This was so cute! I haven’t read a romance book in a while so this was a good starter for the 2024 year. I found myself relating to Livvy a lot in this book. From the things she’s experiences to her thought process it was comforting. I’m also a huge sucker for a second chance romance. I’m really excited to see the next book in this series & learn more about the sisters as a whole. I also hope Emily Tudor comes out with some cute graphic design covers 🤞🏻🫶🏻

my first 5 stars of the year. absolutely loved this book. no words. Emily is just an absolute amazing writer. I’m going to need a few days to put myself together and gather some words to write a proper review.
YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!! you can thank me later.

updating with the review:
now that I had some time to stop crying and process everything, I can talk about this book. this was heartbreaking, transforming and simply beautiful. I don’t think I will have proper words to describe how beautiful this book is.
this is the most beautiful love story I’ve read in a while. actually, this book is more than a love story. I swear that I can’t put into words how raw and emotional and heartbreaking the love between Tristan and Olivia is.
I was 8% in when I knew that this book was going to destroy me and be a 5-stars read. and I wasn’t wrong.
I loved the dual timeline and the fact we got to see scenes from their life in college and a few years after. I’m a sucker for second chance romance but this one might have become my new favorite second chance romance ever.
Tristan is absolutely the perfect book boyfriend. and then we have Olivia that I swear that I couldn’t relate to her more. I love both of them and they are perfect for each other.

thank you Emily Tudor and Love Notes PR for the ARC for this book

4.5⭐️ I was not prepared for how deep this book connected with my soul. Every single feeling and anxiety Livvy has is something I’ve felt personally at some point in my life. This book was such a hidden gem. 🥹

This book had a bit of a slow start but once I got into it, my heart was beyond invested. Livvy’s struggles and feelings about how hard being an adult is, literally stabbed me in the heart. Every thought, feeling and doubt she expressed is something unbelievable relatable. She’s always felt a little lost and I feel like that will resonate with a ton of readers.

There were so many moments where my heart broke reading this story. Tristin’s and his family dealing with their loss, DESTROYED ME.

Livvy and Tristin were soulmates and I was so happy they finally got their happy ending after so many things stood in their way. Their physical chemistry was off the charts.

“𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘵'𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦. 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦. 𝘙𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥. 𝘍*****.”

The Story:
Livvy Hart’s dream is to become a writer. She’s spent her whole life being overlooked by her parents. Her sister is a famous YouTube star and her parents only show any attention to her. When a guy spills coffee on her before a big presentation, he offers her his hoodie to wear. Little did Livvy know that that one little moment would change everything.

Tristin West has one goal, to leave his hometown and go to Silicon Valley to work as a software engineer after college. After spilling coffee all over a beautiful girl, he can’t get her out of his head.

As Tristin and Livvy get closer and develop a relationship, it looks like everything is going their way. Unfortunately, life is rarely straightforward. Now it’s 4 years later and Tristin is back in town for a funeral and he can’t wait to see the girl who broke his heart.

4.75 stars arc review:

"The world may be a huge place, but I'm thankful that I ended up living at the same time as Olivia Hart." 🌅🤎

let’s start this review with this some tropes and infos:
-second chance romance
-forced proximity
-grief/mental health rep*
-found family

and now what’s to say well this book was one the best book I could read now because I could relate a lot to the characters and hence for this and other things I was totally immersed in the story.

Emily’s writing captured all the details and scenes in a very unique and interesting way that made this story a warm one where you can be easily invested 💌 and now I can’t wait to read her other stories especially the one about our Bree ✨

Tristan and Livy what’s to say about those two… they were a lot of things adorable, cute, caring about each other feelings, strong and also both of them were very relatable in their own way:

Tristan the way he talked about Olivia was the definition of chef kiss and they he felt about his big brother role it was truly something else 🫶🏻

Olivia she’s such a mood because sometimes she just felt stuck without a direction and I feel that this is a situation where we all end up at least once in our life. I just loved her 🫶🏻

Thank u so much @lovenotes.pr and Emily Tudor for giving me the possibility of reading this warm story 💌

Let me start by saying, please read this book! The amount of annotations is crazy

The story of Liv & Tristan is so so beautiful and i don’t think it’ll leave my mind for a whileeee!

