The book begins with a powerful note - "Everything we do is Spiritual". I couldn't agree more since most of us believe in GOD who is called by different names under different religions. We also believe that there is "Unseen Power" above us which decides our fate and Karma.

The book is divided into 12 chapters namely:

1. Have we forgotten?
2. What have we forgotten?
3. What is Love?
4. What is the nature of the soul?
5. God is?
6. Why is freedom important?
7. What is the relevance of cyclic events and things that exist in pairs?
8. What is the toughest thing to overcome? 9. What is a choice, and does it exist?
10. What does connecting mean?
11. What do you value the most?
12. You rather experience and know or do you want to know and then experience. Also, why?

Each of these has a powerful message to convey. Author focuses majorly on EGO which she explains beautifully "Act of cosmic energy that determines input and output and NOT the EGO".

Letting go of ego can bring lot of good results. How true are these lines.

Author amphasises on Path laid down by the cosmic force and we all travel in that.

What do you give and what do you get in return?

When there was a mention about handwritten letters, it was a Rewind of the past. “So, anytime a person walks into your life, understand the purpose they are here for”.

A purpose is a purpose. When I read statements like these, I felt I was reading a book which is not only spiritual but also a guide that reiterates aspects that were laid/preached by our ancestors.

“Suffering is an indicator that someone’s life is going to change”. - This is a motivating factor and should be used in the right sense as it is intended to be.

“Love and freedom are complimentary. If you love, you are free. If you are free, you love” - a statement one needs to be retrospect

There is an interconnection between each chapter which you will realise when you read this book. These are universal concepts that will apply to one and all irrespective of race, religion, culture and place.
What is ego?

“Often ego is looked upon as the bad guy. If used and tamed properly, ego can be the biggest instrument to show you the depth of who you truly are. Realization is a relative process”. How true this statement is :)

Don’t seek validation which is also a form of divide. Use this at your workplace to see how it transforms your otherwise unpleasure work in a pleasure.

Right and Wrong - both are needed to progress in this strange process called Life. Agree?

Purpose was a thoughtful chapter.

How life played across various stages of the author and how it shaped her up of what she is today. Though this book is a quick read, the message it conveys and the crux it has will travel with you for life.

This week I read “The Doer” by Rekha Nair.
If you are curious about how to be self-aware and want to know about yourself deeper, you must continue reading below:

✨Who is the author and Why the title “The Doer”?
Rekha is a pharmacist who was born and raised in India but found her spiritual when she went to America in her 20’s. She compares Doer to the one who is making things happen. If you think you solely are making everything happen; your achievements are your own; your health, family, job, happiness, sadness, misery, circumstances are all your creations, then you are associating’I’ with everything; its your ‘ego’ into play. When you understand that you are here for a purpose and be aware that a ‘Doer’ (call it a cosmic force, higher power, god, mathematical equation, law) is operating beyond us, you accept your life wholly and feel fulfilled from within.

✨ The cover of ‘The Doer’
It displays the energy of Goddess Shakti over a white background of serenity. The blend of power along with peace transpires into you when you look at the cover of this book.

✨What’s in it for you and why you must read it?
Rekha has shared all her realisations giving examples from her own life. She has talked about different subjects that we all really want to know in our life journey as well. You will know about - what differentiates ‘Ego’ from ‘Self-Respect’? what ‘Love’ really is? what is the importance of freedom in our life? why should we let things go? why we feel powerless sometimes? how to accept life as it is?

✨What I learnt from the book?
I have climbed one step above on the ladder of knowing myself after reading Rekha’s thoughts. I could see myself in lot of her instances as well, especially since this book came in my life at a point of too much uncertainty and a need for self-realisation. Each page is written with so much depth that you’ll be convinced to accept those words. Rekha doesn’t ask you to accept them but she makes you believe what the truth of our being lies in.

✨Spirituality seekers must have this book in their shelf, then in their hands and then in their minds.

Enter the ethereal realm of "The Doer," where the boundaries of language dissolve, and the essence of existence unfurls like a lotus in bloom. Rekha Nair's magnum opus transcends the mere confines of a book; it is a sacred scroll, unfurling the secrets of the universe with each delicate turn of phrase.

Within these pages, Nair masterfully weaves a tapestry of truth and transcendence, each word a brushstroke upon the canvas of consciousness. Through her alchemical prose, she invites readers on a pilgrimage of the spirit, guiding them through the labyrinthine corridors of self-discovery and enlightenment.

But this is no mere intellectual exercise; it is a soul-stirring journey that demands courage and introspection. Nair's words resonate with the echoes of ancient wisdom, drawing readers into a sacred dialogue with their innermost selves.

