Alicia Watts has never feared things that go bump in the night. She knows actual terror, and it has nothing to do with the bogeyman. If it weren’t for her sister, Bailey, Alicia would have been the victim of the “monster” known as the system. So when Bailey ends up in a mental institution after being found delusional and roaming the streets, Alicia doesn’t hesitate to rush to her side.
The doctor doesn’t sugarcoat it. Bailey has suffered a severe mental breakdown. She’ll talk to no one, but she’s far from mute. Every waking moment is spent singing the children’s lullaby Hush Little Baby. Not even their horrid past explains Bailey’s extreme psychosis.
As Alicia searches for answers, she experiences strange events in Bailey’s home… events that make her question everything. What happened to Bailey? Was her sister living a double life? And the one that toys with her head the most … maybe there are things that go bump in the night?
WOW!!! That was one outstanding story!! I'm never gifting a doll to a child ever, lol!! This book was definitely creepy, scary, fun, exciting, and horror-filled! Blended perfectly well with paranormal suspense. One of my top favorite in this genre now! It was unique and imaginative. This is a story that will stay with me and I can definitely see myself re-reading this again and maybe even again after that!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was a great suspenseful scary doll story with all the major boxes ticked. Possession, creepy atmosphere, monsters, curses, you name it. Highly recommend.
I’m always here for a good ghost story, which is why I picked this one up. While the premise had potential, the execution felt a bit far-fetched. The focus on God, Lucifer, satanic demons, and the salt elements pushed the story into overly dramatic territory at times. Some of that fluff could have been trimmed to keep the tension sharper and the scares more grounded.
That said, the atmosphere and eerie moments were engaging. I just found myself wishing the epilogue had gone in a slightly different direction — Alicia partnering with Andrew or Detective Holt would have been a more satisfying ending. Overall, an ok read, but one that leaned too hard into theatrics for me. 2.5 ⭐️
This is my first read by Raven Lee, and it will probably lead me down the scary way. This is a tale of two sisters that had a rough childhood through being in the foster system. Alicia and Bailey are real close because of their beginning s. Bailey is an antique finder for clients, when she finally acquires a sought after Haunted doll, Ruby. A totally creepy story that will keep you reading. Well written, great characters and a hauntingly story, that will make you thinking twice before you ever buy another doll.
I wanted to try my hand at a read that I would never pick up. To my surprise, this book kept my attention. I was wrapped since the first page. It wasn’t just paranormal but showed how far a sister would go for the ones she loves. Looking for a suspense novel that keeps your attention from the first page to the last page…….THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! Totally recommend this book. Great read!
Now I remember why I moved away from horror, I’m scaredy-cat, and this book was spooky and creepy ! Dolls are creepy enough without great paranormal stories written but DAMN this book was great ( even though I was scared) I couldn’t put it down. I look forward to diving into more written by Raven Lee !!
I was very intrigued by the story and had a hard time putting the book down at first. By the time I reached about two-thirds of the way through, though, I felt like the story somewhat shifted and I became quite bored. I felt like Sally's story and the ending was somewhat unimaginative. Disappointing because I was so excited in the beginning.
Really enjoyed this book. I kept going back and forth between believing it was supernatural and that there was a real-world explanation. Well written. Highly recommend.
Loved the premise of this book! It kept my interest until the very end . I kept hoping the gang would come through for Bailey without getting themselves in trouble. A little disappointed at the ending though, whatever happened with the cop?
I couldn't put this book down.it got me from page 1.It was so full of suspense that you never know Whats going to happen next.the characters were all so wonderful. I love how close the sister were ,and everyone would do anything to help kill the curse
Good book and definitely kept my interest. Alicia discovers that her sister Bailey has had a “breakdown” and placed in a hospital. The only thing Bailey does is sing hush little baby. With the help of Baileys fiancé Garett it is discovered that Bailey acquired two dolls with a sinister past.
Entertaining story, but a little too predictable. Liked the characters but found it hard to believe that for sisters that are so close one wouldn’t tell the other that they have been dating someone for a year. A couple of other things seemed too far fetched as well. Enjoyed it overall.
This story gives you a new reverence for dolls and nannies. To be so in love with a man that you become jealous of his child is extreme, but to......aht, aht, you have to read it. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters a lot and the spooky wheezing was really scary! Pretty funny at the end when she gets asthma! The irony!
Ms Raven Lee is one one the best woman horror writers of our generation. This is a great novel, kept my Kindle glued to my hand. Can't wait to get the next one.
I read this book in like three days. The story was really good and kept me intrigued the entire time. My reason for 4 stars is because of a few typos throughout. I really enjoyed reading this though.
I was pretty captivated for the most part but the character of Alicia was overbearing at times and some parts came off as cheesy or lazy but the plot over all kept me reading. The ending was okay, just felt like it was all quickly wrapped up in a nice bow.
It only took me 8 years to find the perfect story for this cover, but who's counting, lol. I hope you have as much fun reading this book as I did writing it. Creepy Reading!
I would recommend this entire series. I couldn’t wait to read all of them. Very intriguing and edge of your seat, worthy. Just a few typos nothing major.