The connection I felt to Olivia was insane. You know the feeling where a book makes you feel understood? I felt that way from literally the beginning!

Emily is so talented with words and created the most beautiful story about love, loss, grief and trying to find out who you are. I also adored the way the story itself was set up, it made for a very hooking read. I HAD to know what was happening constantly and never wanted to put it down!

The way they love each other and grow together absolutely melted me. Such an amazing read!! I definitely recommend 🤎

The Road Not Taken

Thank you so much, Love Notes PR and Emily Tudor, for sending me an ARC!!

This is by far the most heart wrenching forever ingrained into my brain kind of a story, written by Emily. Her writing has gotten so much better and it really shows!!

The reason I love second chance romance books so much, is because they give real life more hope.

The idea that even after so many years that passed, there is a slight chance love is still there for you. It’s holding out, working and waiting out in its own way, for the best possible outcome eventually. Is something I find a very lot of comfort in.

Emily Tudor, author of The Road Not Taken, has elevated this perspective. Grieve, solitude, romantic love, friendship, family and the burden and blessing of being the oldest child.

Not wanting to be misunderstood. Wanting to be noticed yet being unseen. Realizing how much you long to feel something, something that enhances all and everything that you are as a human being.

Finding something yet losing it all in one heartbeat. And I don’t necessarily mean romantic love, but family.

As being an introverted, oldest daughter, aspiring published author. Being criticized and mocked, yet also not looked upon by my own parents. I could see myself a lot in Olivia. She’s a rock, one I think I’ll hold on to, for whenever I feel there’s no hope left for me.

Tristan and Olivia. Both pieces of a puzzle, forever lost without each other.

Tristan is this sleeping around guy, does not let anyone in his space, but he’s a real good guy. No nonsense or bullshitting around. I liked him from the moment I met him.

Around 70% of the book, we’ll find out a very important shocking yet not completely shocking revelation . I was actually so taken aback, I read the page ten times before moving on. I couldn’t believe it. I’m still really upset and confused, especially the reason behind it is so sad.

Mostly, it was the best first cozy romance book of the year, and I’m so incredibly proud of Emily for writing this story. I loved it so much, and you go girl!! I need Bree’s story more than anything. Can’t wait to see what you’ll be cooking up for that one.

This book was everything, we had differents timelines and that helped us to go through the story.
This book follows Tristan and Olivia, they fall in love in college and want to be together forever, but something happens and they part ways.
He is the popular guy while she is the shy girl, but that doesn´t stop them to fall in love.
The next part was so heartbreaking that i couldn´t stop crying while i was reading it, it was so well writting and it will hurt your soul.

Tropes:
- Second chance romance.
- Found family.
- Popular guy x shy girl.

Thanks to Love Notes Pr for the Arc.

okay i genuinely don’t know where to start. this genuinely could turn into an essay so bare with me.

first of all, thank you to the incredibly talented emily tudor for allowing me to read this book early. i knew i would be obsessed with it and here we are. you deserve every good thing in this world and you are a genuine inspiration. i love you insanely and this book deserves every award possible.

okay. so, in short, livvy and trissy poo (yes i’ll refer to them as this and this only) meet in college and they establish a relationship, passing notes like the romantics they are, but their relationship is severed and when their paths cross again, four years later, everything is different.

from the first chapter, i knew id be insanely down bad for them. these characters are so easy to like and so insanely relatable. livvy is the most sweetest and tender hearted person ever who just has this incredibly sweet and emotional heart that needs to be cared for — which her friends, sister and tristan do. emily captures the feeling of trying your best and aspiring for something that feels so out of reach, yet so close. and my trissy poo is just so…. loyal. (and hot) he has this image of what his life would be like and he’s so desperate to do good and be okay with just being good. his family mean the world to him and he would drop everything for his siblings. emily executes the feeling of being the eldest sibling through livvy and trissy poo so well. like she just GETS it, yk? as a younger sibling, yet the eldest daughter, it’s HARD OUT HEREEEE and i’ve never felt more seen in my life.