As the reader delves deeper, they are confronted with the shadowy recesses of their own psyche, where ego and desire hold sway. Yet, amidst the darkness, Nair's luminous wisdom acts as a guiding light, illuminating the path to inner peace and spiritual liberation.

Each chapter is a revelation, each sentence a mantra to be savored and contemplated. Through Nair's guidance, readers are empowered to confront their fears, embrace their vulnerabilities, and awaken to the boundless potential of their own being.

Humans have always grappled with emotional challenges when it comes to moving on or letting go, whether it's of something or someone. We tend to become attached, both materially and emotionally, leading to suffering. This suffering doesn't stem from the attachment itself but from the controlling influence that connects our ego to these attachments.

In this book, the author adeptly illustrates how we can release these emotional burdens and embrace life with a profound sense of unity. The spiritual and philosophical insights provide clarity across all aspects of life, whether it's navigating career decisions or cultivating relationships with ourselves and others. This book serves as a guiding beacon in times of uncertainty.

It has helped me break free from my entangled thoughts of attachment by elucidating the purpose behind "letting go."

By becoming the "Doer" and guiding life through spiritual principles, the ego diminishes, allowing us to become more attuned to our inner conscience. This book entered my life precisely when I needed these lessons the most.

Though concise, this book is truly a treasure for all readers. I highly recommend it to lovers of philosophy and rational thinkers alike. It will broaden your understanding and foster self-acceptance.

There is often a thin line between the ego and self-respect. How to tell the difference? In simple terms ego attaches and self-respect detaches.

The beautiful lines are from the book the doer. Isn't the name so fascinating? The title of the book really gave me power to read the book in one go plus the aesthetic and vibrant cover. It's so beautifully designed that anyone can get attracted to it.

So what if life? After reading the book I got the perfect definition that life is what we think and most importantly bring ourselves. Author has clearly drawn the difference between being us and being selfish.

The book has few life mantras that can really change your life. The discipline, the purpose , the choice and many more things. Basically the book can be read by those who are really lost in their life and want to know the real survival of life .

The book is best to gift someone as reading this book is really a great opportunity for anyone. I really liked the idea of the book and I loved the way the author has written everything so flawlessly.

I have been reading a lot of fast-paced, gory thrillers with not just one but multiple murders so I thought of squeezing in a non-fiction in between as a detox 🫣🙏🏻.

The Doer is a short book enumerating learnings from the author’s personal experiences in life. The book is all about the art of letting go, freedom, making choices and overcoming the toughest of times in life.

The book succinctly provides a guide to spirituality in an easily comprehensible manner sans the elaborate vocabulary and descriptions. It was a refreshing read with a different perspective towards life. Looking into oneself never seemed so easy but reading The Doer made me introspect more within than outside.

I chanced upon this one just at the right time as it helped me in putting things into a beautiful perspective, one that resonated with me. It is a very short and simple read of 55 pages and is a form of contemplative writing on self discovery through the passage of life, which the author ends with her personal story of cultivating resilience and faith towards finding happiness, peace and contentment within.

The central message of the book is: You are exactly where you need to be. Every situation that you are in provides an opportunity to learn, grow, teach and inspire and plays a role in helping your consciousness to advance to a higher level.

The Doer is not a typical self-help – it is a lifecycle travel journal with all its ups and downs, learnings and inspirations at the same time indicating points to re-think in order to make your own existence richer and filled with purpose. The book is a reminder that everything that happened and every person you meet is there to give you the foundations to develop and live your life the best possible way.
Carpe diem and squeeze all the lemons you get to prepare the tastiest lemonade of your life you can 😉.

⏳It’s been ages since I read non-fiction and this book is pleasantly calming yet deep. What’s the purpose of your life? This question pops up in our minds now and then and we barely have time to introspect. But according to the author, even now, reading this review is also a part of serving your purpose.

Who is the better doer?
You or your ego?
Your ego should never be the one as it hampers your progress. Be it anything, the author lights up the aspects of life and the role the ego plays in it keenly. Her way of interpretation is quite lucid for the reader to assimilate the gist of all elements in this self-help book.

The mantra, love and freedom is what I found pretty interesting besides all the other parts. While highlighting the crucial factors such as love, freedom, ego, money, suffering, and discipline she also shares her story encouraging the readers to believe and upgrade in life. She speaks of complex thoughts in easy terms for the readers to get a better outlook on things in life.

This is a short spiritual read that aids the readers in gaining insights into everyday psychological well-being. In simple terms, it says learning is the key. The cover page is serene yet chasmic just like its chapters.

