ZENYA
A skeletal king saving me from faceless beings in another dimension is not the wildest part of my day. I follow the walking bone daddy into his fortress where I learn he is Nyxion, the God of Nightmares, and he has big plans for me. But am I strong enough to unite these gods and survive my own darkness?

NYXION
I implanted my brother's supernatural Eye in Zenya, turning her into my dream weaver and personal feast of fantasy. Through me, she will dream; through her, I will awaken. Her scarred soul belongs to me, and I will keep her on my throne of bones forever.

MORPHEUS

He stole my Eye. I will steal his voice. Once I take Nyxion's hyoid bone and implant it in Zenya, I declare war upon him while stealing her away to my Realm of Dreams. She is my dream come true. I'll battle all my brother's nightmares to keep her.

I received an ARC of this book and I so badly wanted to love it. I was new to this author but her fans seemed very devoted and I hoped to join them in their fascination with her writing. However, I found this book very disjointed and the writing style to be immature despite the very adult themes. I made it 30% in before I admitted to myself that I still had no idea what was happening or why, wasn’t connected at all to any of the characters, and was incredibly annoyed by the writing itself and repetitive words/phrases. If I never read the word ‘honeyed’ again, I’ll be quite thrilled. Obviously some people loved this book and love the author, so maybe I just have different standards and that’s totally okay. Art is subjective and this book and author simply are not for me.

I really love the cover of this one. This story takes place in the nightmare/dream world so they can pretty much imagine almost anything into being. Wasn’t so sure about Nyxion in the beginning but he redeemed himself by the end. Morpheus was also kinda dark but not as harsh as Nyxion, IMO. Hecate was a nice addition to their harem, I don’t swing that way but in that world I’m sure she could convince me a tiny bit lol. My fav character in this book though was Phantasos cause he’s quirky & has some funny moments with his alters. I also like how they all gave in to Ivy to make that realm good for her.

First and foremost I want to apologize for asking for an arc and not being able to read it.

Emily has such a large and loyal fan base and the plot sounded super promising but I’m afraid this one simply isn’t for me.

From the first page the writing felt disjointed and chaotic. It gave me a headache every time I picked it up so I’m afraid I’m not going to be able to read this.

DNF pretty early on.

I received an ARC of this book. My review is my own.

Snatched by the Sandman is a part of the Roars and Romance series but is a standalone.
This is a very dark romance that is full of triggers. PLEASE CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️

This book is very dark, so prepare. It is a beautiful book, the way that Emily tells this story is stunning. This was the 1st Emily Shore story that I have read, and it likey won't be the last.

Zenya the FMC has been through a very traumatic life, and how she overcomes and heals from her trauma is absolutely beautiful. This book will have you screaming and crying all the way through. The way Emily writes is very powerful.

Very very spicy book. The scenes are so well done, but again they can be quite dark. So please keep this in mind.
The way Emily writes these relationships is amazing.

Really enjoyed this book, although it did take me a bit longer to read than normal due to having to adjust to the writing style and such. Emily's writing is so poetic.

Would definitely recommend this book, but as previously said, check those TWs!!

***CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS BEFORE READING!!!***
Wow…I had to take a minute to just let this story marinate in my mind if you will, because it was that damn good. I’ve been getting into darker romance as of the past few months and when I saw a blurb for the ARC signup for this, I was intrigued and just went for it. The way Emily writes is beautiful and so poetic that it took me a little bit to get into her mind at first, but once I got past that ‘what am I reading’ bump, I was hooked to say the least. I, among others, was a bit confused in the beginning because she jumps into the story from the get go but she does such a great job fleshing out the why and the how behind not just Zenya but every character in the story in the middle and end.

Zenya going through the trials was a full circle moment for me in finally understand why she was in the hospital to begin with, and her entire past which BROKE MY HEART! But the spice, oh she was SPICY and I loved every minute of it. From the individual scenes, to the group scenes, I unlocked a genre I now love and an author I’m sure I won’t be able to get enough of.

Emily does a great job of not only building up this world, but coming so close to ripping your heart out and almost tearing it down. I’ll save what happens for you to read, but let’s just say I was close to tears near the end.