family dynamics are written so rawly that you feel like you’re in the room with them. from start to finish, every single scene with the family members or with the found family, you just feel so connected to them. she brings them so life so well and it’s astonishing that they feel so incredibly real.

the story is written so well, which can be tricky with a dual timeline!!! and she did it perfectly. you’re left wanting to put the pieces together of the lost time with the characters and it’s got this underlying mystery that you’re DYING to figure out. you can’t help but root for these characters and want them to be together and flourish together. tristanlivvy bring out the best in each other and watching their relationship grow and change and grow again feels like a privellege.

okay i have to end this review by saying the SMUT????? saur good. so hot and not too much or too little. it’s perfectly paced and the right amount of spice. still, it had the emotional factor that made my heart skip. i’ve sobbed to this book too many times and it honestly feels like a privilege more than anything.

overall, emily has outdone herself with this book and if you love emily henry or authors like christina lauren, you’re going to absolutely love this beautifully written contemporary romance. second chance romance is where it’s at and we don’t talk about it enough.

anyway thank you again to emily. you’re insane and i apologise for the threats i sent you, but also not really. this book is everything i was expecting and more. you should be so proud of yourself babe.

it almost feels like a betrayal to say this but... trnt is my favorite tudorverse book SO FAR (trltb comes out august and i'm certain it'll take the top spot)!!! i'm so so sorry to my day ones, paigeoliver u will always have a special place in my true crime loving heart🫶🫶

me falling in love with this book was a miracle within itself. i HATE second chances... usually. every single second chance i have ever read? automatically disliked it. i've never read a second chance and liked it until now. that point alone proves how special this book is.

as an eldest sibling, evermore girlie, and just a person who struggles to find and pick a singular path to go down in life (can u tell i love the dedication deeply??) tristan and livvy especially spoke to me. this book truly captures grief, love, heartbreak, family, loss, self discovery, and so much more in a way that feels so raw and real yet its dealt to us so beautifully. it really is a beautiful story that will have you ugly crying. trust me, i know.

and as a general note- literally all of ems books speak to me in a way no other books have ever done before. no jokes. i don't know how but they do???? also you will never catch a tudorverse book playlist lacking. they hit. every. single. time!!!!! i'll be moving onto the next chapter and see the chapters song and i have either one of three reactions:
1. i'm going to be sobbing this chapter
2. omg i love this song AHHHH
3. 😼😼🔥🔥🌶️🌶️🥵

i'm not even joking a tiny bit when i tell you guys this was one of my favorite books to read and annotate. i finished it in A DAY!! i couldn't even fit all the annotations i did in this one post, and this is probably my most tabbed book EVER. if you haven't read this masterpiece yet... READ IT. NOW!!!!!

also trltb is out august 1!! i'm very excited for this one because as much as i love evermore.. i am a folklore girlie first ALWAYS!! from what i know, i feel like i can connect with bree in so many ways and also bodyguard romance??? literally my favorite trope EVER!!!

five stars from me!!

ARC review 💌

This was one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve ever gotten to read. The way Emily put so many of my own feelings into words with this book, i felt like I was reading about myself sometimes. I almost can’t even put into words how much emotional and heartbreaking and beautiful the love between Tristan and Livvy is.

