Duidelijk en interssant. Zeker een aanrader als instapboek over de geschiedenis van Koloniaal Congo. Niet elk aspect wordt even uitgebreid belicht, maar zo krijg je zelf wel al een idee waar je uitgebreider over wil lezen.
Persoonlijk vond ik het jammer dat ik het voor school moest lezen waardoor ik de hele het examen in mijn achterhoofd hield... Tip voor andere KUL studenten die dit moeten lezen voor History of European Colonization: 1 Probeer dit niet te lang te laten liggen. 2 Lees de Engelstalige versie want die is minder lang als de Nederlandstalige en zeer verstaanbaar. :) Succes!

Quite an objective and comprehensive overview of the colonial period of the Congo. A few chapters and guest authors break this trend of objective neutrality, though, which is a shame. Overall a very decent book, but due to the variable quality and readability of the various authors it's sometimes hard to get through certain chapters without questioning the motives of the author or the suitability of the author to write a popular book.

The book is okay. I had to read it for a course given by one of the authors. It's nicely structured and the summary of acronyms at the back is a welcome addition. If you are curious about the colonial history of Congo, this book is most likely a good read.
