"Kiss of Death" is Book 3 in the Giselle Norwood Medical Thriller series, written most excellently by Audrey Walker. Giselle Norwood is a Forensic Pathologist in the Washington D. C. Medical Examiner's Office. She has always preferred working with dead people, rather than live individuals, because she considered herself to have a poor bedside manner when it came to the living. However, her Grandmother Miriam was a holistic healer, telling Giselle that she, Giselle, also had the gift. Giselle was practically raised by her grandmother and she witnessed a traumatic event when she was nine years old. She had forgotten all about it before an Italian priest reminded her of it. He had known her grandmother, and he, too, believed Giselle was a healer. This is just one storyline of this book, but it plays out in the last few chapters of the book when she has to save Andre's life.
This episode is about the serial killings of lovers, as well as couples who are not lovers. The killings began 28 years before, in 1995, when several couples were found in their cars, in a lover's lane scenario in San Diego, California. Each couple was shot in the forehead, and then posed in a specific way, and included a card with a Latin phrase printed in all capital letters. After several couples were murdered, the killings stopped. Giselle's investigator, Hank, was the lead detective on that case, known as The Lover's Lane Killer. Fast forward to 2023: the killings start up again, only this time the people murdered are not lovers. Dr. Paul Sorensen and his assistant Tiffany are the first to be murdered. A police detective and his male witness are the second couple murdered. Then, there are a couple of murders that were made to look like suicides, but were not. Giselle does the autopsies on all of these victims and comes up with some very interesting findings regarding their toxicology panels. One of the murders connects to a young woman who was molested and murdered 28 years before. Why was there such a long gap between the murders? Was the killer in prison for 28 years? Or did the killings ever stop at all, just in different locations where the F.B.I. crime database couldn't match the M.O. with other killings?
This series is one of my favorites. If the series were to end after this book, it would be a complete series. However, I believe there should be more books on Giselle Norwood, whether they are in the D. C. Medical Examiner's Office, or in Mexico with possible relatives of Giselle's on her holistic healing grandmother's side of the family. I received an advanced reader's copy and this is my honest and voluntary review. I gave this book a 5-star rating, but it deserves 100 stars minimum.
Love the characters in this series. What could be more entertaining than a brilliant pathologist, a grumpy investigator, and a wise cracking FBI agent. And let’s not forget the murderer who wants the protagonist to prove him wrong. The story is well written and the mystery is engaging. Definitely put this book in your TBR pile.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Audrey Walker has done it again with the third book in the incredible Giselle Norwood series that keeps you on the edge of your seat as you can't stop turning pages. When Giselle, the Washington DC Coroner and her boyfriend, FBI Special Agent Andre Winters return to Washington, Hank, Giselle's investigator hits them with a double murder that smells of the Lover's Lane Killings that were never solved many years ago. Coincidentally, Both Hank and Agent Winters had worked on that case. So now there is a vested interest in solving this one and if it is the serial killer from long ago, put him away for good. Add to that and notes in Latin have been left at the crime scenes. What could that mean? Time is running out as the serial killer claims another victim. Why is he killing these people and what has it to do with Giselle? Can they solve this case before more people die and maybe even Giselle herself? With Giselle, Hank and Andre on the case they are taken through so many twists and turns that you are shocked when you get to the ending. This book is a fantastic addition to this series which is highly recommended if you like Edge of your seat page turning, twisted thrillers . I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Giselle and Andre just landing when she hears from Hank. She is told that two bodies have been discovered and by all appearances it was done by "the lover lane killer" who operated in the area 28 years earlier. When arriving at the scene, Giselle learned that both Hank and Andre had been working on the case 28 years ago. The calling card of the killer was a card with a message written in Latin. As they were looking into this latest case, another scene had bodies discovered also believed to be killed by the killer who had been around long ago. In this case the individuals killed was a police detective and the individual whose fingerprints were found at the earlier scene. The calling card was also discovered at this scene as well.
Read along as Andre and Giselle followed the clues that might lead them to the killer. Learn who helped finally bring a corruption scheme to the forefront. See how Levi was used and his discoveries began to put them on the right track. The ending is well done and will surprise you.