Second chance romance has never been my favorite, but it wasn’t like that with this one. I was rooting for them every single step of the way, and I just wanted to give them both such a big hug 😭

Tristan was true perfection and the most genuine and loving book boyfriend ever. His protectiveness of Livvy was so so sweet and I just loved his character so so much. Something about him was so gentle and so strong at the very same time. And when he stood up to her parents? We love 🤭 Olivia, Olivia, Olivia, literally she was inside my head the whole time and idk how Emily did that???? I don’t think I’ve related so closely to a character before and it made me feel all the emotions throughout the book so much more. She was shy and emotional, but she was unbelievably strong in all the ways I aspire to be. I loved her so much

I especially loved how we got to see full scenes from both timelines, their life in college and after the ✨breakup✨. And their road to getting back together after everything was so heartbreaking but absolute perfection and it put everything back together

This was a beautiful love story that had me shedding tears by the end of chapter one, and I’m so so glad I was able to read this 🥹

“Olivia Hart has and always will be, my fucking undoing”.

this book follows tristan and olivia, two college students who fell deeply in love with each other. tristan’s plan had always been to leave the town they lived in, and olivia has felt stuck in both her life and in her writing, until she meets tristan west. they fall in love, and olivia was going to follow tristan out of this town, but something comes up, which leaves them to do long distance. now, four years later, they meet up at the grocery store they once worked at, and haven’t seen each other since four years ago...

OH. MY. GOD. i didn’t expect this book to hit as hard as it did, but it exceeded my expectations. the dual timeline between the past and present in this book was executed perfectly, and emily’s writing really shone through in this book. because, wow, the quotes, the writing, was absolutely incredible. the way she wrote about olivia’s struggles, and how she felt behind from everyone, and felt stuck in her life, had felt so real, and so relatable to my own struggles. the way emily wrote about both tristan and olivia’s struggles, in such a relatable manner, had been amazing. it was really incredible reading two characters who felt so lost in their lives, heal each other, along with healing themselves. this story was so beautifully written, and everyone should definitely read this.

on a completely different note, tristan west IS MY HUSBAND. THAT’S RIGHT. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH, the way he unconditionally supported olivia and her goals, like give him to me RIGHT NOW.

Thank you to Emily Tudor for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I enjoyed reading Livy and Tristan’s story and I’m a sucker for a dual timeline like this book was. I also greatly appreciated the depth of this book in terms of the hard topics it covers and tackles in a way that felt so real and raw. Also, as a CS girly myself, I appreciated the many CS references especially in the first half of the book and ALSO how accurate they were. Maybe that’s a small detail to other people, but I really enjoyed it. I had a good time. Very quick read for me but their reconnection was cute and I liked it.

I honestly don’t have the words to describe how much I loved this book. The characters, the writing, the playlist, it was all perfect. I was instantly hooked from the moment I read the prologue and got so lost in the story that many times I forgot I was reading, which everyone knows only the best books can do.

All the characters in this book have my heart, well except for 3 specific characters (iykyk). It’s very rare to find a character that you feel a deep, emotional connection with, however, I felt very attached to both Tristan and Livvy. I was constantly relating to them and the things they were going through, and at times it even felt like Emily’s words were directly addressing me, which I have rarely experienced before when reading a book.

Also can we talk about how perfect the playlist for this book is? The fact that Emily Tudor took the time to curate a specific playlist with songs that line up with every chapter is honestly amazing. It almost made me feel like I was watching a movie in my head, as I could easily picture the scene I was reading in my brain with the perfect soundtrack playing in the background. It definitely enhanced my reading experience and established the cozy, warm atmosphere of this book.

This is definitely a more emotional read that stirred up a wide range of emotions for me. I was full on sobbing during large chucks of the second half, but there were also moments where I was giggling and kicking my feet because of how adorable Tristan and Livvy are together, or laughing out loud at their banter. They are honestly so cute together. The way that they are both able to help bring one another back to themselves when they get too lost in their head/overwhelmed by their emotions is so amazingly sweet. They will forever hold a special place in my heart as one of my favorite book couples.

I also loved all the family dynamics that were shown. Tristan’s family and their bond is so special, and Liv’s relationship with her sister, Bree, is probably one of my favorites in this entire book. They have the strongest connection and most positive sibling relationship. I love Bree and am ecstatic to see how her story will continue to unfold in book 2 of the Hart Sisters.

This was such a heartwarming story, not only about love but about the struggles of life and how hard it can be sometimes to figure out what path you should be on. This book truly touched my heart, and I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to read it.

