Alright there will be spoilers but I wanted to say I'm giving this a 2.5 I just can't bring myself to do the 3, and I rated the last one a 4!

When I review a book lower than a three I try to solely hit the good and the bad and keep it straightforward so here we go.

Good:
I like this overall idea of a war between the hunters and the beastia. Even better that we have someone controlling the animals and there is some sinister plot behind it all.
Hmm. Honestly. The overall plot and suspense level is why this got a 2.5 because I have a lot of negatives.

Bad:
The plot is both good and bad. We have this overarching story that pulls you in, but at the same time it's disjointed and chaotic. We hear information from several people and it just gets repeated for several chapters with no real movement forward.

The guys had more pov this time. Which usually when a guy gets pov you get a deeper look into who they are and why as a romance reader you should love them. These guys just pine after the fmc and think about her. Where is the growth? The plot? Just anything. I like the sweet thoughts but at a certain point why keep complaining about your relationship with her.

Omg. MEYER IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. after my review I'm going to read the one for the first book and see if I hated her as much as I did the entire book. She whines, complains, then gets "stabby" no real character growth has happened. She's always messing up plans but just doing what I want. Just everything about her sucks and I'm so over her.

Honestly I think I'm just disappointed. I like this authors others series but this one just is not where it needed to be.

What. The. Fuck. Meyer?!?! And that second plot twist, I knew it!! But how?? Why?? And why did we get that person’s POV?? And then the plot twist in the beginning with Valen?!?! But what we learn about Meyer too, I DID NOT see that coming.

It was so cool learning about the brothers and more about Meyers dream walking. Like there’s definitely more to her story, and I can’t wait to learn more!! I LOVED seeing everyone’s jealousy and concern for Meyer come out. Like anytime Jordan, Theo or any other male would be near or touching Meyer, the brothers got crazy jealous🤭🤭. And I loved any scene with Valen, he was so precious. I loved seeing more of Razar’s personality, especially around Meyer. Like this man thinks her emotions are contagious because he started to care for her🤭🤭. Like I uh uh, that’s all you mister. AND I love seeing them in battle together because of how protective they are of each other. Plus I love seeing him fight over Milo with Meyer 🤣, it’s so funny and cute. And I need more of Theo and Jordan 😭😭. Like we barely saw them this book, and I just want to see them TOGETHER TOGETHER.

Anyway, that twist was INSANE. Like what the heck?? I cannot wait for the next book to come out to see how the plot AND the relationships to unfold.

Favorite quotes/scenes:

“Valen had become my safe place, the person I unknowingly relied on, even though I’d never truly met him.”

“I can feel an obsession starting to take hold. I can only hope that she will forgive me once I tell her the truth about her world, because it’s far too late to put distance between us. Meyer is mine, and I will do whatever it takes to convince her of that fact.” (Valen)

“I went weeks with only glimpses of your face. I spent countless hours waiting and wondering when you would call me to you again. I don't like it when you look away from me.” (Valen)

“What she doesn't realize is she is mine to protect; only she will not be my princess but my queen.” (Valen)

“She thinks her anger and hatred will keep me from her, but little does she know it will only encourage me more. It's like a damn shot to the groin when I see my Little Demon fight back. The way she stays strong, even though she is heavily outmatched? At first, it annoyed me, but quickly became endearing, and now I’m obsessed with the little spitfire on the other side of the door.” (Lennox)

“The day I saw you for the first time here at the Castle was the first time I didn't hate my life here.” (Creed)

“This doesn't mean I forgive you.” (Meyer)
“That’s okay. I’ll earn it back, baby. Just don't shut me out.” (Creed)

“Because, at this point in my life, even with everything that's going on… Meyer is all I care about, and there is no point in fighting if I can't have her in the end.” (Creed)

“I know the moment she wakes, I will be back to her biggest nemesis, and honestly, I wouldn't change that. Her anger and stubbornness intrigue me, and I crave it all.” (Lennox)

“You don't talk much, do you?” (Meyer)
“I would, but you won't shut up long enough for a person to get a singular word in.” (Razar)

“I would like that. To romance you. I already know I like you, Meyer, but I want to know you. To be a part of your life and help you navigate our world together.” (Valen)

“There is just something about my dream guy that makes me calm… He silences all the doubt and pain I feel and brings me back to myself—the lighthouse in the raging storm that is my life.”