Definitely a book you need to read. You won't be disappointed.
Audrey Walker delivers another heart-pounding installment in the gripping Giselle Norwood series with 'Kiss of Death.' From the moment you crack open the book, you're transported into a world of suspense and intrigue that keeps you guessing until the very end.
As Giselle, the tenacious Washington DC Coroner, and her devoted partner, FBI Special Agent Andre Winters, dive into a chilling case reminiscent of past mysteries, the stakes couldn't be higher. With the resurgence of the Lover's Lane Killings and cryptic Latin notes left at crime scenes, the race against time becomes even more urgent.
Walker masterfully weaves a tale filled with unexpected twists and turns, leaving readers on the edge of their seats with each page turn. The chemistry between Giselle, Hank, and Andre adds depth to the narrative, drawing readers deeper into the investigation.
'Kiss of Death' is a must-read for fans of pulse-pounding thrillers. Walker's impeccable storytelling and knack for crafting intricate plots make this a standout addition to the series. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the Giselle Norwood series, prepare to be captivated from start to finish.
Kiss of Death finally ties up all the loose ends Audrey Walker created in the previous 2 books of the Giselle Norwood series. What a page turner. Filled with a lot of suspense and mystery, plus a touch of humor and romance. The introduction of Vincent Tedesco added so much to the story with Giselle getting a better understanding of herself and her family and the real meaning of her life and all she has struggled with. No spoilers because you need to read about her journey yourselves. There is so much mystery in trying to figure out the real serial killer it keeps you wanting to continue reading until you discover the answers. Audrey Walker has also included a lot of technical and medical explanations which add to the enjoyment of the story. It will get you thinking about the role and impacts Big Pharma has had on society. Definitely a book worth reading.
Kiss of Death is the third in the Giselle Norwood series. She’s the Medical Examiner in Washington, DC. After some time off, Giselle returns to her first job—a double murder that looks like a copycat serial killer. Because there doesn’t appear to have been any murders in 27 years! To bring it closer to home, her boyfriend (Andre Winters—Special Agent, FBI) is the leading expert on the earlier murders. He’d even written a book on them. The two get involved; along with a Catholic priest who seems to know a bit too much, and a whistle blower who knows a lot about why the couple may have been killed. It’s an interesting read that I did mostly on airplanes. I was given an advance reader copy and am voluntarily giving my review. You’ll be guessing who the killer is throughout (BTW, I was wrong) and ready for the next one. It’s not perfect, but quite a good mystery for me.
it's a really intriguing blend if insight, intuition, games and psychological playing and praying
indeed, questions surrounding hunter and hunted, predators and prey are examined more than once - and the Latin connected to many possible other things and meanings includes bits that might just be parts of references to other things - pain man, distortion or just downright being disturbed? perhaps
action, drama and confounding speculations and hints keep you guessing to the end - and hoping the end of this book is not the end of the story for some significant players
convoluted psychological puzzles, puzzling and theatrical and theological drama and fun!
A Psychiatric researcher Peter Sorinsen and his assistant Tiffany Anisworth are murdered resembling the previous case of a serial killer. Washington DC's Medical Examiner Dr. Giselle Norwood and FBI Special Agent Andre Winters have a chilling puzzle on their hands. Investor Hank MacGregor’ who was also working on the case goes to the crime scene looking for evidence. Time is running out as they try to find the culprit who was responsible for this gruesome crime. A chilling read. I received this ARC copy and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
Ms. Walker has really hit her stride in the series. She must have put a lot of work into researching this book. Giselle sounds like a real coroner, with all her medical jargon. The characters she has created are interesting and believable. A good story with a surprise ending. I did not see it coming! The only place I, myself, thought it fell down was when (not to reveal anything) Giselle and Andre has a "spiritual exchange". When you read the book the reader will understand what I mean. Highly recommended. I received an ARC book free for an honest review.
Giselle Norwood is a medical examiner who, once again, teams up with FBI agent, Andre Winters, this time working on a particularly difficult and unusual serial killer case. I love the characters, and the conflict between the pair is cleverly worked into the expertly-woven plot. Just when it seems that everything is resolved, the final twist is a killer! I really didn't see that coming, but it made perfect sense when it did. I hope there are lots more books to come in this series. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Giselle and Andre yet.
