"Thunder on the Chisholm Trail" is a historical adventure novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cliffhangers, only pure unadulterated action.
Pretty good read. Likeable characters, but hard to believe they all got together. The location of the story went from rolling plains like Kansas to mountains like the base of the Colorado's about 2 days away by horse. About two full days in daylight or about 60 miles. They did it at night. Well..... An Indian sidekick, not named Tonto, who speaks with no accent or syntax difficulties left me waiting for the announcement he was a Harvard grad - but it never came. I can't really give this a strong recommend, but I can't say not to read, either.
Another exceptionally innovative story by an outstanding Author!
Five stars, and more, for this captivating western folklore masterpiece, as you will find, as I did, you cannot put the book aside until the epilogue has been read! Some of the most outstanding, and definitely entertaining, storylines I have had the opportunity to read! And I have read a few! No slowdowns throughout the entire series of entertaining adventures that will pacify anyone's desired expectations from beginning to end! Too, the exceptionally selected characters are unsurpassed in their respective assignments throughout the entire series of unending excitement! Without hesitation, I recommend this compelling series of one exciting adventure after the other to all readers, regardless of your normal reading pleasures! I was unable to put this on aside until the last paragraph was absorbed! This included the epilogue, as well!!!😃
A criminal had taken over the town, and Eliza was leading a group of people who resisted the criminal. Jack, a reformed criminal, came to town and helped with the resistance. The book had a lot of action, and good strong characters. It is an enjoyable read.
This is a story about an outlaw so upset with an another outlaw gang that he decides to become good. Strange but in this case with the right woman beside him it works. Definitely had to fight to get his chances but in the end it was worth it.
A good storyline but very repetitive overall, it made it hard to read and enjoy. I did like the story overall just not the way it was written, seemed like a short story with a bunch of words added to make it longer.
Thunder on the Chisholm Trail: A Historical Western Adventure Novel Henry McConley
45’s are only accurate in the movies and in dime novels. The kind this author specializes in writing; at last count 57 to be exact. As with most Westerns hand guns and outlaws are involved and as usual there’s a damsel in distress. No one would accuse this of being great literature but it’s an okay time-waster. Having subscribed by dint of having accepted a freebie this author spews out several issues of author spam a day. He either has several pen names or there is a grouping of similar authors who trade mailing lists.
Jack is 34, middle-aged for the time. His horse is saddle broke, how well it would have reacted to traces and being put between shafts is open to question. Towns controlled by outlaw gangs were a common occurrence in many parts of the American West at the time. Cattle rustling continues to this day.