“I know you still have Milo, and I want him back.” (Meyer)
“Tiny Monster is mine. Find your own feline.” (Razar)
“What?! Milo is mine! You catnapped him from my cabin, and I want him back! You get your own feline.” (Meyer)

“I feel entranced, like I’m spelled whenever she’s around. Meyer is a drug that I will gladly and wholly lose myself to.” (Creed)

Even better than the first

Book two, especially the latter half is really starting to get fun. Meyer (love her name) is starting to step into her own and I am so excited to see what she can do. Book one was a little challenging for me because the guys, or at least two of them were not likeable and Meyer was definitely a "soft" human, physically at least, and could not stand up to them with more than snark. That's definitely changing as her powers start to unlock towards the end this second release. I'm super curious to see what happens with Jesthup, he could honestly go either way. I predict he will be evil but it's tough to say for sure based on the interactions so far. That last chapter was certainly tense and filled with action. Quite the cliffhanger though. Looking forward to book three!

2 stars — meyer is intolerable, insufferable and incompetent for 415 pages
how is she 26 and behaving like a hormonal teen?? and the amount of shouting she does?? it makes no sense to me
the plot just didn’t move fast enough for me (how are they STILL at the castle??) and the plot twists were predictable 😩
my saving grace? valen 🫶🏻

also on a side note, why is monroe considered a main character?? we had more interaction with elaine than with him 🫥

I had the privilege of being an ARC reader. It hasn’t released yet and I’ve read it twice. Parts of it more than twice. Clemton continues to keep you and her characters on your toes with these curve balls. I am loving how the story is unfolding and you’re getting a peek at other layers and aspects of the characters. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book because it was a heck of a cliffhanger!

Wow. We got to learn more about the guys in this book. I always thought the guy Meyer was dreaming of was Archer, the long lost brother, but instead it was someone they hadn’t mentioned before. I kept thinking Archer would pop up but nothing really happened.
Meyer learns what all the guys are and they are not really the bad guys. They have enemies and beasts they are afraid of too and it frustrates the guys that Umbra Hunters can’t tell the Beasties from a Demon. I’m glad Elaine was in a position of power. I did find it weird that no women were in places of power, just guys.
Meyer was mad at Creedence for a good portion of the book. He lied by omission, and Meyer never let him forget it. Meyer is a violent character, she has no real strength to her friendly not so friendly punches to her friends and guys. They all say it’s her Demon side coming out.
Creedence fell for her the moment he heard her name in the first book. He’s the happy go lucky playboy of the group, but he falls for Meyer hard. He took it hard that she didn’t trust him anymore and promised to earn her trust back.
Nox or Lennox, I had a love hate relationship with him,m. He’s so bossy, and peeved me off when he ordered her around. Reading her emotions when she converses with Nox is completely natural, even when she sasses back. She bends without truly bending which just intrigues Nox even more. He didn’t realize he liked defiant women.
Raz, spoke more words in this book than the previous. He vehemently stated he would like to kill and get rid of Meyer so there’s less drama but you could tell the longer he spent around Meyer the more he gentled around her. He no longer wants to murder her and you could tell his own inner beast was half in love with her, but Raz the man doesn’t like sappy feelings so is taking a min to get over his massive disdain for the tiny female half blood demon half blood Hunter. He’s so impressed with Milo, Meyers cat. Milo hates Raz, which impressed Raz with his violent scratching and biting. Tax respects the demon streak the cat has with him.
Valen, I felt so sorry for him in the first book. Stuck in perpetual darkness. Only seeing Meyer when she pulled him into her dream. I’m glad she got him free. He was missing for 4 long years, and his brothers had no idea he was in the old church behind the academy their whole time there. Valen and Meyer had a special relationship. She dreamed of him, and he didn’t lie or steal her blood like Creed did.
I loved her friends, Theo and Jordan, I hope they realize they are perfect for each other, they seem like the perfect friends to Meyer. Can’t wait to read the next one!
That ending, I knew she wouldn’t leave Razar even though he’s been a bully to her, it’s the turning point for him. Her taking the arrow meant for him goes to show how much she values him and I think it also opens his own eyes to her. Not just someone he has to protect his brothers from, but to also protect her alongside them. This is his epiphany and it was written beautifully, frig I hope she survives. I don’t think any of them will survive without her. Raz included. Guess Archer really isn’t dead hey? I hope he wasn’t, but when the female lead character described someone from her dream, I was thinking of Innanis. The god they found inside the black onyx coffin. They are trying to make sure the bad umbra hunter’s and seniors get ahold of the god being held in that coffin, because he is Bad news. He’s the reason Dream Walkers are no more. The dream that she has every night that Valen has to save her from. I think Innanis has been reaching out to her since she’s close like Valen did. Man I wish the next one was out! The seniors have been capturing Royal Demons and harnessing their magic for their own, carving into humans symbols that draw the strong beasties in through the rifts they are creating. In the end most humans die, their fear excites the beasties and if a good umbra hunter isn’t there to save the human, they usually die. This was all discussed in this book. The final fight against beasties, wraiths, umbra hunters. They are all being controlled. No one seems to
Figure it out before Raz catches Meyer who caught an arrow meant for Raz. Shot from his own twin brother. Archer, the one they all thought died. Can’t wait for the next one!

