This is probably one of the worst books i've read.

Not only it's a bad Goosebumps book to begin with but it's probably one of the worst idea to pad this as a special edition, some special editon books where the only special in them to be honest is the length, some have been good (Five Masks of Dr Screem), some have been okay (Zombie Halloween) and some are just disappointing (The 12 Screams of Christmas).

Basically we get probably not only the most badly written chatacters, atleast some bad written characters have some things making me react, like I dislike this person with a passion and sometimes, you gotta credit the author for making you feel that way, but in this is probably one of the most lifeless characters I've read in any books, they are way low level than a caracature of themselves.
The plot too, oh my god, it's probably okay as an idea as this little menace making a mess which is in some vains of the Living Dummy books and Lawn Gnomes but I do like them in some degrees because of the atmopshere and eerieness surrounding them but this one has nothing and it's just this little orange alien home invading these main characters, making a mess, puking and other things and this goes on for like 130 pages which is how I said it's a bad idea with this plot to make it a thick book, basically the repetitiveness of this ain't even fun, it's disgusting and just makes you crazy and how the titular title ends on isn't even satisfying which leads to the final part which is set in Horrorland which is probably okay but with these lifeless characters, I just have no mood anymore and I am just forcing myself to finish this already as this is uninteresting anymore.

Oh also, as a postscript, I decided to read this because of the spooky season just because this book has Halloween in the title and the Halloween aspect of this barely even matters nor does it contribute too much on the setting/atmosphere.

My sons (10 yr old twins) begged me to read one of their books. They picked this one out...I must admit that it was better than I thought it would be. I would recommend this for children who like creepy stories!

I bought this and had it signed by the author!!! Had to actually read it, of course.

Brought me back to my childhood reading days. It was a fast, easy, and fun read.

Fucking terrible in a lot of areas. Only reason it’s two stars is because of the opening fifty pages and some of the final act.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure what to make of this one. It certainly was weird, pun intended. In fact, it felt more like I was reading two different stories, where one is nested inside of the other, Inception style, instead of one.

The story begins with Meg and her brother Chris exploring the various attractions of Horrorland, a Halloween or horror themed amusement park. While there, Meg wins a prize and is told the following line, which best describes the remainder of this book.
“Don’t pay me now,” he said. “You can pay me back the next time you see me.”
Then, the story takes wild turn, with the introduction of a pesky little alien Bim, a Weirdo. This is where the book gets a little confusing, because Meg and Chris spend the next portion of the book trying to evict this little pest from their house, leaving the reader wondering what happened to Horrorland.

Overall, this book just didn't have the fervor that the classic Goosebumps books did. Whether it be the mystique, the eeriness, or the unnerving feeling you get reading R. L. Stine's books before going to sleep, this book just didn't make the cut.

Maybe more 2.5. It was just ok. I love the cover! The book felt like there were two different stories. We get one with the alien and then another with her trapped in horrorland. I enjoyed the horrorland parts the best. The descriptions of all the Halloween themed rooms are fun.

This book is about a brother and sister named Chris and Meg. It was Halloween, when their mother and father took them to horror land. Mag and Chris went to a store. Meg bought a floig. The store assistant told Meg to bring a little horror home with her, and she did. She never knew that the floig would bring her and her brother great trouble. when they both got home, they found a slimy ugly orange figure on Meg's bed. The 2 siblings where creeped out, when the monster told them that he was to stay in their home, and he called his friends to come live in their home too. The monster loved back rubs, so since it was in Meg's room, SHE had to do the back rubs. The monsters back was shiny and sweaty, and had lots of warts. The back gave off a strong odor that Meg and Chris had to cover their noses. When ever Meg and Chris got the monster angry, bim (the monsters name) did something horrible. Such as, rip up Meg's wooden antique dolls. Meg started to cry, but when bim got angry agin, he went to eat Birds and other animals also. So, they both got bim to angry, and Meg's friends Kelly and Carlos where their also. They started shouting mean remarks, until bim grew smaller and smaller, until he turned huge. Meg showed bim the floig she got from horror land and then bim stopped. He remembered what he came to earth for. He forgot his missing toy. Meg gave the toy to him willingly and watched him leave with her brother and friends. But then, bums friends came. They didn't see him at their house and left with bim too. TO BE CONTINUED.....