You're sitting in your favorite cozy nook, sipping on a cup of chai, when a friend hands you a book that promises to unravel the mysteries of existence. That friend is Rekha Nair, and the book is "The Doer." As I dove into its pages, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery unlike any other.

In "The Doer," Nair takes readers on a whirlwind adventure through the labyrinth of spirituality. With each turn of the page, she challenges us to shed the layers of ego and embrace the boundless freedom that comes with surrendering to the universe. This book isn't just a read; it's a transformative experience that leaves an indelible mark on the soul.

She weaves together intricate ideas with such finesse that you can't help but be drawn into her world. Her words dance off the page, painting vivid images that linger in the mind long after the book is closed.

While there aren't traditional characters in "The Doer," the ideas Nair presents are just as vibrant and compelling. From the pitfalls of ego to the beauty of interconnectedness, each concept is explored with depth and nuance. Nair's fresh perspective challenges readers to rethink their beliefs and embrace the magic of existence.

Forget linear narratives; "The Doer" is a tapestry of musings and reflections that invites readers to explore the depths of their souls. While some may find the lack of a clear plot disorienting, others will revel in the book's nonlinear structure as a reflection of life's unpredictable journey.

At its core, "The Doer" is a celebration of life's inherent spirituality. Nair's insights into detachment, acceptance, and love resonate on a profound level, urging readers to embrace the beauty of existence. Her passion for spirituality shines through on every page, infusing the text with a warmth and authenticity that is truly infectious. Plus, the book's nonlinear structure allows for endless exploration and discovery. While "The Doer" is a masterpiece in its own right, it may not be everyone's cup of chai. Some may struggle with the lack of a traditional narrative arc, while others may find certain themes too esoteric. Additionally, a deeper exploration of certain ideas could have enhanced the book's impact.

As someone on a lifelong quest for spiritual enlightenment, "The Doer" spoke to me on a deeply personal level. Nair's insights challenged me to rethink my beliefs and embrace the beauty of existence. While the book may not be for everyone, those willing to embark on a journey of self-discovery will find it to be an invaluable companion.

"The Doer" is a captivating odyssey through the realms of spirituality and self-discovery. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘳 is a memoir-cum-spiritual book that helps the readers find themselves and ‘their purpose’ through the process of self-reflection, self-inquiry, and self-realisation.

This book is an outcome of the author’s painful personal journey that was filled with ambitions and aspirations, which she elaborates on in the final chapter of the book, that paved the way for her quest towards soul-searching spiritual seeking and healing.

The author starts with the simple question: Who is the doer? The self (you) and the ego, or some external source of power. If ego is part of your ‘self’, how does it influence you as a ‘doer’?

Ms Nair then brings in the Indic concept of cosmic energy (force), which determines the outcome of your true purpose, which is already decided for you to act upon.

If you are into Hindu philosophy and metaphysics, you can relate to the author’s viewpoint, concepts, and intention to discuss these deep-life learnings for your inner spiritual growth.

In several instances in this book, she stresses the importance of letting go of the ego and also taming the ego correctly in order to improve one’s self-journey for becoming more liberated and freer and being your true self.

Here, the ‘purpose’ the author is exploring is ‘purpose for you in the cosmic force’, not accomplishing your selfish motives. That is, “We are not here to fulfil our desires. We are here to serve our purpose.”

Rekha examines various topics like hurt, suffering, validation, freedom, blame game, love, loss, life, illusion, money, discipline, manifestation, and a lot more during the course of her transformative travel.

She is clear that there is nothing called a right or a wrong path (choice), as every path (choice) leads to the ultimate destination (progress). The moment you divide it as right and wrong, ego creeps in and spoils the entire journey.

Similarly, she says that you are your own hero and villain, and the percentage of these two changes depending on the way you take control of your ego to reach your true higher self.

And the final chapter is all about herself and her challenging life and years of inner turmoil before she found a bright spot and her true purpose.

This slim book is so deep and dense in its dealings with metaphysical concepts that it takes time to understand and assimilate the true essence of those words and their intentions.

If you love spirituality and philosophy like me, then this book will be a treasure trove of knowledge and learning to find the doer in you. Glad, I read it!

"The Doer" written by Rekha Nair is a book consisting of 12 chapters that explores the concept of the ego as the doer and the role of destiny in our lives. The author delves into the idea that the ego believes it is in control and therefore expects certain outcomes, but when things don't go as expected, stress and fear arise. The book suggests that acceptance of the fact that everything is destined can help alleviate these negative emotions.

The author emphasizes that life is a journey of deepening experiences and realizations, leading to a deeper understanding of existence. It is mentioned that this process is not limited to one's own life but also extends to understanding the depth in everything around us.

