I had higher hopes
I had such high hopes for this book. The first one started out intriguing and funny and it seemed to be moving in a good direction. I'm so very sad how it ended up. This is a full length book that had the plot expansion of a novella. Hardly anything of any true meaning happens until the end and then you're left on a cliffhanger.
Not to mention the FMC deserved a better personality considering what she is. I think this is where the book struggles where some other fantasy romances flourish and become so popular. The FMC is, frankly, unlikeable in this. She acts like a toddler. Pouting, crying constantly, whining, crossing her arms, tapping her foot, hollering, bouncing up and down because of something silly, asking a million questions, obsessed with glitter and unicorns and sparkles ....it's all too much.
Also, the fact that her whole power centers around the Big O is juvenile. The story had such strong potential and then that ridiculous trope enters the chat.
The author is not a bad writer. Don't misunderstand me. The book just missed the mark when it had the makings of being a really strong story. However, I will not miss all the times people turned their heads/necks back and forth, or someone's chin in grabbed between two fingers, or someone starts to ask a million questions, or someone snaps defiantly like a petulant child.
I'm glad I didn't DNF the book, but I'm not sure I'll read the last one. If you like girls who seem like children with men who act like their fathers but sleep with them...maybe you'll like this.
Book 1, though...go read it. It's great.