I think that Goosebumps HorrorLand Weirdo Halloween is a very good book because it has lots of chapters. The story is about a girl named Meg and her brother were at Horrorland just to play games they weren't very special guest they were just visiting HorrorLand like everybody then they went to a little shop in Horrorland and were looking around and saw an old man and he was behind a counter. He said that he owns this shop and you can have anything you want then that's when Meg got an floig then the old man said that you can pay me next time. Then their parents came to pick them up and they went home and the next day their parents left and their babysitter came and Meg and her brother both said hi and then babysitter told them she brought fish and she named one of them Meg.Then the next day Meg and her brother got ready for a Halloween Party at Megs friends house and while they were walking they saw a kid stuck in the bushes and they pulled him out and he said thank you then he left and they went to the friends house then about an hour later they were telling stories and then someone threw a stink bomb and everybody was going to be sick. Then in the middle of the story Bim got mad and turned into the monster and then Meg went to him and scratched his back and he began to change back to the good creature he is.The at the end of the story Meg is in Horrorland playing a game from Jhonathan and the game was to see who Meg actually was then she found a twin just like her.

Weirdo Halloween is an interesting and fun Goosebumps book. The first thing you'll notice is the length. The typical Goosebumps book is between 130 and 140 pages. But Weirdo Halloween checks in at 214 pages. As far as I know, this is the longest Goosebumps book ever. This is the result of a much longer HorrorLand story at the end.

In Weirdo Halloween, Chris and Meg bring back a doll called Floig from HorrorLand. But the real "villain" of the story is Bim, a small alien from the planet Werid. I put villain in quotations because he isn't much of a villain. Really, he just causes some mischief. He's funny though and his ending is really humorous. It turns out he came to Earth looking for Floig. When he finds it, he promptly goes back to his planet. Unfortunately, he invited his fellow weirdos to Earth for back rubs and fresh meat.

My favorite part of the book though is the time in HorrorLand. Of all the storylines in Goosebumps, HorrorLand is my favorite. It was really entertaining to see the theme park celebrating Halloween. We get to see different attractions as the story goes on. Anytime I get more depth to HorrorLand Park I'm happy.

So where does this rank? Well, the lack of a real villain hurts it a bit. While Bim was fun, I wish Chris and Meg had been in a bit more danger throughout. The HorrorLand portion is really good though and I hope we see more of this.

Okay, first of all: yes. Due to nostalgia, Goosebumps books are graded on a curve. But it's legitimately better than I expected.

This is actually my first "Revival Era" Goosebumps book, because I wanted a change of pace from all the classic Gothic horror that I've been reading this Halloween season. I was a bit concerned, because I knew the HorrorLand books have continuity and I wasn't sure how they work. (This is also a "Special Edition," though I think that just means it's longer than usual.) The result is a bit odd. "Part I" has the characters at HorrorLand, but only for four chapters—which, mind you, is less than 20 pages of a Goosebumps book—before Part II segues into another plot for 100ish pages, with Part III bringing us back to HorrorLand for the rest. So the book feels disjointed, as if two were spliced together.

Be that as it may, the story (stories?) are pretty good. There's some creepier stuff than I would have expected—for example, dead animals described in slightly gory detail—and Bim (whose name amusingly reminds me of a different diminutive alien) walks the line between ridiculous and threatening. The HorrorLand plot is also pretty good: it involves a lot of wandering from one attraction to another, but those attractions are also just eerie enough, and I rather liked the twist on the "I don't know which one to shoot" cliché. That said, the giant pie segment is a bit too silly, and the resolution——is...well, very Goosebumps, honestly. As in, I can think of two other entries (plus a Ghosts of Fear Street book!) with the same basic twist and, just like here, no foreshadowing. I'm annoyed and amused in equal measure.

Welcome friends, I’d like to present to you what I believe to be at the moment is the WORST GOOSEBUMPS BOOK OF ALL TIME.

This book took me months on end to finish because I simply received burn out after barely making it through the first two segments of the book.

The book starts out with an opening HorrorLand segment, and a pretty lame one. All of these HorrorLand segments never do much for me, and it feels they add even less to the overall story than the arc 1 books. And to those not informed, thats a BAD thing.

The main story is cringe, hard to read, and has what has got to be one of the worst characters Stine has possibly ever written, Bim. Bim is the reason this book sucks major donkey nuts, he ruins just about any redeemable moments in the entire plot.

Well incase you didn’t want this pile of fucking shit to end there, theres ANOTHER HORRORLAND SEGMENT for all you diehards to enjoy. And it also fucking SUCKS. What do I even say about this? Although it has some nice halloween atmosphere, shouldn’t every halloween book have that? I mean talk about a pointless way to kill more trees to produce the paper for the millions of copies of this book out there.

“Special Edition” my ass. My Taco Bell diarrhea is more special than this putrid infected rat turd of a book.

"Take a little horror home With you!"

Meg, and her brother Chris, are having a spooky time at Horrorland, until they stumble upon a gift shop named Chiller house, where they meet the owner Jonathan Chiller, who seems to be surprisingly dubious.

Later on Halloween night Meg and her brother, encounter an alien baby named Bim. Who has reaked havoc in thier lives, and refuses to leave! Meg is later transported to back to Horrorland, where in order to escape, she must prove that she is Meg herself!