Also, the representation of so many different difficult topics - from sexual assault; to DID - was so beautifully handled and truly felt like a necessary part of the storytelling process for this book. Thank you Emily and team for giving me the opportunity to review this! Friends if you’re dark and deprived this is for you! RUN to kindle :-)

Emily Shore blew me away with this book! Full disclosure: I received an advanced copy of Snatched by the Sandman, and at first, I was left speechless. CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS! I'm not one that usually says that I've yet to come across anything that really triggered me, but this book has a LIST.

If you're like me and you were left completely underwhelmed by a lot of the popular 🌶🌶 books, READ THIS BOOK. Emily's style of writing is unique and totally unexpected. This is not a passive read. This book demands your full attention and will expand your vocabulary with its eloquence. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll rage, and you'll rejoice for the FMC and her harem. Your heart will race for multitudes of reasons, including the 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶. It's HAWT.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone who thinks "they don't make books spicy enough for me." Emily said,"BET." And she won.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and I can say it was an absolute banger (in more ways than one!).
Wow, what a plot. You feel everything the characters do as if you’re right there in the book with them. Everything is described in such great detail that you’ve no problem envisioning the realms.
It’s darker than dark and will definitely raise eyebrows and make you question what on earth you’re reading but I can promise you, you’ll enjoy it! In fact, you’ll love it and read it again!

Was this written by AI? Ugh.

Quote:
In the distance, a malevolent fortress looms like a dark guardian, its sinister iridescence pulsating against the blackened sky. Against the backdrop of this dark, fathomless landscape, and the ground seeming to shift with every passing moment, it’s the only potential hiding place. My bare feet sigh on the soft, gray moss, cloaked in cool mist before pain howls into my arches from a jagged rock cutting into the skin. Surrealism distorts my surroundings.

Emily Shore has created a dark hypnotic fever dream with Snatched by the Sandman. I came out the other end of it not knowing exactly what just happened. It was marvelous. MFC Zenya flits between nightmare and daydream. Caught in a war between two brothers, Nyxion and Morpheus, both want her and will use her mind, body, and soul as a battleground. Be warned this is a dark and gritty romancey with a swath of grimdark I highly suggest checking the TW for this one.

I love a dreamscape and Emily has created a fantastical one where anything can happen and is filled with amazing characters. Zenya was a strong character, who embraced the dark and shone in the light. She has a dual nature that embodies both sides of the coin. That fits perfectly with the brothers and makes for an interesting character, that drew me in. I liked her, a lot.

Reading Nyxion's chapters feels like I've delved into madness while Morpheus's is that soft landing. It's a story told in highs and lows. It's weird as heck and that I'm coming to understand, so very Emily. She has a unique way of telling a story and with this one, it's like she's trapped the essence of a dream world and put it on the page. It's a total mind...

In Snatched by the Sandman Emily has woven the fantastical with grimdark whimsy. The story has a fantastical backdrop. I love Em's world-building she paints a very vivid picture and worlds that I wouldn't mind visiting. It also gives a unique look at mental health with strong emotional moments woven in that left me in awe. I'm looking forward to what Emily writes next.

Snatch by the sandman is a wild ride indeed! As always you will absolutely need to check the trigger warnings before diving into this one.

I’ve had the privilege of seeing this story unfold from Vella to book and all its various formations. One thing I can tell you. While her writing style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, she has found her voice. And we love her devious mind for the stories she gives. Author Emily Shore, listens to her readers. She takes into account when things may be a bit muddy and adds clarification. Who else can really say that?

But I digress, onto the story of (technically) Zenya, Morpheus and Nyxion. But let’s be honest, I’m here for Nyxion, God of Nightmares. “Least I’m not a drama queen.” After let’s say a brotherly spat. Hectate enters the scene. Really a great addition to the story. Her banter and wit with Nyxion I throughly enjoyed. Nyx’s whole story… just did it for me.

Morpheus, God of Dreams and Nyxions brother. He was a breath of fresh air from his counter part. Buttttttt my loyalties lie with his brother and those skeletal fingers.

