Rate this book
Sienna Vale, a refined lady with a flawless reputation, conceals her adventurous nature behind a facade of propriety. When an old friend, Arthur Caldwell, resurfaces, her carefully constructed world begins to unravel. Terrified of revealing her true self, Sienna grapples with conflicting emotions as Arthur rekindles memories of their past. Meanwhile, the man she was previously courting proposes to her, forcing her to choose between a planned life with him and the man who has always held her heart.

Will this dilemma require a decision that will irreversibly change her life?

Arthur Caldwell, the Earl of Arundel, returns to England after years abroad, aiming to fulfill familial and societal expectations. However, his reunion with Sienna challenges the path laid out for him. Despite rumors and a disapproving suitor, Arthur seeks to revive their friendship, while simultaneously realizing that mere friendship is not enough for him. As they navigate external pressures and personal desires, Arthur and Sienna must decide whether to defy expectations and embrace their enduring connection or succumb to the demands of convention.

Will Arthur risk everything for a love that defies the constraints of tradition?

Amid threatening suitors, poisonous rumors, and societal obstacles, Arthur and Sienna struggle with their shared history and evolving feelings. Despite the challenges, their hearts remain steadfast, prompting them to question what sacrifices they are willing to make for a chance at true love. Will their connection prove strong enough to withstand norms or will they be forced to stay away from each other?

I gave this book only three stars because while the storyline was brilliant (in my opinion) there were several ont of time-context phrases and words that a proofreader/editor ought to have caught before publishing. One in particular was the word "proactive" used by Lady Danielle speaking to Alex. The word wasn't in use until 1930.

Other instances were the use of "tell her to get lost"; another, example: Charlotte says to her mother, "Just don't, Mother" and that's and informal retort I hear from my kids -- it's doubtful that even in a fit of fury such a phrase would be used.

When Carole said, "Oh, for sure!" I about LOST IT, because even in the most informal conversation, such a thing wouldn't have been said even between the best of friends. There are more of these "time-bombs" throughout the book that were a bit off-putting to me.

The storyline IS really great. Friends since childhood, Charlotte and Alex face the daunting task of renewing their friendship after Alex returns from 5 years away. Throw in some overbearing parents, a seriously rude older brother, a suitor that drips dread with nearly every step he takes; you've got a tale that keeps pages turning LONG after bedtime.

I've noticed in quite a few Kindle Edition books, spelling and grammar checkers seem to be the only tool being used to check for errors. The flow of the story is smashed like a bug on the windshield every time an erroneous colloquialism appears. (Yes, I am an incredibly picky reader!)

A good editor and proofreader are desperately needed to bring this story up to the level of excellence I'm sure this author is capable of.

Excellent read!

Sienna Vale decided to become the perfect lady everyone expected her to be leaving behind her boyish ways. Or at least most of the time. Entering into a courtship with Blair was expected she long ago gave up on her long lost friend, Arthur. At least until he came back home throwing her life in a spin. This is a great love story with an surprise filled plot and very engaging characters. Many upside and downs but will true love find a way?

An earls return to loves embrace.

The cover was beautiful but the title was confusing and with more than 400 pages it was a challenge .But when I started to read I could not stop until I finished without skipping any page. It would have been a revolution then when a n earl married a common actress and his sister married a bastard.Nice and enjoyable and can be read by people of all ages.

Beautiful journey of adventure and love

I absolutely loved the characters and amazing story line. All the adventure and romance make this a hard to put down book, extremely enjoyable! The story of Arthur and Sienna is very interesting and complicated but their love for each other is stronger than anything sent their way. I enjoyed all the turns and twists that made this story more engaging.Love the extended epilogue with its happy ending!

The heroine, her brother and the hero were very close as children until the hero’s family moved to India. He comes back after his father’s death and tries to reconnect with his old friends. The heroine has a suitor who becomes a little obnoxious at times. Will they be able to get through the obstacles to have a HEA? His mother is a piece of cake. It was a book that held my interest.

An Earl's Return to Love's Embrace

The story was good but it left a lot of questions. Who kept the letters from Arthur. Maybe it was answered in the extended epilogue. Why was Arthur's mother so opposed.
