I was so excited when this book was released, and it most certainly didn’t disappoint. It was fast-paced and full of adventure. I loved getting to know the characters better, while they began to discover the true intricacies of their realm, fraught with mistrust and mystery. “Mirror Tree," the second installment in AnneMarie Mazotti Gouveia's “Drifters Realm” fantasy adventure series, is a spellbinding journey through magical landscapes.
In this enchanting tale, twelve-year-old triplets Ori, Roe, and Tora, alongside their older brother Theo, embark on a quest filled with their unpredictable magic and the unwavering trust between siblings. As they confront the Guardians, controlled by their formidable uncle, First City Leader Zane, the siblings weave a tapestry of courage and resilience.
This reader loved the description of the cast of characters and the map in the beginning of the book, as well as the enchanting illustrations.
Gouveia's narrative, a symphony of fantasy and adventure, unfolds like a captivating spell, transporting readers into a world where imagination reigns supreme. "Mirror Tree" is a testament to the magic of familial bonds and the power of the fantastical.
To help save the realm from their uncle , Torah, Oro, and Roe must join with Theo the Lion to locate the key to the magical Mirror Tree. But can they solve the prophecy and save the realm? Even with the help of friends, they may fail to stop their uncle and lose everything... The author has created a diverse land filled with intelligent cats that interact with the human characters in a believable manner. There is just enough magic to keep the story moving, but not so much that it removes the danger or suspense. Even though the author blends information on throughout the story, I suggest you read book 1 before book 2 as their are several story lines going at one time.
This is the second book in the Drifters Realm fantasy series.
I wish I had been able to read the first book prior to this, but I still thought this was a delightful book. The characters were unique and interesting, and it was light enough to be enjoyed in one sitting. It reminded me a little bit of the Narnia novels, so I wonder if C.S. Lewis fans would like this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.
a perfect continuation of the disneyesque adventure
a perfect continuation of the disneyesque adventure It’s hard to juggle so many characters and keep them interesting and interactive with each other In fun new ways . This young adult tale achieves this feat with aplomb! It’s most shining virtue I believe!
Take my review with a grain of salt because I haven’t read the first book in the series. Still, I think the best series can engage you no matter where you jump in. This one didn’t do it for me. The world building and overall story arc have a lot going for them, but the writing felt flat and skeletal to me—more like a very long synopsis than a fully fleshed out novel.
Powerful teenagers struggle to save “ The Drifter’s Realm” from the evil Zane. A complex a heart pounding adventure. There are some really stunning chapter illustrations throughout the book. I recommend starting with book one however.
This is a really intriguing book. It’s about a woman who starts uncovering her family's hidden secrets, with a mysterious mirror tree playing a central role in the story. The writing is immersive and brings the characters and their world to life. If you enjoy unraveling mysteries and diving into family drama, this one’s a great pick!
I love this series so much. It’s hard to get a five star rating out of me, but this one did it. What really did it for me was the illustrations. They are so meticulous and beautiful.
The story itself is also very well composed and interesting.

Mirror Tree, the second installment in the Drifters Realm fantasy adventure series, propels readers into a whirlwind of danger, magic, and sibling loyalty. Picking up where its predecessor left off, Gouveia masterfully weaves together themes of survival, trust, and family as the four estranged siblings—Roe, Ori, Theo, and Tora—must confront the terrifying prophecy that threatens to engulf their mystical world, Drifters Realm.
Equipped with bravery and magical backpacks, the siblings must unravel an old prophecy that predicts a catastrophic conflict. They discover a locked box connected to their family's fate, confront the unsettling Ghost of Ruin, and unearth enigmatic mysteries along the way. The elusive Mirror Tree and Shadow Stone, which are essential to rescuing Drifters Realm, are at the centre of their journey. During their voyage, they pass through dangerous swamps, dark caverns, arid deserts, and beautiful forests—all of which are vividly described by Gouveia.
One of the standout elements of Mirror Tree is Gouveia’s ability to blur the lines between right and wrong. As the siblings face moral dilemmas and increasingly difficult choices, the reader is left questioning where true loyalty lies. The stakes are higher than ever as they fight to prevent Zane’s rise to power, and the shifting allegiances and secrets add a layer of unpredictability that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
In ways that words alone cannot, the presence of breathtaking chapter graphics heightens the immersive experience and gives Drifters Realm life. The story is made even more vivid and captivating by the way each picture seems to be a doorway into this fantastical universe. The siblings must deal with the hazy boundaries between good and evil as they fight their uncle Zane and his army of supernatural Guardians. This moral complexity gives the story depth and elevates it beyond a magical tale to one about bravery, trust, and the enduring power of family.
This is Book 2 in the Drifters Realm series. Siblings Theo, Roe, and Ori have been reunited with their sister, Tora. They discovered that all the problems in Drifters Realm were created by their uncle, Zane. Now Zane wants to create an uprising that will destroy Drifters Realm. The four teenagers must find a special tree, the Mirror Tree, to stop him.
I enjoyed this book, though it was slower than Book 1. The kids are on a quest to find the tree, their confidence in their powers are growing for most of them, but that growth also reveals a deep seated jealousy that borders on paranoia for another. The author expertly brings their conflict to a slow boil and it explodes at a crucial time.
This book ended with a cliff hanger also, and I think I am more intrigued with the issues between the teenagers than saving Drifter’s Realm from Zane. I’m not a big fan of books with cliff hangers, but I’ll have to curb my impatience until Book 3 comes out. I’m rooting for for the siblings, but I bet Zane will carry out more of his diabolical plan.
The Mirror Tree is book two of the Drifter's Realm. I read the first one and this one almost is great. There are three triplets Ori, Roe, and Tora, and their older brother Theo. They try to stop the Guardians who are under their uncle Zane. Ori has the Sorceror Obligation which their uncle wants to steal. The Menace assist them in this ancient battle. This is a great book and I enjoyed the story including the graphics. I am looking forward to the next book.
