We read this at the library about a month ago and it has been coming up in conversations ever since, so we went back to check it out for some rereads. A very sweet story in which parents gently support their child through change, but the illustrations are the main event!

Perfekt für den Herbst


Lucy Fleming hat mit "Mina und der Trau Dich Zauber" ein Buch kreiert, das nicht nur zuckersüß illustriert und gestaltet ist, sondern auch noch eine tolle Message beinhaltet.

Mina ist ein kleines Blattmädchen, das mit ihren Eltern auf einem Baum lebt und das Leben mit ihren Tierfreunden genießt. Doch langsam wird es Herbst und die Natur verändert sich. Auch Minas Eltern wollen langsam aufbrechen. Aber Mina ist noch nicht bereit. Sie möchte doch, dass alles so bleibt, wie es ist.

Mir hat das Buch richtig gut gefallen. Mina lernt, dass Veränderungen völlig normal sind und zum Leben dazugehören und, dass nicht die äußeren Umstände wichtig sind, sondern, dass wir unsere Familie (und Freunde) haben.

Die Illustrationen sind dazu noch sehr schön und mir gefallen auch sehr gut die funkelnden Elemente auf dem Buchcover.

Eine tolle Geschichte und daher eine klare Empfehlung.

While kids who like fairies will engage with the littlest oak leaf'f clinging to her tree way past her time to leave, the story was a bit twee for me, with a message that landed a little hard. Delightfully illustrated by the author.

As the seasons cool, her family must nestle into their winter acorn homes, but Oak doesn’t like change. Papa Oak helps her to see that they must know when it’s time to leave the nest, to follow what will nourish them and allow them to grow.

Mut-Mach-Buch!

Mina und der Trau-dich-Zauber. Ein unfassbar niedliches Buch. Allein das Cover verspricht schon eine niedliche Geschichte und so geht es im Inneren weiter. Man lernt Mina kennen, dass die ein kleines Blattmädchen ist und am liebsten mit ihrem Freund dem Eichhörnchen spielt.
Das Buch ist unfassbar herzerwärmend illustriert und ich habe mich beim Durchblättern ein bisschen in die Art und Weise verliebt, wie hier mit Bildern eine Geschichte erzählt wird. In meinen Augen eine wirklich gelungene Geschichte für kleine und vielleicht auch größere Kinder. Mit dieser Geschichte gibt Lucy Fleming Kindern eine wichtige Botschaft mit auf den Weg, an deren Verstehen noch manch Erwachsener zu knabbern hat.
Jeder braucht seine Zeit, um Veränderungen zuzulassen, und nur weil es unbekannt ist, ist es noch lange nichts Schlechtes. Mir hat das kurze, dafür wirklich goldige Kinderbuch wirklich gefallen.

Fazit:
Ein wundervoll illustriertes Buch, das kleinen Kindern schon früh eine wichtige Botschaft mit auf den Weg gibt. Und auch Erwachsene werden beim Durchblättern ihre Freude haben.

Dúbravienka je drobná bytosť žijúca medzi stromami, čas trávi s lesnými priateľmi a svoj malý farebný svet by nevymenila za nič na svete - nuž a v tom tkvie celý problém. Jedného dňa pestré farby zhnednú, na les padne hustá hmla a zvieratká i rodina malej Dúbravienky vedia, že je čas opustiť domček v strome a ukryť sa v bezpečí húštiny.
Dúbravienka však odmieta odísť a rozhodne sa prečkať chlad v objatí milovaného stromu, ktorý sa však časom stane nebezpečným.

Napriek kratučkému rozsahu a vekovému odporúčaniu 3+ má príbeh Dúbravienky krásny odkaz a pointu akú dnes ťažko nájsť aj v rozsiahlom románe pre dospelých. Mne osobne knižka veľmi zarezonovala, bola ako dúšok teplého čaju a zároveň predzvesťou jesene. Predstavujem si s ňou ukončiť deň strávený vonku v hromade lístia. Navyše, samotná predstava drobnej Dúbravienky ukrytej niekde v korune stromu rozhodne nadchne nejedno detské srdiečko. Myslím, že si ju zamilujú rovnako ako ja. ♥

Oak is a happy-go-lucky little leaf girl who lives with her parents in an old oak tree.  She loves playing with squirrels and having tea parties with ladybugs, leaping from branch to branch all summer long.  When the air grows colder, and her friends are too tired to play or have left the tree all together, Oak’s parents tell her it’s time to drift down to their acorn house on the ground.  Having never known another home, Oak refuses to leave the tree; before he departs, Papa reassures her that she will know when it’s “the right moment to leap.”  As winter sets in, Oak stubbornly clings to her branch but starts to feel lonely. She notices the warm glow from her family home below, and realizes that it wasn’t the tree itself that had filled her summer days with fun and joy, and soon finds herself in her parents’ warm embrace inside the cozy acorn house.

