Good Night San Diego by Adam Gamble and Cooper Kelly is a different take on the famous book Good Night Moon. One of the different aspects of the book is the illustrations are all of the day time until the last three pages of the story. The story can also be informative about different location the San Diego area. Although the title is a spin Night Moon, the content is not the same.

When reading the peritext (on the back of the book) the reader finds out Good Night San Diego is just one book in a series called Good Night Our World. Using the foundation of the book Good Night Moon for a series of books to introduce young children to places they may have never been is a great idea. Parents could use the books as a way to introduce their child to a city they may be going to visit on vacation. The author leaves opportunities for the reader and child to discuss what they see on each page.

The illustrations are cartoon like. The illustrator uses very defined and straight lines so that the reader’s eye does not get distracted. It is easy to pick out and see every image that is shown in the illustration. The use of bright colors on every page by the illustrator sets a cheerful mood. Any child would be interested in visiting San Diego after seeing all the fun there is have in each illustration.

Great book to explain to kids San Diego and all the wonderful places it holds. Also just fun for parents and could even give you a good tour guide yourself.