The first special edition book in the horrorland chiller arc, was more of a double book. The first half focusing on Bim the alien, and the latter on the escape from horrorland. Bim the alien, was unbelievablely annoying, but it was a good story, but it needed more substance. The second half, was overly stuffed with unnecessary plotlines in order to scare the reader, some of which weren't important enough. Coupled, with R.L Stines brilliant writing, this isn't one of the best horrorland books, but a good one nonetheless.

This will probably be my last book of 2024. Kind of a fitting place to end it because much like my reading year this was bizarre and not entirely satisfying.

It was almost like two books mashed together into one- with the weirdo part being the first book and weird carnival being the second. Stine threw in everything but the kitchen sink. There was creepy carnival horror. There were weird aliens. There were dolls. There were robots. I think there was a haunted house and a doppelgänger and a deadly game.

And it kinda worked? None of it was bad but it just felt like it dragged on a little too long. Most of his books hover right at the 120 page mark, and this was 214. So I missed some of the quick pacing and cheap thrills.

Anyway. Won’t be the last from him.

Weirdo Halloween by: R.L Stine is a book about two kids Meg and Chris and when they go to a horror amusement park they pick up a scary stuffed animal, but turns out it is a alien that tortures Meg and Chris. Meg and Chris have to try to stop this alien before it destroys the town and kills everyone.

I thought this wasn't the best book I have read because it didn't have the best story line.

I rated it a three star because I still think there could have been a better story line and make it a little more scarier.

La historia no es mala (excepto por las cosas que come Bim), pero el tema es que el libro termina con un cliffhanger tan gigantesco que me hace dudar que la lectura valga la pena..

This story is actually good and worth the time . I have always loved horror, I know I am 15 and this book is supposed to be for 8-year-olds but that doesn't matter. I loved how it ended, rl stine writes amazing endings it was an amazing book filled with a lot of characters and the siblings Med and Chris's bond is actually amazing. I loved how the author used words for Bim like '' my feelings sad '', and'' my feelings happy '' which give me a lot of vibes about the '90s horror movies. For anyone looking for horror, this is the right book.

5/10

I honestly didn’t hate this one, the first part in Horrorland was kinda average, and the second part with Bim was kind of boring and repetitive, but it had some cool moments. The final part in Horrorland again was actually really cool and it had a creepy atmosphere, and the psychological horror was pretty nice.

The reason I rated it kind of low is because of how much filler it has, there is no need for this book to be double the length of the others in the series.

I don’t highly recommend this one, but it’s not terrible.

The beginning of a new scary adventure from R.L. Stine. I didn't realized that this book was the beginning of a new mini-series (Goosebumps Horrorland) under the Goosebumps series. It was a nice surprise to discover that this book left off on a cliffhanger. My son & I are looking forward to reading the next installment. There was a bit of slow part in the middle of the story involving the alien, but picked up as we got closer to the end and renewed our interest with the ending cliffhanger.

Bim, an alien baby, is rescued by Meg after it was entangled in a hedge.
And how is she repaid for this act of kindness?
By destroying parties, killing animals, and asking for back rubs.
And don't you dare anger his feelings.

.

Later, in HorrorLand, Meg is trapped. She has another Meg to compete against. And the only way she can prove she is who she is is by proving that she is real. But how can he when even her own brother doesn't think she's the real one.

This was one of the better Horrorland books. It was very hard to put down at times. Full of fun and surprising twists and turns and some very bad luck. The monsters in here are truly that...MONSTERS!!! Very very annoying monsters and a very crazy shop owner, who we gain a little info about at the end, which I loved very much. Why is Jonathan Chiller so evil? Well...read the book and find out.

I Read this about 2-3 years ago but I still remember it very well. I love every single goosebumps books from R.L Stine he makes you feel like the character. Every ending of this series always surprises me and that's what I loved about this book and others. Throughout this book had me on the edge of my seat where I couldn't put it down.

My first ever Goosebumps book that I own and read back in 2015!
What can I say, it is a rollercoaster from beginning to end. Pacing is not an issue. This is a longer Goosebumps book which means we as readers get to spend more time with the protagonist in different situations and locations—highly recommended if it's your first time reading Goosebumps!

Bim is a little orange alien that shows up wearing a blue T-shirt, red shoes, and a diaper. Yes, a diaper. This is never explained, not even once, do not ask. This is the least of his problems...he eats squirrels, dude. Anyway, I hated the way this thing ended. What is Jonathan Chiller's problem?!

Weirdo Halloween is about Meg and Chris being visited by a strange alien who wants to turn the children into his servants. The story is strange, but also memorable, it succeeds in bringing the suspenseful atmosphere to the readers. Overall, the storywriting was fantastic and I loved readint it.