Olivia (Livvy) & Tristan meet & fall in love in college & become inseparable- even after graduation when Tristan has plans to go to California & Livvy decides to join him. However, something comes up, causing Livvy to stay back for a few months. With only a few weeks left to go until she’s set to be reunited with Tristan, Livvy gets a letter from him, but instead of his usual sweet love letters, this is a letter of him breaking up with her…

Wow. Just wow. I cried so much that my eyes became swollen, because this book is utterly heartbreaking, emotional, & deeply soul touching. It deals with themes such as grief, suicide, loss, family issues, healing, & self discovery (check TW’s⚠️), which were all handled with care & explored quite deeply, rather than just being used for the sake of the plot. The writing was raw, deep, melancholic, emotional, & moving, & I was enthralled the entire time.

Livvy’s character is one that deeply spoke to, & resonated with me. I found myself crying so often because everything that was going on in her mind was very relatable. She felt lost & directionless, never good enough, & like she was behind in life compared to everyone else. I’m the oldest sibling too, so all the responsibility she felt, & sacrifices she made were very real to me. She was shy, emotional, sweet, sassy, & tender hearted, but also very brave & I loved her growth🥹🤎Tristan was the perfect boyfriend, son & brother. He was loyal, protective of the ones he loved, hardworking, smart, swoony, hot, strong, dependable, charming, loving, caring- the list goes on. Every time this man opened his mouth I highlighted the page😩🙌🏼

Livvy’s & Tristan’s relationship during college was so sweet but hot, & it was filled with many cute/wholesome moments & fun/playful banter. After college it’s filled with heartbreak, hurt, & longing, & when they run into each other 4 years later there’s still so much pain & heartbreak, but now there’s also a great deal of tension & undeniable chemistry/attraction. I loved them sm & I wanted to give them a hug❤️‍🩹😔🫂

ARC review :)

A note to all readers: don’t read this on an airplane because you WILL CRY.

I sort of feel like this book was a bit life changing; the rollercoaster of emotions it put me through was one I haven’t experienced with a book in a long while.

This is a beautiful story about loss, heartbreak, finding yourself and a second chance at love.

I’ve never read anything by Emily Tudor but her books are going on my tbr immediately.

READ IT WITH THE PLAYLIST!!!!

*there are big spoilers in this review*

The portrayal of grief was utterly stunning and mostly unexpected. I’d understood there was going to be suicide (or at least suicidal thoughts) but I thought it would come from Livvy.
The death destroyed me because it came out of nowhere and witnessing the aftermath was so beautifully tragic.

I almost preferred (in a messed up way) the grief elements to their relationship. Yes I loved Livvy and Tristan but Emily’s writing absolutely shone through when discussing grief.

There was a lot going on in the story and I’ve found myself disliking books with this in the past but it was all written for a reason in this story. The stalking leading to the rift between them (and I’m assuming set up the next book?) which then lead to the breakup (etc etc) the letters, the sunsets, the breakup, the death, the traditions; they all meant something and I didn’t feel like she was just cramming tropes for the sake of it.

I think it would be so wrong to dismiss this as “just another romance” and not see it as an exploration of grief - through death of loved ones and death of a relationship.
But don’t get me wrong I loved the romance!! 🫶🫶

I’d SERIOUSLY recommend this when it comes out on the 30th Jan!

Yes, there were a few cringy moments and maybe a couple of errors but my god what a story. Books like these continue to make me love storytelling.

A beautiful second chance romance. I loved the depth of the characters. The tough topics dealt with in the book were handled with care. Do be cautious to read the trigger warnings. Slight cliffhanger ending that sets up the sister’s storyline well. I can’t wait to see where it goes next! Thank you Love Notes PR and Emily Tudor for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

everything in this book is written so beautifully. especially the grief that these characters go through. tobias’s character really stuck with me and i think he always will. and the way with what happens and how everyone copes with tobias is just so heart-wrenching but needed!!

that part is important, you never truly know someone and know if they are struggling, the first step is always the hardest asking for help but omg the tears i cried ILL NEVER FORGET!!

the plot was so so good. AND THE TWISTS THE TWISTS WOW!! AND THE PLAYLIST BEST BOOK PLAYLIST EVER IN MY OPINION!!