This gentle and sweet venture into the fairy realm will appeal to many young readers.  The lyrical text includes vivid descriptive language and rich vocabulary words like ‘burrow’ and ‘nourish,’ and reinforces universal themes of fear of the unknown and resistance to change. The earth-toned digital illustrations, replete with woodland creatures and seasonal flora, beautifully enhance the story with such charming details.  Readers will be particularly drawn to the decor of Oak’s two homes - the leafy hammocks with spiderweb canopies, mushroom end tables, and firefly nightlights are sure to spark imagination and encourage multiple readings. This cover has beautiful, reddish foil details which I love. "If you look closely, you might just spot a tiny little leaf girl" Fleming writes on the first page after describing a tree. "And even though she's the smallest, she laughs the loudest and grins the widest, and everywhere she looks, she sees fun." However, when a "strange chill" arrives one day, the little leaf girl's mom says, "The slow season is almost here," with a sigh. "Soon it will be time to leave the tree," explains Papa Oak. The littlest leaf girl's "thoughts wouldn't rest" that night when she tries to sleep because she is afraid of the unknown. When the time comes for the family to leave, the papa looks especially sad. "All leaves must nestle into their winter acorn homes," explains Mama Oak with a hug and the reassurance that they will come back next spring. When the littlest leaf girl goes to play with her friend Squirrel, he tells her, "It's time for the long winter sleep." Still, the girl refuses to leave the tree and her papa says, "I trust you to go at your own pace and find the right moment to leap." Her parents leave her behind, which I thought was wild! Eventually, she realizes that she is lonely and that family is actually what "filled her days with happiness" so she floats down from the tree. She is greeted with a warm cuddle and talks with her parents about change being hard and bravery. Their winter home seems awfully inviting if you ask me. I like the lesson of the story but I'm not entirely sold on the story itself. I think I might have liked the book better if the family members were actually leaves.

Trau dich, Mina!

Dieses Buch hat mich absolut verzaubert!
Als ich "Mina und der Trau-dich-Zauber" das erste Mal aufgeschlagen habe, hätte ich nie im Leben mit dieser Geschichte gerechnet. Und vor allem nicht damit, wie wundervoll und herzerwärmend es wird!
Das fängt schon ganz oberflächlich bei den Illustrationen an, die absolut verzaubern. Sie ergänzen die Geschichte perfekt. Die Farbschemata spiegeln die Handlung wieder und die Bilder verdeutlichen auch für Nicht-Leser wunderbar alle Ereignisse und Gefühle von Mina.
Doch nicht nur die Illustrationen sind bei mir direkt ins Herz gegangen. Das ging schon damit los, wie Minas Eltern mit der Situation umgegangen sind. Anstatt ihr Druck zu machen und sich zu etwas zu drängen, wofür sie (noch) nicht bereit ist, wurde ihr ihr eigenes Tempo zugestanden. Wie toll! Und dann die Botschaft und Bildhaftigkeit am Ende, was Mina glücklich macht und dass die Familie ein Ort ist, der einen bei solchen mutigen Schritten unterstützt und (hier im Buch ihm wahrsten Sinne des Wortes) auffängt, hat mich schlussendlich vollkommen vom Buch überzeugt. Wie dann abschließend über Veränderungen und warum sie uns so schwerfallen können gesprochen wurde, hat das Ganze einfach rund gemacht.

Wunderschön gemaltes Buch über Mut und Wachstum

„Mina und der Trau-dich-Zauber“ ist ein wunderschönes Kinderbuch für Kinder ab 4 Jahren. Was einem als Erstes auffällt, sind natürlich die bezaubernden Illustrationen. Das Buch ist wirklich detailreich und liebevoll gezeichnet, erinnert an alte Naturzeichnungen und fühlt sich manchmal wie ein Wimmelbuch an. 

Die Geschichte ist einfach zu verstehen. Mina ist ein kleines Blattmädchen und lebt in einer alten Eiche. Als die Kälte kommt, ziehen sich ihre Eltern ins Winterquartier. Doch Mina traut sich nicht, ihren Eltern zu folgen und bleibt ganz alleine im Baum. Mina muss also lernen, über sich hinaus zu wachsen und mit den Änderungen umzugehen. 