The Lovers Lane killing has never been solved so when two people are killed, it looks like the killer has resurfaced from his long hibernation. Giselle, Hank and Andre are perplexed as to whether it's the Lovers Lane killer or a copy cat. Their investigations lead them into murky waters. A nail biting thriller with unprecedented twists and intriguing characters. I like the trio of Hank, Giselle and Andre and their interactions.
This book is a fantastic read!! Once I started reading it I was sucked in and I just couldn't put it down. Literally from the beginning to the end it was highly addictive and had me on the edge of my seat wondering just what was going to happen next. It's definitely a book I highly recommend that you read wether you already read the genre or not. I can't wait for more fabulous reads from this amazing Author.
Another wonderful read from Audrey Walker. There are plenty of red herrings to keep the suspense ratcheted up. You won’t see the end coming until it is staring you in the face! I’m hoping this isn’t the end of this series, the characters are funny, the dialogue is sharp and the plots are always exceptionally well written. May Dr.Norwood have a long career hunting criminals!
Kiss of Death: A Medical Thriller (Giselle Norwood Series Book 3) is my forty-fifth read from author Audrey Walker and the fourth in the Giselle Norwood books. An exciting, enjoyable 319-page read that I read in one long sitting. I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Another serial killer spanning decade's so how did the death of two men one a cop the other a villain fit in except for the messages. Giselle Norwood chief medical examiner of the district of Columbia, special agent Andrae Winter's FBI oh Levi Singer cadet FBI are all working together to find the truth. A solid thriller that keeps you guessing until the end. Recommend
A medical researcher and assistant are murdered. It looks like the work of a serial killer of twenty some years ago. Forensic pathologist Dr Giselle Norwood and FBI special agent Andre Winter have a difficult task. A drug that is being rushed through the system. A number of twists in the investigation. The killer confronts Giselle in the morgue. A surprising conclusion.
Giselle get involved in another murder case. This one came from 30 years ago. But his bodies keep showing up. This is a very entertaining book with great character dialogue. I really enjoyed Gisele, Andre and the rest of the characters. I recommend this book for all crime thriller readers.
Well, I wasn't expecting that! No way did I pick the guilty party this time. Giselle and Andre are becoming closer, which is good to see. A new character has been added to the mix while one will be leaving, sadly. This series keeps getting better with each book.
Well this book is very good. Giselle ends up hunting another serial killer and isn’t having much luck. Then there’s her love life. How will that turn out. This is a great read. A lot of great characters. Audrey did it again. I definitely recommend this book!
Well, what do you think this another one of those endings I didn’t see coming at all. The one I thought it was turned out to be utterly and completely wrong. This was a cracking thriller, one I just couldn’t put down at all. I loved it, cannot wait for the next one. Highly recommended.
Amazing, tense, stellar, and oh so good! This book captures characters at their finest. A story that fascinates and dialogue that puts every word on every page in perfect order. I know you will agree. Highly Recommended. I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Giselle Norwood, M. D., Washington DC's eminent medical examiner, is caught up in another, potential, serial murderer's net. A fast moving, suspense thriller awaits you. A stand alone novel, but reading the prior novels informs you on her background and motivations.
Well, what do you think of this, another one of those endings I didn’t see coming at all. The one I thought it was turned out to be utterly and completely wrong. This was a cracking thriller, one I just couldn’t put down at all. I loved it, cannot wait for the next one. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fantastic mystery that will keep you wondering how the crime will be solved. Two important people are murdered, why and who committed such a terrible thing. Fast moving, impossible to not love everything about it. Ready for more.
Giselle is back again and needed! It’s a great interesting storyline and characters that pull you into another intriguing journey! Will all of the agents that come together to get the answers to the situation happening. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Another great murder mystery. Giselle, Andre, Hank, and Levi work together to solve the mystery. Throw Father Tedesco, whose interest in Giselle and her past, only add to the story. Enjoyed the book.