I love the magical system in this world and this second book does give some more in depth information about Dream Walkers, the Hunters, the battle of Beasts and of course, some family secrets.
Meyer finds herself as n the midst of chaos as she is unsure who is a friend and who is a foe.

I did appreciate Meyer's strong - will not to easily forgive and forget as betrayal is a bitter pill to swallow. However, with the luring danger, the FMC does put feelings on the side to try and navigate this complicated reality she finds herself in. It was nice seeing the interaction between the brothers and learn more about their life.

Although all MMCs are unique, I absolutely love Razar. The constant banter between him and Meyer over Milo is fabulous. There is just something about the quiet, vicious type that lures you in instantly. At the same time the push and pull between the main heroine and Nox is reaching its peak, so who knows what that may lead to. Creed has been nice from the start, despite withholding the truth from Meyer, and he did work hard here to make amends. Valen is probably the most down to earth brother or so it seems, but it is evident that the emotional bond he shares with the FMC is probably the strongest. Romance is slow to come here and I actually do appreciate that. Aside from the blooming romance between some characters, the strong friendship with Theo, Jordan and Elaine is a pleasure to experience.

I still think there is more to Meyer's heritage that is hidden. After that cliffhanger, I hope some more light would be shred on that.

Bm Clemton has done it again. I thought the cliffhanger of the first book was nuts, but noooooo. This book hits you just as hard. That ending has me counting down the minutes until I get the next one in my hands. Meyer has some great growth moments in this book. Both personally and in her relationships. The tension between her and Nox continues to grow. We get to learn even more about Valen and Creed continues to be his lovable self. Razar is Razar, a man of few words and lots of grunts. Also his obsession with the cat is everything. I laughed every time Milo came up “missing”. It was great to get some more pov chapters from the guys to see where their heads are at in some of these moments. The chaos from the end of the first book continues into this book. I devoured it. I had a hard time putting this book down so I could work. Work was really getting in the way of my reading by time. I’m so excited to see where this series continues and where our characters go. Especially since I have more questions than answers at this minute.

That’s how you left us at the end!? I am so excited for the third book now, I need the answers to just what the heck is happening.