Zenya is a well written FMC, who has experienced a lot during her life. Through the story we discover her past, trauma and trauma responses. This may hit too close to home for some. But it’s beautifully written. Have a box a tissues handy. Beside ls the snot on my arm from ugly crying, I see my heart is sitting on my sleeve.

✨ARC Review - all thoughts and opinions are my own✨

This was a WILD ride. This was my first book by Emily and her style of writing took me a bit to get used to.

I enjoyed the way she describes the settings and characters in this book but I’ll admit I was a little confused about the plot line throughout the book. I wasn’t quite sure what was happening or how we got to certain points in the book as it seemed like the book started in the middle of the story. There was a lot of world building and backstory that we either didn’t get or it took to almost the end of the book to get.

Definitely check triggers for this book as it is VERY dark. I don’t have any triggers per se but there were a few things that I just felt weird about reading.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy and for the chance to read this book.

4.5 🌟
This was my first book by Emily. First & foremost, the writing is exceptional. Her poetic way in which the story was written was a bit out of my depth at first, but after about 20% through, it became much easier to absorb. By the 60% mark I didn't want to put it down! This story was so incredibly well-written. She gives incredible depth to the characters and creates a world that you never want to leave. The growth & redemption touched my heart in so many ways. Bravo, Emily!

ARC review

Check your triggers before reading! If you like a shopping list of triggers, then this is definitely the book for you! I may need an exorcism at this point! Did I question my sanity?? Yes, I absolutely did and I loved every minute of it.

I don’t think that there are enough words to explain how I feel about this book! It was my first book by Emily and let me tell you, I’m now a fan! God of Nightmares or God of Dreams…OR how about both!? The dream world that Emily created was absolutely fantastic, the imagery and the attention to detail, amazing. The FMC Zenya will forever be one of my favorites. Whether she was Zenya, Beastie, Eclipse, Linny, Ginny, or Monroe, the growth and the journey for the FMC was a ride worth being on. The DID rep was amazing! I think I trauma bonded with Zenya and I love her! There isn’t anything else to say, I’m mostly at a loss for words when it comes to how much I absolutely adore this story!

I received an ARC copy of this book last night and started reading immediately and fell down a rabbit hole. I couldnt put it down.

The book is everything I hoped it would be dark and twisted and left me asking myself wtf???

As my first Emily Shore book I can confidently say it won't be my last.

I'm excited to read the final copy when it comes out as well💥💥💥

I will say I know this story won't be for everyone and that's okay! Just don't ick someone else's yum!

What a beautifully dark story of trauma and healing.

Please be mindful of trigger warnings before going into this book- IT IS DARK.

This is not my usual read, but I am so grateful that I had an opportunity to ARC read it. It not only opened my eyes to Emily’s writing, but also made me feel so many emotions. The experiences were so magnificently described. I fell in love with the characters and was left wanting more of their story.

& now I’m gunna go build a pillow fort!

It was a dnf for me though at 60%.
Received as an ARC.

Well now that its out my honest review be very cautious because i will be brutal. Honestly it was a 2.5 for me honestly i hated the sandman main character, hate is a strong word for me but i would have yeeted that fool. I liked the other brothers and how they brought Hecate in it she was probably my favorite character. Im normally not triggered by anything but the infliction of pain while pleasing her was basically like torture p*rn and i was not here for it. Also i have never had a problem with somnophilia if it's sexual like she is into it while she's sleeping but when you do it while she's in a hospital bed unconscious and there's a tube down her throat (and she starts spitting up blood because you took out the tube) that's where I draw the line. Will i finish this book? No. Honestly it needed more context and story about the characters for me, i would have liked to know why she was in the hospital unconscious. I was so confused most of the time it pissed me off not going to lie. Will i be purchasing this book? Also no. Any book that pisses me off i don't want on my shelf. If i got this it would be for the cover and only because of Hecate in it. I have seen some reviews saying that this healed them of their SA trauma but honestly how? Most of the entire book was just smut and no story and none of the characters really were memorable for me. I didn't feel healed from it really if anything i just felt indifferent and wanted to slap the fmc half the time.

INSANE READ. Def not for everyone

I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for this book. When I tell you to be careful in choosing to read this, I mean it. I think this was my first "dark romance," and it was AMAZING, but UNCOMFORTABLE. Take the triggers seriously.

