Despite reading a few reviews that disliked the similarities to Ice Planet Barbarians or that there was a language barrier for 60% of the book, I honestly disagree. Those were things that I really enjoyed and liked about this book! Ice Planet Barbarians is original in its storyline and hooked a lot of people into the alien romance genre, myself included. This book takes some similarities to that story which makes it feel nostalgic in some ways, but it also throws its own fresh and new twists into things. There are no cooties in this book. It's like a snowy tundra on earth, where human women can adapt.
While there are some icey planet similarities, I loved the originality in the Wolf Shifters and their culture. The whole third eye aspect was really interesting and unique too. It really helped Axyll and Evie communicate on sensing things, despite the language barrier. I loved their connection and how attentive Axyll was to Evie's needs. The whole wolf hierarchy was well written and interesting to see in alien culture. I also really liked their tie to the moon and their whole religious aspect. I think it's neat how their culture differs from the other wolf packs religious and cultural beliefs.
One last thing I want to note is how badass these women are! They've been through a lot and are so resilient! I can't wait to read on and see how things unfold with their search and rescue for the other women who were separated, in the next few books.
If you love Mars Needs Women, Fated Mates and IPB Vibes Meets Wolf Shifters, then this is the book for you!