This series has been so captivating and has kept me entertained from the very beginning. Book 1 was amazing and book 2 was no different, picking up exactly where book 1 left us. This world that the author has built is unique and I love the characters. Meyer has great character growth during this book and is really holding her own against all these alpha men. There are some truly laugh out loud moments and ironically they involved the most dangerous brother, Razar. Him and Milo, the cat he literally catnaps frequently from Meyer, are so funny. Nox and Razar are probably my favorite alphaholes. The twists and turns, the suspense and drama, and of course, the spicy scenes were all so good and I can’t wait to see how this next cliffhanger plays out.

I have been in a reading slump and when I saw this book come out I was BEYOND thrilled. The author makes me want to start reading 24/7 all over again and my love for reading is renewed. I am never disappointed by the characters and the pace of the book. I truly am beyond excited to see where the characters go and I am in LOVE with all of them. The dynamics are amazing to read and so enjoyable. At one point I literally was dancing around my house with my dogs who got so excited with me because *I* was so excited. It was such a wholesome moment in my house with my pups and it’s all thanks to this amazing book and even more amazing author. I wish she had more books I could greedily binge and I cannot wait for the next one!

I am hooked! I have to say this author never lets me down! I have never read anything by them that I haven’t loved they are an insta buy for me!

We pick up pretty much right where we left off at the end of book one with Meyer going through it with the boys. I absolutely loved watching her learn more about herself, and her interactions with the brothers. They had some making up to do ( some still do 👀) but watching them navigate their feelings was awesome.

This book was a wild ride and I have all the questions and theories for the next one which I can not wait for cause that cliff hanger was insane!

If you are considering this author do yourself a favour and give them a go cause you won’t regret it!

This book was so good, the author is great at cliffhangers which i don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing because i want to know what happenes now but the suspense makes knowing better. In this book we got to see more of Razar which im very happy about as he’s quickly becoming my favourite character and his and Meyer fighting over Milo i so funny. we get to see Meyers relationships with all the boys develope and Meyer herself develope into even more of a badass than she already was. The authors has a way of creating characters that hook you and drag you into the story, you even love the side characters as much as the main characters , i can’t wait for the rest of the story to unfold especially after this cliffhanger.

I have to say, she did it again. I really enjoyed this book, and would even venture to say I loved it more than the first one. It’s not high steam, so if that’s what you’re looking for you may be disappointed. Great story line and the characters are starting to really show their true selves. There is so much mystery left to be discovered. I love the fight between Razar and Meyer over Milo. Hilarious. The second half was really really good and made it hard for me to put the book down. Overall i love this series and it is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Second book syndrome?
Definitely NOT!

Book 2 of Umbra Hunters was just as engaging as book 1 in the series. We continue to learn more about the demon brothers and how corrupt the Umbra Hunters have become. We are also treated to an FMC who does not forgive and forget lies and betrayal too quickly.
(Finally! A girl who doesn't roll over just because the men are hot! Make them work for it!)

While some aspects of the story were slightly predictable , Meyer's story continues to be one of the more unique reads I've come across in recent memory. I'm 100% looking forward to book 3!

PS - I need more Milo/Razar/Meyer scenes STAT!

Dropped into a world that she didn’t even know existed a few months ago, Meyer is quickly discovering that everything about this new world she’s been living in was a lie. Unsure who to trust, she rushes to free her Dream Man. Only to discover that he has also been keeping secrets.

I absolutely adore this series. Book two was just as amazing as book one. I can’t wait for the next one. I’m so excited that it looks like the harem might be growing, can’t wait to see if it’s true.

So I enjoyed the first book of this series, but this second one I couldn’t put down! I don’t really know how to put things into words without spoilers, so I’ll just say that I really enjoyed the character interactions, the plot/mystery that wasn’t too predictable, and the twists to keep you guessing. In the last book, Valen was my fav, but surprisingly Razor is working his way up, likely due to his interactions with Milo 😆 Still not a fan of Nox, but hopefully he’ll turn around eventually, like Gabriel in Black Veil. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Another great read by B.M. Clemton! The story picks up right where the first one left off and it sucked me in that I couldn't put it down. Meyer is a strong female lead and takes crap from no one which I love. She's pulled in so many directions but stands up for herself as she tries to figure out her place. The author threw a twist in there, which i saw coming but loved even more. Can't wait for book number three!

