As an AO mom I own a library most ppl would consider excessive. I adore books. God speaks to me through excellent writing. I eat the Iliad and breathe Phantastes.

I would trade almost all of my books for just two of Don Dent's. That's how much they've helped me understand what it is to be a missionary, be a person called to go where Christ Jesus sends.

Seriously.

This is essential reading for any Christian who plans on leaving their country of origin for any reason.

ESSENTIAL.

This is THE guide on being in missions or being an expat or being a Christian who plants churches.

Along with his other book on apostles I feel like Mr. Dent has given me two powerful, practical maps to understand things that unless you are literally surrounded by foreigners in a country you care for but were not born in, you could never understand.

I thank God for this man. Phenomenal books.

A great read for anyone interested in missions. It is appropriate for a long term missionary/missiologist but approachable enough for a lay person. Therefor the book then lends itself as valuable for short and long term missions. Dent addresses misconceptions within missions by looking at each issues biblically and practically. He adds in illustrations from his time as a missionary and missions professor to give the reader a real life view of how the points he is making play out on the mission field.