Als Elternteil hat mir aber weniger gefallen, dass die Eltern in der Geschichte so abwesend waren. Mina muss ganz alleine, ohne Unterstützung von ihren Eltern, ihren Mut finden. Für mein Kind, das gar nicht mag, alleine zu sein, ist die dargestellte Situation unnötig stressig.

Kauniisti kuvitettu ja mukava satu. Muuten olisi 3-4 tähden arvoinen, mutta olen eri mieltä tarinan arvoista/moraalista.

"Taija tajusi, että hänen elämäänsä eivät tuoneet onnea puut, oksat eikä aurinko... Onnea olivat yhteiset hetket perheen kanssa."
Kyllä puut, oksat ja aurinko tuovat onnea elämään.

Tarinan teemana on, että joskus on pakko lähteä uusiin seikkailuihin (esimerkiksi muuttaa uuteen kotiin), mutta uusiin seikkailuihin lähteminen ei tarkoita sitä, että aiempi paikka ja siinä kootut muistot olisivat muuttuneet huonoiksi. Lähtemisessä saa olla mukana haikeutta ja joskus joutuu myös siirtymään huonompaan. Pidin siitä, että tässä lapsi nimenomaan tahtoisi kaiken jatkuvan entisellään eikä ollut menossa ensimmäisenä eteenpäin kuten monissa kirjoissa.

Hyvä teos, koin vain vähän ristiriitaisena.

Nuostabus pasakojimas apie gyvenimo pokyčius ir kaip kartais gali būti nelengva juos priimti, juose įsipatoginti ir atrasti, kad visgi net ir tai, ko bijom, ko nepažistam ir dėl ko jaudinamės, gali būti smagiau, įdomiau ir geriau, nei buvo galima pagalvoti.

Perskaičiusi pamaniau, kad šią istoriją būtų galima skaityti, kai artėja ar jau keliaujama per kažkokius pokyčius. Pavyzdžiui, atėjus laikui atsisakyti sauskelnių, prieš pradedant lankyti darželį, ruošiantis mokyklai ir kt.

Viena iš tų vaikiškų knygelių, kurias skaitant savo vaikams, ir pati turiu galimybę prisiminti reikšmingas mintis apie gyvenimą.

Titolo italiano: Flora - Minuscola bambina foglia.

La storia di una piccola bambina fogliolina che vive su una quercia.
La piccola Flora non ama i cambiamenti e teme l'arrivo dell'autunno: mentre tutto cambia intorno a lei, si ostina a rimanere attaccata al suo ramo.
Finchè capirà che "casa" significa stare con chi ami e solo allora si lascerà cadere verso l'ignoto e una nuova avventura.
Deliziosa la storia (che ricorda molto "Bandiera") e le illustrazioni sognanti e fiabesche.
Dai 5 anni in poi.

This is adorable! I love tiny Oak and her family who live high on the mighty oak tree. The story is great for young readers exploring the challenges and benefits of change. I enjoyed the nature focus and the themes of change, family, friends, and seasons. Many feelings and emotions are explored in the story, which will be great for little readers. The illustrations are wondrous! So much fun imagination! It makes me want to live in an oak tree and play with my buggy friends all day! Fun read.

There are two pages near the end that get way too preachy and could be entirely excised, made all the worse as they're preceded by a lovely perspective flip... rather soured my delight. "Show rather than tell" applies to Easy books too, dudes.

Trees do be hanging onto their leaves too long, though. I would've plucked Oak right out of that tree. 😂

This book is so beautiful and will come into my storytime rotation next fall. (Yeah I know it's a ways away.) What is amazing is that it is so much more than a story about the changing seasons. There is a deeper story about how we have to go into the unknown, that changes come whether we like it or not, but we can jump in, and embrace. Oak's character shows how many of us are--wanting to hang onto something until the last possible moment.

But if we do, we just might miss something.

Once, there was a little leaf girl who lived in an oak tree with her family. When it came time to let go of the tree and drift to the ground for winter, the littlest leaf girl found the change too hard and wanted to hold onto summer and friendships a little longer. But it turned out that family was the most important thing of all.

I love the art in this one. However, the plot didn't quite make sense to me.

Lucy Fleming doesn't disappoint in this super adorable picture book about a little leaf family and their adventures throughout the seasons. The illustrations are super magical and inviting. My kids and I loved delving into the Little Leaf family's world.

Táto knižka je krátka, ale stále je dokonalá pre rodinky, ktoré chcú čítať so svojimi deťmi. Hovorí o tom, aké ťažké môžu byť zmeny, ale napriek tomu nám môžu priniesť nové dobrodružstvá.

A tie ilustrácie sú nádherné! Celá atmosféra knižky je príjemná až jesenná a grafické spracovanie môžem jedine chváliť.
