. It is laugh out loud funny as it tells the story of Luca, a young high school wrestler and the long, winding route to making the prom a perfect experience for his on-and-off again girfriend, Piper. Don’t let the cover fool you. This is a story that will appeal to young men who want to feel seen as much as it does female readers. The sequel is in the works, and can’t wait to read it.

I loved this book!! I liked the writing style and how the events of the book were all across one day! Would definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of young adult or is looking to get into the genre since it was such a quick and funny read. I think there could be a sequel based on the book's ending, and I hope we get to see more of these characters!

I’m not the best person to critique a YA contemporary teens love story, but the writing was so darn cute and funny and poignant, I couldn’t help want to know this young man’s journey to what can be a heartbreaking or wondrous night. Ah prom…

Thank you so much to the author and The Wild Rose Press for sharing a copy of this book with me on Bookinfluencers.com!!

“You can’t repeat the past.”

A romantic and enjoyable coming of age story about two adolescents falling in love with one another, then falling apart and then falling in love again … maybe!!
I really liked Luca and Piper’s story. The book is written from Luca’s perspective and somehow, feeling what he was feeling for her, his friends and how much he wanted to get her back, made me feel some butterflies in the stomach even though I am a full grown adult and they are teenagers. There is something so striking cute about two young people falling in love at getting to prom with their friends !! I simply have to admit that I liked this book more than I anticipated !!! I truly think it’s a romance perfect for everyone and their family. Luca is quite a young man and an interesting character. He is, after all, at his core, a boy who wants to get back the girl he has fallen in love with and has wronged. Second chance romance you ask? Yes, I would say so. But such a sweet and cute one that I will not bore you. I’m glad I had the opportunity to read it !!

“It’s better to appear stupid, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

“I tucked a strand of hair behind Piper’s ear. Wow, she had a stunning smile. I couldn’t hold mine back. She got up on her toes, and we kissed like it would never end.
Skyrockets burst into the spring night.”

Cute Disney-esque Highschool Romance

Quote:📖
In your own way Luca, you’re being gallant, riding in on a white horse. And it’s kind of sweet. But in another way, you’re a jackass. And I don’t need you to save me.

Thoughts: 💡
This was cute and filled with high school hijinks and dramatics. Luca was a very socially aware, snarky high school kid. He wasn’t mildly popular and the guy who was always getting into trouble, but not enough trouble to really mess up his life. However, he did mess up his relationship with the girl he cared for so he had to work to get her back. And honestly, I like that Piper made him work for it.
Ultimately, it was a really cute story with a bit of romance, shenanigans, and angst. There was some fighting and a few more risque discussions, but none of the characters did anything more than kiss. My favorite part of the whole book was the friendships between all the characters. There was just a strong high school musical vibe without the theater nerds and music.

When his friend Nathan reveals Piper is selling her prom tickets, Luca sees a fleeting chance to win her back. Readers will be gripped until the very end by this endearing and thrilling story that examines themes of adolescent love, redemption, and the desperate urgency of high school romance. Even if the characters aren’t gullible, the narrative nevertheless has an air of innocence.Long after you flip the last page, this unusual youthful romance will continue to resonate with you. As much as it will appeal to female readers, this novel will also appeal to young guys who want to be noticed. The Promisal sequel has me eager to learn more about Luca and Piper’s journey.

This is the story of sixteen-year-old Luca Esposito, who gets to know that his ex-girlfriend Piper Kraft is selling her Prom tickets. He gets to know this while in detention and there are buyers interested in those tickets. Luca and Piper broke up ten months ago and she hates him. But Luca doesn't want her to miss the prom, and wants to win her back. But there are problems. Firstly, the prom is just twelve hours away. Second, Piper hates Luca and avoids him at all costs. Luca must try to redeem himself, get on her good side again, and pull off the world's greatest promposal!

The young-adult book is a delight to read. It is absolutely fun and enjoyable, and gets us reminiscing about the school days. The story is super interesting, fast paced, with characters perfectly portrayed and the story just like a fun Netflix rom-com based on prom night. It was a pleasurable reading experience. Written from Luca's perspective and chapters taking us to flashback, where we see how he initially proposed Piper and the events that followed, the book is well-written and a quick fun read, that's enjoyable and parts of it are relatable.

I’m in my coffee and YA romance era ☕️💕

This one was based in 1990 and 16 year old Luca find out his ex girlfriend is selling her prom tickets. He knows this was the night of her dreams and must work to get her to say yes to him and make the whole prom a dream come true. But Luca isn’t her favourite person anymore, and prom is that night he finds out. Will he be able to make it possible?✨

This one was quick and easy; though it’s 211pgs it felt like a novella and was easy and enjoyable to finish in 24 hours! It reminded me of cute Disney movie and literally could see if being made into one.