Emily Shore has a poetic way of writing. It's intense, but playful, confusing, but somehow makes sense. This book was a roller coaster from the start. I text my best book friend and told her I was going to need a date with a priest and to read the Bible only for the next year!

The characters are absolutely intoxicating. You fall in love with every single one of them. The trauma is very REAL, but so is the healing.

I had to sit with my feelings for a couple days before I reviewed this. I wasn't sure where I landed, because it did have me crawling through my skin and wondering what the heck I was reading.... but also screaming and laughing and rooting for our characters. These feelings are what make a book great, and I am confident in my 5⭐️ rating.

Super bonus that I love and appreciate so much. Emily Shore created a playlist and posts songs for each chapter. I wish this was a requirement for all books! 🥰

This book was my first ARC experience. I’ve never signed up for one before and I honestly had never encountered this author, but I put myself forward and received my copy so quickly! Onto the review..

As well as the first experience of being an ARC reader, I unwittingly had many more first experiences in the content of this book. Heed the trigger warnings before you begin, this author has taken great care to cover all of the content within her pages and gives plenty of warning! If it’s not for you, don’t read, because this book does not dally on content.

Emily uses her words to weave a very intricate and enthralling dreamscape for readers, and creates an immersive and captivating story with multiple characters, personalities and explores the depths of fear, pain, anguish, trauma and love in depth.

This is an enjoyable read, it had me questioning myself multiple times and the underlying emotion is clear. Also, phanta is amazing.

This was my first ARC read and completely out of my “normal” realm of reads. I read all the trigger warnings and was intrigued. Make sure you read them! None of them bothered me but beware of them because they’re all there for a reason. This book is DARK but so worth it if you can handle it.

Emily did an amazing job writing this book. I was a bit confused in the beginning being it something different for me but by chapter 16 there was no putting it down! Read the rest in an entire sitting! The character dynamics had me gasping and crying at times. It kept my attention and I just had to keep reading. The depth of Zenya’s past and where it got her to the present once it was all revealed was perfect. The scene details played perfectly in my head and nothing seemed to be missed or forgotten. And the spice, oh the spice was spot on!

I was in the right place at the right time to be given an ARC of this amazing book. I didn't really know what I was getting into even though we were given a ton of warnings. However, warnings aside, I loved this book!

Emily Shore's robust vocabulary and imagery transforms your reading space into the amazing places she shares with you. Her character development is thorough. The twist and turns I wasn't expecting, but made the journey so much more fufilling.

The ending was so incredibly sweet and worth some of the more difficult pieces to read in terms of those warnings she issues into the beginning of the book. If you're into some of the darker parts of our souls with a mix of spice, you'll enjoy this piece as I have.

I was given the honour of being an ARC reader for this work of art, and all I can say is to have your therapist on speed dial! This book took me for a ride, in the best of ways. I loved characters, hated them just to fall back in love with them. Emily is an exceptional author with a beautiful way of illustrating an entire world in your mind. Although her writing style can be more advanced for your average reader, it's worth pushing through. I promise you, if you stick through it, you will be rewarded.

Now, the best part. THE SPICE. MY GAWD. *chefs kiss*

My therapist has more on their plate then they even know. This book is dark. But beautifully so!

Thank you Emily for giving me this opportunity. 10/10 hands down!

Read this book…. but check the trigger warnings.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So here it is (and I’m trying sooo hard to not give any spoilers):
This book is cerebral and dark but ohhhhh so exciting and yummy. The spice is hot and there are several dives into deep topic explorations that make you think - this is not a light hearted read it’s definitely in the thought provoking category.
Definitely check the trigger warnings and take them seriously but if you’re game and you’re looking for a book world to fall into - this is it.

ARC Review, no spoilers

Emily definitely did a massive amount of research that she managed to flawlessly weave into an unhinged story and I love her for it. I like when reading a book makes me question how much therapy I require hahaha (the answer is a lot). While I don't have any triggers, I believe if I did, this book would have helped me through them. Kudos Emily

Completely out of reach of my wildest dreams 🤭😮‍💨 but like, where do I get me some dream gods.
