You know you're in trouble when an undead movie star asks you for a small favour.
Seeing ghosts is just something I’ve learnt to live with. They’re everywhere I go, especially since I chose to study history at the Sorbonne, one of the oldest universities in the world. While on a class trip to the Pantheon, where France’s great men—and women!—reside, I get introduced to the fabulous Josephine Baker! One of her war medals has gone missing, and she wants me to find its whereabouts.
Who could say no to a flapper girl turned movie star turned war hero? Little do I know agreeing to do so will send me on a wild-goose chase across the country with a ghostly pet cheetah, hidden walkways, and a murder attempt.
The Prequel to the adventurous Parisian Ghost Series. Continue Alix's adventures with book 1: Ghosts of the Catacombs.
this short story of Parisian Ghosts was very entertaining and fun.
alix can see ghosts and speak to them with that she wasn't ashamed of her gift she was just frustrated how people reacted to it, especially when they couldn't see ghosts .
Gabby is such a great best friend and didn't make her feel like she crazy. Whether she believed it or not, it didn't change how she felt about alix.
it would be so cool in a way to see ghosts and speak to them .
In short intro novel featuring Alix, a ghost whisper with a cute hedgehog as a pet and her best friend Gaby's first adventure on a detective mission for a ghost. This was a fun relaxing afternoon read. I assume more info re her ability will be revealed in the coming series. I received a complimentary copy from the author and leave this review voluntary Thank you
History-enthusiast, Alix, would rather find stories of forgotten lore than search for missing items for the dead, yet here we are. And getting walloped in the process is poor payment for her troubles. Still, if curiosity doesn't kill the cat, cheetah, or girl, it might just bring about the ghost of an amazing adventure! Which is exactly what this prequel has accomplished. Janna Ruth has captured the spirit of a truly fun and cozy mystery. I'm looking forward to more!
Also, a hedgehog?
Who wouldn't want to befriend the cutest of all sidekicks? Malou has pricked my interest and my heart!
Parisian Ghosts by Janna Ruth is a well written prequel of a series by the same name. You know it will be good when the opening line of the blurb is 'You know you're in trouble when an undead movie star asks you for a favour
This was a really good prequel short book for the Parisian Ghosts series which I will be continuing on with! The way the author writes sucked me right into the story along with the adventure! And the friendship between Alix and Gaby is so fun!
I am very glad that I stumbled upon this author today. I picked up book one and it had a link to Parisian Ghost book 0.5. I read it in one sitting and loved it. Alix is really a level headed girl who happens to see ghosts. Her best friend Gaby doesn't believe at first but is quickly shown the truth. I am going to be reading everything this author writes.
Imagine being able to revisit Josephine Baker's ghost in Paris. Jenna Ruth carries you along the paranormal in France. Looking forward to reading the series
I've been meaning to read this series for ages and this short novella was a great, quick, fun read into what I am hoping will be a great series. Alix is a ghost whisperer studying in Paris where the catacombs are full of ghosts. No one else believes she can see them, but when she agrees to help the ghosts of Josephine Baker and Victor Hugo with a favour, her best friend, Gaby, comes along for the ride.
They head to the museum dedicated to Josephine and begin the hunt for her missing medals. Not an easy task when there doesn't seem to be any other ghosts around to ask, until, that is, the ghost of Josephine's pet cheetah makes her appearance and leads the way!
This was a fun book, with enough excitement to whet my appetite for more! I think Alix and Gaby will make a great team even if Gaby can't see the ghosts herself (well not yet anyway!)
Alix, the heroine can see ghosts, which is both annoying, and helpful, since she's a university student studying history.
It's annoying because they seek her help, but helpful when she needs an insight into something direct from the person who did it!
Anyway, this prequel sees Alix, her besty Gaby, and cute pet hedgehog Malou on an adventure to help Josephine Baker. I won't give away more, but it's a fun romp!
This is a novella, just an intro to the new world which promises to be an interesting ride! Can't wait to see what happens next in the dark depths of the Parisian catacombs!
This is a prequel to the Parisian Ghosts series that is basically used to set up introducing Alix and her best friend Gaby. Alix is a history student who can see and talk to ghosts. One day while at the Pantheon in Paris she meets the ghost of Josephine Baker who enlists Alix's help to find some missing war medals from Baker’s museum.
This was a good introduction to a new series. Sets up an easy premise, a ghost whisperer, her best friends and ghosts in Paris. I am excited for the new series and cannot wait to read it.
I liked the concept that ghosts are solid and can interact with ghost whisperers. This was a very short intro to the concept and the characters but I enjoyed it and like Janna Ruth’s writing. There was some Bill and Ted energy as well. I am looking forward to the full length book.
This compelling prequel to the Parisian Ghosts series introduces us to Alix and her ability to see, communicate with, and even physically interact with ghosts. The story is complete on its own, but the taste of meeting famous historical ghosts and solving a mystery has me excited for the next installment in her story!
I enjoyed this book. An exciting adventure with a history student named Alix, her friend Gabby and some famous French ghosts. A bit of history and a touch of mystery add up to an enjoyable story.
What a fun little beginning to the series! I liked the friendship between Alix and Gaby, and especially Alix’s pet hedgehog Malou. I’m excited to see more of the ghosts of France in the next one.
Stuff Your EReader Find! I love it when authors partake in Stuff Your Ereader Events because I would have never found this prequel that would make me want to start a series so desperately. This was a quick book, but gave such a perfect taste that it lead me wanting more. Not to mention that the lead let's her nerdy side shine instead of falling to boy crazy.
A bit on the cheesy/cozy side, an enjoyable ghost story. Requires suspension of belief (even for those who believe in spirits and ghosts) and a tolerance for misspellings and other grammatical errors that I am positive were not intentional.
What a great start to a series, it hooks you in right from the get go with ghosts, great characters and cute pets. And some lovely locations. I look forward to the next installment.