A significant focus of the book is the author's relationship with money. It is mentioned that growing up, there was enough money but not an abundance to splurge. However, there came a point when the author had to start from scratch and work multiple jobs to support themselves. The author emphasizes the importance of not holding onto money tightly, as it gains power over us. Instead, the author suggests that the more we let money flow and place true values over it, the more it will come to us. The book also explores the power that comes from within and the wisdom of letting go of material desires.

While discussing money, the author also highlights the importance of understanding the energy that money brings and the responsibility of channeling it towards the right path. It is suggested that money can be a great teacher, and understanding its purpose can lead to freedom.

In-depth, the book explores the ego's belief of being in control and the impact of destiny on our lives. It delves into the author's personal relationship with money and the lessons learned from it. The book encourages readers to let go of material desires and find contentment within themselves, ultimately gaining power over money. The author also emphasizes the importance of using money responsibly and understanding its purpose.

Overall, "The Doer" provides a thought-provoking exploration of ego, destiny, and the role of money in our lives. It offers insights and perspectives that encourage readers to reflect on their own beliefs and behaviors.

I am someone who is not too much into spirituality but then being from the holy city of Rishikesh have always been fascinated by anything related to it. With the technological advancements dictating most terms in our life these days it has become utmost important to maintain a calm and composed demeanor to save ourselves from our mental turmoils.

"The Doer" captivates you in its optimism. It shares profound learning about how to stay positive most of the time and to look at the glass as half full rather than the other way round . It is not a quintessential self help book but conveys to the readers about the energy of cosmos and how it is the ultimate creator. Though the book is merely around 60 pages long but the little snippets of wisdom that author has left here and there do create an indelible imprint on one's psyche .

Lines like “Love and freedom are complimentary. If you love, you are free. If you are free, you love" , made me introspect a lot and how unreasonably we stay confused and clouded when life is pretty much sorted by its very ephemeral nature . The title is very apt as we human beings feel that we are the doer but its beyond that , we are just the mediums but its someone else in some other parallel world who is governing everything. If one has read Srimad Bhagavad Gita, the mother of all books that have ever been penned down or will ever be , he or she will be able to relate with the contents of this book as well .

Overall a really good read that makes you contemplate on a lots of things.

Rekha Nair's book "The Doer" takes us on a journey of self-belief and self-discovery. Author Rekha has penned down her heart, thoughts, and personal experiences, discussing spirituality, desires, intentions, purpose, hurt, healing, suffering, discipline, and more.

🔸"What desires you have doesn't matter, but it's the purpose that lies underneath the desire that makes all the difference."🔸

This book will make readers let go of ego, and they will also realize that it is not an easy task. With everything happening in our lives, we learn a lot. I got to know more about ego and self-respect. I completely agree with author Rekha's thoughts about money, that the more we worry about money, the less we have. Through this book, you will understand the value of money and the power it brings.

There are many lines in the book worth contemplating. It provides answers to many questions. The language used in the book is very simple. I would say that author Rekha's thoughts are deep and will inspire you on the road to self-discovery.

"The Doer" is more than just a self-help book. It is a short book that provides wisdom and will change your perspective about life.

"The Doer" by Rekha Nair embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery, guiding readers through the labyrinth of spirituality with clarity and insight. Through chapters like "What is Love?" and "What is the nature of the soul?", the author prompts introspection into fundamental aspects of existence, urging readers to question their roles as "Doers" in the grand scheme of life.

Rekha Nair's narrative style is both thought-provoking and accessible, inviting readers to contemplate the nature of ego, desire, and purpose. What resonated deeply with me was the author's exploration of pain as a transformative force, highlighting the interconnectedness of all beings and the importance of empathy and forgiveness. The book challenges conventional notions of control and accountability, offering a refreshing perspective on life's journey toward self-realization.

As I journeyed through its pages, I found myself captivated by the profound insights that inspired me to embrace the liberating power of letting go of ego. "The Doer" is a testament to the beauty of existence and the inherent wisdom that lies within each of us.

Reflection can be so powerful in our lives. In this book Rekha Nair shares with us her reflections and what it taught her on her personal and spiritual journey of not only the road to which she was able to come to the current peaceful life that she has now, but how that road also led her to discover the true meaning of self. Within this short book she was able to touch on multiple topics that we have all likely at some point wondered in our spiritual journey. If you haven’t ever considered who you truly are in this spiritual life then this book may be a good starting point to start that conversation. I can only hope that The Doer is just the first of many.
The beauty of the format of this book is that you can sit and read through the entire book all at once in one short sitting. You can also, however, use it as a book of reference. Read one small section for the day and allow yourself time to connect those thoughts and her meaningful explanations to your daily life. I am sure that I will be rereading this book very soon.