Ahh.. Revenge is a dish best served cold. That's how the saying goes, however, the revenge in book two is something else. So many plot twists, and now I am crying waiting for book three to be finished. Meyer is a k.a. FMC and highly underestimated. There is always more than what seems to be going on, and I have more questions than ever. Book two ends in a major cliffhanger, so read with caution. However, so worth the read.

That ending has me eager and impatiently wanting the next book Sept 24 is soooo far away, Meyer is finally starting to find her way and man the way she handles Nox I've never been more proud, and she definitely deserves Valen after all Nox put her through, although he is starting to redeem himself. If you are looking for your next amazing book read this series is a definite must read.

What. Just. Happened. How could you end it with that cliffhanger?! First of all I KNEW a certain someone would be back! The stories just weren’t lining up for me, but for him to do THAT?! These next few months are going to be brutal! I need to know what happens next! It’ll be interesting to see how Jesthren fits into all of this. I absolutely cannot wait for book 3!

I was an ARC reader and here is my honest opinion:

I read this book in a day—- A DAY PEOPLE. It’s SO freaking good. B.M. Clemton is one of my favorite authors, for sure! You need to give this series a read and HURRY.

Meyer— bless her. She’s a curvy, sassy, sarcastic stubborn FMC and she’s so violent! It’s an absolute blast to see her interact with the MMCs and her besties!

Lennox. Valen. Creed. Razar. —- NO ORDER. They are all my favorites. Especially my serial killing shadow stalker! I love the possessiveness and their DEMONS. What more can I say?

If you need a dose of:

Banter
Spice
Tension
Enemies to lovers to enemies
Possessive alpha demons
Dagger to the Throat

You’ll love this book just like me! I mean I literally died laughing at some parts. Some parts I’m blushing and fanning myself. Some parts I’m just as pissed as Meyer! I CANT WAIT FOR BOOK 3!!

Spice 🌶️🌶️

What in the actual 🤬🤬🤬🤬 was that ending!!! I HATE cliffhangers because they leave my mind in such a mess and this was one hell of a cliffhanger….but I cannot wait for book 3…like, literally…this is going to destroy me. However, this book would have received 5⭐️ if it weren’t for that ending, it was so good. You should definitely read it…like NOW!

I absolutely love that B.M. Clempton is able to bring to life a strong fmc who is able to use her strengths to her advantage but also admit her weaknesses at the same time.

We find out so much more about the guys but it just leaves us wanting more. Relationships are forming and growing all across the board and there is just so much information in this book that you get 1 question answered but it leaves you with 3 more unanswered questions. I have so many theories about what could be going on that it makes this book, not only a great read but a fun puzzle to try and piece together. I will be reading book 1 & 2 again and again in anticipation for the next release.

Please let the release date move up and please, please, please let there be a spicy scene with Razar in it 😈

I'm actually not even sure I can put into words this book, having just finished it...

Let's just get it out of the way now, Razar is life, he's my favourite, MINE!

Oh my oh my, how we've progressed since book 1. Meyer is finally getting her claws properly out (even if she doesn't know yet she literally has them, so can't wait until she freaks out about that) and her spine straight. Even if forgiveness was maybe a tad too quick for my liking. The book had me at the edge of my seat the whole team, and couldn't put it down for nothing! Absolutely love when I can get all the emotions from reading, and this one had heartbreak, comedy, romance and thriller galore.

Love the push and pull with Lennox and those couple of interactions at then end, DAMN!

There's so many threads and some of them I picked up along the way and was right but others... surely not?!?! What even was that ending? Anxiously awaiting the next one