5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tropes:
🩷 second chance
🖤dual timeline
🩷found family
🖤loss/ grief
🩷 dual pov
🖤sports romance

This was my first read from Emily Tudor and this book was so good. The two main characters, Olivia and Tristan, meet in college. He spills coffee all over her and gives her his hoodie and the rest they say is history. The book does have a dual timeline, 4 yrs ok while they were in college and everything that let up to Present day. I love how they loved each other and figured out what TRULY happened and were able to move past it and both get their HEA as they were each other’s soul mates. I’m glad she was able to find her family, besides her sister Bree, who love and support her. Let her be her true self. Looks like Bree will be getting her own book and I can’t wait to read that as well. Thank you to live notes pr for allowing me to read in advance

beta read it, review to come soon but I’m mentally not okay. 😽

i will genuinely never shut up about this book and my emotional connection to this book and its characters

firstly, thank you to my em girl for letting me be a beta reader for TRNT, the second em mentioned eldest siblings being together i knew i was sold. im so proud of you, em. your 4th book baby <3

the way this was written was so RAW, i was able to feel place myself in the story, being the oldest sibling myself, i truly felt each and every emotion the tristlivvy were going through. i felt so SEEN. for once i didn't feel like i was alone, it felt oddly comforting that what i was going through was also a common experience and i had these characters to keep me afloat.

livvy. she is just like me but in another font, always feeling like she didn't really have meaning to life and how things just remained constant and she was living through the motions. her character really made me realise that its okay to feel lost or to stray away from your original plan. things will work out one way or another.

tristan. wow. he's actually me. im not even kidding. the eldest sibling's need to keep yourself together when everyone is falling apart is so real. the way he would never be vulnerable or crack in front of his loved ones to make sure that they don't worry for him is so me. i wanted to sob my eyes out and just tell him to let it out. that it was okay to not be okay. he would always be loved no matter what.

tristanlivvy changed my perspective of life in a certain way. i learnt how to be proud of the small and big achievements in my life. and that it's okay to break down.

the SMUT? oh. it was GOOD. SAUR GOOD. but this book was also heartbreakingly good. literally so painful but so good at the same time.

READ IT!

tropes:
💌second chance
💌dual timeline
💌popular guy x shy girl
💌forced proximity
💌found family
💌letters

where do i even start, this book is my new roman empire and i can't stop thinking about it.
so let me tell you sometimes im a bit skeptical about second chance books, but miss emily tudor absolutely killed it.
also want to say the biggest thank you to emily for trusting me with her book and giving me an arc🫶🏽🤎
okay so into the story we go, this book was the most heartbreaking yet beautiful and wholesome book i've read in a while, i think one of the last books that made me feel so many emotions before this one was "happy place" and given that that was my favorite book of 2023 it's saying something, the road not taken made me sob my eyes out, but it also brought the biggest smile on my face.
i love livvy and tristan so badly, they're the literal definition of soulmates + the way both their characters are so real and raw makes you love them even more!
i related to livvy so badly, the way she feels about what path to go on, how she literally keeps all the cards/notes/letters that people give her, she's just like me and i love her so much <3
i also can't not mention my new book bf aka tristan west, he was always so sweet and wholesome and just everything a girl could wish for, but he was also such a relatable character with all his struggles, how he is a massive people pleaser, etc... i just am completely in love with him, he is the standard.
honestly i just recommend this book so so much, i loved the ending of it, how beautifully it wrapped up this story and i can't wait to have more books about the other characters 🫶🏽
YOU ABSOLUTELY NAILED THIS EM!!

I’m sorry but I didn’t love it as much as I wanted to
Some stuff felt very repetitive and unnecessary

I loved the romance but I kinda didn’t understand the point of the conflict? Like her parents were irrelevant to the story and then they’re the reason for the whole plot?
I also didn’t get the reason for the (TW) suicide…idk

I love their love, though. That was cute and heartwarming
